Jerry Martin officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lucky, LA. under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mr. Knotts was a Toolpusher and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Knotts of Castor ; his mother, Vera Knotts of Saline; one son, Daniel Wade Knotts and wife Dewanna of Castor; one daughter, Carmon Michele White and husband Terry of Magnolia, AR; one sister, Margaret Wells and Husband James P. of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Kyle & Malina Sneed and Samantha & Seth Knotts. Pallbearers were his beloved Masonic Brothers from the Ashland & Castor Lodges.

Mittie H. Fowler -- Houston, TX

Mittie H. Fowler, 82, of Houston, TX died Monday, July 24, 2000 at Memorial Southeast Hospital in Houston, TX. Funeral services were at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel , Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joey Bignar officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories in Jonesboro, LA under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mrs. Fowler was a Bag Mill Inspector.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Ann Bickett and husband Andrew of Houston, TX; one son, Donald M. Fowler and wife Frances of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Deborah Fowler, Michael Fowler, and Lori Groce; and five great grandchildren, Kyle Goss, Meghan Fowler, Rebecca Froh, Justin Goss, and Andrew C. Groce. Pallbearers were Michael Fowler, Kyle Goss, Jack Branch, Steven Groce, Harold Standley, and Tobin Talley. Honorary Pallbearer was Billy Robinson.

Elbern L. Fowler -- Bernice, LA

Elbern L. Fowler, 93, of Bernice, LA died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Tri Ward General Hospital. Funeral services were at Edmonds Funeral Home Monday, July 31, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Lowe officiating. Burial was in Chatham Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mr. Fowler was a Farmer and a Veteran. Mr. Fowler is survived by one sister, Ola Foster of Bernice and several nieces and nephews.

Vernie McManus -- Eros, LA

Vernie Spillers McManus, 81, of Eros, LA died Thursday, July 27, 2000 in Ruston after a lengthy illness. Funeral service was Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the Greater Apostolic Church of Chatham with the Rev(s). Wayne Smith, Randall Walton, and Tom Runyon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, A.P. "Jack" McManus of Eros; 8 daughters, Emily Fields and husband Charles of Eros, Mary Ramsey of West Monroe, Kathryn Chambless and husband Alton of Dewitt, AR, Juanita Brown and husband Lindy of Ruston, Becky Tolar and husband Freddy of Chatham, Debra McManus of Chatham, Sue Tolbert of Chatham, and Kim McGee and husband John of Ruston; 3 sons, David McManus and wife Bernice of Chatham, Junior McManus and wife Velma of Eros, Doyle McManus and wife Judy of Eros; 6 brothers, Wallace Spillers of Dodson, James Spillers of West Monroe, Harvey Spillers of Chatham, Eugene Spillers of Eros, Dalton Spillers of Leesville and William D. Spillers of Leesville; 4 sisters, Beatrice Williams of West Monroe, Ruth Ramsey of West Monroe, Irmanel Young of Pollock, and Alma Robbins of West Monroe; 19 grandsons; 5 granddaughters; 15 great grandsons; 13 great granddaughters; and 1 great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eli and Lee Spillers, and 2 sisters, Mae Smith and Mary Finely.

Edwin C. Kennedy -- Jonesboro, LA

Edwin C. Kennedy, 79, of Jonesboro, LA, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Jackson Parish Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2000, in the Full Gospel Temple with Rev.(s) David Wilson & Mark Crook officiating. Burial was in the Garden Of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA. Mr. Kennedy was a Paper Mill Oiler.

He is survived by 1 son, James Edwin Kennedy of Jackson ville, FL.; and 1 step-son, John Ross Bougues of Jonesboro, LA.; 1 daughter, Mary Evelyn Walker of Jonesboro, LA.; 1 step-daughter, Virginia Martin of Dodson, LA.; 1 sister, Alice Trussley of Jonesboro, LA.; 6 brothers, Nathan Kennedy of Quitman, Troy Kennedy of Jonesboro, Delmar Kennedy of Shreveport, Earl Kennedy of Houston, TX, Ted Kennedy of Shreveport, and Billy Kennedy of Monroe. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Keith Walker, Kent Hightower, Quint Martin, Eric Bougues, Gary Bougues, and Micah Bougues.

Dorothy J. Godwin -- Jonesboro, LA

Dorothy Jean Godwin, 69, of Jonesboro, LA, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Healthsouth North La. Rehab Hospital. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2000 at Strange Methodist Church with Rev. J. R. Hearron officiating. Burial was in Strange Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Godwin was a Homemaker.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Vickie Bridges and husband Wes of Spring, TX; 1 son, James D. Godwin and wife Kathryn of O’Fallon, IL; 1 sister, Ethel M. Johnson of Readhimer, LA; 2 brothers, William P. Burch of Taylor , AR and Huey Burch of Pachaca, Mexico and 6 grandchildren.

Nephews served as pallbearers: Phillip Walsworth, Bill Dixon, Gary Nunn, Norvell Godwin, George Dixon, Tom Parker, Richard Johnson , Josh Bridges.

Virginia Harville -- Bienville, LA

Virginia (Virgie) Harville, 88, of Bienville, LA, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, in Bienville. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Terry Mims and Bill Compton officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories in Jonesboro under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Harville was a Bag Tender.

She is survived by 2 sons, Bobby Harville of Shreveport, LA and Jerry Harville of Mercedes, TX; 2 sisters Maude Allen of Jonesboro, LA and Dot Puckett of Grayson, LA; 3 grandchildren, Patti Butler, Stephanie Lyons and husband Clem, and Belinda Pierce and husband James; and 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan Butler, Kate Butler, Jake Pierce, and Jessi Pierce.

Pallbearers were: Tommy Bennett, Bob Bennett, Eddie Brown, Buddy Hatcher, Glen Roy Robinson, and Ralph Robinson.

Ernest Little, and Rev. Ed Morris officiating. Burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Mrs. Norred was a Bag Tender.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Mary Elizabeth Davis and husband Louis of Greenwell Springs, LA; 1 son Jack Randall Norred and wife Nell Rose of Jonesboro, LA; 3 sisters, Clovis Anderson and husband Lois of Quitman, LA, Shirley Payton and husband Robert of Ruston, LA and Vonice Stroud and husband Armon of Quitman, LA; 3 brothers, Charles Lee Nunn and wife Pam of Jonesboro, LA, John Earl Nunn and wife Bonnie of Jonesboro, and Othel L. Nunn and wife Delma of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

Pallbearers were: Tommy Anderson, Scotty Nunn, Tim Nunn, Anthony Payton, Jeffrey Payton, and Shawn Payton.

Katherine C. Moore, 74, of Jonesboro, LA died Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Satellite Rehab Hospital. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000 at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Bryan Moore officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Moore was a farmer.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Melinda Davis of Clinton, MS; 1 son Robert Moore and wife Phyllis of Jonesboro, LA; 2 brothers, Henry W. Collins of Vivian, LA and Malcolm Collins and wife Earlene of Winnfield, LA; 4 grandchildren, Chris Davis, Will Davis, Isaac Moore and Michael Moore.

Pallbearers were: Brian Garrett, Wesley Horton, Derek Kinard, Justin Kinard, Michael Linton, Eddie Simpson.

Burial was at Collier Cemetery in Chatham under the direction of King’s Funeral Home of Homer, LA. Mrs. Holly was a Beautician and self employed.

Katherine C. Moore -- Jonesboro, LA

Katherine C. Moore, 74, Jonesboro, LA. died Monday, July 10, 2000, at Satellite Rehab Hospital. Funeral service was Thursday, July 13, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Bryan Moore officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Moore was a farmer.

She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Davis of Clinton, MS; one son, Robert Moore and wife Phyllis of Jonesboro; two brothers, Henry W. Collins of Vivian, LA and Malcolm Collins and wife Earlene of Winnfield, LA ; four grandchildren, Chris Davis, Will Davis, Isaac Moore, and Michael Moore, all of Winnfield, LA.

Pallbearers were Brian Garrett, Wesley Horton, Derek Kinard, Michael Linton, Eddie Simpson.

Martha Green -- Clinton, Mississippi

Martha Dickerson Greene, 56, a special-education teacher, died Saturday, June 17, 2000 of cancer at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson , MS. Services were held at Pocahontas Baptist Church, with burial in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. Mrs. Greene was a native of Jonesboro, LA, and graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from La. Tech University and a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Greene, and her sons, Ramsey Greene of Starkville, MS and Jason Greene of Portland, OR.; her sister, Bobbie Dark and husband Gene of Jonesboro, LA, and nephew, Randy Dark and family of Jonesboro, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. J. and Lillie Dickerson. Memorials may be made to Pocahontas Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.

Benjamin F. Ponds -- Fontana, Ca

Benjamin Franklin Ponds, 76, of Fontana, CA, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, in Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA following a brief illness. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2000, in Riverside National Cemetery with Rev. Odell Bishop and Rev. J. W. Ponds officiating. Mr. Ponds was buried with military honors. Arrangements were made under the direction of Arlington Mortuary in Riverside, CA.

A native of Winn Parish, Mr. Ponds resided in Fontana for 40 years. He worked as a lumber clerk at Squires Lumber Co. in Colton, CA for 15 years and was Sunday School Superintendent and Associate Pastor at Voice of Faith Ministries for 10 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theater. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Washington Ponds and Mary Allie New Ponds; and one brother, Elmo Raymond Ponds.

Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Coleman of Jonesboro; Edna Bishop of San Bernadino, CA; and Mary England of Bloomington, CA; four brothers, James Otis Ponds of Pollack, Archie Franklin Ponds of Tullos, Huey Pierce Ponds of Rodeo, CA, and Jimmy Wayne Ponds of Riverside, CA; seven grandchildren, Lori Coleman Woods and Christopher Matthew Coleman of Jonesboro; Michael Eugene Bishop, Jr. and Stephen Odell Bishop of San Bernadino, CA, Benjamin Edward England, Sarah Lynn England, and Philip Aaron England of Bloomington, CA; and one great granddaughter, Autumn Paige Woods of Jonesboro.

James P. Greer -- Quitman, LA

James Pleasant Greer, 84, Quitman, LA, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Jackson Parish Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Christ with Bro. Freddie Shows officiating . Burial was in Siloam Cemetery in Wyatt, LA under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Greer was a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Crynne Wilson Greer of Quitman; six daughters, Dianne Greer and Dale Gunter and husband Billy of Quitman; Doris Nelson and husband Frank of Bossier City; Audie Peel and husband Wayne of Jonesboro; Debra Scott of Bossier City; Donna Womack and husband Ronnie of Jonesboro. Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Michael Shows, Scott Walker, Chad Walker, Shawn Colman, Conrad Allen Broomfield, Jr., Sonny Stephens.

Winfred Coleman -- Jonesboro, LA

Winfred Cleveland Coleman, 73, of Jonesboro, LA., died Monday, July 3, 2000, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Dark, Jr., Danny Gibson and Earnest Little officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Coleman was a paper stock prop operator.

His survivors include: His wife, Beatrice Coleman of Jonesboro, LA. Two sons: Steve and Terry Coleman of Jonesboro, LA. Two daughters: Sherlyn Caraway of Jonesboro, LA. and June Knox of Hodge, LA. One sister: Helen Council of Quitman, LA. and one brother: Marvin Coleman of Ringgold, LA. Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Mark Caraway, Greg Coleman, Jason Coleman, Jeremy Coleman, Jeff Huckaby, and Andy Brown.

Mrs. Theo Weeks -- Hammond, LA

Mrs. Theo Butler Weeks, 81, of Hammond, LA., died Friday, June 30, 2000, at North Oaks Medical Center. Funeral Service was Monday, July 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Cumpton officiating. Burial was in Transport Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Weeks was a bag tender.

She is survived by: two daughters, Dorothy W. Bramlet and husband Edward of Tickfaw, LA. and Melinda Sanchez and husband Frank of West Monroe, LA. Two sons: Edward A. Weeks, III and wife Ilse of Augusta, GA. and William P. Weeks of Tickfaw, LA. Four sisters: Alvern Carroll of Sun, LA., Linnie Crayton of Tickfaw, LA., Etoil Graham of West Monroe, LA., and Ozzie Morgan of Ringgold, LA. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Ray Ayres, Micheal Franklin, Justin McFarland, Jimmy Ray Morgan, Frankie Sanchez, Micheal Sanchez, Francisco Sanchez.
