Beverly Shea Ney

(Died Dec. 15, 1999)

MANDEVILLE - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Beverly Shea Ney, age 81, who died Wednesday at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington.

She was an active member for many years at the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Her church activities brought her to serve as leader of the Happy Hearts Senior group for several years. She was instrumental in writing the history of the church for its 100th anniversary and then updating it for its 125th. Mrs. Ney was also active in Sunday School and Discipleship Training and worked with all age groups young and old. She also served with the parish Baptist Association Senior Bible Sessions and was a devoted deacon's wife.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 6 - 9 p.m. today and will continue tomorrow after 9 a.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ace McVay and the Rev. Dr. Joe Baugh will officiate, with burial following in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry L. Ney Jr. of Mt. Hermon; four daughters, Jerice Elaine West of Las Vegas, NV; Rosalind Ann Anderson of Huntington Beach, CA; Judith Elizabeth Ney of Covington; Ellen Marie Ney Campbell of Madisonville; a foster son, George Sullivan of Hammond; eight grandchildren, Stacy Elaine Smith, Stephen Edward Smith, Erica Christine Parks, Brian Harris Powell, Ryan Christopher Anderson, Lori Sullivan, Mary ReNey Anderson and Harold William Joseph Campbell, III; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Willie Ester Young

(Died. Dec. 12, 1999)

BOGALUSA - Willie Ester Young, age 68, died Sunday. He was employed by a Touch of Class Detail Shop.

Visitation will be today from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Crain and Sons Funeral Home, with a family hour from 7-8 p.m. The funeral service will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Victorious Ekklesia Ministries, with the Rev. Johnny D. Penton officiating.

He is survived by seven sons, Roscoe (Priscilla) Young of New Orleans, Willie Carl (Janice) Young of Baton Rouge, Donell Young of Baton Rouge, Jeffery (Kiwanee) Young of Jackson ville, FL, Michael Young of Jackson ville, FL, Willie Lester (Sherrie) Young Jr. of Jackson ville, FL and Kevin Young of Bogalusa; two daughters, Shirley (Ernest) Bickham of New Orleans and Louita Young of Hattisburg, MS; two step-daughters, Demetris Rayford and Denise Evans both of Angie; a step-father, Mr. Ben Dillon of Bogalusa; two brothers, Excel Dillon and Isaac Dillon both of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Jeanette Mark, Kathleen (Virgil) Jackson , Bessie Brumfield, all of Bogalusa and Shirley Edna Dillon of Milwaukee, WI.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilian Brumfield Dillon; a sister, Armitch Magee; and a son, Wilfred Young.

Mrs. Sadie Boone Stewart

(Died Jan. 14, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Boone Stewart, 84, a native of Varnado and a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today from the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Jim Shook, pastor of First Baptist Church of Varnado, officiating.

Burial will follow in Seal Cemetery in Varnado, Brown-McGehee Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Saturday and continues after 8 a.m. today until the time of the services.

Mrs. Stewart died Jan. 14, 2000 at Columbia/Lakeview Medical Center in Covington.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of Varnado Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lamar Stillwell; her second husband, Daulton Stewart; one sister, Ruby B. Robbins; one brother, Delos Boone, and her parents, James W. Boone and Ada C. Wheat Boone.

Survivors include a son and his wife, James and Cynthia Devon Stillwell, Deatsville, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth B. Carpenter, Decatur, Ala.; two grandchildren, Deborah Johnson and her husband, Kelly, Satsuma, Ala., and Leigh Ann Childree and her husband, Kenny, Deatsville, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Johnson , both residents of Satsuma, Ala., and Kacey and Brantley Childree, both residents of Deatsville, Ala.

Naomi Frances Breland

(Died Dec. 20, 1999)

MT. HERMON - Naomi Frances Breland, age 81, died yesterday at her residence in Mt.

Hermon. She was a registered nurse and supervisor for social work for the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. After retirement she continued the role of care taker for her mother and her beloved animals, as well as many people she loved in the community.

Her body was cremated, with arrangements by Crain Funeral Home.

She is survived by a sister, Cyndia Breland Burak of Mt. Hermon; a niece, Lois Burak of Philadelphia, PA; and a nephew, Jef Burak, also of Philadelphia, PA.

Ann Armstrong

(Died Dec. 19, 1999)

FRANKLINTON - Ann Armstrong, age 61, died Sunday at her residence in Franklinton. She was born July 24, 1938 in Washington Parish, the daughter of Wilbur and Verlie Georgia Wood Toney.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Austin Armstrong of Franklinton; a son, Charles Alan Armstrong of Franklinton; a daughter, Karen Lynn Petersen of New Town, CT; a brother, John Duel Toney of Santa Rosa, Mexico; four grandchildren, Michael Goolsby, Bridgett Goolsby, Steve Petersen and Amanda Petersen; one great-grandchild, Alex Goolsby.

Visitation will be held today from 4-9 p.m. at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in Tyler-town. The funeral service will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Eld. Ted Phillips and Eld. Lavon Taylor will officiate at the final service, with burial following in the Star Hill Cemetery.

Richard Earl Miley

(Died Dec. 18, 1999)

ANGIE - Richard Earl Miley, age 62, a resident of the Seven Mile Road, died Saturday at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 5-10 p.m. in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, continuing Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time for the final service at 2 p.m with the Rev. Preston Alsobrooks and Eld.Mason Miley officiating. interment will follow in the Miley Cemetery on the Seven Mile Road.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jarrell Miley of Angie; two sons, Richard Miley of Jackson ville, FL and Claude Lawrence Miley of Angie; four step-sons, Leory Dillon of New York, Scott Dillion of Delaware, Lance Powe of Covington and Roy Burnthorn of Angie; a daughter, Anitra Colet Warner of Abita Springs; a step-daughter, Yvonne Miley of Angie; three brothers, John Miley of Bogalusa, Willard Miley of Angie and Fred Miley of Tickfaw; two sisters, Artimez Miley and Earline Watts, both of Angie and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Clayton Burnthorn; his parents, Y.M. "Doc" Miley and Irene Miley; a brother, Eld. Howard Miley and a sister, Velma Temples.

Nelson Parker

(Died Dec. 18, 1999)

BOGALUSA - Nelson Parker, age 77, died Saturday at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

He is survived by a son, Gerry Parker of Bogalusa; a daughter, Shirley Miley of Bogalusa; a brother, Ray Parker of Talisheek and a sister, Ellen Parker of Greenwell Springs.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Brown-McGhee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gaydell Hushfield Havard

(Died Dec. 19, 1999)

BOGALUSA - Gaydell Husfield Havard, age 51, died at her daughter's residence in Bogalusa. A native of Picayune, she had been a resident of McNeil for the past four years.

Visitation will be today from 5-10 p.m. at the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow after 8 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. She is survived by her husband, William Thomas Havard of McNeil; four daughters, Sherri Gabriel of Bay St. Louis, Sandra Rester of Bogalusa, Susan McLain of Covington and Stacie Vining of Amite; three sisters-in-law, Cindy Stockstill of Slidell, Bobbie Bingham of Slidell and Joyce Adams of McNeil; two brothers, Charles Hermann of Hazelhurst and Rodney Hermann of Picayune; and 12 grandchildren.

Lillian Idelle Catha

(Died Dec. 18, 1999)

BOGALUSA - Lillian Idelle Catha, age 93, died Saturday at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Visitation was held yesterday from 6-9 p.m, and continued today at 11 a.m until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Emory Smith will officiate, with interment following in Ponemah Cemetery.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Catha; two sisters, Velma Smith and Mary Schilling; two brothers, Lubye Paul and Archie Paul.

Mrs. Peggy Sue Stafford

BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Sue Stafford, 57, a native and resident of Varnado, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Southern Baptist Church of Varnado, the Rev. R.C. Branch officiating.

Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery in Varnado, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation was from 5-5:30 p.m. yesterday at Southern Baptist Church. Regular visitation was from 5:30-9 p.m. yesterday and continues today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mrs. Stafford died Saturday in Washington -St. Tammany Regional Medical Center, Bogalusa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milous and Judy Seal, two sons, Johnnie and Brian Stafford, a sister, Evelyn Bean, and a brother, Dewayne Seal.

She is survived by her husband, Lavon Stafford, Varnado; children, Tommy Wayne Stafford and Debbie Netherland; a daughter-in-law, Alana Stafford, State Line; a son-in-law, Phillip Doty, Bogalusa; a sister, Lexie Thomas, Bogalusa; two brothers, Leroy "Slick" Seal, Varnado, and Max Seal of Houma; and two grandsons, Joey Netherland and Michael Doty.

Maudie Knight Clancy

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Maudie Knight Clancy, age 66, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home. Dr. Gene Richards, Dr. John Robson and the Rev.

Rick Wood will officiate, with burial following in Ellis Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-10 p.m. tomorrow, continuing after 10 a.m. on Friday atthe funeral home until time for the final service.

Ms. Clancy, who died yesterday in Dixon Medical Center, Covington, was a retired district supervisor with Farmer's Home Administration where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Franklinton Garden Club and Quilter's Club.

Preceded in death by her parents, Otto Purcell and Ina Renfro Knight; two brothers, Otto Knight and L.C. Knight and a sister, Melba Hutsell, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Derry H. "Buddy" and Andria M. Clancy Jr., and David M. and Nicole S. Clancy, all of Eureka Springs, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Washington Parish Fair playground, P.O. Drawer 8, Franklinton, LA. 70438.

Pamela Jean Johnson James

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Pamela Jean Johnson James, 49, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Grayson, LA. The Rev. Alton Lee and the Rev. Robert C. Sheridan Jr. will officiate. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. tomorrow at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at the Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mallory Callahan and the Rev. Jerome Warren officiating. Crain and Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby E. James Sr., Franklinton; her father, Morris Charles Johnson Sr., Columbia, LA; a daughter, Kaela N. James, Franklinton; three step-daughters, Beverly James, Cheryl James and Angela James, New Orleans; a step-son, Bobby E. James Jr., New Orleans; three sisters, Patricia Bradley, Lake Charles, Barbara Canada, Columbia, LA and Juanita Johnson , Baton Rouge; two brothers, Billy R. Johnson , Columbia, LA and Morris Charles Johnson Jr., Columbia, LA; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lelia Boone Kennedy

STATE LINE - The funeral service for Lelia Boone Kennedy, age 67, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Cook will officiate, with interment following in the Briarwood Baptist Church Cemetery, State Line.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, continuing after 9 a.m. tomorrow until time for the final service.

Mrs. Kennedy died yesterday at 10:30 a.m. at her residence in State Line.

A member of the Briarwood Baptist Church, she was a devoted wife, mother, music teacher and church pianist for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer W. and Ollie Ellis Boone, and a brother, Stanley Boone.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie "Rastus" Kennedy, State Line; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David W. Kennedy, State Line and Kevin R. and Susan Kennedy, Bogalusa; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dana S. Froberg, Dallas, TX and Kathy M. and Bobby Polk, State Line; five brothers and spouses, Clyde W. and Lennie Boone, Carl and Carolyn Boone, all of Columbia, MS, Lawrence and Geraldine Boone, Varnado, Paul and Jean Boone, Bogalusa, Glenn A. and Jessie Merle Boone, Angie; four sisters and spouses, Hilda B. Seal, Angie, Maxine B. and Alton Tynes, Dorothy B. and Ford Kennedy, Stateline, Maureen B. and Robert Lee Hobgood, Tylertown, MS.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tressie Perry

(Died Jan. 28, 2000)

CARRIERE, Miss. - Funeral services for Mrs. Tressie Perry, 89, a resident of Carriere, Miss., are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Henleyfield, Miss., the Revs. Sollie Smith and Arthur Shaw officiating.

Burial will follow in the Henleyfield Cemetery, McDonald Funeral Home of Picayune, Miss.

Visitation was Saturday after 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss.

Mrs. Perry died Jan. 28, 2000 at her residence in Carriere, Miss.

A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitmann Perry, and a grandson, Brent Perry.

Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Nunn, Bogalusa, La., Annette Seal, Crossroads, Miss., and Rita Smith, Lucedale, Miss.; three sons, Clarence Barton, Royce Perry and Raymond Perry, all residents of Carriere, Miss., 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four special adopted grandsons, James Burnside, Taylor Burnett, Rocky Dubuisson and Jonathan Wheat, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Burnette, Rocky Dubuisson and Ron Robinson, along with her granddaughters, Debbie Aaron, Cherita Geraldson, Teresa Tretber, Tawana Applegate, Becky Byrd and Trudy Scales.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Elbert Barton, Steve Nunn, Kirt Perry, Kelvin Nunn, Douglas Smith, Malcolm Perry, Shannon Perry and Earl Seal II.
