She was preceded in death: by her husband, Joseph Thomas Boswell; her son, Joseph Earl (Baby Joe) Boswell; 3 sisters, Ruth, Margaret, and Lillian Elaine; and 3 brothers, Marshall, Henry & Franklin Richardson.
She is survived by: her 3 sons, Melvin William, Charles Lee, and Howard Eugene Boswell; 8 daughters, Dorothy Ann Knott, Shirley Josephine Windsor, Annabelle Elaine Bradshaw, Lois Jean Talbott, Mary Lou Bowen, Wanda Violet Boswell, Judy Lee Tucker, all of Maryland, and Patsy Marie Lamm Wyatt of Jonesboro, LA; 3 brothers, Harry, Jimmy and Joseph Richardson; 40 grandchildren including, William G. (Billy) Lamm, James N. (Jamie) Wyatt, Jr. of Jonesboro, LA and William (Scott) Lamm of VA; 82 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Services were held on March 3 at 10:00 A. M. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home Chapel in Charlotte Hall, MD. Pallbearers were: Wilson Richardson, Mike Cooper, Dennis Windsor, James Boswell, Scott Lamm, and James Flynt. Honorary pallbearers were: Melvin Boswell, Jr., Kimberly S. Tucker, James N. (Jamie) Wyatt, Jr. Charles Boswell, and Joseph Bradshaw.

Bert Chatham -- Chatham, LA
Bert Malloy Chatham, 87, of Chatham, LA, was born April 8, 1913 in Chatham, LA and died Sunday, March 11, 2001 in St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Chatham Methodist Church with Bro. Bill Moore and Bro. Homer Bailes officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Chatham, LA. under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, LA. Mr. Chatham was a retired farmer.
He is survived by: 3 sons, Douglas Malloy Chatham and wife, Jackie of Atlanta, GA, Dwight Chatham and wife, Audrey of Chatham, LA, and Howard Glen Chatham of Chatham, LA; 2 daughters, Beverly Faye Hilbert of West Monroe, LA and Patricia May Willis and husband, Joe of Carrollton, GA; 1 brother, Charlie Royal Chatham of West Monroe, LA; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Jeffery Chatham, Lloyd Chatham, Douglas Chatham, Jr., John Hearn, Jerry Hilbert and John Mize. Honorary Pallbearers: Ed Ewing and Clifford Osborn.

Christopher M. Pardue -- Jonesboro, LA
Christopher Michael Pardue, 17 of Jonesboro, LA was born January 30, 1984 in Ruston, LA and died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services were Friday, March 9, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Bradford, Rev. Kelly Tingle and Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. He was a student.
He is survived by: his father, Michael Pardue and wife Vicki of Jonesboro, LA; his mother, Carla Roberts and husband David of Jonesboro, LA; 2 sisters, Jamie Hale of Alexandria, LA, Leigh Norred of Jonesboro, LA; 4 brothers, Trey Norred, Adam Pardue, Austin Roberts and Zachary Roberts of Jonesboro, LA; maternal grandparent, Freddie & Bobbie Davis of Jonesboro, LA; Paternal grandparent, D. R. & Claudine Pardue of Jonesboro, LA; paternal great grand, James Peel of Jonesboro, LA; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers: Brandon Bradford, Chad Cockerham, Justin Hilburn, Nathan Marks, Jason Potts, and Jeremy Potts.

Buford Ferguson -- Jonesboro, LA
Buford Preston Ferguson, 93, of Jonesboro, LA was born March 25, 1907 in Glenmora, LA and died Sunday, March 11, 2001 at Jackson Parish Hospital. Graveside services were Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at Walnut Ridge Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Gray officiating and under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Ferguson was retired - Maintenance Parks & Recreation.
He is survived by: nephew, Cullen Ferguson and wife, Jo of Arlington, TX; 2 great nephews, Tommy Gray and wife, Elaine of Jonesboro, LA and Patrick Yancey of Texas ; 2 nieces, Dorothy Rogers and husband, Larry of Wisner, LA and Louise Rumbaugh and husband, Ted of Doyline, LA; 1 great niece, Dorothy Wingert and husband, John of Jonesboro, LA.

Dugas
Mary Dugas, 84
Funeral services for Mary Dugas, 84, of Jonesboro were held March 28 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Malcolm Self officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Dugas died March 25 at her home.
Born March 9, 1918 in Jonesboro, she was a retired school teacher.
She is survived by daughters, Judy Beth Boudreaux and husband Bud of Natchitoches, Mary Ann Dugas of Nathitoches and Sue Lynn Sharp and husband Michael of Richardson, Texas ; sister, Patricia Ann Caldwell of Tyler, Texas ; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Andy Brown, Russell Wink, Hank Lowery, Raymond Borland, Emmett Hall and Jim Schmidt.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Hathaway
Tressie Hathaway, 81
Funeral services for Tressie Lee Hathaway, 81, of Jonesboro were held March 27 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Bros. Terral Lowe and Joe Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mrs. Hathaway died March 25 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1921 in Jonesboro, she was a retired shipping clerk for Continental Can Company.
She is survived by sons, James Wesley Hathaway and wife Georgia of Birmingham, Ala. and Buford “Sonny” Elzie Hathaway, Jr. and wife Dorinda of Roswell, Ga.; daughter, Ginger Pullin and husband Ross of Jonesboro; sister, Mary V. Runyon of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Mark Hathaway, Brandon Hathaway and wife Jennifer, James Hathaway, Brad Pullin and wife Sarah, Matt Pullin, Jessica Hathaway and Gwyne Harvey; and one great-grandchild, Alexandra Hathaway.
Pallbearers were Brandon Hathaway, James Hathaway, Mark Hathaway, Brad Pullin, Matt Pullin and Glen Runyon.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Lindsey
Artie Lindsey, 90
Funeral services for Artie Caskey Lindsey, 90, were held March 30 at the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Leach. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery in Fellowship, La.
Mrs. Lindsey died March 27.She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Henry Lindsey and son, Kenneth Marcus Lindsey.
She is survived by sons, Travis Jackson Lindsey of Shreveport, Billy Raymond Lindsey of Lafayette, Donald Ray Lindsey of Ruston and Roger Dale Lindsey of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter Emma Roy Kidd of Gibsland; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
Services will be under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Loventhal
Jane Loventhal, 73
Surrounded by love, Jane “Doe” Harrison Loventhal entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 21, 2002. She was born August 29, 1928 in Jonesboro, Louisiana .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh W. Loventhal; sisters, Betsy Stell and Martha Hargrove; brothers, Frank Harrison and Billy Harrison.
Known to her friends as “Doe,” she was a devoted wife, and an incredible mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Barlow and her husband Mickey, Denise Whitman and her husband Rocky and Ann Lee and Jim Stafford; and son Hugh “Wink” Loventhal and Laurie Routt; as well as her very special grandchildren Christy Koury, Scott McReynolds, Shaylyn Loventhal, Summer Burke, Tyler Smith and Trevor Smith; and five great-grandchildren.
For more than twenty years, Mrs. Loventhal was a sixth grade teacher at Hamshire-Fannett Junior High School, where she was a dedicated to making a difference in the lives she touched.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Broussard’s, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery on Highway 90, Beaumont. Visitation was Monday evening, March 25, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Services were under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary of Beaumont.

Coleman
Effie L. Coleman, 86
Funeral services for Effie L. Coleman, 86, of Hodge were held March 23 at the Calvary Tabernacle UPC with the Revs. Richard Gray and Jeff Stroud officiating. Burial followed at the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman died March 21 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born April 28, 1915 in Hodge, she was a retired bag machine operator.
She is survived by sons, Paul L. Coleman and wife Minnie of Hodge and John A. Coleman of Hodge; daughters, Armorzelle Carter of West Monroe and Nancy V. Woodrum and husband Hannon of Quitman; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dennis Coleman, Philip Coleman, Roy Coleman, Aaron Woodrum, Brandon Durbin, Justin Gray and Jody McMurray.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hays
William Hays, 84
Funeral services for William Dewell “Runt” Hays, 84, of Jonesboro were held March 19 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Stuart Toms and Malcolm Self officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Dewell died March 17 at the Highland Schumpert Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1017 in Hurricane, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an electrical contractor and had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Mr. Hays was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Doris Smith Hays; his parents Andrew Ward and Gladys Hays; and sister, Felcie Hargrove.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Schumpert Highland Hospital, pastoral staff of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Brother Stuart Toms of Quitman; and Brother Malcolm Self of Jonesboro.
He is survived by his son, Ronnie Hays and wife Sandra of Shreveport; daughters, Dianne Turner and husband Curtis of Shreveport and Helen Koonce and husband Roy of Quitman; sister, Lorenza Hart of Christiansburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Kevin Hays, Stacy Walb, Chad McFearin, Marla Fry, Gina Turner, Daniel Turner, Kevin Koonce and Keith Koonce; and 11 great-grandchildren, Morgan Hays, Brandon Walb, Sarah Walb, Macey McFearin, Maggie McFearin, Anna Fry, Allie Fry, Klay Koonce, Chelsea Koonce, Brittany Koonce and Bradly Koonce.
Pallbearers were Jamie Fry, Kevin Hays, Keith Koonce, Johnny Lowe, Chad McFearin and Barney Nash.Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Warner
Crystelle Warner, 75
Funeral services for Crystelle Haynes Warner, 75, of Jonesboro were held March 25 at the Jonesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Howington officiating. Betty Pate also spoke. Burial followed in the Shongaloo Methodist Cemetery.
Mrs. Warner died March 22 in Shreveport.
Born Dec. 5, 1926 in Shongaloo, she was a state appointed board of election supervisor for Jackson Parish and named “First Lady of the Year” by Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church and a member of the administrative board, the choir and the council on ministries. She helped establish and maintain the JUMC Memorial Prayer Garden.
Mrs. Warner also served as an alderman for the Town of Jonesboro for 20 years where she was a faithful attendee of state and national municipal conferences. She was an unsolicited citation for the Louisiana Garden Club Federation.
After retiring, she joined the Jonesboro-Hodge Garden Club and served as president of one term. She was a member of the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce and served on the parish beautification board. She was an active board member of the Jackson Heritage Museum and attended conferences in Washington , D.C. to help Jonesboro on many occasions. She spearheaded the effort in getting the Bradford Pear trees planted along Hwy. 167, and she served on the board of directors of Pinebelt Head Start. She was the former owner of the Dairy Queen in Jonesboro.
She is survived by sons, Jack S. Warner, Jr. and Johnny W. Warner and wife Gayla, all of Shreveport; brothers, Johnny O. Haynes and wife Barbara of Deridder and Charles O. Haynes and wife Doris of Nacogdoches, Texas ; sister, Mary King and husband Wayne of Springhill; and two grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Allen, Van Beasley, James Bradford, Joe Burns, Bobby Culpepper, Charles Garrett, Henry Hester, Alvin Jones, Troy Kennedy and Ira Reeves.
Pallbearers were Rodney Alexander, Randy Ewing, Danny Modisette, Aylon Pate, Troy Smith and Roger Young.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
