Wilson P. Trahan

Funeral services were held Saturday October 2, 2004, at 1 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church for Wilson P. Trahan, 86, who died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at his residence in Duson.
Survivors include two sons, Carrol Trahan and Philip Trahan, both of Duson; one sister, Beatrice Benoit of Duson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Trahan was a member of the Selective service board for 20 years., K/C Degree team second and third degree for over 20 years; he was the first president of the Duson Lions Club; Civil service Advisory Board for 7 Years; K/C member since 1954; Veteran of U.S. Navy during World War II; member of V.F.W. Judice Post; American Legion Post 77 of Rayne, and also a member of the 40&8; Antique Auto Club (Charter Member); Mr. Trahan was instrumental in starting the Duson Volunteer Fire Dept. Serving as it First Chief, a position he held for 21 years, he was also Vice president of Lafayette Parish Fire Protection Association.
Pallbearers were Joseph, Karl, Kevin, Jude, and Richard Trahan, and Dwayne Benoit. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Dumas, and Brice Langlinais.
Visitation was observed in the St. Theresa Parish Hall from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until services.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral home of Rayne.

Bernice Hebert

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004, in Centenary United Methodist Church for Bernice Libersat Hebert, 87, who died Monday, September 28, 2004, at her residence.
interment will be in Rayne Cemetery Inc.
Survivors include her son, Lee Hebert and wife Amy, of Rayne; one daughter, Judy Shelton, of Albany, California; one brother, Bernard Libersat, Jr., of Abbeville; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Joseph Hebert; parents, Bernard Libersat and Ida Lee Libersat; three brothers; and two sisters.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Beatrice Michon Alleman

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Sister Carland Jordon officiating, for Beatrice Michon Alleman, 51, of Rayne, who died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, in University Hospital in New Orleans.
There will be no burial at this time.
Visitation was observed Tuesday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Alleman, Rayne; one son and his wife, Neil and Vicki Alleman, Leroy; one daughter and her husband, Melissa and Travis Pellerin, Lafayette; his mother and her husband, Earline and Alcide Delcambre, Lake Arthur; one brother and his wife, J.D. and T. Michon, Spring, Texas ; three sisters and their husbands, Loretta and Alfred Duhon, Egan, Jonell and Jimmy Hebert, Milton, and Carol Dine and
Ronald Doucet, Lake Arthur; and four grandchildren, Collin Segrera, Michael Alleman, McKay Pellerin, and Kaylen Pellerin.
Mrs. Alleman was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Timberlee Pellerin; her father, Joseph Allen Michon; one sister, Allen Rose Michon; and one niece, Monica Michon.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.

Herman J. Babineaux

Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Herman Joseph Babineaux, 64, who died Monday, September 27, 2004 in Rayne Guest Home.
interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lafayette.
Survivors include his two daughters, Holly B. Richard and husband Sean, of Rayne, Charisse B. Guidry, of Katy, Texas ; two sons, Benjy Babineaux and wife Jamie, of Roberts Cove, and Stacy Babineaux, of Scott; one sister, Linda Robins, of Sugerland, Texas .; one brother, Neil Babineaux, of Katy, Texas .; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Effrey Jean Babineaux and Gussie Marie Lacy Babineaux.
Mr. Babineaux was the Founder of “Tramps” swamp pop band and inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2001. He was retired from Columbia Gulf after 35 years of service, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Paul Walter Lasseigne, Sr.

Paul Walter Lasseigne, Sr., affectionately known as Mr. Paul, died at Tomball Regional Medical Center in Tomball, Texas , on September 15, 2004, two weeks before his 92nd birthday.
Mr. Paul was born October 3, 1912, on St. Rose Sugar Plantation near Labadieville, Louisiana . He attended school in Labadieville before going to Loyola University where he received his degree in Pharmacy in 1934.
Upon graduation Mr. Paul moved to Rayne to work at People’s Drug Store. In 1944 he opened Lasseigne’s Pharmacy which moved to 3 different locations before he sold it in 1989 and finished his career at People’s Drug store in 1992. He was a member of the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy and received an honorary Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loyola on the occasion of his 50th year as a pharmacist.
He was devoted to his late wife Dorothy, and together they were active in their community for many years. Mr. Paul was the last surviving charter member of the Rayne YMBC and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He moved to Tomball, Texas , in 2000 to live near his children in his advancing years.
Mr. Paul was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Castille Lasseigne; parents, Paul and Agnes Lasseigne; and three brothers, Russell and wife Angie Lasseigne, Malcolm Lasseigne and Richard Lasseigne. He was a model father to his three children: son Paul and wife Carolyn Lasseigne of North Little Rock; daughters Paulette and husband, Steve Pharr of Magnolia, Texas , and Joy and husband Bob Fontenot of Tomball, Texas . He adored his 10 grandchildren: Brad and wife Ann Pharr; Jenny Pharr; Scott and wife Tricia Pharr; Wesley and wife Kelly Lasseigne; Stephen Lasseigne; Robby and wife Stacey Fontenot; Renee Fontenot; Michael Fontenot; Mark Fontenot; and Ryan Fontenot. He had six great-grandchildren. He leaves a sister, Eldridge and husband Earl Reese of Metairie; a brother, Jerry and wife Connie Lasseigne of Thibodaux; and two sisters- in- law Bessie Mae Lasseigne of Port Allen and Ellen Lasseigne of Thibodaux. Also left behind are Jessie Mae and Josie Mae Young who are cherished like family.
Services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Monday, September 20, at 10 am.
Visitation was at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 19. A rosary was recited at 5 p.m.
Pallbearers were his 10 grandchildren.
Burial followed at Lafayette Memorial Park, Lafayette, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Building Renovation Fund, P. O. Box 199, Rayne, LA 70578, Rayne Centenary United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 308 North Parkerson Ave, Rayne, LA 70578, St. Anne St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1111 S. Cherry St., Tomball, TX 77375, or any other charity of donor’s choice.

Regina Hulin Trahan

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne at 3 p.m.Monday, September 20, 2004, for Regina Hulin Trahan, 95, who died on Saturday, September 18, 2004, at the Rayne Guest Home.
Regina Hulin Trahan was the daughter of the late Clement Hulin and Cecile Gary Hulin. She was born in Rayne, La. on August 28, 1909. She was married to David Trahan on December 28, 1927. Together they owned and operated Trahan Foods for many years.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Raymond and Mary Lee Trahan of Rayne, La., and Elwood and Marie Trahan of Madisonville, La.,; one daughter and her husband, Dolores and Don Deville of Rayne, La.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter, and one brother-in-law, Maurice Barbier of Lafayette. La.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Trahan; her parents, Clement and Cecile Hulin; her son, Wilson J. Trahan; her granddaughter, Dwana Trahan Hyatt; her great-grandson, John Paul Trahan; and her grat-granddaughter, Judith Anne Trahan. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Deynodt, Fred, Nelson, Clarence, and Simon Hulin; and her sisters, Alida H. Hanks and Edith H. Barbier.
She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Third Order.
The family requested that visitation be observed from 2 p.m. to 9 a.m. on September 19, 2004, and from 8 a.m. until time of services on September 20. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19.
Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Paul B. Leger

Funeral services were held Tuesday September 21, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. in the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Paul B. Leger, 78, who died Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Survivors include his wife ,Iola Johnson Leger of Lafayette; two daughters and their husbands, Victoria and Larry Sonnier of Lafayette, and Constance and Percy Abshire of Groves Texas ; one sister, Florence Hebert of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Karen Sonnier Demette, Stephan Abshire Gayre, Kurt J. Sonnier, and Christopher P. Abshire; eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Randy Demette, Davis Gayre, Christopher P. Abshire, Kurt Sonnier, Albert Leger, and Tom Johnson
He was a member of the American Legion Arceneaux Post 77 of Rayne.
Visitation was open Monday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral home of Rayne.

Elwood Richard

BRANCH –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in the Elizabeth Memorial Bapstist Church in Branch, with Pator Brian Hoteling and Pastor Leldon Richard officiating, for Elwood Richard, 81, o f Branch.
Mr. Richard died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
Burial was in the Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. untile time of services Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Eason, Branch; sons, Geno Richard and his wife Darlene, Branch, and Shannon Richard and his wife Roxie in Church Point; a daughter, Toni Richard Romero, Crowley; three brothers, Wallace Richard and John Hugh Richard, both of Branch, and Gary Richard, Rayne; three sisters, Freida Lynong, Crowley, Natalie Quebo-deaux, Branch, amd Cassie LeJeune, Lafayette; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Richard was a Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Bernidine Bellard Richard; a son, Timothy Carl Richard; two sisters, Jessie Andrus and Geneva Low; and one grandson, Ren Michael Romero.
