Iva Fisher Martin -- West Monroe, LA

Services for Mrs. Iva Fisher Martin, 85, of West Monroe, LA was at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel, West Monroe with Rev. Emille Rouseau officiating. interment was in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel West Monroe. Mrs. Martin died Thursday, February 8, 2001 in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Martin’s greatest goal was the restoration of Hickory Springs Church in Caldwell Parish where she was born and raised. This goal was achieved several years ago and gave her great satisfaction. She was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold G. Martin, Sr. Mrs. Martin was the last survivor of her family which included eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her son, Arnold G. Martin Jr. and wife, Camille of Destin, FL; Two grandchildren, Angela Barkley and Arnold Gay Martin III, both of Monroe, LA; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were the men of Asbury United Methodist Church, West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to the piano fund to: Asbury United Methodist Church, 2100 New Natchitoches Rd., West Monroe, LA 71291.

James S. Robinson -- Jonesboro, LA

James S. Robinson, 28, of Jonesboro, LA, died February 4, 2001, Sunday, at Winn Parish Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., February 7, 2001, Wednesday, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. (s) Kevin Womack & Billy McBride officiating.

Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA.

Mr. Robinson was a construction millwright.

Survivors include: Stepfather, Guy Fitzke and Mother, Stephanie Fitzke of Dodson, LA; 2 sisters, Hope Butler of Baker, LA and Helen Hay and husband, Calvin of Goldonnna, LA; 1 brother, Christopher Robinson of Tioga, LA; Grandparents, Henry & Ida Robinson of Jonesboro, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were: Shane Howard, Jamie Blackstock, Damon Wiggins, Michael Coolman, Ricky Burnett, Stacy Burnett, Calvin Hay, Jr., and Larry Head.

Captain Rhymes -- Central, S. C.

Captain Thomas Roy Rhymes, 82, of 303 Chastain Road, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. Born in Jonesboro, LA, he was a son of the late Felix and Pearl Robinson Rhymes. He was a retired U. S. Marine Corps Captain and was retired from Laundry services of Clemson University. He was a member of Cateechee Baptist Church, the Marine Corps Mustang Association and the S. C. State Employees Association.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma Whitaker Rhymes of the home; sons, Thomas Lee Rhymes of Orlando, FL, Michael Roy Rhymes of Atlanta, GA, and Samuel Anthony Rhymes of Asheville, NC; stepdaughters, Ann Radford and Janice Chapman of Liberty and Carol Hudson of Pickens; stepson, Donald Holden of Liberty; sister, Henery Faye Bennett of Miami, FL; 3 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2001 at Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Sanders -- Jonesboro, LA

Dorothy Elaine Sanders, 67, of Jonesboro, LA was born March 4, 1933 in Delhi, LA and died Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Healthsouth North LA Rehab Hospital. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Charles officiating. Burial was in Beech Springs Cemetery in Quitman, LA under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mrs. Sanders was a secretary.

She is survived by: 2 daughters, Janet Granada and husband Paul of Lexington, KY and Patti Robinson and husband Glenn of Evansville, IN; 5 sisters, Evie Evelyn Freeman of Jonesboro, LA, Effie Catherine Futrell of Quitman, LA, Helen Christine Graham of Brownburg, IN, Muriel Marie Kramer of Eagle River, AK and Edith Ann Levenson of Shreveport, LA; 2 brothers, Charles Upton of Monroe, LA and Clyde Upton of Strong, AR; and 5 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Donnie Freeman, Tommy Freeman, Paul Granada, Kris Kleinsasser, Chuck Robinson, and Glenn Robinson.

Claude Rhymes -- Jonesboro, LA

Claude Garland Rhymes, 88, of Jonesboro, LA was born August 20, 1912 in Jonesboro, LA and died Wednesday, February 7, 2001 in Forest Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Ganey officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Rhymes was a Paper Mill Process Operator.

He is survived by: 2 daughters, Margaret Faye Hollis and husband John of Sterlington, LA and Dorothy Jo Stevenson and husband Carroll of Texas City, TX; 3 sisters, Lexie Mason and husband James of Jonesboro, LA, Bonnie Richmond of Columbia, LA, and Tommie Wise of Rosenberg, TX; 2 grandchildren, Faeda Crowson of Memphis, TN, and Teresa Luikens of Conroe, TX; and 2 great grandchildren, Emily Luikens and Ryan Luikens of Conroe, TX.

Pallbearers were: Ryan Luikens, Gary Nunn, Ezra Armstrong, Judd Taylor , Billy George McKinney, and Bobby Schmidt.

Sarah Warren -- Quitman, LA

Sarah Hazel Warren, 83, of Quitman, LA was born November 25, 1917 in Jonesboro, LA and died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Forest Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, February 11, 2001 with Rev. Billy Mac McBride officiating. Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Warren was a homemaker.

She is survived by: 1 daughter, Joy Ann Henderson and husband Jimmy R. of Hodge, LA; 1 son, Steven Oscar Warren and wife Shelley of Bossier City, LA; 1 sister, Ernestine Davis of Jonesboro, LA; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Josh Henderson, Jamie Jordan, Jason Jordan, Kenneth Ott, Michael Thrift, and Steven Warren, Jr.

Lorraine Jordan -- Jonesboro, LA

Lorraine Marie Jordan, 70, of Jonesboro, LA was born January 6, 1931 in Clark, SD and died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Jackson Parish Hospital. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Hodge United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Hamilton officiating. Burial was at Hodge Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker.

She is survived by: her husband, James D. Jordan of Jonesboro; 3 daughters, LaVonne Butenko and husband Con of Auburn, WA, Pattie Lindey and husband Chuck of Arlington, TX and Dottie Richmond and husband Fred of Hodge, LA; 1 sister, Edna Stewart of Shelton, WA; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Kenny Fitzpatrick, Dustin Hassain, Andrew Richmond, B. J. Richmond, Joshua Richmond and Frank Stanford.

Edgar Brinson -- Jonesboro, LA

Funeral services for Mr. Edgar Wayne Brinson, 83, of Jonesboro, LA was at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2001 in the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, LA with Rev. Dwayne Boudreaux officiating. Mr. Brinson Passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness. Mr. Brinson was a native of Bienville parish and a longtime resident of Jonesboro. Mr. Brinson retired from Continental Can Corporation in Hodge, LA as a supervisor after 43 years of service. He was a charter member of the Hodge Baptist Church.

He is survived by:

His wife of 62 years, Mrs. Mary Virginia Brinson of Jonesboro, LA; 2 daughters, Mrs. Waynette Glade and husband Henry of New Orleans, LA and Mrs. Ann Gresham of Thibodaux, LA; 1 brother, Charles Brinson of Jonesboro, LA; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Schoolfield, Olivia Rose Glade, Henry Brinson Glade, Matthew Clifton Gresham; 2 great grandchildren, Mary Virginia Schoolfield, and Lucy Schoolfield.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, A. W. and Annie Lou Brinson; 4 brothers, Clyde Brinson, Lester Brinson, Clayton Brinson, and Gus Brinson; 2 sisters, Evelyn Brinson Hargrove and Esther Brinson Edwards; and 1 son-in-law, Clifton Gresham.

Pallbearers were: Henry Brinson Glade, Matthew Clifton Glade, Bobby Clyde Brinson, Gary Charles Brinson, Murry Wayne Daniels, and Palmer Daniels. Honorary Pallbearers were: Marion Smith, Kenneth Folden, Tony Traina, Levine Spurlock, The Deacons of the Hodge Baptist Church and the members of the Wilfred Foster Men's Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hodge Baptist Church building fund at P. O. Drawer 340, Hodge, LA 71247 or to the charity of your choice.

Louvie Reed -- Quitman, LA

Louvie Lucille Reed, 73, of Quitman, LA, died Monday, January 29, 2001 at Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2001, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. (s) David Holton and Bill Staples officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Reed was a retired Bag Mill Worker.

She is survived by: 2 sons, Johnny Reed & wife, Judy of Jonesboro, LA, and Craton Reed of Quitman, LA; 1 daughter, Sandra Miles of Quitman, LA; 1 sister, Julia "Dutey" Stanford of Jonesboro, LA; 1 brother, Coonie Bryant of Pascagoula, MS; 2 half brothers, David Master of Jonesboro, LA and Harvey "Wimpy" Master of Quitman; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Santo P. Tardo -- Naples, ME

Santo "San" Tardo, 94, of Naples, Maine died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at Clover Manor in Auburn, Maine. He was born September 6, 1906 in Lafourche, Louisiana . Santo, a long-term resident of Jonesboro, Louisiana moved to Naples in 1991 to live with his daughter, Sandra.

His wife of 45 years, Jane Kennedy Tardo and his daughter, Linda Jane Tardo preceded him in death. He is survived by: his daughter, Sandra Tardo Long of Naples; three grandchildren, Christopher Tardo Long of Columbia, South Carolina, Jeremy Tardo Long of Paducah, Kentucky and Melinda Rogers of Monroe, Louisiana and five great grandchildren.

He was a retired cobbler, having been in business for 60 years in Jonesboro, Louisiana . Mr. Tardo was a Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Masonic Order. He loved fishing and was an avid golfer. In Maine, he attended the Conway, NH Church of Christ, having been a founding member of the Jonesboro Church of Christ in Louisiana .

Services were held on Saturday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jonesboro Church of Christ, with burial at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Visitation was held Friday, February 2nd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

James Williams -- Hodge, LA

James Oran Williams, 54, of Hodge, LA was born June 18, 1946 in Jonesboro, LA and died Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at Jackson Parish Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, February 3, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alton Peel, and Rev. Dwayne Boudreaux officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mr. Williams was a machine tender at Smurfit- Stone Container. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Williams and one brother, Arnold Mathews.

He is survived by: 1 daughter, Kristy Williams Baucom and husband Micah of Richmond, VA; 1 son, Thomas James Williams of Hodge, LA; 1 sister, LaRue Jones of Jonesboro; 1 brother, Armed Mathews of Jonesboro, LA; 1 brother-in-law, Chris Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; 1 Step daughter, Crystal Phelps of Winnfield, LA; and 3 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Van Beasley, DeLee Cavette, Charlie Sanders, Bobby Schmidt, Jimmy Tapp, and Bruce Whitman.

Clotiel Irvin Steinwinder -- Shreveport, LA

Graveside service for Clotiel Irvin Steinwinder, 87, was Monday, February 5, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincents Ave. Officiating was Robert Crichlow. Visitation was from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA. Clo died February 1, 2001 at Willis Knighton Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born August 4, 1913 in Atlanta, LA. Clo was a long time member of Broadmoor Methodist Church, and a full time wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband M. J. Steinwinder. Clo is survived by: her daughter Kaye Crinchlow of Shreveport, LA and two grandsons, Scott Crichlow of Baton Rouge, LA and Morris Crichlow of Shreveport, LA and two sisters, Pauline McBride of Jonesboro, LA and Agnes Thomas of Harrison, OH; one brother, Maxine Irvin of Jonesboro, LA.

A special thank you to Dr. Robert Long and all the staff in the ICU especially, Jeff, Julie, & Ryan at Willis Knighton.
