Funeral services for Edrie Aline Hay Murphy, 89, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 10 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wilson and Rev. Joey Bignar officiating. Burial followed in the Old Sparta Cemetery in Bienville. Mrs. Murphy Passed away Feb. 7 at Lincoln General Hospital. Born November 29, 1915, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood G. Murphy; parents, John and Corrie Hay; and three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Smith and husband Jimmie W. Smith of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Melinda Smith of Jamestown, Melanie Jordan and husband Joey of Jamestown, Tim Smith and wife Gina of Jonesboro, Joy Wilkerson of Jonesboro, and Wayne Anderson and wife Shelly of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, William Williamson of West Monroe, Melissa Williamson of Shreveport, Amanda Johnson and husband Jeffrey of Saline, Joey Jordan, Jr. and wife Beth of Jamestown, EmmaLee Tingle and husband Heath of Ashland, Logan Wilkerson of Jonesboro, and Kyle Wilkerson of Jonesboro; great-great grandchildren, Parker and Eli Johnson and Gage Jordan; sisters, Randa E. Price and husband Jerry of Jamestown and Sue Garris and husband I.S. of Ruston; brother, Hugh E. Hay and wife Janette of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Hay of Jonesboro, Nellie Upshaw of Jamestown, and Ruth Murphy of Jamestown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Joey Jordan, Jr., Joey Jordan, Sr., Tim Smith, Logan Wilkerson, Kyle Wilkerson, and Steve Stroud. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Ross
Theron Dyson "Fuzzy" Ross, 47
Funeral services for Theron Dyson “Fuzzy” Ross, 47, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 15 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Holton and Rev. Lamar Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories. Born, May 17, 1957, he was employed as a dozer operator.Mr. Ross was preceded in death by one son, Paul Timothy Hattaway; sister, Alfreda Gatlin; brother, James Wesley Ross; and his parents, Fred and Zalia Ross.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Ross of Jonesboro; daughters, Crystal Ann Ross of Choudrant and Sarah Alece Ross of Jonesboro; son, Jonathan Dean Ross of Hodge; sisters, Sue Folden and husband Glen of Winnfield, Patricia Ponder of Jonesboro, Laveda Richardson and husband Tom of Homer, and Sharon Bell and husband Lonnie of Quitman; brothers-in-law, Charles Johnson and wife Lori of Hodge and Lamar Anderson and wife Tammy of Dodson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Hodge and Kim Simms and husband Austin of Delhi; granddaughter, Jewel Elizabeth Ross and two special grandchildren, Dylan and Harley Tolar. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Bearden
Charlie Doyle Bearden, 67
Funeral services for Charlie Doyle Bearden, 75, of Winnfield were held Feb. 20 at Hodge United Methodist with Rev. James Simons officiating. Burial followed in the Hodge Cemetery. Mr. Bearden Passed away Feb. 17 at Winn Parish Medical Center. Born Sept. 28, 1929 in Dodson, he was tree surgeon.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna S. Gonzalez and husband John of Comfort, Texas and Rhonda G. Bearden of Joyce; sons, Steven D. Bearden, Sr. and wife Paige of Appleton City, Mo., Kenneth W. Bearden and wife Donna of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Jerry G. Bearden of Rogersville, Tenn.; sister, Ruby McManus of Monroe; brother, Issac Bearden of Dry Prong; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearer was Buddy Bearden. Pallbearers were Robert Bearden, Marcus Bearden, Steven Bearden, Sr., Steven Bearden, Jr., Josh Bearden, and Don Lester. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Brixey
Vernon Mayo Brixey, 87
Funeral services for Vernon Mayo Brixey, 87, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 22 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Cumpton officiating. Burial followed in the Gayla Traina Cemetery. Mr. Brixey died Feb. 19 at Lincoln General Hospital. Born Nov. 9, 1917 in Rosecreek, Ark., he was a retired commercial fisherman. He was formerly of Pine Bluff, Ark. and a member of the West Pine Bluff Church of God in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Brixey was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Johanna Brixey; daughter, Darlene Gunter; son, Jimmy Brixey; and four brothers and four sisters.He is survived by his wife, Pauline Smith Brixey of Jonesboro; daughter, Sharon Brixey Hasley and husband John R. of Jonesboro; sons, H.T. Brixey and wife Rebeca of Houston, Texas and Marvin D. Brixey and wife Debbie of Randlett, Okla.; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve Bittle, Duane Price, Toby Caskey, Darron Whitman, Jimmy Fisher, and Sonny Harper. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Johnson
Patricia McNeill Johnson , 67
Graveside services for Patricia McNeill Johnson were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2005 with Reverend Stuart Toms officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, LA.Mrs. Johnson , 67, of Deville died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. She was a life long florist in Jonesville and Natchitoches.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Harold E. Johnson of Deville; daughters, Millie Ann Burnum of Quitman and Melani Alwell of Deville; son, Patrick Johnson of Jonesville; two brothers, two sisters, and seven grandchildren.Friends called Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, February 18, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be C. B. Alwell, Joel Burnum, Jr., Glenn Davis, Jay Woods , Ryan Richard and Joe Burnum. Florence Elizabeth Kelly, 81
Funeral services for Florence Elizabeth Kelly, 81, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 16 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert K. Leach and Rev. James Gass officiating. Burial followed in the Harmony Grove Cemetery in Gaars Mill. Born Oct. 3, 1923, she was a housewife.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charles O. Kelly. She is survived by her sons, Charles Wayne Kelly and wife Louise of Gaars Mill and Phillip R. Kelley and wife Carolyn of Jonesboro; sisters, Vergie Mae Sullivan of Minden and Lessie Mae Wood of Shreveport, grandchildren, Sherry Kelly, Jeffrey Michael Kelly, Richard Todd Kelly, Melissa Dawn Pardue, and Sommer Smith; great-grandchildren, Danielle Kelly, Richie Kelly, Bailey Pardue, Caroline Smith, and Paige Kelly.Pallbearers were Todd Kelly, Jeff Kelly, Chris Smith, Reggie Pardue, Johnny Lewis Sullivan, and Butch Kelly.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Eula Mae Potts Tilley, 74
Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Mae Potts Tilley, 74, of Jonesboro were held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Nathan Luellen and Paul Watts officiating. Burial followed at the Gayla Traina Cemetery. Mrs. Tilley Passed away Monday, June 20, 2005 in Jonesboro.Born July 11, 1930 in Bienville, she was a housewife.
Mrs. Tilley is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mr. C. C. Tilley of Jonesboro; two daughters, Peggy Robinson and husband Glen of Jonesboro and Patsy Lee of Sulphur; three sons, Charles W. Tilley and wife Pam of Jonesboro, Robert Tilley of Jonesboro, and David Tilley and wife JoAnna of Jonesboro; five sisters, Docia Marie Smith of Bienville, Dorothy Lee Neely of Shreveport, Inez Sylvie of Campti, Helen Ruth Hughes of Coushatta, and Annie Belle Desadiere of Winnfield; two brothers, Elmer Potts, of Campti, and Hester Potts of Winnfield; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Jeffrey McBride, Paul Watts, Mike Wilson, Clay Garner, Brian Martin, Wayne Anderson and Tracy Mathews

Burk
David Andrew (Drew) Burk, 53
Funeral services for David Andrew (Drew) Burk, 53, former Zachary Chief of Police, will be held at Plains Presbyterian Church Saturday at 1:00 PM with Rev. Woody Markert officiating; assisted by Rev. Randy Lee and Bro. Russell Rhodes. Mr. Burk was a native of Zachary and had lived near Jonesboro for two years. Visitation was at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA on Friday, July 1, 2005 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and at the Plains Presbyterian Church in Zachary on Saturday, July 2, 2005 from 11:00 - 1:00 PM. A member of the Zachary Police Department for 21 years, Mr. Burk served as Chief of Police from 1998 until 2002. He was the co-developer of the East Baton Rouge Parish Enhanced 911 System. He was a graduate of and an instructor for the LSU Law Enforcement Academy. He was past president of the National Emergency Number Association and member of the Associated Public Safety Communications Organization. He was presently a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and formerly a lifelong member of Plains Presbyterian Church. One of the passions of his life was Civil War History and memorabilia and he generously shared his knowledge with many organizations and people throughout the state. He was not only a student of history, but also a collector. He served his country in the US Army in 1973-1974. He was a graduate of Zachary High School and attended LSU and Louisiana Tech.
Born January, 16, 1952, Mr. Burk died June 30, 2005. He is survived by his wife Sandra Tarver Burk of Chatham, LA; two daughters, Carlie Cresse and husband Brad and Haley Burk all of Baton Rouge, LA; mother, Jane Mills Burk of Zachary, LA; brother, William Jack Burk, Jr. and wife Jenni of Zachary, LA; sister, Mitzy Gregory and husband Alan of Zachary, LA; nephews, Ben Gregory and wife Marquetta, Shawn Gregory and wife Nicole, Will Burk, Evan Burk and wife Jennifer Burk, and great nephew, Kohen Gregory, his parents in law, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Tarver of Chatham, LA. He was preceded in death by his father William Jack Burk, Sr. Serving as pallbearers are Dr. Wayne Gravois, Dr. Martin Morris, Mr. Michael Cherry, Mr. Henry Martinez, Mr. Ronnie Albritton, Mr. Jerry Parker, Will Burk and Evan Burk.

Clark
Delbert S. Clark, 91
Funeral services for Delbert S. Clark, 91, of Quitman, were held July 1, 2005 at Hodge Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Rockett and Rev. Dwayne M. Boudreaux officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.Mr. Clark Passed away June 29 in Ruston. Born November 6, 1913 in Jonesboro, he was a retired supervisor for the Bag Mill. Mr. Clark was a member and deacon of the Hodge Baptist Church, and a member of the Jonesboro-Hodge Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Clark; his parents, Luther and Maudie Clark; one brother, Durwood Clark; and one sister, Wanda Turner. He is survived by one daughter, Carol Clark of Quitman; one son, Doug Clark and wife Linda of Chatham; two sister, Elaine Stewart of Shreveport, and Wilda Boone of North Hodge; two step- grandchildren, Chris Brady of Bowling Green, KY and Jason Brady of West Monroe. Pallbearers were Woody Clark, Gary Boone, Butch Garner, Stevie Turner, Travis Hall, and Delwyn Peters.

Dubois
Marie Dubois, 89
Funeral services for Marie Dubois, 89, of Jonesboro, were held June 29 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Herb Dickerson and Rev. Matthew Wolhfarth officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Ms. Dubois Passed away at Magnolia Estate in Lafayette. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and nursery worker for 50+ years. She was a member of WMU, she helped organize many of the ladies activities. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Jubileers.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Dubois and wife Edith of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Wendy Frye and husband Barry of Lewisville, Texas and Robert Dubois of Lafayette; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Lindsey Frye. Honorary pallbearers were all of the Deacons of First Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Gary Black, Jerry Shankles, Raymond Borland, Troy Kennedy, R. C. Martin, and Edward Rich. Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
