James Gryder, 77
Funeral services for James H. Gryder, 77, of Eros were held Feb. 24 in the Salem Church with the Rev. Ernest Norman officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Gryder died Feb. 22 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was a retired forestry worker and a welder and mechanic. He also served in the United States Marines during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Hackworth Gryder; and one grandson, Rodney D. Gryder, II.
He is survived by sons, Harold S. Gryder and wife Dorothy of Eros and William H. Gryder of Eros; daughters, Wilma V. Gryder of Eros and Frances Simons and husband Johnny of Eros; sisters, Lota Mae Loflin and Nina Loflin, both of Chatham; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons, James E. Gryder, Rodney D. Gryder, Johnathan D. Gryder, Mark B. Simons, Matthew S. Simons and David Caughran.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Rohr
Thomas Rohr, 17
Funeral services for Thomas Edward “Ted” Rohr, 17, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 26 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Paul Elliot, David Leggett, Gerald Boyett and Billy Mac McBride officiating. Burial followed in the Cypress Creek Cemetery in Dodson.
Mr. Rohr died Feb. 23 at LSU Medical Center.
Born May 26, 1984 in Rockdale, Texas , he was a senior at Jonesboro-Hodge High School and a member of the Dodson Assembly of God. He was also an employee at the Winnfield Burger King.
He is survived by his mother and dad, June and Coady Thompson of Jonesboro; father, Charles Rohr and wife JoAnn of River Falls, Wis.; sisters, Jessica Leslie Ashcraft and husband Wade of Jonesboro and Heidi Fitzgerald and husband Tim of Phoenix; maternal grandmother Jessie Gresham of Jonesboro; paternal grandmother Lucy Stringer of Jonesboro; nephews, Garland Alexander Ashcraft, Mark Allen Cannerday and Jacob Moses, all of Jonesboro; and godmother, Kathey Tankersley of Salem, Mass.
Honorary pallbearers were Preston Ashcraft, Jamie Higgins and Dusty McMillan.
Pallbearers were Tim Ashcraft, Wade Ashcraft, Ernie Denis, Billy Gresham, Eli Lunsford and Chris Mason.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Shovan
Barbara Shovan, 67
Funeral services for Barbara Ann Shovan, 67, of Quitman were held Feb. 22 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ed Fenton and Chris Covington officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Shovan died Feb. 19 at the Willis Knighton Bossier Health Center.
Born March 4, 1934 in Jonesboro, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Bonnie Pyles; and one brother, Jerry Pyles.
She is survived by her husband, Dalton Shovan of Quitman; sons, Steve Shovan and wife Gwen of Quitman and Don Shovan and wife Suzann of Clarksville, Texas ; daughters, Janis Stephens and husband Barry of Shreveport and Amy Nugent and husband Lynn of Quitman; brothers, the Rev. Jimmy Pyles and wife Dessie of Ruston and Charlie Pyles and wife Sue of Quitman; and grandchildren, Stefanie Shovan, Clay Shovan, Kyle Shovan, Bradley Stephens, Marla Stephens, Bethany Stephens and Tammy Nugent.
Pallbearers were grandsons Bradley Stephens, Kyle Shovan and Clay Shovan; and nephews Randy Shields, Andy Pyles and Todd Pyles.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Woods
John Woods , 29
John Christopher “Chris” Woods , 29, of Stanfield, Oregon died suddenly at his home on Feb. 12.Born May 17, 1972 in Minden, he lived in North Hodge until the age of 15, when he moved to Hermiston, Oregon.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Greeno and husband Mike of Hermiston; father, Douglas Woods and wife Andrea of North Hodge; fiancée Cherril Beecroft and sons Grant, Garrett, Gavin and Gage Woods , all of Stanfield; son Christopher Powney of Hermiston; brothers Richard Woods of Hodge and Blake Woods of North Hodge; sisters Tammy Slayter of Hermiston, Melissa Dearning of Stanfield and Tiffany Woods of Quitman; and grandfather, Bobby Davis of Gibsland.
Services were under the direction of Burns Mortuary of Hermiston.

Wyatt
Jack M. Wyatt
Jack My Wyatt, a retired executive with Louisiana Power and Light, Company (now Entergy Corporation), died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2002. Beloved husband of 49 years to the late Willie Stroud Wyatt. He is survived by a son, Jack M. Wyatt, II; a daughter-in-law, Linda McLain Wyatt; a granddaughter, Katherine McLaine Wyatt, all of Tampa, Fla.; his brother, George William Wyatt of Jonesboro; and his co-workers and friends of Louisiana Power and Light, Company.
Relatives and friends of the family, also employees and friends of Louisiana Power and Light, Company are invited to attend funeral services in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Homes, Inc., 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at 11 a.m. interment Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretma, La. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Nigeria Mission, c/o Bakersfield Assemblies of God Church, 4901 California Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93309.Services were under the direction of Mothe Funeral Homes, Inc. of New Orleans.

Allen
O.K. Allen, 70
Funeral services for O.K. Allen, 70, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 14 at the Jonesboro Assembly of God with the Revs. Paul Bradford and David Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Springhill Cemetery.
Mr. Allen died Feb. 11 at his home.
Born. Dec. 28, 1931, he was a retired tractor shop mechanic from Stone Container. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Clary Allen; son, Michael Wayne Allen; brother, Charlie Allen; and sisters, Cloteal Hall, Helen Chestwood and Willie Mae Willis.
He is survived by son, Ricky Allen and wife Sandra of Jonesboro; daughter, LaDonna Welch and husband Greg of West Monroe; brother, J.T. Allen and sister, Vera Burnum, both of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Kyle Allen and Jessica Hattaway and husband Ray of Jonesboro; and great-grandchildren Aubri and Jaylan Hattaway, both of Jonesboro.
Pallbearers were Danny Allen, Jimmy Allen, David Brown, Cecil Hall, Billy Ott and Bill Burrows.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home

Collinsworth
H.L. Collinsworth, 76
Funeral services for H.L. “George” Collinsworth, 76, of Bienville were held Feb. 17 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chris Witt and Robert Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Collinsworth died Feb. 14 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1925 in Bienville, he was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II and a retired woodyard supervisor for Smurfit Stone Container. He was also a watermelon farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Collinsworth of Bienville; daughters, Cheryl McConathy of Arcadia and Sandra Degnan and husband Chris of Ruston; grandchildren, Paige Dearman, Chad Dearman, Clay Pilley, Collin Degnan, Alex Degnan and Nicholas Degnan, all of Ruston; and great-grandchild, Cassie Dearman, of Ruston.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Allen, Edwin Barron, Dr. Michael Belue, George Nomey, Kenneth Standley and Jerry Sullivan.
Pallbearers were Larry Alexander, Darrell Avery, Chad Dearman, Charlie Fullerton, Clay Pilley and Butch Weaver.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Cottonham
Eva E. Cottonham, 83
Funeral services for Eva E. Cottonham of Jonesboro were held Feb. 16 at the Brown Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Mt. Calm Cemetery.
Mrs. Cottonham died Feb. 8. She was a housewife.
Services were under the direction of King Funeral Home.

Gray
Joseph Gray, 85
Funeral services for Joseph “Fred” Gray, 85, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 17 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gene Cumpton and R.C. Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Mr. Gray died Feb. 14 at the Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Ruston after a lengthy illness. Mr. Gray was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. 280. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and retired from Continental Can in Hodge.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by one daughter, Laneta Janette Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Merline Gray of Joensboro; daughter, Carolyn Gibbs and husband Donnie of Jonesboro; sisters, Virginia Brinson of Jonesboro and Katharine Sones and husband Kenneth of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Scott Hall of West Monroe, Mark Gibbs, Kevin Hall, Kristi Reeves and Tammy Trosclair, all of Jonesboro; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the members of Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. 280.Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Nina Hall, 84
Graveside services for Nina Latisha Hall, 84, of Friendship were held Feb. 15 in the Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. Richard May officiating.
Mrs. Hall died Feb. 13 at the Baptist Retirement Center in Arcadia after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by one son, Johnny Hall of Irvington, Ala.; daughter, Linda Hall; and brothers, Pete Williams and John Williams, both of Shreveport.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
