Elmer Miley

(Died Jan. 9, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Elmer Miley, 78, a resident of Bogalusa are scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Tucker, the Rev. Carl Freeman, the Rev. Michael Benson and the Rev. Wesley Quave officiating.

Visitation is from 3:30-10 p.m. today, continuing tomorrow after 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in Carroll cemetery on the Pine-Varnado Highway.

Mr. Elmer Miley died Sunday in St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Coving-ton.

He was a native and resident of Washington Parish, a member of the Board of Trustees of Talley's Chapel United Pentecostal Church and a retired employee of Gaylord Box Factory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Miley and Lula Carroll Miley; a son, David E. Miley; and a brother, Lloyd Miley;

Survivors include his wife, Iva Jewell Hyde Miley, Bogalusa; three sons, Darrell and his wife Barbara Miley, Dalton Miley, Bogalusa, and Don and his wife Amy Miley, Bogalusa and Shreveport; a brother, R.V. Miley, Pine; two sisters, Delma Toney, Bogalusa and Mildred Owen, Bogalusa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Penny Lynn Jarrell

(Died Jan. 8, 2000)

ANGIE - Funeral services for Penny Lynn Jarrell, a resident of Angie are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lassley officiating.

Visitation was yesterday from 4-10 p.m. and continues today after 8 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will follow in Mustergound Cemetery.

Ms. Jarrell died Saturday at University Hospital in New Orleans. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, Hattiesburg, MS.

She was preceded in death by grandfathers, Willis Jarrell and Owens Hodges.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Lee Jarrell and Jonathan Lonnie Jarrell, and a daughter, Jessica Sueann Jarrell, all of Bogalusa; her father, Lonnie Jarrell, Angie; her mother, Linda Seal, Seminary, MS; four brothers, Phillip, Chuck and Darrell Jarrell, Bogalusa, Chad Seal of Seminary, MS; a sister, Lindy Jones, Bassfield, MS; grandmothers, Myrtle Jarrell, Bogalusa, and Mildred Spiers, Poplarville, MS;

Ms. Jarrell will be sadly missed by special friends, Bobby Peters and Karen Sue Thomas.

William B. "W.R." Crain

(Died Jan. 10, 2000)

ETHEL - Funeral services for William B. "W.R." Crain, 78, a resident of Ethel are scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow with the Rev. Tony Hand and the Rev. Darwin Hall officiating.

Visitation is from 5-8:30 p.m. at Feliciana Baptist Church in Clinton, LA today with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 6 p.m. Visitation continues tomorrow after 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church cemetery, north of Mt. Hermon, Charlet Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Crain died yesterday in Clinton, LA.

He was a retired cattleman, Farm Bureau insurance agent and owner and operator of Crain Feed Service. He faced these last days with courage and determination in the face of adversity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Monroe Crain and Ludie Tynes Crain Luper; stepfather, Willis Luper; a brother, S.L. "Lavert" Crain; and a step-brother, Ray Luper.

Survivors include his wife, Jerri Burch Crain; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick J. "Pat" and Betty Clark Crain; grandchildren, Domielle C. and husband Steve Jones, William "Clark" and wife Crissy Fudge Crain; a great-granddaughter, Holland C. Crain; two great-grandsons, John Clark and Patric Crain, all of Ethel; a sister, Reta Mae Maynor, Bogalusa; three sisters-in-law, Linda Burch, Mt. Hermon, Lois Luper and Idell Crain, Bogalusa;

Pallbearers will be Clark Crain, Steve Jones, Ken Blue, James Clark, Earl Christian and Manship Williams. Honorary pallbearers are A.F. "Sonny" Guttzeit, Wayne Bickham, C.C. Smith, Jack Lawson and Shane Landry.

Glenn Clinton Binford

(Died Jan. 10, 2000)

FOLSOM - Funeral services for Glenn Calvin Binford, 65, a resident of Folsom are scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Freeman and Nathan Freeman officiating.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today, continuing tomorrow after 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the State Line United Pentecostal Church cemetery.

He died yesterday at his residence in Folsom.

Preceded in death by a brother, Robert Woods , he is survived his wife, Kathy Johnson Binford, Folsom; a son, Robert Binford, Folsom; a daughter, Debra Bunje, Bush; a brother, James Binford, Folsom; two sisters, Mary Barfield, Pensacola, FL and Phala Vacceralla, Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren.

Adrian H. McCarty

BOGALUSA - A memorial service for Adrian H. McCarty, 85, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Phillip Stagg officiating.

Mr. McCarty died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Rest Haven Living Center.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shannon Fairley, Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Margaret Rogers, Bogalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church.

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Flora B. Tate

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Flora B. Tate, 97, is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Winan United Methodist Church, the Rev. Terrence August officiating.

Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. today at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton and continues tomorrow from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Ms. Tate, a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans.

Survivors include a daughter, Jessie Lee Varnado, New Orleans; four sons, Doyle Tate, Franklinton, Ollie Tate Sr., Troby Tate and John D. Tate, all of New Orleans; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-great grandchildren and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bonnie Byrd Williams

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Bonnie Byrd Williams, 80, is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home.

Visitation will be today from 6-10 p.m. and will continue tomorrow after 8 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Williams died at 2:40 a.m. today in Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

A native of Cheraw, MS, she was a long-time resident of Bogalusa, a Registered Nurse who retired from Washington -St. Tammany Regional Medical Center after 21 years of service and also served 18 years at Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Perron Williams; her parents, James R. Byrd and Ircilla Mizell Byrd and a sister, Mary Lee Fornea.

Survivors include two daughters, Dera D. "De De" Talley, Rio and Joy I. "Sissie" Hilton, Lee's Creek community; a brother, Jim Byrd, Greenville, MS; a sister, Iris Talley, Rio; five grandchildren, Perry, Todd and Tori Talley, all of Rio, Shea Hilton Normand and Shannon Hilton, both of Lee's Creek community; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Daisy Normand, Lee Creek's community and special extended family members, Rick Hilton, Baton Rouge, Cliff Hilton, Lee's Creek community and Chris Hilton, Bogalusa.

Regina Rene Owens

(Died Feb. 7, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Reginal Rene Owens, 29, a resident of 1118 Ann Street, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bogalusa, the Rev. Raymond Mims officiating.

Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. tomorrow at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.

Burial will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.

Ms. Owens died Monday in the LSU/ Washington St. Tammany Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Annie) Peters and Mr. and Mrs. Eli (Edna) Owens; two aunts, Claudette Cotton and Neita Evans; an uncle, Howard Peters.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lee (Audry) Owens, Bogalusa; a brother, Floyd (Reshard) Owens, Bogalusa; five sisters, Deidra Yvette Owens, Christa Mighanne Owens, LaTonya Maria Owens, all of Bogalusa, Linda Wise, Baltimore, MD, and Chiquita Pittman, New Orleans; a niece, Mighonna Auriel Bickham, Bogalusa; four aunts, Ellen (Willie) Imes, North Brunswick, NJ, Juanita (Clifton) Brookshire, Baton Rouge, Ersie (Zebeulee) Pittman, Bogalusa and Irene Peters, Bogalusa; six uncles, James (Alice) Owens, Baton Rouge, Clarence Owens, Bogalusa, William (Catherine) Peters, New Orleans, C.L. (Lola) Peters, Glenn (Hilda) Peters, Zebedee (Carolyn) Peters, all of Elkhart, IN; three aunts, Elizabeth Conerly, Tylertown, MS, Ollie Y. Adams and Mable Y. Marqueritta P. Sasser

(Died Feb. 9, 2000)

HATTIESBURG - The funeral service for Marqueritta P. Sasser, 84, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Harrigill Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.

Visitation is from 4:30-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Bogue Chitto Cemetery.

Mrs. Sasser died Wednesday at Convalescence Center in Hattiesburg, MS.

She was a member of the Eastern Star-Bogue Chitto. She is also a longtime member of DAR and a member of the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Sasser.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Sasser, Alma, GA; a daughter, Becky Hodges, Hattiesburg, MS; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ezzie Ruth Smith

(Died Feb. 5, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Ezzie Ruth Smith, 80, is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Bogalusa, the Rev. James D. Cyrus officiating.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, with a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

Burial will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jonnell D. Smith Gatlin.

Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline S. (Rickki) Cole, Oakland, CA, Glenda Smith (Leslie) Davis, Bogalusa; a son, Lamar Cecil Smith and his fiancee' Marina Jimenez, Oakland, CA; a sister Dora Lee Veal, Bogalusa; two special aunts, Sally Allen and Janie Tanner, Georgetown, MS; a special niece, Sherrill D. Young, Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Ricky, Tona, Rory, Kelli, Etric, Capucine, Caleb, Nicole; eight great-grandchildren, Clarence III, Jason Alexander, "Lil" Myron, Erica, Genesis, Samaria, Caleb Jr., and Cohrion; three special cousins, Jeannie Preston, Derrick Preston, and Helen McNeal Taylor and family; and a host of step-children, nieces, nephews, friends, other cousins and neighbors.

Aubrey L. 'Buck' Bush

(Died Feb. 11, 2000)

NICEVILLE, Fla. - Memorial services for Aubrey L. "Buck" Bush, 65, a native of Bogalusa and a resident of Niceville, Fla., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home chapel in Niceville, Fla.

Mr. Bush died Feb. 11, 2000 in a Niceville, Fla. hospital.

Mr. Bush was born Sept. 5, 1934 in Bogalusa, La. and had been a resident of the Niceville area for the past 15 years, moving to Florida from Picayune, Miss. where he was the owner of Danny's Fried Chicken. He was the former owner of Danny's Fried Chicken in Niceville, Fla. and a cousin of the present owner, Randy L. Bush.

Mr. Bush was preceded in death by his parents, A.A. "Shorty" and Irma Galloway Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Margie" Shackley Bush; two daughters, Nan Bush Suckow and Kellie Bush Necaise; a son, David Bush; his father-in-law, Arthur Shackley; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan Bush Allison and Joel Allison, and five grandchildren.

McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, 1405 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
