Frances Robinson, 73
Funeral services for Frances Robinson, 73, of Danville were held Feb. 15 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Robert Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Danville Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinson died Feb. 13 after a long illness.
Mrs. Robinson was an accountant and income tax preparer for more than 40 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher at Friendship Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Robinson Williams and sister, Mary Alice Drummond.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Robinson of Danville; son, Joseph Robinson and wife Kathy of Jonesboro; brothers, James E. Elkins and wife Annie of Jonesboro and Henry Elkins an wife Edna of Ormond, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Shows
Agnes Shows, 66
Funeral services for Agnes Laverne Shows, 66, were held Feb. 17 with Freddie Shows and Edwin Davis officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Shows died Feb. 14 at her home in Jonesboro.
She was a clerk at Stone Container and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Shows; son, James Melvin Shows; and grandson, Charles “Bubba” Decker.
She is survived by sons, Freddie Shows and wife Tammy of Jonesboro and Melvin G. Shows of Jonesboro; daughter, Dianne L. Decker of Jonesboro; brothers, James Seley of Hodge and Herman Smith of Knob Noster, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Scott Walker, Scott Otwell, Charles Norred, Sonny Stephens, Vernon Hale and Terry Council.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Sims
Stephanie Sims, 29
Stephanie Pepper Sims, age 29 of Ruston, LA, was born October 29, 1973, in Jonesboro, LA, and died Sunday, January 5, 2003.Services were held Sunday, February 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, LA under the direction of Edmonds Funeral of Jonesboro, LA. Dr. Matthew Wohlfarth and Dr. Herb Dickerson officiated the service. Speakers were Cherie’ Garrett Bosch, lifelong friend and Pamela Crumb, co-worker at La. Tech University. The music was provided by the vocal ensemble “Lagniappe” of which Stephanie was a former member. The beautiful music was coordinated by Betty DeCou and Debra Fordham. Burial was in the Garden of Memories in Jonesboro, LA.
Survivors include husband, David Sims of Ruston, LA; and parents, Howard and Barbara Pepper of Jonesboro, LA.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, L. C. and Essie Pepper and her maternal grandparents, Jessie and Gladys Alford. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, LA. She was a graduate of Cedar Creek High School of Ruston, LA. She graduated summa cum laude from University of Louisiana at Monroe where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1995 and Master of Arts Degree in Gerontology in 1997. In August of 2001 she received a Master of Arts in English from Louisiana Tech University with a concentration in composition and technical writing. She was named an Outstanding Undergraduate and Graduate Student at Louisiana Tech University in 1993 and 2001, respectively. She was President of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society; Graduate Teaching Assistant; Assistant to the Director of Freshman Composition, and Head Tutor during 2001 at Louisiana Tech University.
Her editorial experience included Editorial Assistant for the Journal of College Writing and was Editor of the Louisiana Tech University Freshman Course Packet and Writing Center Tutorial Manual. Her paper, “Resources on Plagiarism: Current Issues and Resources on Plagiarism Bibliography” was published in the Active Voice Newsletter. She made numerous professional presentations for the Louisiana Association for College Composition and the South Central Writing Center Association.
She was presently teaching English courses at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, where currently she was Research Associate for La. Regional Folklife Program. She was a newly elected member of the North Central Louisiana Arts Counsel. She loved learning, and was an avid reader. She was very devoted to her students and loved teaching. Pallbearers were Clay Carroll, Todd Culpepper, Trey Gibson, Jeremy Lawrence, Daniel Shockley and Genaro Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, LA.

Castello
James Castello, 89
Graveside services for James Elmo Castello, 89, of Minden were held Feb. 5 at Jonesboro Cemetery with Bro. Dwayne M. Boudreaux officiating and burial following.
Mr. Castello died Feb. 1 at Forest Haven Nursing Home.
Born August 17, 1913, in St. Petersburg, Fla., he was a retired switchman for Bell Telephone Co., and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a past master and member of the Masonic Lodge #51 in Minden.
He is survived by sons James Elmo Castello Jr. of Orlando, Fla; Wayne Preston Castello of Gainesville, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Erwin
Corine Erwin, 84
Funeral services for Corine H. Erwin, 84, of Longview, Texas , were held Feb. 3 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Rev. Billy Ford officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Park.
Mrs. Erwin died Jan. 31 in a Longview, Texas , hospital. Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Chatham, Mrs. Erwin was a loving wife, a homemaker and a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. and Sally Walker, and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, John H. Erwin, Jr. of Longview, Texas ; special niece, Teresa Hicks of Jonesboro, and a number of other nieces and nephews.Pallbearers were Tom Erwin, Kent Erwin, Ronnie Tolar, M.G. Erwin, Jimmie Hicks and Steve Porter.
Services were under the direction of Leroy Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas .

Holton
Roxanna Holton, 83
Funeral services for Roxanna Elaine Holton, 83, of Eros were held Feb. 12 at the Christ Community Church in Eros with Elder Ellis Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Christ Community Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Holton died Feb. 10 at Landmark Nursing Center in West Monroe after a long illness.
Mrs. Holton was preceded in death by her husband William Elchoe Holton.
She is survived by son, Kevin Holton of Eros; special grandchildren, Jimmy Adams and wife Robin of Spring, Texas and Mike Adams and wife Vickie of West Monroe; nine other grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Adams, Mike Adams, Skeeter Yeager, Roy Rogers, Devon Yeager and Robert Robinson.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Meyers
Nelda Meyers, 75
Funeral services for Nelda Mae Meyers, 75, of Quitman were held Feb. 9 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Stevenson and Dudley Poda officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Meyers died Feb. 7 at Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born March 26, 1927 in Quitman, she was a housewife.
She is survived by son, Ronnie Meyers of Quitman; daughter, Sharon Meyers of Quitman; step-children, Randy Davis and wife Rene of Quitman; and grandchild, Nicholas Davis of Quitman.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Harvey, Duckie Mathis, Chris Roane, Donnie Blalock, Rusty Schoonover and Lamar Anderson.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Nardone
Danielle Nardone, 33
Danielle Taylor Nardone, 33, beloved wife of Jeff Nardone of Duluth, Ga., went to be with the Lord Feb. 3. Services were held Feb.8 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jonesboro with interment following in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Nardone graduated in 1987 with honors from Weston High School and with honors from the College of Nursing at Northeast Louisiana State University in 1991. She worked as a registered nurse at Glenwood Medical Center in Monroe, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, and most recently at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Tommy Conn and her grandfather, Basil Conn. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; parents Jack and Eileen Taylor of Jonesboro; sister Carrie Taylor of Atlanta, Ga.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Joe and Jane Nardone of Avondale Estates, Ga.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jay and Kristen Nardone of Dunwoody, Ga.; maternal grandmother Margaret Conn of Jonesboro; paternal grandparents H.J. and Flora Taylor of Dodson; two nephews, A.J. and Nathan Nardone of Dunwoody, Ga.; aunts and uncles Nancy and Dennis Harberson, Sandra and Duane Hale, Debbie and Roy Parker, Shirley and Ernest Tubbs; and numerous cousins. Pallbearers were David Conn, Shane Hale, Wesley Hale, Heath Billberry, Jeremy Burns and Joe Wilson. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the many churches and friends who prayed tirelessly for Danielle to be healed. Although not seen by us, we know that today her body is perfect in every way as she stands in the presence of God and the splendor of Heaven.

Peel
Ollie Peel, 94
Funeral services for Ollie Mae Peel, 94, of Jonesboro were held Jan. 17 at Beech Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Jinks officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery in Quitman.
Mrs. Peel died Jan. 15 at Jackson Parish Hospital. Born May 30, 1908, in Jonesboro, she was a loving mother, homemaker, and retired lunchroom worker. She was a lifelong member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Peel is survived by daughter Elaine Pierce and husband James, and daughter Sue Cockerham, all of Jonesboro; daughter Alice Hinton and husband Carroll of Sulphur; son Winfred Peel and wife Juanita of Jonesboro; son Wilfred Peel and wife May of Boyce; son Bobby Peel and wife Inell of Pineville; son Johnny Peel and wife DeLane of Sulphur; son Ricky Peel and wife Yvonne of Jonesboro; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Peel’s grandsons.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Pinckard
Lawrence Pinckard, 82
Funeral services for Lawrence Screven Pinckard Jr., 82, of Bienville were held Feb. 11 at the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert R. Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Pinckard died Feb. 8 at Healthsouth North Louisiana Rehabilitation Hospital.
Born July 8, 1920 in Montgomery, he was a retired storeowner.
Mr. Pinckard was a member and deacon of the Friendship Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Caroline Dorman Nature Preserve and a member of the Bienville Depot Museum.
He is survived by sons, George Pinckard and wife Paula of Bienville and John Pinckard and wife Sandra of Winnsboro; brother, Benjamin Pinckard and wife Delores of Colfax; grandchildren, Christy Pinckard of Winnsboro, Matthew L. Pinckard of Bellevue, Neb. and Elizabeth Pinckard Morgan and husband Charles Jeff of Long Beach, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Malvin Hall, W.E. Barron Jr., Tim Andrews, Harold Bond, Andy Hall and Rand Knotts.
Pallbearers were Wayne Durbin, Charles Barron, Jody Hall, Talton Barron, Billy Lewis and Kyle Leach.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
