Sidney “Sam” Dupuis
Funeral services were held Wednesday Nov. 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Sidney “Sam” Dupuis, 70, who died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Sidney Craig and Bonnie Dupuis of Elmera Heights, New York, Paul Sidney Sheppard of Scott, and Mark Joseph and Barbara Sheppard of Crowley; six daughters and their husbands, Malinda, and Larry Winn of Rayne, Patricia and Gerard Triola of Eunice, Ramona and John La Pointe of Rayne, Vickie Dupuis of Rayne, and Jackie and Zane Boudreaux of Carencro; one brother, Elie Dupuis of Lafayette; two sisters, Elizabeth Forestier of Lafayette, and Andrea Menard of Rayne; 13 grandchildren, 8 step- grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dupuis was preceded in death by his parents, Alexson and Esteve Lavergne Dupuis; five brothers, Alexander, Uris, Eddie, Jessie and Olide Dupuis; and one sister Marie Comeaux.
Visitation was Tuesday Nov. 2, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. of Rayne.

Alexander Dugas
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m.Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Arceneaux Cemetery, with Rev. Truman Stagg officiating, for Alexander Dugas, 80, of Lafayette, who died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in the Autumn Breeze Retirement Home in Lafayette.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Isaure Rose
BEAUMONT, TEXAS –– Isaure Rose, 96, of Beaumont, Texas , died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Vidor Manor in Vidor, Texas . She was the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Breaux, a native of Rayne, and a resident of the Beaumont area since 1927.
Isaure enjoyed gardening, cooking fruit cakes, pineapple coconut cakes, loved animals, sewing by hand, and loved to make coffee.
Survivors include daughters, Margie Dujchamp and husband Danny of Beaumont, Elizabeth “Liz” Mitchell of Spring, Jean Rose of Houston, and Mary Callender and husband Harland of Beaumont; sister, Winnie Menard, Rayne; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy; son. P.L. Rose, Jr., and son-in-law Pete Mitchell; sister, Agnes Simoneaux; and brother, Saul Breaux.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Vidor Manor Nursing Home, Mrs.Frances Dupuy, Sue Taylor and staff.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m.Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at Lamar Baptist Church in Beaumont, under the director of Broussard’s, followed by burial at Magnolia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Health Care, 550 Fannin Suite1230, Beaumont, Texas 77701-3313.

Frances “Fran” Adeleith Habetz
ROBERTS COVE –– Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove fro Frances “Fran” Adeleith Habetz, 50, who died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Southwind Nursing Home in Crowley.
Father Thomas Habetz officiated for the services with Father Francis Bourgeois assisting.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Geesey Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley.
interment was in the St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
She is survived by six sisters, Alberta Barlow of Jackson ville, Fla., Lucille Borne and her husband Norman of Baton Rouge, Catherine O’Connor of Gretna, Henrietta “Putt” Habetz of Crowley, Claire Habetz of Houston, Texas , and Pauline Habetz of Houston, Texas ; three brothers, Alphonse Habetz, Jr., Charlie Habetz and his wife Kay, and Ralph Habetz, all of Roberts Cove; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ms. Habetz was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Frances Meyer Habetz, Sr.; one brother, Henry Habetz; and one brother-in-law, Hugh O’Connor, Jr.
Visitation was observed Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services at Geesey Fergerson Funeral Home in Crowley which is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Earl "Bubba" Chiasson
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Earl "Bubba" Chiasson, 55, who died Friday, October 22, 2004 at his residence in Youngsville.
interment was in Rayne Cemetery Inc.
Survivors include his daughter, Jada "Libby" Chiasson, of Abbeville; one son, Jason Chiasson, of Youngsville; one granddaughter, Jaci Elaine Chiasson; and one sister, Catherine Champagne, of Duson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Orga Chiasson; and parents, Carroll Chiasson and Lorena Stutes Chiasson.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Monday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Villery “Sam” Benoit
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held Sunday, October 24, 2004, at a 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Villery “Sam” Benoit, 82, who Passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004, at 12:55 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
interment was in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Musical selections were provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Ave Maria, On Eagles Wings, Amazing Grace, Battle Hymn Of The Republic.
Mr. Villery was a native and lifelong resident of Bosco. He was a parishioner of the Assumption of the Bless Virgin Mary Church in Mire.
Mr. Villery was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a purple heart. He participated in the following battles and campaigns: Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe.
He retired in 1988 from Service Truck Line after 32 years of service and then worked for Enterprise Rental for five years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Helen Benoit of Bosco; two sons, Gerald Benoit and his wife, Rita, of Tyler, Texas and Thomas Benoit and his wife, Polly, of Bosco; three daughters, Judy Higginbotham and her husband, Terry of Bosco, Virginia Trahan and her husband, Carroll, of Lafayette and Angel Marie Barron and her husband, Donald, of Bosco; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Despany Benoit and the former, Andrea Cormier both natives of Carencro; five brothers, Hector Benoit, Edovic Benoit, Placide Benoit, Abbie Benoit, and Ferdinand Benoit; and four sisters, Marie B. Bourque, Laura B. Mire, Elba B. Royer, and Vivian B. Arceneaux.
A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday and continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday.
Pallbearers were Gerald Benoit, Thomas Benoit, Tyson Villery Trahan, Steven Benoit, Terry Higginbotham, and Donald Barron.
Honorary pallbearers were Carroll Trahan, Elmo Royer, James Benoit, Ronald Benoit, and John Dale Benoit.
The family would like to thank members and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and of Hospice of Acadiana.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, was in charge of arrangements.

Wilda L. Evans
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sautrday, October 23, 2004,at Cunningham Methodist CME Church in Rayne for Wilda L.Evans, 72, who died Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Memorial Center in Lafayette.
interment was in Rayne Protestant Cemetery in Crowley. The Rev. W.K. Rucker officiated the service.
Ms. Evans is survived by two sons, Jeffery Evans and Percy Senegal, both of Rayne; nine daughters, Debra Prudhomme, Crowley, Mona Senegal, Florence Senegal-Bolden, Toni Jo Senegal, Gaye Evans, Lera Francis and Gilda Senegal, all of Rayne, Myra Sweet of DeRidder, and Danielle Lofton of Houston, Texas ; one brother, Roland Evans, Rayne; two sisters, Vernita Coleman of Rayne, and Flora Newman, Baton Rouge, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Mable Evans, and one brother, Kenneth L. Evans.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Methodist CME Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kinchen Funeral Home of Lafayette.

Alfred Granger
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services were held, 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2004, in Landmark Church in Lafayette for Alfred Granger, 89, who Passed away Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 10:19 a.m. at his residence in Duson with his family.
interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Rick Langford, pastor of Landmark Church, officiated at the services.
Mr. Granger was a native of Scott and a resident of Lafayette most of his life. He was a member of the Landmark Church of Lafayette and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eunice Mathews Granger of Lafayette, one son, Dale Granger and his fiancé, Bridget Lormand, of Leroy, two daughters, Phyllis Clavelle and her husband, Carrol, of Carencro and Tammy Granger of Duson; two sisters, Rita Receringer of Houston, TX and Aline Crawford of Baytown, TX.; four grandchildren, Chad Granger and his wife, Lori, of Carencro, Crystal Tucker of Lafayette, Lacey Touchet of Duson and Mallory Lormand of Leroy and two great-grandchildren, Kaylin Granger and Katie Granger, both of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Granger and the former Ella Navarre.
Pallbearers were CArroll Clavelle, Seasn Granger, Bobby Womack, Randy Pelers, and Danny Robertson.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.

Merline Joy Faulk Morgan
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Ebenezer Nazarene Church for Merline Joy Faulk Morgan, 71. who died October 17, 2004, at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
The Rev. Joe Talhelm officiated for the services. interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband. Robert Richard Morgan of Crowley; two sons, Robert Wayne Morgan and his wife Diana of Scott, and Ray Morgan and his wife Stella of Roberts Cove; eight grandchildren. Kelly Morgan of Lafayette, Justin Morgan of Carencro. Becky Heinzl of Scott, Scott Heinzl of Scott, Jessie Guidry of Scott, Samantha Morgan of Scott, Mickey Morgan of Roberts Cove, and Tabatha Bridy of Roberts Cove; two brothers. C.W. Faulk of Indian Bayou, and Frank Faulk of Ebenezer; four sisters, Billie Foreman of Crowley, Fannie Sarver of Texas ; Beryl Faulk of Crowley, Nina Spell of Crowley: and a special companion, Onyx.
Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Lola Hayes Faulk; and one sister, Walterene Ashby.
The pallbearers were Justin Morgan, Scott lHeinzl, Scott Petry, Charlie Ashley, Scott Faulk, John Hrtt and Joel Faulk.
The honorary pallbearers were Jessie Guidry and Mickey Morgan.
Visitation was observed Monday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Ebenezer Nazarene Church, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to the time of service at Ebenezer Nazarene Church.
Geesey Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangement.
