Futrell
Christopher Futrell, 32
Funeral services for Christopher Micheal Futrell, 32, of Denham Springs were held June 19 at the Gayla Traina Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Gann officiating.
Mr. Futrell died June 16 at his home.
Born Jan. 9, 1972 in Ruston, he was a plumber’s helper.
He is survived by his father, Aubrey Futrell Jr. and wife Lisa of Brandon, Miss.; mother, Brenda Banard of Dutchtown; and sisters, Amanda Futrell and Stephanie Futrell, both of Walker.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Mason, Jason Womack, Justin Medaries, Jeremy Mitchell, Damion Shively, Trey McCullin, Patrick Treadway and Kevin Babers.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Lowery
John Lowery, 94
Funeral services for John Henry Lowrey, 94, of North Hodge were held June 10 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stuart Toms officiating. Burial followed in the Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mr. Lowrey died June 8 at his home.
Born Jan. 16, 1910 in Atlanta, La., he was a retired fork truck driver.
He is survived by his wife Jimmie Lee Lowrey of North Hodge; daughter, Murlene Fitzpatrick and husband Leon of Jonesboro; sons, Henry E. “Hank” Lowrey and wife Dorothy of Jonesboro and Walter Lee Lowrey and wife Phyllis of North Hodge; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Will McConathy, Winston Allen, Thurston Allen, Chris Maxwell, Roger Young and Travis Reed.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Caraway
Charles Caraway, 72
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles R. Caraway, 72, of Overland Park, Kansas Passed away on July 13, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. Funeral Services were held July 19, 2004 at St. Thomas The Apostle in Overland Park, with burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society/Pancreatic Research.
Charles is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a BS in Education and he obtained his Masters of Education from Northwestern Louisiana University.
Charles was born in Jonesboro on Feb. 21, 1932 to George and Winnie Caraway. After a decorated, 25-year career in the U.S. Air Force, he and Carol settled in Overland Park in 1985. Charles’ career in the U.S. Air Force was spent in the Strategic Air Command, where he served as a Missile Launch Officer, Operations Officer, Squadron Commander, Battle Staff Commander on the SAC Airborne Command Post “LookingGlass” and Deputy Base Commander. He was decorated with several medals including United States Meritorious Service Award, AF Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award and a National Defense Service Medal. Charles also attended the United States Air War College in 1976.Charles was a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America and was a longtime member of both the Strategic Air Command Airborne Command Control Association and the Offutt Air Force Base Officers Club.
Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Caraway; daughter Suzanne Leland and her family, Megan and Tyler Hatcher, Brycen Rogers, Kellen Leland, Sidney Leland, great-grandson Brock Hatcher, all from the Knoxville, Tenn. area; son Brian and Megan Caraway and their children, Molly, Caitlin and Shannon from Burnsville Minn.; nephew Keith Hetrick of Shreveport.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents George and Winnie Caraway, Faye Caraway, stepmother, and brother Johnny Caraway.
Charles was a very special husband, father, grandfather and dear friend to many and will be greatly missed. His love for gardening, boating, fishing and sense of humor will live with us for the years to come.
Arrangements were made by D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel.

Gaines
Carolyn Gaines, 66
Funeral services for Carolyn Faye Gaines, 66, of Hodge were held July 17 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Michael Whitman and Perry Lassiter officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Gaines died July 15 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1938 in Shreveport, she was a retired dietary worker for Jackson Parish Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter, Angelita Lyttice “Tyee” Davis of Quitman; sons, Timothy Eugene Gaines and wife Elizabeth Ann of Monroe and Kirk Kent Gaines and wife Lisa of Jonesboro; brothers, Roy Whitman and wife Lynette of Jonesboro, Bruce Whitman and wife Ann of Jonesboro and Roger Whitman of Hodge; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Casey Davis, Kyle Davis, David Lamay, Darren Whitman, Michael Whitman and Stacey Whitman.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Shows
Burness Shows, 81
Burness V. Shows, 81, of Plant City, Fla. passed way June 20. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie E. and Julia Watts Shows of Weston and a brother, Hulon R. Shows. He is survived by his wife, Wynell Shows; two sons, Kenneth A. Shows and wife, Shuan, and Daniel V. Shows and wife, Janet; a sister, Murl Shows Ruddick; a brother, Everette W. Shows and wife, Leola; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shows was the previous owner of Burnies Auto Service in Tampa and was a veteran of World War II with the US Air Force. Funeral services were held June 23 in Tampa, Fla. at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, with interment following in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Carmichael
Bertha Carmichael, 58
Services for Mrs. Bertha Elaine Carmichael, age 58 of Jonesboro were held June 26 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Henderson officiating. interment was in Union Cemetery, near Arcadia, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Mrs. Carmichael died Monday, June 22, 2004 at Jackson Parish Hospital following a brief illness.Her parents, Walter R. and Bertha Baston Causey; sister, Neomia J. Buckelew; brothers, Marvin Ray Prine and Charles Lee (Big Boy) Prine preceded Mrs. Carmichael in death.
Mrs. Carmichael is survived by daughter, Cindy Charmaine Starnes and husband Steve of Newport, N.C.; sons, Marvin Lane Carmichael of Bluffton, S.C. and James Shackleford Carmichael III of Jonesboro; sisters, Bessie Lula Qualls of Jonesboro and Lindell Madge Knotts of Spokane, Wash.; brother, James (Punk) Causey of Ringgold; aunt, Aline Causey Dye of Jonesboro; grandchildren, John Maxwell Jr., Heath Clifton, Tiffany Carmichael, Dustin Carmichael and Heather Carmichael; many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Ben Clifton, Ricky Allan, Robert Austin, Dustin Carmichael, John Maxwell Jr., Heath Clifton, Olen Clifton and John Maxwell Sr.

Walsworth
Mildred Walsworth, 92
Funeral services for Mildred Downs Walsworth, 92, of Jonesboro were held June 4 at the Eros Methodist Church with the Revs. Cage McLemore and Elvin Wheelis officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery in Eros.
Mrs. Walsworth died June 2 at the Jackson Parish Hospital following a brief illness.
Her parents, Warren and Ada Downs; husband, Johnny T. Walsworth; sisters, Lena D. Wheelis and brother, Woodrow Downs, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Yeager and husband Keith of West Monroe; sister-in-law, Juel Chappell and husband Bill of Farmerville; nephews, Elvin Wheelis, Dale Wheelis, Robert Downs, Hollis Downs, Dewayne Yeager; nieces, Maxine Warren, Jane Watts, Charlotte Wheelis; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Dale Wheelis, Mike Wheelis, Eric Yeager, Adam Yeager, Matthew Robinson and Bill Wheelis.Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Fenn
Helen Fenn, 85
Funeral services for Helen Fenn, 85, of Chatham, were held 2 p.m., July 16 at First Baptist Church in Chatham. Rev. Johnny Smith officiated the service. interment followed in the Chatham Cemetery.
Mrs. Fenn was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Fenn, two sons, Marlin Fenn and James Fenn, and grandson Junior Wilson.
Survivors include her four daughters, Movaline Cedars of Columbia, Linda Skains of Jonesboro, Barbara Lestage of Chatham, Nellie Sharbone and husband James of Montgomery; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were T.J. Miller, Jody Miller, Nick Sims, Alex Robertson, Ronnie Parker and Barry Stewart.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Irvin
Maxine Irvin, 82
Funeral services for Maxine Irvin, 82, of Jonesboro, LA were held Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Edmonds Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. Robert K. Leach. interment followed at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Irvin Passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004, in Lincoln General Hospital. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country in WWII. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Irvin.
He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Agnes W. Irvin of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Deanna Parker and husband Dewayne of New Boston, TX; two great-grandchildren, Whitney and Hunter Parker of New Boston, TX; a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers were William Wheat and Harold Allen. Pallbearers were Kent McBride, Wade McBride, David Greer, Jack Branch, Larry Rhodes, Gerald Jones, Otto Friday and Charles Gilbert.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Ramsey
George Ramsey, 63
Services for George E. “Buddy” Ramsey, age 63 of Jonesboro were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Rhodes officiating. interment was in Springhill Cemetery near Jonesboro under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Mr. Ramsey retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport following a brief illness.
Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Gloria Batson Ramsey; daughter, Kim Anderson and husband Jamie of Tacoma, Wa; sister, Georgia Ramsey of Iowa; uncles Early Ramsey of Marksville, T.W. Ramsey of Baton Rouge and G.W. McKaskle of Shreveport; 5 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
