Julien LeBlue
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral sevices were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church here, with the Rev. Nicky Trahan officiating for Julien LeBlue, 86, of Ovido, Fla., who died there in Winter Park Memorial Hospital .
Burial was in the old Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.
He is survived by three sons, Julien LeBlue, Jr., Lake Charles; James B. LeBlue, Coco Beach, Fla., and Dennis R. LeBlue, Columbus, Ga.; and one daughter, Mary A. LeBlue Deam, Bradenton, Fla.; and ten grandchildren.
Mr. LeBlue was preceeded in death by his parents, Pierre and Eugunie T. LeBlue; his wife, Margret R. Giroir LeBlue; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Aline LeBlue.
Mr. LeBlue was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Knight of Columbus.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Pierre (Boone) Abshire
CROWLEY –– Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church here for Pierre (Boone) Abshire, 75 of Crowley, who died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at his residence here.
A rosary was said Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by a wife, Anna Abshire, Crowley; two sons, Billy Abshire, Baker, and Terry Abshire, Rayne; one daughter, Judy Abshire, Crowley; two stepdaughters, Linda Benoit and Jeanette Vidrine, both of Iota; one stepson, Richard Spell, Melvin, Ark.; three brithers, David and Elmo Abshire, both of Iowa, La., and Joe Abshire, New Iberia; two sisters, Elgin Abshire and Willa Mae Wilder, Iowa; four grandchldren, three great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchldren.
Mr. Abshire was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Terrebonne; his parents, Theo and Emma Abshire; four brothers, Ben, Will, Man and Bee Abshire; and two sisters, Shook Huval andEula Mae Abshire.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Travis William Prather
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with the Rev. L.C. Lord officiating, for Travis William Prather, 94, of Crowley, who died at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in the Crowley Guest Home.
Burial was in the Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Branch.
He is survived by one son, Austin Prather, Crowley; and two sisters, Bernice Prather and Thelma Zaunbrecher, Crowley.
Mr. Prather was retired from Green Hardware and will always be loved and missed.

Rhea L. Jacobs
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Our Mother of Mercy Church here, with Father Francis Butler, S.S.J., officiating, for Rhea L. Jacobs, 97, who died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, in the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home here.
Burial was in the old Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary Citizen and Rosetta Jacobs, both of Eunice, Mable Hopkins and Margaret Jacobs, both of Houston, Texas , and Irene Moore, Crowley; four sons, Doresy J. Jacobs and Peter Jacobs, both of Church Point, and Paul Jacobs and Herman Jacobs, both of Houston, Texas ; one brother, Albert Landry, Baytown, Texas , one sister,Ella Mae Bradford, Baytown, Texas ; 53 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Ms.Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Jacobs; and five sons.

Lena C. Duplechain
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in Our Mother of Mercy Church, with Father Francis Butler, S.S.J. officiating, for Lena C. Duplechain, 84, of Church Point, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, in Acadia-St. Landry Guest HOme
Burial was in the old Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Richard Duplechain and one daughter, Jo Ann Vallery, both of Church Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curley Duplechain.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Clobule Joseph Abshire
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with Father Jerry Siebold officiating, for Clobule Joseph Abshire, 97, of Crowley, who died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, in the Crowley Guest Home.
A rosary was recited Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the chapel.
Burial was in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point.
He is survived by one son and his wife, L.J. and Erika Abshire, Abbeville; one daughter and her husband, Aldie and Norris Dugas, Eunice; five granddaughters, Cynthia Hart, Della Marie Touchet, Marlene lease, Mona Clavier, Patricia Kay Dugas; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Abshire retired from the State Department, was a member of the Woodman of the World and the Knights of Columbus in the Crowley area.

Rose M. Wilridge
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church here, with Father Francis Butler, S.S.J., officiating, for Mrs. Rose M. Wilridge, 64, of Church Point, who died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at 11:25 a.m. in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital here.
Burial was in the new Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery here.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Wilridge, Jr., Church Point; one daughter, Donna Wilridge, Church Point; one granddaughter, Natasha Ann MaCrae’ Joseph, Church Point; one great-granddaughter, Mallory Anne A’lyse Joseph, Church Point, four sisters, Thersa Guillory, Crowley, Shirley Davis, Houston, Texas , Loretta Grant, Duson, and Mattie Rogers, Oakland, Calif.; three brothers, Preston LeBlue, Oakland, Calif; and Joseph C. LeBlue and Oscar P. LeBlue, both of Church Point; three nieces and two nephews that she took as her own children, Mary E. Carrier, Cheryl Citizen, Lorrie Phillips, Joseph Citizen, Jr. and Patrick L. Citizen; her mother-in-law, Frances G. Wilridge, Church Point; several godchildren, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and Linda Brooks and Choir.
Mrs. Wilridge was preceded in death by her mother, Annie B. LeBlue; her stepfather, Joseph LeBlue; two sisters, Mary Heneretta Citizen and Marjorie Keys; and three brothers, John L., Joseph L., and Edward LeBlue. Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Aurelita Stamm McLendon
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Aurelita Stamm McLendon, 85, who died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, in a local hospital.
Burial followed at Seaside Memorial Park with Msgr. Shirley as the celebrant.
Born and raised in Rayne, she was a graduate from the University of Texas in 1938 with a bachelor of art degree in education. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she had been employed with the McAllen Independent School District for twenty years as an elementary school teacher.
She was a prior member of the St. Pius X Auxiliary and volunteered with the Blessed Sacrament Convent. She also enjoyed playing bridge and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan H. McLendon; her sisters, Joselyn Page and Paula Stamm, and a brother, A.F. Stamm Jr.
She is survived by her children, Dan H. McLendon Jr. of Augusta, Ga, Carolina Fraser of Santa Rosa, Calif., Kathleen Archey of Anchorage, Alaska and Maxine Grim of Austin, Texas ; her sisters, Eliska Zock of Crowley and Joy Leach of Houston, and a brother, Stephen Stamm of Crowley.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Blessed Sacrament Convent, 4105 Ocean Dr., Corpus Christy, Texas 78411.

Sharon Jagneaux
DUSON –– A memorial service will be announced at a later date for Sharon Jagneaux, 54, of Duson, who died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Jagneaux, Duson; three sons, Robert Jagneaux, Haverhill, Mass., Kenny Jagneaux, Scott, and Brandon Jagneaux, Duson; one daughter, Penny Jagneaux, Lafayette; one sister, Yvonne Fontenot, Eunice; two brothers, Robert Steffen and Greg Steffen, both of Mamou; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Duhon Funeral Home of Duson was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Citizen
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, in Our Mother of Mercy Church here, with Father Francis Bulter officiating, for Emma Citizen, 62, of Church Point, who died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, in Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette at 3:39 a.m.
Burial was in the new Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery here.
She is survived by her husband, Amos Citizen, Church Point; three sons, Jerome Citizen, Leon Citizen, and Gregory Citizen, all of Church Point; two daughters, Mary Antoinette Howard, Mauk, Ga., and Elisa Marie Foster, Lafayette; one brother, Raymond Taylor , Grand Coteau; three sisters, Joyce Bertrand, Houston, Texas , Jane Southall, San Antonio, Texas ; and Barbara Bernard, Grand Coteau; and 10 grandchildren.
Mrs. Emma worked for Our Mother of Mercy Church for 20 years before retiring. If anyone needed help, Mrs. Emma could answer just about all the questions that you had. She worked and took care of any and everything, and even did volunteer work.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Citizen; her parents, Theresa and Walter Taylor ; one ister, Betty Malbroue; and two brothers, James and Harold Taylor .
