Julia Baxley, 45
Funeral services for Julia Kay Huckaby Baxley, 45, of Quitman were held March 14 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. H.M. Roach officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship Cemetery.Mrs. Baxley died March 12 at her home.
Born May 21, 1956 in Hodge, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Marjorie Huckaby and one brother, Pat Huckaby.
She is survived by her husband, James L. “Buck” Baxley of Quitman; daughters, Amy Evette Henderson and husband Kenny of Quitman and Audra Denise McMurrey and husband Jared of Quitman; son, James L. “Buck” Baxley, III of Quitman; sister, Charlotte Alexander and husband Jimmy of Monroe; brothers, Mike Huckaby and wife Sandra of Jonesboro and Tony Huckaby and wife Edith of Saline; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joseph Alexander, Brock Davis, J.K. Martin, Daniel Massey, Michael Massey and Clay Pullig.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Bond
Juanita Bond, 77
Funeral services for Juanita L. Bond, 77, of West Monroe were held March 15 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Joey Bignar and W.O. Busby officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Bond died March 12 at the West Monroe Guest House.
Born May 29, 1924 in Hodge, she was a retired sales clerk.
She is survived by her son, John H. Bond of Winters, Calif.; daughter Harriet L. Manning of West Monroe; sister, Mary Dean of Brownsville; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harold Bond, Jr., Bobby Duck, Glen Kirkland, Lee McBride, Billy Ted Walsworth and Ronnie Womack.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hill
Jennifer Hill, 28
Funeral services for Jennifer Rose Salley Hill of Many were held March 20 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Many with the Rev. John Lewing officiating. Burial followed in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
Ms. Hill died March 18.She was employed by Northwestern State University in the accounts department.
She is survived by her parents, Carroll and Beverly Salley of Many; son, Andrew Hill of Jonesboro; brother Robert Salley and wife Anna of Bossier; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Many.

Kelly
Harold L. Kelly, 77
Funeral Services for Harold L. Kelly, 77, of Jonesboro were held March 13 at the Jonesboro First Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm Self officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery.Mr. Kelly died March 11 at Willis Knighton Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1924 in Goldonna, he was retired salesman for Great Plains Bag Company and a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and was currently employed by Edmonds Funeral Home. He was an active member of the Woodmen of the World and enjoyed his friends and activities at the many senior dances in the area.
Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Kelly; and his parents, Lavaye Peterson Griffen and Lawson Kelley.
He is survived by his son, Gary Kelly of Hodge; daughters, Brenda Porter and husband Butch of Jonesboro and Kim Terrill and husband Sonny of Darlington, S.C.; brother, Donald Griffen of Minden; sister Ola Marie Parker of Minden; grandchildren, Leslie Porter, Aaron Porter, Marc Kelly and Hunter Terrill, all of Minden; daughter-in-law, Jacque Kelly of Baton Rouge; special friend, Jeri Tolar of Ruston; and his adopted family at Edmonds.
Pallbearers will be the deacons at the First Baptist Church.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Waggoner
James H. Waggoner, 78
Funeral services for James H. “Jim” Waggoner, 78, of Eros were held March 11 at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Eros with the Revs. Elvin Wheelis, Rick Crandall, Franklin Pearce and Mike Deviller officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Waggoner died March 9.He was retired from Riverwood International, a deacon at Mount Olive and a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Jean Waggoner.
He is survived by sons, Roger Waggoner and wife Donna of Hokes Bluff, AL, Randy Waggoner and wife Donna of West Monroe and Ricky Waggoner of Eros; brothers, Prentiss Waggoner of Eros, Eallie Waggoner of Eros, Huston Waggoner of West Monroe, John Waggoner of Columbia, Earnest Waggoner of Eros and Jerry Waggoner of Eros; sister, Dorothy Mae Hargrove of West Monroe; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Norman Baugh, Lemuel Baugh, Marty Varner, George Ferguson, Ronnie Massey and Barry Hubbard.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Culpepper
Mary Culpepper, 74
Mary “Lucy” Lucille Culpepper, 74, of Dayton, formerly of Jonesboro, Louisiana , Passed away Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Spring Branch Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Athens, Louisiana , retired from the Jackson Parish Hospital after working 22 years as a surgical scrub nurse. She spent her retirement working in her yard, her garden and quilting. Services were held March 8, 2002 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Louisiana with burial to follow in the Gayla-Traina Cemetery in Jonesboro, Louisiana . Her husband; Fred P. Culpepper, preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents: Albert L. Holland and Vera Jimmerson Holland; brother; Charles Henry Holland and sister: Avis Autry. She is survived by: daughter: Yvonne Folse and her husband Walter of Dayton; Sons: Wayne Culpepper and his wife Debbie of Jonesboro, Louisiana and Donnis Culpepper and his wife Stella of Las Vegas, Nevada. 10 Grandchildren: Jesse Culpepper, Caleb Culpepper, Sondra “Jenny” Rasbury, Mara Culpepper, Leah Culpepper, Jimmy Culpepper, Michael Folse, Rachel LaFountain, Megan Folse and Joshua Culpepper; 8 Great-Grandchildren: Cody, Ashton, Kaitlyin, Kayla, Brandon, Kristal, Elijah and Cade; brother: Albert L. Holland, Jr., of Wichita Falls; sisters, Aline Williams of Hodge, Louisiana , Cammie Johnson of Houghton, Louisiana , Betty Jean McMillan of Mississippi and Joyce Pate of Houston. Pallbearers were: Jesse Culpepper, Jimmy Culpepper, Michael Folse, James Rasbury, Randy Johnson and Raymond Holland. Arrangements were under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton and Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Bridges
Eva Bridges, 83
Funeral services for Eva Lee Kinabrew Bridges, 83, of Quitman were held at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dudley Poda officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Mariah Cemetery.
Mrs. Bridges died March 5 at Lincoln General Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Greenville, Miss., she was a graduate of Minden High School and Louisiana Tech.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Bridges.
Mrs. Bridges is survived by son, Charles Bridges of Quitman; daughter, Evelyn Bridges Thomas and husband Alvin of Bossier City; grandchildren, David Thomas and wife Kim of Keller, Texas , Deborah Thomas of Shreveport and Sharon Thomas of Bossier City.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Kirkham
Pearlie Kirkham, 88
Funeral services for Pearlie Asken Kirkham, 88, of Ruston were held at the Mt. Olive West Cemetery on March 11 with the Rev. David Martin officiating.
Mrs. Kirkham died March 9 at the Chateau D’Arbonne Nurse Care Center.Born March 29, 1913 in Mt. Olive, she was a retired bank receptionist.
She is survived by her sister, Cloteal Hanna and husband L.L. “Runt” of Quitman; sister-in-law Eva Starett Asken of Shreveport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Rogers
Quincy Rogers, 67
Funeral services for Quincy Louis Rogers, 67, of Hodge were held March 4 at the St. Lucy Catholic Church with Father Robert A. Leomhardt officiating. Burial followed in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers died Feb. 28.Born April 20, 1924 in Baton Rouge, he was a graduate of Southern University. He received a bachelor of science degree, a master’s degree and a certificate for plus 30. Her served in the United States Air Force an Air National Guard. He was employed by the Jackson Parish School Board for 25 years as a band director. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion Post 527 and Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Berth Rogers and siblings, Hosey, Lucille and Velma.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Vanessa G. DeBose and husband Anthony of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Darwin R. Rogers and wife Jamie of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Darwin Rogers, David Davidson, Jimmy Woods , Anthony DeBose, Franklin Williams and John Jackson .
Pallbearers were members of the American Legion Post 527.Services were under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Smith
Zylphia Smith, 85
Funeral services for Zylphia Smith, 85, of Jonesboro were held March 13 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Chatham. Burial followed in the Collier Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died March 7. She was a homemaker. Services were under the direction of King Funeral Home of Ruston.

Thompson
Jimmy Thompson, 66
Funeral services for Jimmy Carrol Thompson, 66, of Winnfield were held March 12 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Revs. Paul Elliot and David Tucker officiating. Burial followed in the Cypress Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died March 10 at his home.
A Winnfield native, he was a United States Navy Veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Cypress Creek Baptist Church and a welder.
He is survived by four daughters, Cythia Thompson and husband Roger, Pamela Trosclair and husband Paul, Charlotte Johnson and Debra Johns and husband Tommy, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Billy Thompson and Kenneth Thompson, both of Winnfield; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were John Wright Johns, Joshua Morris, Brad Plunkett, Tony Plunkett, Lain Trosclair and Jeremy Watson.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
