Janice Davis Bennett

MT. HERMON - Funeral services for Janice Davis Bennett, 54, a resident of Mt. Hermon are scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. John Suber, the Rev. Charles Borne and the Rev. Thomas L. Moore officiating.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow after 9 a.m. at the Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church until time of service.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Ms. Bennett died Saturday at her residence in Mt. Hermon. She was a member of the Mt.Hermon United Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Zena Jenkins Davis; two brothers, Charlie and Alcus Davis.

Survivors include four daughters, Remelda Kay Bennett Peters, Mont Belvieu, TX, Neva Lanan Bennett, Austin, TX, Th-Anh Ladawn Buhler, Varnado and Alene Laprece Bennett, Mt. Hermon; two granddaughters, Toya Peters and Tera Peters; three sisters, Sylvia Brooks, Bogalusa, Melda Faye Phelps, Columbia, MS and Sharon Ann Davis, Port Allen.

Ivy Allen Bennett

(Died Jan. 10, 2000)

MT. HERMON - Funeral services for Ivy Allen Bennett, 54, a resident of Mt. Hermon are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Crain Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Bushnell officiating.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home, continuing Friday after 8 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Pentecostal Church.

A farmer and a member of Mt. Hermon Pentecostal Church, he died Monday in Mt. Hermon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulon and Mae Bell Bennett; two brothers, Elrie and Issac Bennett.

Survivors include four daughters, Remelada Kay Bennett Peters, Mont Belvieu, TX, Neva Lannan Benett, Austin, TX, Thu-Anh Ladawn Buhler, Varnado and Alene Laprece Bennett, Mt. Hermon; two granddaughters, Toya Peters and Tera Peters; two brothers, Aaraon Bennett, Mt. Hermon and Wayne Bennett, Baker; five sisters, Menda Williams, Bogalusa, Ola Mae Miley, Franklinton, Lynell Theole, Slidell, Earline Sharp, Walker and Willie Bea Schilling of Mt. Hermon.

Elise Valine Blackwell

FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Elsie Valine Blackwell, 79, a resident of Franklinton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel at Crain Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Barlow, the Rev. Karl Tingle, Dr. Joe Baugh, and the Rev. Paul Brashier officiating.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today, continuing tomorrow after 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in the Ellis Cemetery, Crain Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Blackwell died yesterday at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Franklinton, where she served as Sunday School teacher for the three-year old department for 35 years and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.E. Sr. and Mima Knight; five brothers, Ralton Dare, Leroy, W.E. "Bill" Jr., Meadie, and James Latimore Knight; two sisters, Lillie Mae Pettitt and Willie K. Crain.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie "Jake" Blackwell, Franklinton; one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Jim Wilson, Franklinton; three grandchildren, Jade Wilson, Brittany Wilson and Cassidy Wilson; two sisters, Aline K. Smith and Velma C. Knight, both of Franklinton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernice Crawford Foster

(Died Jan. 6, 2000) ANGIE - Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Foster, 69, a resident of Angie, are scheduled for 1 p.m Wednesday at Center Baptist Church in Angie with the Rev. Sidney Jones officiating.

Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery, Cook-Richmond Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Foster, who died Thursday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center, was the daughter of the late Shelby Williams and Willie Mae Richardson. She was born on Feb. 6, 1930 in Angie. She was united in marriage to the late Rev. Aaron Crawford, and from this union, five children were born. In 1991, she was reunited in marriage to Robert Foster.

She joined the Center Baptist Church at an early age and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Later moving to Bogalusa, she joined the Sweet Beulah Baptist Church. Her dedication and faithful service to the church included her roles as choir member, member of Pastor Aide Club, member of the Missionary Society. At anytime day or night, if the phone rang, she was always there to comfort and offer her services. She was a strong Christian Soldier who touched the lives of many people and she will be dearly missed by all. Later in life she rejoined the Center Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Linwood Bolton where she served as a faithful member until her health failed.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Foster; a son, Shelby Peters, Bogalusa; four daughters, Jo Ann (Walter) Singleton, Monticello, MS, Lille B. Crawford, Picayune, Erica L. Crawford, Bogalusa and Tanya N. Crawford, Angie; a brother, Henry Jefferson , Angie; a sister, Lena Magee, Bogalusa; six grandchildren, Rick, Antonio, Christopher, Damon, Bria, and Erin; four great-great grandchildren; two special god-children, Edna E. Magee, Picayune and Elenora Raymond, Bogalusa; two step-children, Aaron Crawford Jr. and Luretha Dixon both of Stonewall, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Celma, J.D. and Curtis Williams, and a sister, Beatrice Tyson.

Jacob Lee Pack Sr.

(Died Dec. 3, 1999)

TICKFAW - Jacob Lee Pack Sr. age 43, died Friday at Memorial Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. He is a resident of Tickfaw and a native of Varnado. He was an operation specialists with Chevron U.S.A. Oil Company. He is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, attended Sunday School, supported other church projects and was a member of the brotherhood.

Funeral Services will be at Macedonia Baptist Church in Hammond on Friday at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 8-11 a.m. with the Rev. Willie Gable Jr. officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Sherre P. Pack; his mother, Caldonia Pack of Varnado; two sons, Jacob Pack II and Jomel D. Pack; five sisters, Josie Moses and Classie Pack of New Orleans; Rose (Tommy) Butler of Bogalusa; Emma Pack of Varnado and Victoria Pack of High Point, N.C.; four brothers, Richard E. Pack of Bogalusa; Jessie (Frida) Pack and Walter (Peggy) Pack of Varnado; Joseph (Mellow) Pack of Pensacola, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father, , Joseph Pack; and grandparents, Julius Smith Sr., Luhana Smith Busby, March Robinson and Cassandra Robinson.

The N.A. James Funeral Home of Hammond is in charge of arrangements.

Floyd L. "Bo" Neely

(Died Feb. 8, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Floyd L. Neely, 56, is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, the Rev. Elester Raines officiating.

Visitation is from 5:30-10 p.m. today at the funeral home and continues after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time for the service.

Burial will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Neely died Tuesday at his residence in Kenner.

He was a resident of Kenner for 40 years and he was also a member of the Iron Works local No. 58.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson D. Neely and a sister, Peggy N. Rollins.

Survivors include a son, Monte Neely, Raceland; two daughters, Karen Neely, Shreveport and Rachel Schamberger, Metairie; his mother, Reecie Neely, Rio; a brother, Charles Neely, Metairie; a sister, Barbara Borel, Rio; two grandsons, Drake Neely, Raceland and Jordan Schamberger, Metairie.

Bonnie Evalyn Hennick

(Died Feb. 10, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Bonnie Evalyn Hennick, 95, of Bogalusa, is scheduled tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Corse officiating.

Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and continues after 9 a.m. tomorrow until time of service.

Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery.

Mrs. Hennick died Thursday in Dixon Medical Hosptial, Covington.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hennick and a daughter, Harold Jean Hennick.

Survivors include a son, Roy Hennick, Tylertown, MS; two daughters, Geraldine Morris, and Ann Rollins, both of Bogalusa; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

David Wayne Brooks

(Died Feb. 8, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for David Wayne Brooks, 34, of Bogalusa, will he held at noon today in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, the Rev. Willie Pierce officiating.

Vistation was yesterday from 4:30 to 10 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alcuse Brooks.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Brooks, Franklinton; a step-son, John Brooks Jr., Tylertown; step-daughters, Lucy Brooks, Tylertown, Nichole Faye Brooks and Dixie Rene' Brooks, both of Franklinton; his mother Juanita Brooks, Bogalusa; three brothers, John Brooks Sr., Tylertown, Alcuse Wayne Brooks, Chalmette, and Huey Phillip Brooks, Tennessee; two sisters, Billie Faye Brooks, Bogalusa and Essie Mae Gros, Denham Springs; a nephew, John Phillip Brooks, Bogalusa and a niece, Earline Juanita Brooks, Bogalusa.

Eddie Jenkins

ROXBURG, MA - The funeral service for Eddie Jenkins, 74, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at J. B. Johnson Funeral Home in Roxberg, Mass.

Burial will be in the veterans plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Roxburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jenkins; his mother, Ida Jenkins; a nephew, Christopher Smith; and an uncle, Monroe Jenkins.

Survivors include three nieces, Barbara Morgan, Marilyn Hicks and Mary Ball, all of Bogalusa; a daughter, Delores Clark, Roxburg, MA; a sister, Mary (Nevel) Carson, Bogalusa; four nephews, Billy Ray Hariel, Nevel Carson Jr., Kiley Kilbourne, all of Bogalusa and Jewan Hariel, Gulfport, MS; three great-nieces, Keela Hicks, Kedra Hicks and Kyra Ball, Bogalusa; a great-great-niece, Diamond Ramsey, Bogalusa.

Adrian B. McCarty

BOGALUSA - A memorial service for Adrian B. McCarty, 85, is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Phillip Stagg officiating.

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCarty died Wednesday in Rest Haven Living Center.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shannon Fairley, Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Margaret Rogers, Bogalusa; and a numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church.

Magnolia "Maggie" Brown

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Magnolia "Maggie" Brown, 83, a resident of 915 S. Royal St., Bogalusa, is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow in Bogalusa, the Rev. Dr. Aaron Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in Sweet Valley Cemetery in Hub, MS. Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. today at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, followed by the family hour from 7-8 p.m. Mrs. Brown died Wednesday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Brown; a daughter, Catherine Moore; and a son, Johnny Ray Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Hollies Jean Preston, Bogalusa; a grandson, Derrick L. Preston, Bogalusa; a step-daughter, Clarissa James, Bogalusa; a sister, Nezie Vaught, St. Louis, MO; a brother, Leonard Mondy, Bogalusa; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mae Caves Barber

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Mae Caves Barber, 78, is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home, the Rev. Leon Hickman and the Rev. Joey Miller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-10 p.m. today at the funeral home and continues after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time for the final service.

Mrs. Barber died yesterday at her residence in Franklinton.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wilmer Corkern and Louis Delon Barber; a son James C. Corkern; two brothers, James Caves and Bill Caves; and a sister Marcus Corkern.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Ray and Ann Corkern, Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and David Bateman, Franklinton; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Athalie B. McCain

(Died Jan. 12, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Athalie B. McCain, 83, a resident of Bogalusa, who died today.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Robert McCain, Bogalusa; two step-sons, Ralph McCain, Bogalusa and Richard McCain, Angie; three nieces, Barbara Seal, State Line, Doris Seal, Angie and Louise Camp, Angie; two nephews, Eugene Seal and James Warner, Bogalusa; and a half-brother, Dalco Kennedy.
