Father Lous Cyr, CJM
Word has been received that Father Louis Cyr, CJM, (Congregation of Jesus and Mary)Eudist, died on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Bathurst, New Brunswick.
His funeral was held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003.
Father Cyr served at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the early 1970’s.
Remember him and the Community of Eudist Fathers who served this parish for almost 25 years.

Ray Allen (Blue)Daigle
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, in the funeral home chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Ray Allen (Blue)Daigle, 47, of Lafayette, who died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at University Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Burial was in Arceneaux Cemetery in Rayne.
He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Daigle, Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Twyla Daigle and Clara Chiasson, both of Lafayette; companion, Phyllis Babineaux, Scott; two brothers, Gerald Daigle, Scott and Daniel Daigle, Lafayette; three sisters, Willie Mae Jagneaux, Carencro, and Barbara Broussard and Sandra Boutin, both of Lafayette; a half-sister, Dot Daigle, New Iberia; and a godchild, and Eva Daigle, Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Evelyn Daigle; his parents, Helen Hartie Daigle and Willie Bill; Daigle.
Mr. Daigle (Tee Pop) was a painter in the Lafayette community for ten years for Acadian Painters.
Pallbearers were Eva Daigle, Billy Castille, Carl Jagneaux, Ricky Castille, Mary Hall, and Joey Broussard.
Honorary pallbearers were Josh Domingue, Jerome Wilkins, Emmick Castille, Danny Romero, Felecia Romero, C.J. Domingue, Gilbert Duhon, Bryon Duhon, Crystal Doutin and Steve Broussard.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Percy R. Breaux
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, with the Rev. Donald Pousson officiating, for Percy R. Breaux, 80, of Crowley, who died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at 2:50 p.m. in the Crowley Guest Home.
A rosary was recited Saturday at 8 p.m.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Breaux, Crowley; one daughter, Susie Martin, Rayne; one sister, Ruby Broussard, Morse; one grandson, Kevin Joseph Maturin; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Joseph Maturin and Dylan Charles Maturin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Leaze Breaux; and three sisters, Evan Jean Richard, Virgie Cormier, and Annie Mae Woods .
Mr. Breaux served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Leroy Morris Tanner
HOUSTON, TEXAS ––LeRoy Morris Tanner Passed away on Oct. 5, 2003, in Houston. Born Sept.a 1, 1919, LeRoy grew up in Crowley, and graduated from SLI, now UL of L, after serving in the army during World War II. He retired from The Superior Oil Company in 1981, after 32 years.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, Louis Morris Tanner.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline Privat Tanner, from Rayne; and daughters, Anne Johnson of Houston, Susan Leake and husband Steve of Kaufman,. Jane Lorenz and hnusband Richard of Houston, Pattie Bock and husband, Charles of Katy, and Kay Tanner and partner Molly Clark of Austin. He was PawPaw and Papoo to 10 grandchildren: Jim and Kim Ridge, Sarah and Andrew Leake, Mary Claire and Anna Lorenz, Patrick and Caroline Wilson, and Tyler and Alexandria Bock.
A Funeral Masswas held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in the Ars Chapel at St. John Vianney Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, with interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contribiutions be made to either the St. John Vianney food bank or any Houston area food bank.
Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home of Houston was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Etienne Thibodeaux
CHURCH POINT ––Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Msgr. Fred Swenson officiating, for Mrs. Etieene Thibodeaux, nee Lula Mae Smith, 73, of Church Point, who died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003.
Visitation will be until 10 p.m. Wednesday and form 8 a.m. to time of services Thursday.
A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Thibodeaux, Bristol, and David Lloyd Thibodeaux, Mamou; three daughters, Debra Savoie, Mire; Carol Ann Brouwn and Laura Fontenot, both of Guyton, Ga.; one sister, Joyce Darbonne, Opelousas; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was a retired nurse and member of the Ladies Altar Society of ST. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro, a member of Boys Scouts of America and the Rayne Band Boosters Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, Stephen and Emerite Smith.
Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of arrangements.

Elredge L. “Bill” Comeaux, Sr.
Elredge L. “Bill” Comeaux, Sr., 83, of Lake Charles died at 8:52 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, in a New Iberia residence.
Mr. Comeaux was a native of Rayne, and had lived in Lake Charles for the past 50 years.
He served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Comeaux was a carpenter and was a 50-year member of Local #953.
Mr. Comeaux was a past member of the Cruzin’ Cajuns and of the The Good Sam Club. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
He was “The Best”.
Survivors include three sons, Elredge L. “Bill” Comeaux, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Lake Charles, Gregory J. Comeaux and wife Eileen of League City, Texas , and Clyde J. “Bim” Comeaux and wife Lori of Lake Charles; three brothers, Howard Comeaux of Scott, Anthony “Nanny” and Peter Comeaux, both of Rayne; four sisters, Annette Comeaux of Rayne, Clare DeRise of Moss Bluff, Carol Reese of Wortham, Texas , and Nell Hardy of Rayne; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Louise LeBlanc Comeaux; his parents, Olga and Melcar Comeaux; and a sister, Pat Meyers.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Kingsley Nonis officiated
Burial was in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation was on Friday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a Scripture Service and Rosary being held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home.

James A. “Dee” Gardiner “Papa Dee”
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at a Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for James A. “Dee” Gardiner, 67, who died on October 30, 2004, at his residence.
Entombment was in St. Joseph #2 mausoleum.
Survivors include his three daughters, Jaime Henderson, of Lafayette, Tisha Collado and husband Mike, of Lafayette, and Jody Hammes and husband Terry, of Lafayette; two sons, Todd Gardiner and wife Shawne, of Crowley; Jarrod Gardiner and wife Kecia, of Lafayette; his mother, Madeline Sattler Gardiner of Church Point; one sister, Emma Gardiner Norris and husband Bill, of Abbeville; nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Wayman Gardiner; great aunt, Etta Guidry; aunt and uncle, Emma and Walter Daigle; paternal grandparents, Authur C. Gardiner and Mary Ellen Savoie; maternal grandparents, Joseph Sattler and Odile Guidry.
“Papa Dee” was a founder and member of Rayne/Church Point Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, member of Louisiana Funeral Directors Association and served as President in 1974-1975. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.
Owner and operator of Gossen Funeral Home from 1967 to 1993 at his retirement.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2004.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 and 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, November 3, 2004.
Pallbearers were seven of his grandsons, Keith Paul Henderson II, Zachary Henderson, Pvt. Joshua Henderson, Austin Zaunbrecher, Matthew Zaunbrecher, Michael Collado and Todd Gerald Gardiner, II.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Professional Home Health Service and close friend and caregiver, Ricky Chapman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. of Rayne.

Louis Allen Cormier
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Louis Allen Cormier, 73, of Rayne, who died at 5:36 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in his home.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
Visitation was observed on Friday at 3 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by two sons and their spouses, David and Linda Cormier of Scott and Ricky Cormier of Rayne; two step-daughters and spouses, Shirley and Ernest Dore, Scott, and Caroll and Norris Webb, Rayne; two step-sons and spouses, Mike and Gwen Guidry and Mark and Colleen Guidry, all of Rayne; two brothers, Gilbert Cormier and Gurtis Cormier, both of Rayne; one half-brother, Junius Comeaux, Rayne; two sisters, Marie Johnson , New Orleans, and Anna Marie Menard, Rayne; a half-sister, Rita Cormier, Rayne; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cormier served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of the Harold Bossley Post 6720 of Crowley and was serving as post commander and the Seventh District Commander of the VFW. He was a member of American Legion Post 77 of Rayne, and a member of the 40/8 Voiture 1558. He served as chef de gare for the local voiture and also as state chef de gare. He was the post commander of the VFW in Crowley for the past five years.
He retired after 30 years with McDermott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Simoneaux Cormier; his parents, Elise Credeur and Joseph Cormier; and four brothers, Albert Johnny, August and Percy Cormier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Walter Goodwill, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at a later date for Walter Goodwill, Jr., 47, of Rayne, who died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at the Rayne Guest Home.
He is survived by his father, Walter Goodwill, Sr., of Rayne; three sister, Margorie Goodwill and Jeanette Johnson , both of Rayne, and Anna Nelson, Crowley; one brother, George Goodwill, Rayne; and a companion, Betty Nelson, Crowley.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.
