Dozier
Sanford Dozier, 62
Funeral services for Sanford “Sandy” Dozier, 62, of Eros were held Nov. 26 at the Chatham Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Chatham Cemetery.
Mr. Dozier died Nov. 24 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Arcadia after a short illness.
He was a saw filler and a member of the Chatham Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Dozier; and by one brother and sister.
He is survived by brother, Hillery D. Dozier and wife Velda of West Monroe; sister, Laura Thornton of Eros; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
McDonald
William McDonald, 86
Funeral services for William Roy “Billy” McDonald, age 86, of Jonesboro were held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Clyde W. Averitt and Rev. Wayne Howington officiating. Burial was at Jonesboro Cemetery
under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Mr. McDonald died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at Jackson Parish Hospital. He was a retired banker. He was born July 25, 1916 in Jonesboro, La. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and the LSU School of Banking of the South. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. “Mr. Billy” was a former officer and director of the Jackson Parish Bank where he was employed for fifty-five years. He was a member of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church. He previously served on the Jackson Parish Library Board, was a member of the Louisiana Bankers Association and was active in other civic and community organizations through the years. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was co-owner of McDonald Farms. Mr. Billy was an avid golfer and a member of the Advance Country Club of Hodge, La.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Taylor McDonald.
He is survived by three daughters, Roseann M. Alexander and husband Junior of Powder Springs, Ga., Robin M. Toms and husband Emery of Hodge, La., Melinda M. Hebert and husband Barry of Slidell, La.; sister, Louise M. Brooks of Jonesboro, La.; five grandchildren, Amanda Alexander of Atlanta, Ga., Justin and Zachary Toms of Hodge, La. and Ashley and Taylor Hebert of Slidell, La.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles H. “Doc” Garrett, Melvin D. Cohen, John D. Holland, Donald Lindsey, W.C. “Woody” McDonald, Jr., Danny Modisette, Samuel David Walsworth and Directors, Officers and Employees of Jackson Parish Bank.
Pallbearers were Jim Beal, Eddie Gatlin, G.H. “Buddy” Gill, Eddie Langston, Dr. James C. “Jimmy” McDonald, Michael McDonald and Jimmy Morris.
Memorials may be made to the Jackson Parish Library or the Jonesboro United Methodist Church.
Ott
Billy Ott, 72
Funeral services for Billy Eugene Ott, 72, of Jonesboro were held Nov. 23 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Paul Bradford and David Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Mr. Ott died Nov. 21 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1930 in Jonesboro, he was a retired powerhouse operator for the mill.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Ott.
He is survived by his wife, Edwina Ott of Jonesboro; sons, Larry Ott and wife Renea of Jonesboro, Kenneth Ott and wife Shannon of Jonesboro and Jeff Ott and wife Donna of Quitman; sister, Lennie Blair and husband Dan of Odessa, Texas ; seven grandchildren, Larry Wayne Ott, Jr., Misty Barton, Chad Harvey, Michelle Ott, Daniel Ott, Melissa Carol Utt and Tyler Treadway; and two great-grandchildren, Tristen Barton and Ariel Ott.
Pallbearers were John Townley, Bobby Brinson, Houston Robertson, R.C. Martin, Cody Cheatwood and Larry Lowery.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Upshaw
Travis Upshaw, 79
Funeral services for Travis Upshaw, 79, of Hodge were held Nov. 21 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Lutrick and E. D. Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Upshaw died Nov. 18 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Jan. 27, 1923 in Bienville, he was a retired oiler from the paper mill.
He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Ray Upshaw.
He is survived by his wife, O.V. Upshaw of Hodge; son, George Upshaw and wife Nancy of Bienville; sisters, Lois Boddie of Arcadia, Barbara Jane Lester of Coushatta and Louise Strain of Hodge; brother, Earl Upshaw of Coushatta; seven grandchildren, Mike Upshaw, Tina Bolyer, Robin Upshaw, Angie Lester, Jennifer Hay, Shannon Upshaw and Joshua Upshaw; 14 great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lester, Dusty Lester, Brooklyn Lindsey, Bobby Lindsey, III, Daniel Wood, Sarah Wood, Candi Lester, Shelbi Upshaw, Hannah Upshaw, Calip Bolyer, Jr., Colton Upshaw, Jada Lester, Karlee Brymer and Dee Dee Temple; one great-great-grandchild, Cailynn Temple; and sister-in-law, Brenda Upshaw of Longview, Texas .
Pallbearers were Mike Upshaw, Wes Smith, Shannon Upshaw, Buddy Perry, Barry Brymer and LaDon Gilbert.

Priscilla Vail, 72
Funeral services for Priscilla Elaine Vail, 72, of Campti were held at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Self officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Olive East Cemetery.
Mrs. Vail died Nov. 23 at Willis Knighton Hospital.
Born Sept. 1, 1930 in Quitman, she was a housewife.
Mrs. Vail was preceded in death by one son, James Douglas Vail, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, J.D. Vail of Campti; daughters, Vickie Delane Crow and husband Ronald of Hemphill, Texas , Beverly Kaye Donald and husband Michael of Campti and Wanda Lane Provance and husband Stanley of Jakarta, Indonesia; sons, Douglas Lynn Vail of Campti and James Steve Vail and wife Patricia of Plano, Texas ; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason Baker, Ronald Crow, Dustin Kyle Provance, David Douglas Vail, Brian Thomas, Phillip Wise, Chris Clement, Martin Crow and Ryan Peace.

Brenda Watson, 58
Funeral services for Brenda Sue Kelley Watson, 58, of Jonesboro were held Nov. 26 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. R.P. Willis and H.M. Roach officiating. Burial followed in the Zion Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson died Nov. 23 at her home.
Born Nov. 25, 1943 in Dubach, she was a housewife and preceded in death by her father, Lodess Kelley.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin “Sonny” C. Watson of Jonesboro; daughter, Sabrina Kelley Watson McDonald and husband Nathan of Jonesboro; son, Sonny DeWayne Watson and wife Stacey of Jonesboro; mother, Maxine Horton Kelley of Quitman; sister, Kimberly K. Burns and husband Keith of Quitman; brothers, Danny Max Kelley and wife Eva, Johnny Kelley and wife Sarah of Quitman, Rodney Kelley of Quitman and Steve Kelley and wife Irma of Quitman; and four grandchildren, Kristopher Watson, Marley Watson, Zachary Watson and Logan McDonald.

Evans
Pauline Evans, 92
Funeral services for Pauline Marie Evans, 92, of Quitman were held Nov. 13 at the Highway Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Ronnie Thompson officiating. Burial followed in the Bear Creek Cemetery
in Bryceland.
Mrs. Evans died Nov. 11 at Pinehill Nursing Home.
Born June 3, 1910 in Bienville, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her son, James A. Cummings and one grandson, James Randall Cummings.
She is survived by her husband Francis W. “Gook” Evans of Quitman; grandchildren, Don Cummings of Port Barre, Jim Cummings of Port Barre and Cindy Thompson and husband Bob of Shreveport; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Alexander, Rodney Alexander, David Earl Brown, Jerry Brown and William Ed McConathy.
Pallbearers were Scott Brown, Steven Brown, Buster Poland, Kevin Poland, Rusty Poland and Rob Thompson.

Erma Hood, 85
Funeral services for Erma Friday Hood, 85, of Saline were held Nov. 19 at the Old Saline Baptist Church with the Revs. Calvin Hubbard and Stan Foster officiating. Burial followed in the Old Saline Cemetery.
Mrs. Hood died Nov. 17 at Healthsouth North Louisiana Rehabilitation Hospital.
Born Oct. 13, 1917 in Readhimer, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie C. and Cleo Friday; husband of 50 years, Howard R. “Sam” Hood; son, Billy Howard Hood; sister Margueritte Lafiette; and brother, Lowell Friday.
She is survived by sons, Bobby L. Hood and wife Pricilla of Shreveport, Johnny R. Hood of Saline and Freddie Hood and wife Wanda of Saline; daughters, Betty Warren and husband Jerry of Saline, Carolyn Walsworth and husband Wesley of Jonesboro; brother-in-law, Jack Lafiette of Shreveport; special family friend, Mary Jones; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers were John Blalock, B.J. Hood, Josh Hood, Jack Lafiette, Howard Walsworth and Barry Warren.

Kelly
Jerry Kelly, 69
Funeral services for Jerry Edwin Kelly, 69, of Austin, Texas , formerly of Hodge will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 23 at the Hodge United Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery
in Antioch.
Mr. Kelly died Nov. 5 in his home after a brief illness.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a retired acupuncturist in Austin.
He is survived by his wife, Rene Kelly; children, Phyllis Kelly, David Kelly, Mike Kelly and wife Jennifer and Kim Kelly Alvey and husband Bill; step-children, Jody Pounds, Mandy Vana, Cheryl Schier Van Dame; brothers, Gerald, Benny, Glen, Randall and Buddy; sisters, Peggy, Elizabeth and Jo; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
