Malone
Verlon Malone
Funeral services for Verlon Malone of East Hodge were held Jan. 5 at the Sandhill Baptist Church in Quitman with the Rev. Milton Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Sandhill Cemetery.
Mr. Malone died Dec. 31 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born and raised in Jackson Parish and after serving in the Korean Conflict, Mr. Malone attending Grambling College, earning a degree in social studies. He received his masters degree from Louisiana Tech University. He worked for 30 years in the Jackson Parish School System serving as a teacher, counselor, principal and assistant principal at Jasper Henderson, Jackson High and Jonesboro-Hodge high schools.
He is survived by son, Verlon V. Malone; daughters, Jackye M. Belton and husband David of Hodge and Sandra M. Gray and husband Roger of Hodge; mother-in-law, Johnnie Cheeks; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Rush
Hazel Rush, 99
Funeral services for Hazel McBride Rush, 99, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 30 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Milstead officiating. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville.
Mrs. Rush died Jan. 28 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1902 in Jonesboro, she was married to Frank Rush on May 28, 1937. She taught school in the Shreveport city system for 20 years. Mrs. Rush was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and a member of the Dugdemona Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Frank Rush; her parents, Margaret E. and Stephen Daniel McBride; brothers, J.H. McBride and D. Lyman McBride; and sister, Edna McBride Naremore.
She is survived by one sister, Ethel McBride Smith of Ruston; sister-in-law, Bess Burckett McBride of Shreveport; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Tyler
Huey Tyler, 66
Funeral services for Huey “Buddy” Tyler, 66 of Jonesboro were held Jan. 24 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Freddie Shows officiating. Burial followed at the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mr. Tyler died Jan. 22 in Haughton of lung cancer.
He was born in Jonesboro April 26, 1935 and attended schools there. He was in the transportation business for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Josie Tyler.
He is survived by his wife, Jovelyn; daughters Pamela, Casey and Camille, all of Jonesboro; sisters, Elizabeth Wyatt of Jonesboro and Onita Bond of Bossier City; brothers, Charles and Jay of Jonesboro; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Tyler Manuel, Steve Manuel, Terry Brister, Jason Tyler, Nathan Shows and Phillip Shows.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Morgan
Duard Morgan, 84
Funeral services for Duard “Dude” Horace Morgan, 84, of Goldonna were held Jan. 19 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Goldonna.
Mr. Morgan died Jan. 16 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1917 in Winnfield, he was a retired forester and a veteran.
He is survived by sons, James Paul Morgan and wife Brenda of Castor and William Michael Morgan of Winnfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam Carpenter, Russell Keith and Kenneth Weeks.
Pallbearers were Ricky Blake, Greg Carpenter, Jeff Dean, Buddy Durbin, Otis Peterson, Jr. and Jimmy Walker.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Randolph
Willie Randolph, 80
Funeral services for Willie D. Randolph, 80, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 14 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. H. M. Roach officiating. Burial followed at the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mrs. Randolph died Jan. 10.Born Oct. 4, 1921 in Jonesboro, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn W. Randoph and sister, Sarah Hughes.
She is survived by her brother, Ernest L. “Bud” King of Jonesboro; sister, Bobbie T. King McBride; step-daughters, Shirley Francis and husband Don of Silverton, Texas and Janice Geuting and husband David of Cologne, Switzerland; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Don Hill, Troy Smith, John Conville, Duncan Smith, Mark Gordon and Morgan Cockerham.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Riddle
Robert Riddle, 71
Funeral services for Robert Edward Riddle, 71, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 15 at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with the Revs. Malcolm Self and Tim Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Riddle died Jan. 13 at his home.
Born April 6, 1930 in Readhimer, he worked for United Gas for 16 years, was a grocery store owner, a contractor and developer and a farmer. He was a former mayor and alderman for the Town of Chatham, and a community leader in the Jonesboro and Chatham areas.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robin Riddle; his parents, Vester Riddle and Eula Swanner; and one brother, Don Riddle.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Turner Riddle of Jonesboro; daughter, Vickie Riddle Duke of Brandon, Miss.; sons, Gary Payne Riddle and wife Loretta of Maurice and Terry Wayne Riddle of Lafayette; sisters, Ruby Garner of Choudrant and Polly McCain of West Monroe; brothers, David Swanner and wife Mary of Monroe and Mike Swanner and wife Kathy of Springdale, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Frances Henry and husband E.L. “Bubba” of Baton Rouge and Annette Simmons of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Danny Garner, Patrick Henry, Trey McNabb, David Moore, Chad Simmons and Scott Swanner.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Robinson
Tom Robinson, 97
Memorial Services for Tom J. Robinson, 97, of Tyler, Texas were held Jan. 19 at the Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler with the Rev. Dr. Michael Dent officiating.
Mr. Robinson died Jan 15 in a Tyler hospital.
Born in Danville, he attended school in Danville and Jackson Parish. He also attended Tyler Commercial College, and in 1944 was one of the founders of Allied Oil Company, and he was active in the company until it sold in 1991. He was also a member of Marvin United Methodist Church for 75 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Allen and Nannie Brister Robinson; and his wife of 70 years Letha Hicks Robinson.
He is survived by his son, Thomas George Robinson and wife Molly of Tyler and many nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of the Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home of Tyler.

Tyler
Dovie Tyler, 88
Funeral services for Dovie Waller Tyler, 88, of Colfax were held Jan. 18 in the Chapel of Kramer of Colfax wit the Revs. Ron Perry and Dr. Gene Phillips officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Tyler died Jan. 15 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Winn Parish and lived in Colfax since 1956.She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Tyler; sons, Philip Tyler and Jimmy Charles Tyler; and her parents, Albert and Lena Kornegay Waller.
She is survived by daughters, Delores Tyler of Sapulpa, Okla. and Diane Tyler of Austin; sons, Gayle “Sonny” Tyler of Colfax, Stephen Tyler of Colfax and Stanley Tyler of Colfax; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Heath Tyler, Cody Tyler, Lance Tyler, James Tyler, Tim Tyler and Randy Tyler.
Services were under the direction of Kramer of Colfax.

Watson
Velton Watson, 58
Services for Velton Watson, 58, of Quitman were held Jan. 20 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ronnie Thompson, J.D. Ross and H.M. Roach officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Watson died Jan. 17 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
He was a faithful member of the Highway Chapel Church of God and chairman of its board of trustees. He was a butcher for many years, first at Big Star and currently at Karen’s Country Store. He also owned and operated Watson’s Deer Processing Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Izell and Cloteal Watson; daughter, Dana Kelly; and mother-in-law Lula Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Watson of Quitman; son, Craig Watson and wife Wendy of Quitman; uncle, D.Z. Boyd and wife Dot of Pineville; aunts, Maureen Boyd of Pineville and Wilma Walding; and three grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Huddleston, Bud Gains and Danny Huddleston.
Pallbearers were Mike Miles, Johnny Toms, Jeffrey Toms, Dale Huddleston, Michael Taylor , Bruce Whitman, Paul Johns and Larry Holers.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
