SCOTT HULSEY

Graveside services for Scott Hulsey, 43, of Memphis, Tenn. will be held on July 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove South Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Bryan officiating. Mr. Hulsey died on July 13, 2003 at his residence. Visitation will be held today, July 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

VIOLA Washington HARRIS

Funeral services for Viola Washington Harris are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the New Philadelphia Baptist Church, 125 Smith Street in Bastrop, with the Rev. C.H. Holmes officiating. She died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001.

FANNIE THARP

Fannie White Tharp was born in Rayville on March 24, 1911, and died May 30, 2002. She lived her entire life in the Morehouse Parish area with most of those years in Bastrop. She had attended an Assembly of God Church during her many years of serving Christ. She was known by others as a "prayer warrior" and a truly dedicated Christian whose first thoughts were of others and what she could do for them, or how she could help to meet their needs.

She is survived by a son, William Kendrick and wife Florine of Houston, Texas ; a daughter, Eva Stech of Bastrop; grandchildren, Anne Eubanks and husband Van, William Kendrick Jr. and wife Kathy, Lynn Morgan and husband Phil, Steven Kendrick and wife Peggy, all of the Houston area, Michael Lockwood of Bastrop and Jim Lockwood of Houston. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bonita Road Assembly of God with services conducted by Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, June 2 from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

DAVID N. HARPER JR.

Graveside services for David N. Harper Jr., age 88, of Bastrop will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2003 at Carter Cemetery in Collinston with the Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Harper, a retired custodian for Morehouse Parish, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 in Mer Rouge. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, was known for making his rolls and distributing them around town. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ella W. Harper; his sister, Velma Naff; two brothers, J.E. Harper and Rufus Harper; and a great granddaughter, Nicole Walker.

Survivors include three daughters, Dixie Lee Simon and husband Elwin of Baton Rouge, Tonie D. Walker and husband Jesse of Bastrop, Davie Sue Freeman and husband Dan of Bastrop; two grandsons Joe David Hodge and Jimmy Gayle Hodge; a step granddaughter, Gail Havens and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Tugwell, Markham Grimes, Ronald McKoin, Charlie Peppers, Bo Peppers and John Hundley.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Terrance Pierre (T.P.) Armstrog

Funeral services for Terrance Pierre (T.P.) Armstrong of Bastrop will be held at 1 p.m. December 4, 2004 at the Morehouse District Missionary Baptist Educational Association Inc., 8420 Collinston Road.

On Saturday, November 27, 2004, the Lord wanted our baby to come home to be with him, after 23 years here on the earth.

Terrance leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, LaShaunta Kimble Armstrong; a daughter, Tiana Armstrong; son, Terrance Pierre Armstrong Jr. of Ruston; mother, Stephanie Armstrong; his father, Terry Lee and wife Cynthis; sisters, ShaCassity Yolanda Armstrong of Bastrop, Marquita Williams of Houston, Texas and Avianna and Alexis Battle of Bastrop; brothers, Marcus Williams of Houston, Texas and JaVonte McDowell of Delhi; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Armstrong, Bernice Lee and Johnny Green Jr. of Pontiac, Mich.; great-grandmother, Dorothy Green of San Jose, Calif.; God-brother, Cortlen Newsome of Dallas, Texas ; aunts, Mitzie Armstrong, Sheryl (Tasha) Downs, Karen Armstrong (Kinnie), Muriel Lee (Nan), Paula Lee and Deltria Miller (Frank) of Bastrop, Vanessa Sapp (Dennis) of Pineville and Tonja Norwood (Derrick) of Monroe; uncles, Bennie Armstrong (Debra) of Birmingham, Ala., John Lee (Valerie) of Los Vegas, Nev., Kavin Armstrong (Earsley) and Andre Armstrong of Bastrop and a host of cousins, friends and relatives.

Irene Leedy -- Jonesboro, LA

Mrs. Elizabeth Irene Leedy, 58, of Jonesboro, LA died August 11, 2000 at Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2000 in the Full Gospel Temple with Rev.(s) David Wilson and Jackie Hightower officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Saline Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA.
Mrs. Leedy was a Sales Clerk and Department Manager.
She is survived by: her mother, Mary Coleman of Denhan Springs, LA; husband, Paul Leedy, Sr. of Jonesboro; two sons, Paul and Carolyn of Jonesboro and Allen and Betty of Henryetta, OK; three daughters, Donna Frazier and Kenneth and Melda Taylor and Rodger all of Jonesboro, LA and Carla Coleman and Curtis of West Monroe, LA; five brothers, Cosby L. Coleman of Houston, TX, William C. Coleman of Danville, LA, Jerry W. Coleman of Shreveport, LA, Gerald L. Coleman of Denham Springs, LA and Billy D. Coleman of Lucky, LA. Also 16 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. And a host of relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were: Scott Brown, Andy Brown, Chris Coleman, Andrew Coleman, Anthony Denton, and Roger Council.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
Mrs. Leedy is preceded in death by: a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Leedy; her father, Cosby A. Coleman and a great granddaughter, Miranda Frazier.

Beryl B. Hearne -- Chatham, LA

Beryl Bernice Hearne, 80, of Chatham, LA died Thursday, August 10, 2000 at her residence.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 12, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Concord Methodist Church with Bro. Donn Kurtz and Bro. Sam Emanuel officiating.
Burial was in the Concord Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA.
She was a retired teacher. She taught in the Jackson Parish School System for 31 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicki Lynn Self; one grandson, David Self; one granddaughter, Theresa Self all of West Monroe, LA. And two great grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer.
Pallbearers were: Hollis Downs, Robert Hearne, Bobby Meredith, Robert W. Prince, George M. Sarton, and Obie C. Sims Jr.

Don Birdsong -- Jonesboro, LA

Don Louis Birdsong, 63, of Jonesboro, LA died Saturday, August 12, 2000 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Funeral services were Monday, August 14, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Boudreaux and Bro. Collin Wimberly officiating.
Burial was in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA.
Mr. Birdsong was a Coordinator and a veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Henry Birdsong and one brother, Charles Henry Birdsong, Jr.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy Nell Birdsong of Jonesboro, LA; two sons, Don Louis Birdsong, Jr. and wife, Gina and Michael Wayne Birdsong and wife, Cindy of Coushatta, LA; one brother, Joe Birdsong and wife, Moira of Miami, FL; one niece, Denise Birdsong of Miami, FL; one step son, Randy Stevenson and wife, Lisa of Jonesboro, LA; one step daughter, Sharon Stevenson of Jonesboro, LA; four grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Tom Colley, Charles Knotts, Ray Layfield, Waddy Meek, Elmer Sanders, and Dean Walters.
Honorary pallbearers were: Kirwen Brown, Glen Morris, Wilber Pardee, Judge Hanson, Jesse Morrison, Kenneth Hernandez, and Jim Squires.

William Ramsey -- Chatham, LA

William Alvin Ramsey, 76, of Chatham, LA died Sunday, August 13, 2000 at his residence.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA.
Mr. Ramsey was in the pulpwood industry -self employed and a veteran.
Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Marie Ramsey, one son, Jerry Don Ramsey, and three brothers.
He is survived by: three daughters, Tammy Marie Evans, Donna Jean King and husband David, and Mary Elizabeth Pate all of Olla, LA; one son, Thomas Wayne Ramsey and wife, Brenda of Columbia, LA; four sisters, Irene Lowery and husband, John of Choudrant, LA, Marie McCroy of West Monroe, LA, Bessie Mae Ramsey of Jena, LA, and Mildred Taylor and husband, Damon of West Monroe, LA; three brothers, Clifton Ramsey and wife, Lessie of Chatham, LA, Clyde Ramsey of Kelly, LA and Jessie Ramsey and wife, Obeline of Olla, LA, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers were: Tracy Beamoffer, Chris Hartley, David King Jr., Joseph King, Micheal Pate and James Ramsey & Samuel "Pee Wee" Ramsey.

Robert Jackson -- Jonesboro, LA

Mr. Robert Jackson , 87, of Jonesboro, LA, died Monday, July 31, 2000 in Ruston, LA. Funeral services were Monday, August 7, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bienville, LA. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Jackson was a retired pulpwood contractor.

Ollie Jackson -- Jonesboro, LA

Mrs. Ollie Mae Jackson , 71, of Jonesboro, LA, died Friday, July 28, 2000 in Monroe, LA. Funeral services were Saturday, August 5, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at New Prosperity Baptist Church in Lucky, LA. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker.

Brian Rhodes -- Eros, LA

Brian Scott Rhodes, 33, of Eros, LA, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Farmerville, LA, after an accident. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2000 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Tingle officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA. Brian was a Logging Truck Driver. He is survived by his mother: Elizabeth Pool of Eros; 1 Step Son: Tyler Jackson of West Monroe; 1 Daughter: Briann Rhodes of West Monroe; 1 Sister: Teresa McCaskill of Jonesboro; his Grandmother: Oledia of West Monroe; 2 Aunts, 1 Uncle, 2 Nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Allon Gilbert (A. G.) Dark -- Jonesboro, LA

Allon Gilbert (A. G.) Dark, 87, of Jonesboro died Friday, August 4, 2000 at the Winn Medical Center. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2000 at Edmonds Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Dark, and Bro. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Dark was a Parish Supervisor.

He is survived by 1 Son; Jerry L. Dark and wife Ruthie of Jonesboro: 2 Daughters; Thelma Ford and husband Mack of Arcadia and Inez Reed and Leonard of Jonesboro: 1 Brother; Felton Dark of Bastrop: 3 Sisters; Linnie Mae Flask of Sacramento, CA, Sybil Hammett of West Monroe, and Leetie Spangler of Winnfield. 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Mr. Dark’s grandsons served as pallbearers.

Eutha Mae Rasbury -- Jonesboro, LA

Eutha Mae Rasbury, 81, of Jonesboro, LA died Monday, August 7, 2000 at the Jackson Parish Hospital. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Beech Springs Baptist Church in Quitman with Bro. Larry Jinks officiating. Burial was in Beech Springs Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Eutha Mae was a homemaker.

She is survived by 1 Daughter: Minnie Pate and husband Hilman of Quitman; 1 Son: Jerry Rasbury and wife Rhonda of Baton Rouge; 1 Sister: Jeanette Kelly of Brewtons Mill, LA; 6 Brothers: Albert Wages of Chatham, Charles Wages of Brewtons Mill, Elisha Wages, Jr. of Winnfield, Jasper Wages of Corbin, KY, Lonnie Wages of Warren, AR, and Ray Wages of Jasper, TX. and 5 Grandchildren. The Deacons of Beech Springs Baptist Church served as pallbearers.

Marvin Neal Poda -- Buchanan Dam, TX

Marvin Neal Poda, 68, of Buchanan Dam, TX died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at home after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2000 with Rev. Johnnie Phillips and Dewayne Boudreaux officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Poda was born May 17, 1932 in Vienna, Louisiana . He retired from Swift & Co. after 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Brown Poda of Buchanan Dam, TX; 1 Son, Jerry Poda of Bedford, TX; 2 Daughters, Sherri Poda Moran of Ft. Worth, TX and Cindy Poda Hilten of Rockdale, TX; 5 Sisters, Mallory King of West Columbia, TX, Ethelle Swanner of West Monroe, LA, Leuna Dyer of Rayville, LA, Nettie Traina of Jonesboro, LA and Derlene Wingert of Ruston, LA and 10 Grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Rodney Brown, Mark Wiggins, Jay Wiggins, John Dudley Poda, Michael Swanner, and Roy Weardon. Honorary pallbearers were: Rodney Hudson, Keary Freeman, Gary Swanner, Gay Swanner, Richard McDonald, Don McDonald, James Poda, and Bill Wiggins.

John Calahan -- Quitman, LA

John Willie Calahan, 57, of Quitman, LA died on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 in Ruston, LA. Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2000 at St. Rest Baptist Church, Quitman. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Quitman under the direction of King’s Funeral Home. Mr. Calahan was retired from the U. S. Air Force.

Sidney D. Hinton -- Sulphur, LA

Sidney Delmer Hinton, 77 of Sulphur, LA died January 28, 2000. Mr. Hinton was born Dec. 12, 1922 in Quitman, LA. He served on the USS Melville during WWII. He attended LA Tech and McNeese State University. Mr. Hinton retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. with 35 years of service. He was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge F&AM in Sulphur and the VFW. He spent many years working with the Sulphur Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Hinton; six children, Beverly Petross of CA, Debbie Elkins of FL, Dean Hinton, Francis Bruce, Rodney Hinton and Alesia Compton of Sulphur. 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Levon and Archie Hinton of Quitman and 3 sisters, Louise Bridges and Lona Johnson of Quitman and Earnestine Womack of West Monroe. Memorial services were held in Sulphur and graveside service and burial was held at Antioch Presbyterian Cemetery in Quitman, LA.
