William Sanford, 76
Funeral services for William James Sanford, Sr., 76, of Goldonna were held at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Doughty officiating. Burial followed in the Lynn Cemetery in Archibald.
Mr. Sanford died April 2 at Winn Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Louise Lynch Sanford of Goldonna; daughters, Christine McGrew and husband Harold and Stephanie Malone and husband Ralph, all of West Monroe; sons, Billy Sanford and wife Cindy of Jonesboro, Willie Sanford, Jr. and wife Kay of Goldonna and Steve Sanford and wife Karen of Deridder; sisters, Beatrice Copeland of Rayville, Audrey Fay Morgan of Magnolia, Ark., Shirley Mae Parker of Rayville and Myrtel Lou Peoples of Natchez, Miss.; brother, Billy Paul Sanford of West Monroe; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Justin McGrew, Patrick McGrew, Timothy McGrew, Neil Newman, Mike Spillers, Brandon Wheelis and Lee Wheelis.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Shackelford
Harold Shackelford, 72
Funeral services for Harold Junior Shackelford, 72, of Jonesboro were held April 5 at the McDonald Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Mims, Joe Arnold and Mack Alexander officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories in Jonesboro.
Mr. Shackelford died April 3 at the Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1929 in Monroe to Winnie and Otis Shackelford, he was a long-time resident of the Jonesboro area, and a member of the McDonald Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Jackson Parish Classic Antique Car Club as well. He retired from Stone Container in 1993 after 27 years of service to the Hodge Mill. He was a carpenter and a home builder most of his adult life. Mr. Shackelford was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951-1953. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and David Shackelford; and one sister, Dorothy Phillips.
Mr. Shackelford is survived by his wife, Faye Thomas Shackelford of Jonesboro; daughters, Terrye L. Stassen and husband Robert and Tami Strozier and husband Sammy, all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Samuel Thomas (Ty) Strozier, Robert Kyle Stassen and Ryan Keith Stassen, all of Jonesboro; sisters, Bernice Alexander of Jonesboro, Tressie Barnes of Huffman, Texas and Nelda Gay Shackelford of Houston; brothers, Lavon Shackelford of Lumberton, Texas and Roger Dale Shackelford and wife Nelda Gay of Glenmora; and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Martin, Murl Plunkett, Leslie Raborn, Wayne Raborn, Paxton Willis and Billy Ray Womack.
Pallbearers were Gerald Alexander, Mack Alexander, Norman Barnes, Gene Driggers, Lane Plunkett and Donald Lane Shackelford.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Shows
Nina Shows, 84
Funeral services for Nina Lloyd Shows, 84, of Jonesboro were held April 5 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy McBride officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Shows died April 3 at the Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was retired from the bag mill-Continental Can Corporation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Warren; sister, Gwen W. Mosley; brother, Hulen C. Warren; and grandson, Mitchel Roy Toms.
She is survived by her husband, W.D. “Dub” Shows of Jonesboro; son, Jack Womack and wife Lucille of Houma; daughters, Nita Toms of Winnfield, Mary Ann Miller of Ruston and Melba Thrift and husband Stanley of Wisner; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Taylor
Levis Taylor , 87
Funeral services for Levis Viola Taylor , 87, of Eros were held April 10 at the Greater Apostolic Church in Chatham with the Revs. Doyle McManus, Cornilus McManus and Sherwood Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor died April 7 at Forest Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was a member of the Apostolic Church and a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Heston Taylor .
She is survived by one son, Bobby Taylor and wife JoAnn of Hebert; brothers, the Rev. Cornilus McManus of Melville, Jessie McManus of Lake Charles, Jack McManus of Ruston, Clifton McManus of Pineville and Leslie McManus of Lake Charles; sisters, Clydie Mae Cotton of Shreveport, Lela Lenard of Monroe and Delia Page of West Monroe; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Donald Taylor , Terry Massey and William Massey.
Pallbearers were James Ray Page, Elmer Lee McManus, Sherman Martin, Allan Edwards, John Sedberry and Alex Peden.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Cockerham
James Cockerham, 71
Funeral services for James Morgan Cockerham, 71, of Jonesboro were held Nov. 27 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Lee and Marty Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Cockerham died Nov. 25.Born March 2, 1931 in Gaars Mill, he was a retired machine tender and a veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Cockerham of Jonesboro; daughter, Debbie Bryan and husband Vergil of West Monroe; sons, Phil Cockerham and wife Tina of Jonesboro and Mitch Cockerham and wife Kim of Quitman; and grandchildren, Chad Cockerham, Jamie Cockerham, Hannah Cockerham, Morgan A. Cockerham, Cameron Bryan, Madelyn Bryan, Lindsay Harrell and D.J. Harrell.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Wolf Stop Coffee Club.
Pallbearers were Carroll Hinton, Bobby Peel, Johnny Peel, Ricky Peel, Wilfred Peel, Winfred Peel and James Pierce.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Crumble
Johnnie Crumble, 72
Johnnie Crumble, Jr., 72, of Winnfield died Saturday, November 30, 2003 at Christus St. Frances Hospital in Alexandria, La. Memorial services will be a wake held Friday, December 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Winnfield, La. Funeral services will be held Satruday, December 7 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Olive Baptist Church. interment will follow in the Winnfield Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Ridgley Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La.
Mr. Crumble was born in St. Maurice, La. He grew up in Clarence, La. but resided in Winnfield, La. for the majority of his life. Mr. Crumble was well-known and respected in the community. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher and in many other departments for several years. He was also a member of the Flying Clouds, a Christian musical group. He was a self-employed businessman whose recent business was a bonding service. He served as Police juror in Winn Parish for District 2 for many years and was involved in many community organizations.
He was the son of the late Johnnie Crumble, Sr. and the late Alvainey (London) Crumble. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Erskin Crumble, Jessie Phillips and Eugene Naptles; two sisters, Vera McGraw and Dorothy Moore. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Moore Crumble; three children, Kelvin Crumble, Vanessa Crumble Smith and LaDella Crumble; one brother, Joe Bailey of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Cloteal Brown and Ezora Green, both of Phoenix, Ariz.

Norred
Lelar Norred, 81
Funeral services for Lelar B. Norred, 81, of Dodson were held at the Atlanta Cemetery with the Rev. Ted Sharbono officiating.
Mrs. Norred died Nov. 30 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born April 9, 1921 in Atlanta, she was a housewife.
She is survived by brothers, R.W. Ballio of Dodson and J.B. Ballio of Dodson; sister, Opal Thomisee and husband Jerry of Winnfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Speir
Hazel Speir, 72
Funeral services for Hazel Usrey Speir, 72, of Saline were held Nov. 29 at the Briarwood Baptist Church with the Revs. V.L. Montgomery and Roland Dobson officiating. Burial followed in the Strange Cemetery in Readhimer.
Mrs. Speir died Nov. 26 at Christus Coushatta.
Born Sept. 24, 1930 in Winnfield, she was a housewife and a member of the Briarwood Baptist Church since 1963.She is survived by her husband, J.W. Speir of Saline; sons, Rodger Dale Speir of Bossier City, Teddy Gene Speir and wife Binky of Natchitoches, Rickey Lynn Speir of Bossier City and Tommy James Speir and wife Wanda of Benton; brother, Jimmie Dale Usrey and wife Barbara of Winnfield; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Madden, Nicky Rowell, Mickey Usrey, Bob Worley and the deacons of Briarwood Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Chad Speir, Dale Speir, Daniel Speir, Matthew Speir, Ron Speir, Scott Speir and Jerry Usrey.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Stewart
Stella Stewart, 80
Funeral services for Stella Mae Stewart, 80, of Hodge were held Dec. 4 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Walsworth and David Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart died Dec. 3 at Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1922 in English Crossing, she was a retired clerk.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara Shows and husband Don of Dodson, Sandra Holden and husband John of Dodson, Diane Wheelington and husband Keith of Calhoun and Brenda Porter and husband Randy of Jonesboro; sons, Walter H. Stewart and wife Connie of Hodge and Johnny L. Stewart of Quitman; step-sons, J.W. Stewart, Jr. and wife Mary of Jonesville and William M. Stewart and wife Carolyn of Haughton; sister, Evie Bryant of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Knox, Dwayne Mitchell and Jeff Shows.
Pallbearers were Joey Browning, Chris Lowe, Brad Porter, Nick Porter, Thomas Stevenson and Michael Stewart.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
