Eunice Pousson
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church here, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Eunice Pousson, 83, of Rayne, who died at 10:51 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
Burial was in the Ky Hebert Cemetery
in Crowley.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Willard and Janelle Pousson, and Willie and Beverly Pousson, all of Rayne; one sister, Mabel Mayeaux, Bridge City, Texas ; one brother, Ivy Gould, Baytown, Texas ; two grandchildren, Angelique West and Terry Richard; and five great-grandchildren, Lyndsay West, Stephon Lopez, Ethan Richard, Jason Lopez, and Michael Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney Pousson; her parents, Ella Doucet and Albert Gould; and three brothers, Lawrence, Jules and Howard Gould.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.
George Cabarl Augustine
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church here, with Father Bill Rusksoski officiating, for George Cabarl Augustine, 82, of Rayne, who died at 5:15 a.m. in Lafayette General Medical Center on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Theresa Cemetery
in Duson. Full military honors were provide by VFW Post 6720 of Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Augustine, of Rayne; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Harold Royer, Rodney LeFleur, Dobie Royer, Chris Royer, Rufus Royer, Jr., and Randall Cormier.
Mr. Augustine served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the first Frog Festival King of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Elizabeth (Liz) Meche
CHURCH POINT ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, with Fathe r John officiating, for Elizabeth (Liz) Meche, 44, of Mire who died at 2:24 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital.
A rosary was led by Deacon Sonny Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Burial was in Arceneaux Cemetery
in Rayne.
She is survived by her husband,. Willie Meche, of Mire; one son, Nick Meche, of Mire; three daughters, Amy Meche, Mire, and Carissa Richard and Rebecca (Becky) Meche, both of Rayne; her mother and father, Emery (Black) and Joyce Faul, Church Point; one brother, Gary Faul, Richard; two sisters, Elaine Rayon, Church Point, and Barbara Smith, Lafayette; and two grandchildren, Lexie Gautreaux and Jaycee Richard.
Liz was a resident of Mire and a native of Church Point.
She was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Leward Joseph Mier
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Leward Joseph Mier, 66, who died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at his residence.
interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery

The Rev. Thomas Vu, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce Marie Mier, of Rayne; one daughter, Janice M. Castille and husband Mark, of Rayne; two sons, John A. Mier and wife Sylvia, of Scott, James D. Mier and wife Kimbley, of Seal Beach, Cailfornia; mother, Ella Sonnier Mier, of Rayne; two sisters, Lovinia Credeur, of Rayne, and Mary Doucet, of Carencro; eight grandchildren, Jessica Mier, Kelby Mier, Justin Mier, Tayler Castille, Coady Mier, Tyler Mier, Kiley Castille, Karley Castille; three step grandchildren, Hallie Hatfield, Ethan Hatfield, Garrett Hatfield; and one great grandchildren; Evan Mier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Mier.
Mr. Mier was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church were he was an usher. He was a member of Woodmen of the World.
The family of Mr. Leward J. Mier would like to send out a special thanks to Dr. Michael Cain and his staff as well as Nurse Marie Olivier and the rest of the Hospice of Acadiana staff for the wonderful care and treatment they provided to Mr. Mier during his illness.
It is the wish of the family of Leward J. Mier that memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503-3240.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requested visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Thursday.

Elaine Elizabeth DeJean Smith
Funeral services held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Elaine Elizabeth DeJean Smith, 89, who died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at her daughter’s residence.
interment took place at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Very Rev. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, conducted the funeral services.
Amy Whatley, Donna Backus, and Sherry Steele provided musical selections.
Readers were Susan Franques and Don Whatley.
Mrs. Smith, the daughter of the late Dubousque DeJean and the former Louise Voorhies, was a native of Opelousas, La. and a resident of Rayne. She was an owner/operator of the Hobby House in the Oil Center for 17 years, and assumed the control of Acord Directional Drilling for three years after the death of her husband Toby Acord. Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish and the St. Mary’s Choir, along with being a past member of the American Cancer Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna Acord Whatley and husband Donald of Pineville, Patsy Acord Franques and husband Howard, Jr. of Lafayette, Frances Acord Jewell and husband Joseph of Rayne; twelve grandchildren, Bill Franques and wife Yvette, Howard Franques, III and wife Annette, Susan Franques, Charles Corne and wife Denise, Jarred Corne and wife Sandra, Bryan Jewell, Chris Jewell and wife Jennifer, Michael Jewell, Bobby Whatley and wife Amy, Glen Whatley and wife Tylitha, Sherry Steele and husband Tom, Donna Backus and husband Jody; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Toby Acord; second husband, Charles T. Smith; one daughter, Andrea Ann Acord Murff; four sisters, Olymph Caffey, Verlie Foreman, Louise Stutes, Norma Ortego; and two brothers, Leo DeJean, and Hubert DeJean.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital and staff of Dr. Robert Carroll and Dr. Lester Ducote, and the staff of Lamm Home Health in Crowley.
Pallbearers were Bill Franques, Howard Fran-ques, III, Charles Corne, Jarred Corne, Bryan Jewell, Chris Jewell, Michael Jewell, Bobby Whatley, and Glen Whatley.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette was in charge of all funeral arrangements.
Grace B. Sarver
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley for Grace Bertrand Sarver, 101, of Crowley. Father Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michaels, officiated.
Mrs. Sarver died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Rayne Guest Home.
interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Annie Guillory of Rayne; four grandchildren, Joe and Mike Guillory, Connie Menard and Valerie Benoit and her husband Lee, all of Rayne; and four great-grandchildren, Damien and Maegen Benoit of Rayne, Casey Menard of Lafayette and Brett Menard of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnice Oscar Sarver; four sisters, Emma Morgan, Alice Kolb, Rose Petry and Louise Petry; and three brothers, John Bertrand, Theophile Bertrand and Antoine Bertrand.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Wilson P. Trahan
Funeral services were held Saturday October 2, 2004, at 1 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church for Wilson P. Trahan, 86, who died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at his residence in Duson.
Survivors include two sons, Carrol Trahan and Philip Trahan, both of Duson; one sister, Beatrice Benoit of Duson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Trahan was a member of the Selective service board for 20 years., K/C Degree team second and third degree for over 20 years; he was the first president of the Duson Lions Club; Civil service Advisory Board for 7 Years; K/C member since 1954; Veteran of U.S. Navy during World War II; member of V.F.W. Judice Post; American Legion Post 77 of Rayne, and also a member of the 40&8; Antique Auto Club (Charter Member); Mr. Trahan was instrumental in starting the Duson Volunteer Fire Dept. Serving as it First Chief, a position he held for 21 years, he was also Vice president of Lafayette Parish Fire Protection Association.
Pallbearers were Joseph, Karl, Kevin, Jude, and Richard Trahan, and Dwayne Benoit. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Dumas, and Brice Langlinais.
Visitation was observed in the St. Theresa Parish Hall from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until services.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery
under the direction of Gossen Funeral home of Rayne.
Eliska Stamm Zock
Crowley –– Funeral services were held Wednesday. Sept. 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Geesey Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Eliska Stamm Zock, 87, who died 11:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Crowley.
Father Rusty Richard, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, was the celebrant for the Funeral Service and the Committal Services at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Zock was a native of Rayne and a long time resident of Crowley. She graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in education. Mrs. Zock was an elementary teacher for many years in the Crowley school system. Mrs. Zock was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She was a terrific homemaker and loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends.
She is survived by one brother, Steven Morales Stamm and his wife, Catherine Toon Stamm of Crowley and one sister, Joy Leach of Houston, Texas , also several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Zock; her three sisters, Paula Stamm, Aurelita McClendon and Jocelyn Page; and one brother, Arnold F. Stamm, Jr.
