Roscoe Black, 95
Funeral services for Roscoe Owen Black, 95, of Quitman were held March 3 at the Liberty Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Tyler officiating.
Mr. Black died Feb. 28 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Sept. 18, 1906 in Bienville, he was a machinist.
He is survived by nephews, Dugan Bell of Quitman, Earl Bell of Grayson, Oliver Bell of Dallas, W.R. Bell of Quitman, and Ross Vail of San Antonio; niece, Gloria Sullivan of Quitman; and good friend David McConathy and wife Lisa of Quitman.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Boyett
Herman Boyett, 83
Funeral services for Herman H. Boyett, 83, of Dodson were held March 4 at the Antioch Bibleway Church with the Revs. Elton Gunter, Kenneth Stanfill, Ronnie Taylor and Rayford Higgs officiating. Burial followed in the Cypress Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Boyett died March 2 at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport.
Mr. Boyett served 16 years on the Winn Parish Police Jury and was the owner of Boyett Grocery and Boyett Land and Timber Co. He was a charter member of the Winn State Bank and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member and director of the Antioch Bibleway Church.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Lane Jean Boyett.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Temple Boyett of Dodson; sons, Don H. Boyett and wife Helen of Natchitoches and Von Boyett and wife Kim of Dodson; daughters, Mitzi Smith and husband Sammy of Dodson, Jill Boyett of Dodson, Kayla Nelson and husband Michael of Dodson and Ponda Chandler and husband Tommy of Dodson.
Honorary pallbearers were J.D. Rudd, Mickey Simmons, Kenneth Roach, Gorden Carpenter, Terry Reeves, Waymond Erskins and Gerald Boyett.
Pallbearers were David Caskey, Steve Bates, Michael Boyett, Kenny Ray Higgs, Don Price, Philip Chandler, Kenneth Williams and Gurvy Gunter.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Godwin
Georgia Godwin, 93
Funeral services for Georgia Kirkham Godwin, 93, of Jonesboro were held March 4 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bignar officiating. Burial followed in the Strange Cemetery.
Mrs. Godwin died Feb. 28 at the North Monroe Medical Center.
Born May 22, 1908 in Readhimer, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Melton Godwin, Sr.; and two sons, Joe David Godwin and wife Dorothy Godwin and Arnold Lee Godwin.
She is survived by daughters, Evelyn Adams and husband Bill of Coushatta, Gloria Dixon and husband George of Homer, Kay Dixon and Husband Bill of Shreveport, Delma Nunn and husband Othel of Jonesboro and Betty White of Monroe; son, Lee M. Godwin, Jr. of Pineville; 23 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hammons
Willie Hammons, 94
Funeral services for Willie Mae (Beatty) Hammons, 94, of Quitman were held March 1 at the Sweetwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Stuart Toms officiating. Burial followed in the Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Hammons died Feb. 27 at the St. Frances Medical Center.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church and a former member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hodge J. Hammons and son Carl Harrison Hammons.
She is survived by sons, Hodge Elmer Hammons and wife Doris of Quitman and Henry Jeff Hammons and wife Jannette of Quitman; daughters, Bonita Faye Kennedy and husband David Franklin of Shreveport, Mary Lucille “Tootsie” Howard of Quitman, Josie Caroline Byrd and husband Johnny of West Monroe, Shirley Ann Tibbit of Quitman, Janie Loraine Skains and husband Buddy of Quitman and Irma Jean Kelley and husband Steve of Quitman; sister, Annie Bell Strozier of Ruston; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Hennigan
Lorraine Hennigan, 88
Funeral services for Lorraine Caskey Hennigan, 88, of Saline were held March 1 at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Saline with the Revs. Malcolm Self and Waylon Gauntt officiating. Burial followed in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Hennigan died Feb. 26 in Quitman, Texas of natural causes.
Born Aug. 22, 1913 in Bienville Parish, she was a retired cafeteria manager.
Mrs. Hennigan lived in Saline most of her life, living in Emory and Mineola, Texas for the last four years. She was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church in Saline and retired from Saline High School. She was preceded in death by her husband Shellie M. Hennigan; son Shellie M. Hennigan, Jr.; grandson, Daniel Hennigan; parents Doss and Minnie Caskey; and sisters, Mary Lee Taylor , Madeline Wise and Dossie Louise Cheatwood.
She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Barfield of Mineola; grandson Shellie Hennigan, III and wife Bonnie of Jonesboro; granddaughters Lorie Barfield of Euless, Texas and Susan Cheatwood and husband Jimmy of Saline; great-grandson, Matt Cheatwood and wife Marsha of Saline; great-great-granddaughters Madison and Maci Cheatwood of Saline; daughter-in-law Doris Hennigan of Jonesville; brother and sister-in-law Robert H. and Jeannette Caskey of Frierson; sister and brother-in-law Lena and Slayton Hennigan of Shreveport; sister, Billie June Collinsworth of Goldonna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Annie Lee and Marvin Northern.Pallbearers were Jimmy Cheatwood, Noah Cheatwood, Travis Harper, Marshall Hough, Vernon Hough and Jerry Morgan.
Memorials can be made to the Magnolia Baptist Church in Saline or to the In His Glory Fund at the First Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas .
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Masters
Harvey Masters, 65
Funeral services for Harvey “Wimpy” Masters, 65, of Quitman were held Feb. 17 in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Lowe officiating.
Mr. Masters died Feb. 15 at the Jackson Parish Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was a sheet metal mechanic in retail fabrication.
He is survived by his wife Helen Masters of Quitman; two nephews, Adam Cruz and Daniel Barlow and wife Misty, all of Quitman; mother, Pearl Masters of Jonesboro; brother, David Masters and wife Jo of Jonesboro; sister-in-law Glenda Barlow of Quitman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Phillip Thompson, Railey Garrett, Ryan Masters, J.K. Martin, Joe Burnum, Dennis Robertson, Brad Spillman, Darren Hudson and Justin Collins.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Caraway
Johnny Caraway, 62
Funeral services for Johnny Mack Caraway, 62, of Quitman were held Feb. 21 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Jinks officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Quitman.
Mr. Caraway died Feb. 19 at his home.
Born June 11, 1939 in Jonesboro, he was a maintenance worker for Smurfit Stone Container.
He is survived by his wife Margie Caraway of Quitman; brother, Charles R. Caraway and wife Carol of Overland Park, Kansas; stepmother Faye Caraway of Jonesboro; stepson Jack Bailey, Jr. of Jonesboro; stepdaughters, Connie Beckham of Quitman and Candy Garrett of Jonesboro; and step-grandchildren, Jamie Beckham, Greg Beckham, Justin Bailey, Jeremy Garrett, Heather Bailey, Jessica Garrett, Bridget Bailey, Jonathan Garrett and Brooke Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Culpepper, Charles Spangler, Bruce Whitman, D.R. Pardue, Keith Koonce and James Clifford Johnston.
Pallbearers were Dalton Mathews, Gerry Mims, Gary Morris, Randy Porter, Roby Surber and Bobby Vail.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Daricek
Vera Daricek, 94
Funeral services for Vera Lanier Daricek, 94, of Jonesboro were held at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel on Feb. 26 with the Rev. Jimmie Pyles officiating. Burial followed in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.
Ms. Daricek died Feb. 24 at Pinehill Nursing Center.
Born April 1, 1907 in Tioga, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Lester
Carla Lester, 37
Funeral services for Carla Johnson Lester, 37, of Hodge were held Feb. 23 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Lutrick officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship Cemetery.
Mrs. Lester died Feb. 21 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1964 in Hodge, she was a housewife.
She is survived by her mother, Peggy Johnson of North Hodge; daughters, Brittany Rachelle Lester, Heather Denese Lester and Lindsay Renae Lester, all of Jonesboro; sisters, Cindy Barnes of Jonesboro and Barbara Lynn Johnson of North Hodge, Robin Kirkham of Ruston and Kathy Ross of Jonesboro; and brothers, Bobby Ray Johnson of Ruston and Charles Ray Johnson of Jonesboro.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
