Mary Higdon, infant
Graveside services for Mary Patricia Higdon, the infant daughter of Mark Higdon and Amanda Andrews of Downsville, were held Sept. 22 at the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Hill
Tillman Hill, 73
Funeral services for Tillman “Buddy” Hill, 73, of Homer were held Sept. 18 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Gilbert officiating. Burial followed in the Concord Cemetery in Chatham.
Mr. Hill died Sept. 16 in Homer after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Richardson; and two sisters, Dorothy Barnett and Clover Dale Sparkman.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Hill of Homer; daughter, Vickie Aulds of Chatham; sister, Doris Chambers of Independence; and one grandson, Robert Wayne Aulds.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Jaggers
Iva Jaggers, 79
Funeral services for Iva Theodosia Jaggers, 79, of Jonesboro were held Sept. 25 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herb Dickerson officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery.
She died Sept. 21 at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1922 in North Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Jaggers was a retired teacher.
She is survived by her daughter, Reita Brown and husband Douglas of Jonesboro; sister, June Patterson and husband Gus of Monroe; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Lewis
Louise Lewis, 83
Funeral services for Louise Solomon Lewis, 83, were held Sept. 7. She died Sept. 3.Mrs. Louise Solomon Lewis was born March 31, 1919 in Perryville, La. Her adoptive parents were William and Corean Solomon. She was converted and baptized as a child at St. Matthew Baptist Church, Mer Rouge, La.
She attended elementary and secondary schools in Morehouse Parish. Mrs. Lewis graduated from Grambling College with a bachelor of science degree. Her services as dormitory matron, teacher and mentor molded the lives of many students. Mrs. Lewis was employed by the Jackson Parish School System for 25 years. She was a member of local, state and national associations of education.
Mrs. Lewis was an active member of the Brown Grove Baptist Church until her health started failing. She was a member of Union Star Chapter No. 68 Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary Ceasar Post No. 527 and Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
Mrs. Lewis was married to C.C. Lewis for 57 years, before he preceded her in death, May 22, 2000. She is survived by three daughters, Annie Lewis Mouton, Cora Lewis-Calahan and Marion Lewis-Bradford; four grandchildren, Thomas Rodney Bradford, Xanthia Denise Calahan, John Van-Caldwell Mouton and Landon Raynard Calahan; four great-grandchildren, Christian, Jasmine, Alize’ and Shyla; one brother-in-law, O.J. Lewis; one granddaughter-in-law, Rowanda Bradford; two sons-in-law, Johnnie A. Mouton and Tommy L. Bradford, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Richardson
Doug Richardson, 75
Memorial services for Doug Richardson, 75, will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Barksdale Federal Credit Union in Hodge. The Rev. Roy Moore of the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop will officiate.
Mr. Richardson died Sept. 2 in Birmingham, Ala. after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Richardson was a graduate of Louisiana State University. He held a degree in psychology and counseling. He was later ordained as a Methodist minister, serving church for more than 10 years in various Louisiana towns. He operated the “Coffee Shop” in the Hodge Shopping Center from 1983-89.He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Edna Richardson of Hodge.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Richardson; daughters, Kim Wells and Michelle Waldrop, both of Birmingham, and Shelly Ramsey of Columbia, Ala.

Roden
Bobby Roden, 50
Funeral services for Bobby DeLane Roden, 50, of Ruston were held at the North Hodge Assembly of God on Sept. 21 with the Revs. Forrest Hall and Gene Cumpton officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Mr. Roden died Sept. 19 at Lincoln General Hospital.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Roden of Ruston; parents, E.W. and Ernestine Roden of Hodge; daughter, Misty Roden of Ruston; sons, Bobby Chad Roden and wife Erin of Mesquite, Tex. and Jamie Williams and wife Noe of Jonesboro; brother, Ernie Roden and wife Helen of Ruston; and four grandchildren, Zachary Kyndal, Alisa and Reagan.
Honorary pallbearer was George Upshaw.
Pallbearers were Ted Bosch, Tommy Stewart, Mike Peters, John Dankert, Randy Porter, Robbie Valentine and Richard Townley.Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hendry
Charles Hendry, 43
Funeral services for Charles Edward “Eddie” Hendry, 43, of Jonesboro were held Sept. 14 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bignar officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Hendry died Sept. 11 at his home.
Born July 5, 1959, he worked for the sheriff’s department.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Lavelle Goss and Clarence “Butch” Goss of Jonesboro; step-mother, Doris Hendry of Benton; brother, Jeffrey Goss of Jonesboro; step-brothers, Philip Upshaw of Shreveport and Richard Upshaw of Jupiter, Fla.; and step-sister, Sarah Richardson of Shreveport.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Department.
Pallbearers were Chad Caskey, David “Hoot” Caskey, Jay Caskey, Matt Caskey, Sean Caskey and Mark Treadway.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Willett
Mary Willett, 72
Waskom, TX - Mary Margaret Mullinax Willett, loving wife and mother, Passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on Aug. 1, 1930.She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Halley Mullinax; her sister, Sara Anderson; and her first husband, Bill Duke.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Robert P. Willett; son, Robert Claude Duke of Waskom, Texas ; son, Jim Willett and wife, Olga, also of Waskom; daughter, Sallie Meshell of Shreveport; and grandson, Dakota Meshell. Survivors also include one sister, Claudia and husband Bill Long; and nieces Lea and Holly of Tyler; nephew, Ben Anderson and wife Cecilia of Houston, Texas .
Mary had chosen to dedicate her body to science; therefore, there were no funeral services. Friends who wish to honor her memory may make a donation to the charity of their choice. The family received friends on Sunday, Sept. 15 in the family home to honor the memory of Mary’s life.

Blalock
R.B. Blalock, 89
Funeral services for R.B. Blalock, 89, of Quitman were held Sept. 5 at the Quitman Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Morrow, C.C. Milstead and A.H. Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Blalock died Sept. 1 at Forest Haven Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 19, 1912 in Quitman, he was a retired welder.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Head Blalock and six siblings.
He is survived by daughters, Gwendolyn Loe and husband Bob of Mesquite, Texas , and Carolyn Sue Moore and husband Kerry of West Monroe; sister, Ruby McConathy of Quitman; granddaughters, Tabitha Heppel of Frisco, Texas , Stephanie Loe of Mesquite and Vanessa McDonald of Watauga, Texas ; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Grace McDonald of Watauga.
Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie Malone and the Men’s Sunday School Class and Deacons of Quitman Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Charles Blalock, Jimmy Blalock, Jody Edminston, Bobby Miller, Richie Schimmel and Tony Tyron.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Fullerton
James Fullerton, 92
Funeral services for James Isaac Fullerton, 92, of Jonesboro were held Sept. 4 at the Jonesboro United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmie Pyles and David Dietzel officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Fullerton died Aug. 31 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.Born March 7, 1910 in Winnfield, he was a retired maintenance supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Moffett Fullerton.
He is survived by sons, Edgar Max Fullerton of Shreveport, James Rodney Fullerton of Jackson ville, Fla. and Jerry Glen Fullerton of Quitman; daughter, Martha Clair Loar of Shreveport; brother, Bob Fullerton of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason Bell, Brad Fullerton, Greg Fullerton, James Loar, Jason Loar and John Loar.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hanna
Cora Hanna, 58
Funeral services for Cora Paulette Gaines Hanna, 58, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Joensboro, were held Sept. 6 at the Central United Methodist Church in Springdale with the Revs. Johnny Sisemore and Billy Burks officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mrs. Hanna died Sept. 2 at Fayetteville City Hospital.
Born July 8, 1944 in San Jose, Calif., she was the daughter of William R. and Leola Eubanks Gaines. She was a licensed practical nurse at Fayetteville City Hospital and attended Faith Assembly of God Church in Springdale.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Hanna of Springdale; son, Jeff Hungate of Fayetteville; daughter, Cristina Kilgore of Fayetteville; her parents; brothers, Eugene Gaines of Prairie Grove and Ronald Gaines of Springdale; sister, Anita Warren of Biloxi, Miss.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
