Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2000 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Tingle and Hudey Beaubouef officiating. Burial was in the Henson Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker.

She is survived by: 4 sons, J. C. Black of Fruitvale, TX, Lonnie Ray Black of Farmerville, LA, Joey Smith of Jonesboro, and Charlie Smith of Ruston; 6 daughters, Audrey Faye Burch of Eros, Mary Alice Springfield of Jonesboro, Vivid Marie Springfield of Jonesboro, Rachel Ann Beaubouef of Jonesboro, April Smith of Swansboro, NC, and Dorothy Horton of Ruston, LA; 3 sisters, Oledia Harper Rolen of West Monroe, LA, Grace Waggoner of West Monroe, LA and Elsie Mae Sales of Seattle, WA; 28 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were: Grandsons- Richard Springfield, Rickey Springfield, Colin Beaubouef, James Calvin Black, Butch Springfield, Jason Springfield, Rocky Parker, and Devon Sanchez. Honorary Pallbearers were: J. L. Butler, Ricky Murphy, and Robert Mosley.

Delores Moffett -- Jonesboro, LA

Delores Ophelia Moffett, 69, of Jonesboro, LA, was born August 8, 1931 in Sikes, LA and Passed away Sunday, October 29, 2000 at decedent’s residence. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Onie Hay officiating. Burial was in Gayla Traina Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Moffett was a homemaker.

She is survived by: husband, Detroyce Moffett of Jonesboro; 2 daughters, Debbie Moffett of Jonesboro and Sheila Robinson and husband Jimmy of Glen Rose, TX; 1 sister, Sela Mae Quarles of Jonesboro; 1 brother, Billy Ray Womack of Goldonna, LA; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Anthony Giddens, Jerry Lester, Ira Fox, Ronnie Potts, Donald Disotell, and Brad Greer.

Ronnie Trevillion -- Simsboro, LA

Ronnie Glen Trevillion, 38, of Simsboro, LA Passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000 in Simsboro following a long struggle with depression and pain. Funeral service was Sunday, October 22, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Witt and Rev. Charles Lutrick. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Clay, LA. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Of Ruston, LA. Mr. Trevillion was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Trevillion is survived by: his wife, Therena Trevillion of Ruston; Jennifer Glynn and Jeffery Steven "Buck" Trevillion of Ruston; his mother, Edith Trevillion of Simsboro; his father, Bud Trevillion and wife Mary of Ruston; two sisters, Annette Trevillion of Simsboro and Donna Waggoner and husband Lance of Ruston; six brothers, Jack Anderson, Curtis Anderson and wife Sheila, Joe Bennett all of Baton Rouge, Duke Trevillion and wife Brenda, Luther Trevillion and wife Debbie all of Minden, Jody Trevillion of Simsboro; 1 brother-in-law Bubba Freeman and wife Monica of Simsboro; 1 sister-in-law, Danielle Anderson and husband Jody of Jonesboro; mother-in-law, Judy Freeman of Jonesboro.

Erdis Barlow -- Quitman, LA

Erdis Barlow, 81, of Quitman, LA, Passed away Friday, Oct. 20 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 in the Mt. Olive East Cemetery with Rev. Ron Lowe & Rev. Chris Lowe officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olive East Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

She is survived by: 2 daughters, Helen Masters and Glenda Barlow of Quitman; 2 sisters, Doshie Thompkins and Etoy Livingston of Shreveport; 2 brothers, Coty Thompson and Donald Thompson of Springhill; and 2 grandsons, Daniel Barlow and Adam Cruz. She is preceded in death by her husband - Guy Barlow.

Elton Hayes -- Quitman, LA

Elton Charles Hayes, husband of Aleane B. Hayes, Passed away Monday morning at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Monroe, LA. Funeral services, under the direction of Our Christian Funeral Home of Ruston will be Friday, October 27, 2000, at the Boyer Bell Building, Beech Springs Highway 11:00 a.m.

The body will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. til time for the services. Burial will be at the Bethany Baptist Church (new) Cemetery, Quitman, LA.

Claudine Dickinson -- Jonesboro, LA

Mrs. Claudine Dickinson, 74, of Jonesboro was born February 12, 1926 in Hodge, LA and Passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2000 in Jackson Parish Hospital. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2000 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Alton Peel, and Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mrs. Dickinson was a homemaker.

She is survived by: her husband, L. C. "Dick" Dickinson of Jonesboro; 1 son, Leon Gerald Dickinson and wife Barbara of Texarkana, AR; 3 daughters, Debbie Herndon, Renea Ott and husband Larry, and Pat Paris and husband Ronnie all of Jonesboro, LA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Craig Dark, Oliver Culpepper, John Wayne Fitzpatrick, Jimmy Tapp, Jimmy King, Mark Huckaby, Paul Maxwell, and Donnie Searcy.

Ann Parent -- Garland, TX

Ann Marie Moser Parent died October 9, 2000 in Garland, TX, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Parent was the daughter of Mrs. Alta Moser Swanner and the step daughter of Elder Lelon Swanner of Jonesboro.

She was born February 13, 1945, in Long Beach, CA, where her father, the late Leslie Wayne Moser was stationed with the U.S. Navy. She attended elementary and junior high school in Rogers, AR, and high school in Miami, OK. She attended college in Rutherford, OK.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Larry Parent of Allen, TX, and a daughter, Sherri Dawn Parent of Boise, ID, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Parent. Funeral services will be held at Praise Temple, Garland, TX, at 1 p.m., Monday, October 16.

J. L. Johnson -- Eros, LA

J. L. Johnson , 75, of Eros, LA, died October 11, 2000, Wednesday, at the V. A. Hospital in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. October 12, 2000, Thursday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.(s) Charles Henderson and Stanton Groan officiating. Burial was in the Eros Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Johnson was a painter-construction.

He is survived by 1 son, Freddie and Sharon Johnson of Eros, LA; 1 sister, Francis Turner of West Monroe, LA; 2 grandsons, Johnny and Connie Johnson of West Monroe and Jay and Amy Johnson of Sterlington; 3 granddaughters, Deannie and Scott Goss of Eros, Tonya and Jason Givens of Calhoun and Lori Johnson of West Monroe. And a host of relatives and friends.

Ozie L. Bedgood -- Winn Parish

Graveside services for Ozie L. Bedgood were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2000 in the French Cemetery, Verda under the direction of Kramer of Colfax, with Rev. Samuel Russell officiating. Mr. Bedgood, age 86, died Sunday, October 1, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Winn Parish and was raised in Goldonna.

Ozie will be sadly missed by his twin sister, Rosa B. Young of Jonesboro and a host of nieces and nephews from the Winn, Natchitoches and Jackson Parish areas.

Stephen Otwell -- Jonesboro, LA

Stephen Micheal (Killer) Otwell, 41, of Jonesboro, LA was born July 5, 1959 in Ruston, LA and Passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at his residence. Funeral services were at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2000 with Rev. Marty Wright, Rev. Frank Shields, and Rev. Stuart Toms officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Stephen was a Machine Control Operator.

He is survived by: his wife, Jennifer Otwell of Jonesboro; his father, Curtis Otwell; his mother, Marguerite Otwell; 1 brother, Dennis Otwell and wife Barbara, all of Quitman; 1 sister, Pat Reed and husband Crawford of Jonesboro; Father & Mother-in-law, Rev. Frank and Linda Shields of Anacoco, LA.

Pallbearers were: Jerry Garner, Gary Hill, Barry (Buddy) Womack, Todd Cooper, Randy McKinney, and Phil Milstead. Honorary Pallbearers: Jason Spangler, Mike Saulters, and Clay Osbon.

Purvis Nash -- Jonesboro, LA

Mr. Purvis Nash, 86, of Jonesboro, LA was born April 30, 1914 in Hodge, LA and Passed away Sunday, October 15, 2000 at Lincoln General Hospital. Funeral services were at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Dark officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Nash was retired from the Power House. He was a veteran.

He is survived by: 2 sons, Wayne Nash and wife Debbie of Chatham, LA and Glen Nash and wife DeAnn of Jonesboro, LA; and 1 sister, Cloteal Pedron and husband Willie of Weston, LA; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Sonny Stephens, Jamie Stephens, Cade Smith, Larry Avery, Darrell Avery, and D. R. Avery

Dorothy Trahan -- Jonesboro, LA

Dorothy Brunson Trahan, 82, of Jonesboro, LA was born March 14, 1918 in Sikes, LA and Passed away Thursday, October 5, 2000. Funeral service was a graveside service Saturday, October 7, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gayla Traina Cemetery with Rev. Billy Mac McBride officiating. Burial was in the Gayla Traina Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Trahan was a clerk.

She is survived by one son, Donnie Brunson of Jonesboro, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

Lillie Guthrie -- Jonesboro, LA

Lillie Vannell Guthrie, 73, of Jonesboro, LA was born May 14, 1927 in Quitman, LA and Passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at her residence. Funeral service was Friday, October 6, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Grubbs officiating. Burial was in Gayla Traina Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. She was a homemaker.

She was survived by: 2 daughters, Dorothy A. Brantley of Quitman, LA, and Rita Moore of Ruston, LA; 1 sister, Gladys Crowson of Manassas, VA; 1 brother, M.V. McDow of Salem, OR; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Guthrie.

Pallbearers: Sonny Bass, James Denton, Raymond Allen Guthrie, Brad Kimbell, Francis Maer, and Ricky McDow.

John Beal, Sr. -- Shreveport, LA

Funeral services for John Allen Beal, Sr. were held Saturday, September 30, 2000 at 10 a.m. in the Roseneath Chapel at Bossier City. Mr. Beal, 71, of Shreveport, formerly a resident of Hodge, died in Willis Knighton Progressive Care Center after a lengthy illness. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery in Natchitoches Parish. He is survived by his wife, Laverne; 1 son, John Allen Beal, Jr. and wife Carin of Creston, LA; 4 daughters, Sherri Beal of Jonesboro, Lorie Bedgood and husband Rodger of Dodson, Lydia Woods and husband Richard of Hodge, Margaret Tilley and husband Johnny of Goldonna; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan and Ethan Bedgood of Dodson, Nicole Beal of Coushatta, Jacob Tilley of Goldonna, and Aaron Woods of Hodge; 1 brother Lonnie Beal and wife Loretta of Natchitoches; 1 sister, Ladene Armand and husband Preston of Natchitoches, one stepson, three stepdaughters and several nephews and nieces.

Alice Brown -- Saline, LA

Alice Elaine Brown, 61, of Saline, LA was born Feb. 16, 1939 in Readhimer, LA and Passed away Monday, September 25, 2000 in Natchitoches Parish Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strange Methodist Church with Sis. Clara Supulvado and Rev. V. L. Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Strange Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.

She is survived by: a husband, C.B. Brown of Saline, LA; one son, C.B. Brown Jr. and wife Tanya Lea of Terrell, TX; two daughters, Judy Peterson and husband Ricky of Saline, LA and Janice Wiggs of Garland, TX; one brother, Charles Colley of Weston, LA; one sister, Annie Mae Edwards of Readhimer, LA; three grandchildren, Kelly Hay, Josh Peterson, & Candace Wiggs; and one great grandchild, Kylee Hay.

Pallbearers were: Joe Bergeron, Glen Colley, Carson Friday, S.N. Johnson , Monroe Supulvado Jr. and Larry Wright.

George Keys, III -- Jonesboro, LA

George Thomas Keys, III, 76, of Jonesboro, LA was born Aug. 7, 1924 in Sardis, MS and Passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at his residence. Funeral services were Thursday, September 28, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Bryan Moore officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories in Jonesboro, LA under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Keys was an Equipment Operator and a veteran.

He is survived by: 3 sons, Craig Keys and wife Paddee of Little Rock, AR, George T. Keys, IV and wife Dawna of Quitman, LA, and James Harold Smith of Lake Village, AR; 1 sister-in-law, Elizabeth Keys of Natchitoches, LA; and 7 grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Tommie Thompson -- Sikes, LA

Tommie Ray Thompson, 57, of Sikes, LA died Friday, September 29, 2000 at Winn Parish Medical Center. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2000 at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes with Reverend Connie Tucker officiating. Burial was at Hurricane Grove Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, LA. Mr. Thompson was a native of Hodge, LA and a truck driver.

He is survived by: 1 son, Kenneth Ray Thompson of Key West, FL; 1 daughter, Elizabeth Ann Thompson of Jonesboro, LA; 2 brothers, Jimmy D. Thompson of Jonesville, LA and Ernest David Thompson of Snyder, TX; 3 sisters, Gloria Davis of Jonesboro, LA, Rita Kay Stewart of Longview, TX, and Brenda Wilkinson of Natchez, MS; 3 grandchildren and a special friend, Becky Vines of Sikes. He is preceded in death by one brother Glen Roy Thompson.

Pallbearers were: Robbie Roberts, Bobby Dingler, Lane Womack, Scott Davis, Todd Davis, and Roy Thompson.

William H. Taylor , 86, Jonesboro, LA, died September 30, 2000, Saturday, at Forest Haven Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2000, in the Greater Apostolic Church of Chatham, LA with Rev(s). Doyle McManus, Cornelius McManus, and Sherwood Smith officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA. Mr. Taylor was a machine operator- Veneer Mill.

He is survived by: his wife, Levis Taylor of Eros, LA; 1 son, Bobby and JoAnn Taylor of Eros; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Pallbearers were: Mike Fields, William Massey, John Sedberry, Elmer McManus, Terry Massey, and Sherman Martin. Honorary pallbearers were: Donald Taylor , Mike Auttonberry, and Donnie McManus.
