William Mathews, 82
Funeral services for William “Bill” Mathews were held Jan. 15 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Shreve and Dr. Don Doughty officiating. Burial followed at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Mathews died Jan. 12 at Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Mathews was retired from the State of Louisiana ’s highway department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Mathews.
He is survived by sons, John Mathews and wife Rita of Castor, Jerry Mathews of Calvin and Roy Lee Mathews and wife Wanda of Sikes; daughters, Mary Lee Wall and husband James of Calvin and Carolyn Jackson of Winnfield; brother, Sam Mathews of Quitman; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Theron Wall, Bradley Beats, Terry Bates, Charlie Clark and David Nunn.
Pallbearers were Wayne Wall, Peewee Wall, Tracy Mathews, Shannon Perot, Shane Mathews and Michael Mathews.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Myers
Levi Myers, 84
Funeral services for Levi David “Sonny” Myers, 84, of Chatham were held Jan. 10 at the Greater Apostolic Church in Chatham with the Rev. Doyle McManus officiating. Burial followed in the Olla Cemetery in Olla.
Mr. Myers died Jan. 8 at Lincoln General Hospital.
He was a truck driver.
He is survived by sons, Charles Myers of DeQuincy; Jimmy Myers and wife Brenda of West Monroe; sister, Cody Russell of Winnfield; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and special friend Shirley Wages and family.
Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta.

Peevy
Alice Peevy, 81
Funeral services for Alice Walsworth Walker Peevy, 81, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 10 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Peevy died Jan. 8 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born April 12, 1920 in Jonesboro, she was a housewife.
Mrs. Peevy was preceded in death by her husband, John Hayward Walker; sister, Martha Elizabeth Walsworth; and brothers, Charlie Albert “Buddy” Walsworth, Simon Paul “Tot” Walsworth and Will Elijah “Boy” Walsworth.
She is survived by son, J.H. Walker, Jr.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Cary Hinman, Bubba Pardue, Joey Pardue, Aaron Porter, Butch Porter and Jeremy Potts.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Benner
Jo Evelyn Benner, 86
Funeral services for Jo Evelyn Seymore Benner, 86, of DeRidder were held Jan. 4 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Joey Bignar and W.O. Busby officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Benner died Jan. 2 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1915 in Jonesboro, she was a retired retail clerk.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Barfield and husband Charles of DeRidder; son, Cary Seymore and wife Sandra of Jonesboro; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jack Bond, Charlie Busby, James Fitzpatrick, A.C. Ledford, Orvin Maxwell and Walton Reed.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Futrell
Gladys Futrell, 85
Funeral services for Gladys Valeria Futrell, 85, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 2 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Eugene Love and Les Webb officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mrs. Futrell died Dec. 31 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Feb. 2, 1916 in Luna, she was a retired registrar of voters.
She is survived by her son, Aubrey Futrell and wife Lesa of Jackson , Miss.; daughter, Gretta McCullin of Quitman; and five grandchildren.
The Jonesboro Masonic Lodge #280 members served as pallbearers.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Pardue
Roberta Pardue, 70
Memorial services for Roberta Darlene Pardue, 70, formerly of Jonesboro will be held Jan 12 at the Cashner Colonial Chapel at the Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas .
She died Jan. 5 in Montgomery, Texas .
Formerly of Jonesboro, Mrs. Pardue was born Aug. 6, 1931 in Chicksha, Okla.
She is survived by husband, Fred Pardue, of Montgomery; daughters, Pam Pearson of Salem, N.H., Jane Jacobson and husband Larry of Minneapolis, Minn.; son, Lee Pearson and wife Tami of Houston; sister, Ailene Hall and husband Duane of Houston; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were under the direction of Cashner Funeral Home of Conroe.

Sullivan
Christine Sullivan, 87
Funeral services for Christine H. Sullivan, 87, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 5 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Perry Lassiter and Dwayne Boudreaux officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan died Jan. 3 after a brief illness.
Born May 11, 1914 in Mashulaville, Miss., she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Sullivan, Sr.; her parents, W.K. and Leona Higginbotham; brothers, William, Paul and Grady Higginbotham; and sister, Bessie Reed.
She is survived by daughters, Louise Burnett of Memphis, Tenn. and Pauline Lochala and husband Roddy of Hamburg, Ark.; son, Clyde E. “Buster” Sullivan and wife Donna of Jonesboro; brother, Brooks Higginbotham of Shuqulak, Miss. and Kittrel Higginbotham of Greenwood, Miss.; sister, Annie White of Schobia, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Clyde Brinson, Hardy Carson, Delbert Clark, Bobby Folks, Robert Gammill, Robert Gaulden, Travis Hall, Randal Harrington, Edward Hughes, Wayne Lowe, Mike Miles, Jimmy Robinson, Bobby Schmidt, George Schmidt, Kenneth Sones and Bruce Whitman.Pallbearers were Burl Brashier, Tommy Holbrook, William Maxwell, Danny Modissette, Jackie Potts and Roger Young.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Williams
Jimmy Williams, 52
Funeral services for Jimmy Ray Williams, 52, of Quitman were held Jan. 1 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ray Spell and Donald Rudd officiating. Burial followed in the Ansley Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Dec. 30 at Schumpert Medical Center.
Born July 6, 1949 in Hodge, he was a machinist for Smurfit Stone Container. He was also in the National Guard.Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father, T.W. “Buster” Williams and two grandchildren, Jimi Rashel Miles and Chelsea Miles.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Spell Williams of Quitman; mother, Mary Alice Williams of Hodge; daughters, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Miles of Quitman and Emily Nicole “Nikki” Williams of Quitman; son, Jimmy Ray “J.R.” Williams, II of Quitman; sister, Patricia Ann Persons and husband Ricky of Jonesboro; brothers, Gary Williams and wife JoAnn of Witchita Falls, Texas , Eddie Williams and wife Terri of Quitman and Jamie Williams of Hodge; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Phillip Bradford, Butch Garner, Frank Johnson , Glen “Skeeter” McBride, Stacey Silmon, Joe Treadway, Sr., Chris Williams and Eric Williams.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Porter
Pinkey Porter, 92
Funeral services for Pinkey Leona Porter, 92, of Oak Grove were held Dec. 30 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Annie Farmer, James Allen and Carl Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Porter died Dec. 27.Born Sept. 10, 1909 in Mississippi, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband James Lewis Porter and one son, Bobby Porter.
She is survived by daughters, Dianne Allen of Carthage, Texas ; and Bonnie Hennigan and husband Shellie of Jonesboro; sons, J.L.Porter and wife Floy of Ruston and S.L. “Bo” Porter and wife Betty of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Brenda Porter; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
