Cleo Burris Smith

FRANKLINTON - A funeral service for Cleo Burris Smith, 80, is scheduled tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, Elder Washington Drake officiating.

Visitation begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the church, continuing until time of services.

Burial will follow in Sweet Home Cemetery, with Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton directing.

Survivors include her husband, Hezekiah Smith, New Orleans; a daughter, Jacqueline Smith, Fountain Valley, CA; a son, Therron Smith, New Orleans; two brothers, Gary Burris, Franklinton and Royan Burris, Bogalusa; a son-in-law, Wayne Lemelle, New Orleans; a step-daughter, Shirley Bulloch Sellers, Franklinton; a special niece, Barbara Sue "Jeanette" Waynick, Long Beach, CA; eight grandchildren, Angela, Dwayne, Stanley Jr, Mia, Torrie, Zell, Corey and Chris; 11 great-great grandchildren, Stanley III, Jeremy, Briel, Breshan, Taylor , Robert Jr., Joshua, Jacob, Dwayne Jr., Angelica and Francetta; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Earl Ward

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Kenneth Earl Ward, 53, a resident of Detroit, MI, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Sweet Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, Bogalusa. The Rev. Raymond Mims will officiate, with burial following in the Bogalusa Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa with a wake service beginning at 7 p.m.

Mr. Ward died Sunday in Detroit. He was born Aug. 26, 1946, in Bogalusa. Reared in Bogalusa, he graduated from Central Memorial High School and attended Grambling State University and graduated from Ford University, majoring in Hydraulic engineering. He was an employee of Ford Motor Company for the past 34 years. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Willie Bell Crawford, and a loyal brother, Harris Gregory Crawford.

Survivors include his devoted mother, Mrs. Geraldine Varice Bennett, Bogalusa; his father, P.R. Robinson, Los Angles, CA; three sons, Kerry, Kevin, and Korey, Detroit; a sister, Cynthia (Marion) White , Dublin, OH; three brothers, Steven Ward, Rodney Crawford and Michael (Eloise) Ward, all of Bogalusa; two aunts, Gayle Jenkins and Sandra Lusk, Bogalusa; a loving grandmother, Mary Williams, Bogalusa; many devoted cousins, Barbara Ann Staples, Jamaica, NY, Willie E. Breauz, Don Expose, and Willie Jenkins, Bogalusa and their children, Kyle, Ryan, Chad, Tandileer, Felisha, Darilyn; nieces, Dolanda Crawford, Detroit, Keisha and Kyra Ward, Bogalusa; Dione Stevens, Nashville, TN and Nicole White , Dublin, OH; nephews, Rodney Crawford II, Franklinton, Terrell Crawford, Detroit, MI, Tawan Crawford, Bogalusa and Tony Ball, Houston, TX and a former spouse, Leola Ward of Detroit.

The family entrusts the remains of Kenneth "Butch" Ward to the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home.

Mrs. Florence Dunaway

(Died Jan. 29, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Mrs. Florence Dunaway, 80, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, died Saturday evening in Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Mrs. Dunaway was a member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oveid Dunaway.

Mrs. Lillian Carter Fisher

(Died Jan. 28, 2000)

FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Carter Fisher, 90, a lifetime resident of Franklinton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Crain Funeral Home chapel in Franklinton with the Rev. Perry A. Porter of Macon, Ga., her grandson-in-law, and the Rev. Jack Collins officiating.

Burial will followed in the Morris Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. DeVon Byrd and directed by Crain Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Monday morning from 9-11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fisher died Jan. 28, 2000 at her residence, 1730 Main St. in Franklinton.

Known to a multitude of friends and relatives as Granny, Mrs. Fisher devoted her early life to her husband and children and was a godly influence on her grandchildren and their families. In 1970 she worked as a nurses aide at Riverside Medical Center.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Fisher, her parents, Frank and Bertha Carter, a sister, Winnie C. Adams, and three brothers, T.O. Carter, Floyd Carter and Robert Carter.

Survivors include three daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Robert K.) Lewis, DeRidder, La., Yvonne (Mrs. Carey L.) Phares and Jeanette (Mrs. Billy G.) Sylvest, both residents of Franklinton; one sister, Sadie C. Bennett, Bogalusa; a brother, Otis F. Carter, Franklinton; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to: Hospice of St. Tammany, 1202 S. Tyler, St. Covington, La. 70433, or to the church of your choice.

Mrs. Gay Nell Lucas

(Died Jan. 28, 2000)

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Funeral services for Mrs. Gay Nell Lucas, 77, a resident of Bay St. Louis, Miss., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel in Bogalusa, La., with the Rev. Billy Galloway officiating.

Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, Brown-McGehee Funeral Home directing.

Visitation is from 3:30-10 p.m. Monday at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel, and continues Tuesday after 8 a.m. until the time of the services.

Mrs. Lucas died Jan. 28, 2000 as her residence in Bay St. Louis, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Lucas.

Although Mrs. Had no children of her own, she raised many others.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Gwendolyn Louise Baer

(Died Feb. 16, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Gwendolyn Louise Baer, 85, is scheduled from 11-2 at the Baer family home, the Rev. Phil Stagg officiating.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Baer family home, 1127 N. Border Drive, in Bogalusa.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Bogalusa, First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge and University Lab School Foundation.

Burial will be at the Baer Family Cemetery, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Baer died this morning at the Bogalusa Medical Center after a long illness. She was a life-long resident of Bogalusa and a graduate of Bogalusa High School as valedictorian; charter member of Torch Social Club, charter member of Bogalusa Civic League, Northeast Garden Club and YWCA.

She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church, and was also active in many community and charitable organizations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael S. Baer Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Willis; and a grandson, Michael Perrault.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. and Debbie Baer, III, Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and David Perrault, Bogalusa, and Gwen and John Greene, Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

H' Eloise Aoueille Glover

(Died Feb. 15, 2000)

LAKE CHARLES - The funeral mass for H' Eloise Aoueille Glover, 98, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Annunciation Catholic Church, the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Phelps, OSB, officiating.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. tomorrow at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, with the rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 12 noon until time of the service.

Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery.

Mrs. Glover died on yesterday in Lake Charles. Born May 10, 1901 in Covington. She married George W. Glover Sr., in 1923 and moved to Bogalusa. Mrs. Glover was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was active in the Ladies' Altar Society for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Glover Sr.; her parents, Jean Marie and Jeanette Fontain Aoueille; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her son, George W. Glover Jr. and wife Betty of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Pam Glover, Kim Vaughn and husband Tom; her daughter, Merlyn and husband Earl Robinson, Lake Charles; grandchildren, Reve Poinbeouf, Jackie Goodwill and husband Bobby, Richard Robinson III and wife Lisa, Robert Robinson and wife Angela, Larry Robinson and wife Sheree, Patty Goudeau and Kent Robinson; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a sister, Marietta Evans, Thibodaux, formerly of Covington.

Pallbearers will be Richard Robinson III, Robert Robinson, Larry Robinson, Kent Robinson, Tom Vaughn and Scott Tyler.

Mary Brasley Williams Huff

(Died Feb. 13, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Mary B. Huff, 75, is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Visitation is on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000 from 2-6 p.m. at Cook- Richmond Funeral Home and will continue on Thursday at 1 p.m. until the service at the hosting church. Burial will follow at the Bogalusa Cemetery.

Being a long time resident of Bogalusa, she met eternal rest in the comfort of her home while being showered with love from her family.

Mrs. Huff was a dedicated member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she served as usher. She was also a retired employee of the Bogalusa City Schools.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Needam and Mae Leila Brasley; a sister, Lilly Mae Brasley Hewitt; and a brother, Ulysses Brasley; husbands, Harry Williams and Hollis Huff.

Survivors include her two children, Marilyn Williams Brown and Reginald "Chris" Williams; one God-Child, Kim Riley; six grandchildren, Pamdora (Stephen) Williams, Bianca LaShon Brown, Brandon Williams, Mikael Williams, Dawnya Williams, Marcus Williams and Sadie Givens; one great grandson, Donoven Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary Folse Guepet

(Died Dec. 31, 2000)

PENSACOLA, FL - A funeral mass for Mary Folse Guepte, 84, was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pensacola, FL. A graveside service was held at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in New Orleans.

Mrs. Guepet, a long-time resident of Bogalusa, married Leo Anthony Folse and they had one son, Ronald Leo. They were the owners of the Katherine Shop, a ladies apparel store in Bogalusa. After Leo died, Mary married Jacob Guepet, a family friend. They were members of Annunciation Catholic Church and known for their gardening projects.

Survivors include her son, Ronald L. Folse and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann; their children, Leo, Dan, Mary Daniels and Diane Yates; stepsons, Mike and Jake Guepet; step-daughter, Gail Ryan and their children; and numerous great-grandchildren.

S. J. Parke

(Died Feb. 15, 2000)

MENA, AR - The memorial service for S.J. Parker, 73, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. A.J. Cole officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Parker was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Talisheek, LA, to the late Murphy Parker and the late Gladys Talley Parker. He was the former owner of Parker's Grocery, having been retired for 23 years. He was also a member of the NRA.

Mr. Parker was of the Baptist faith and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Gladys Parker; three brothers, Dewitt, Maurice and Allen Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Parker, Mena, AR; a son, Rodney Parker, Mena, AR; two daughters, Sherry Hughes, Board Camp, AR and Valerie Couch, Oden, AR; two brothers, Woodrow Parker, Bush, and Ernest Parker, Mena, AR; grandchildren, Mindy Lyle, Mena, AR, Murphy Parker, Mena, AR and Jacob Hughes, Board Camp, AR; a great-grandson Nicholas Lyle, Mena, AR.

Norman 'Junior' Lang Jr.

(Died Feb. 22, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Norman "Junior" Lang Jr., 74, is scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, the Rev. Karl Wood officiating.

Visitation is from 5:30 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue after 8:30 a.m. tomorrow until time of service. Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery.

Mr. Lang died yesterday at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

A decorated veteran of World War II with service in Italy, he was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Lang Sr. and Ethel Bert Fornea Lang; two brothers, Jimmy Lang and Bobby Lang; a sister, Geraldine Lang Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Pebble Montgomery Lang, Bogalusa; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Gary D. Mindas, Jackson , NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, James Beatty and Priscilla Lang, Summit, MS; two granddaughters, Ashley M. Lang, Bogalusa, Analiese M. Mindas, Jackson , N.J.; a brother, Jamie "Venile" Lang, Bogalusa; three half-sisters, Mavis Hunt, Brenda Jordan, Nell Lang, all of Bogalusa and a half-brother, David Lang, Bogalusa.

Bertha Jenkins Magee

(Died Feb. 22, 2000)

PINE - The funeral service for Bertha Jenkins Magee, 91, a resident of the Pine community, is scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home. Eld. Clyde Cooper, Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Ted Phillips and the Rev. Jessie Charpentier, will officiate. Visitation is from 6 to 10 p.m. today at the funeral home and continues after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time of service. Burial will follow in the Pine Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Magee, who died yesterday at Riverside Medical Center, was a retired lunchroom worker at Pine School, having served for many years and was a member of the Pine Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Magee; two sons, Wilmon H. Magee and an infant; three brothers, Calip Jenkins, Levi Jenkins and Murphy Jenkins; and a sister, Pearl King.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred S. and Grace Magee, Gilbert E. and Betty Magee, Jake and Bess Magee, all of Pine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
