BOGALUSA - Mary Lou Allen, age 72, died Dec. 22, 1999 at her residence in Bogalusa.
Visitation will be tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. Family hour is fro Wednesday at 12 noon at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church located at 400 Elliot St. The Rev. M.J.
Galloway will officiate. interment will be at the Bogalusa Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Dora Martin and Richard Allen of Buffalo, NY; Karen Allen and Terry Allen of Rochester, NY; Constance Mark and Shandra Allen of Bogalusa; the children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin(Martha) Matthews, Hugh, Evelyn, Marilyn and Francine; three sisters, Ida Norwood of Chicago, IL, Nellie Hollins of Silver Creek, MS and Viola Seymour of Fort Pierce, FL; a sister-in-law, Jessie Mae Levi of Brookhaven, MS; a brother-in-law, Jasper Allen of Memphis, TN; a daughter-in-law, Kim Cowart Allen of Rochester, NY; two special cousins, Nacelia Hooker and Willie Mae Wallace; many wonderful cousins from the Silver Creek area; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, friends, super neighbors and a loving, supportive Church family.
Verna Johnston
HATTISBURG, Miss. - Verna Johnston, age 87, died Friday at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss..
Visitation was held yesterday from 5-10 p.m. and continued today after 8 a.m. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Painter officiating. interment will follow in Ponemah Cemetery.
She is survived by five sons, Titus Johnson of Robinsonville, MS, S.E. Johnston Jr. and Franklin Johnston, both residents of Metairie, Allen Johnston, Huntsville, AL, and Arvin Johnston of Springfield; three daughters, Mrs. Wilda Harper of Pearl River, Mrs. Barbara Windham of Dexter, MS, Mrs. Delores Johnson of Plaquemine; one brother Van C. Crawford of Franklinton; one sister, Emma Crawford of Pearl River; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.E. Johnston; her parents; Isaac Crawford and Alwilda Craddock Crawford; two sons, Ralph Johnston and Carvin Johnston; one brother Alvin Crawford and two great grandsons.
John H. Miller
CHALMETTE - Funeral services for John H. Miller, 78, a former resident of Bogalusa, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa, with Father Lawrence Phelps officiating.
Rosary is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church.
Mr. Miller died Dec. 30, 1999 as his residence in Chalmette.
A veteran of World War II and past commander of American Legion Post 24, Mr. Miller was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was retired from Crown Zellerbach.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Miller, and a special friend, Doris Calabresi.
He is survived by a number of cousins and friends.
Mrs. Lucy Pounds
BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Pounds, 74, a resident of Bogalusa, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel, the Revs. Lonnie Thompson and Lynn Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in Lee's Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing.
Visitation was Saturday, from 5-9 p.m., and continues today after 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
Mrs. Pounds died Dec. 30, 1999 at Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
Mrs. Pounds was preceded in death by a brother, T.M. Stafford.
Survivors include her husband, J.L. Pounds, Bogalusa; a sister and brother-in-law, Eulene and Malcolm "Doodle" McMillan, Bogalusa, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Stephen L. Richardson
FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Stephen L. Richardson, 66, a resident of Franklinton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Revs. Michael Simmons and Charles Floyd Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery, Crain Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home and continues after 9 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church until the time of the services.
Mr. Richardson died Dec. 31, 1999 in the St. Tammany Hospital in Covington.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University and a longtime Franklinton businessman, Mr. Richardson was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean conflict.
Mr. Richardson served on the Franklinton Board of Aldermen and was an active member of the Franklinton Volunteer Fire Department for many years, serving as assistant chief and chief.
He served on the original board of the Washington Parish Hospital District 1 (Riverside Medical Center) and was retired as maintenance superintendent of Riverside Medical Center.
Mr. Richardson, a member of Centenary Methodist Church, was employed at Ace Hardware in Franklinton at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Katherine Richardson, and a sister, Anita Magee.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Stewart Richardson, Franklinton; a daughter and son-on-law, Kay and Kelvin McCain, Franklinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Stacey Richardson, Franklinton; a sister, Joan Simmons, Kentwood; four grandchildren, Stephen Lee McCain, Conner McCain, Mary Kate Richardson and Peyton Richardson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John Esper Walters
BOGALUSA - Funeral services for John Esper Walters, 87, a resident of Bogalusa, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Ed Jenkins officiating.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today and continues after 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the services.
Burial follows in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa, Brown-McGehee Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Walters died Dec. 31, 1999 at Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
A member of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, Mr. Walters was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Donese Walters and Ernestine Brooks Walters Bennett.
Survivors include several cousins and a host of friends.
Rena Hall
BOGALUSA - Rena Hall, age 80, died Saturday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
Visitation will be today from 4:30 to 10 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home and will continue at 8 a.m. tomorrow until time of services in the chapel at 12 noon. The Rev. Ester Hammond will officiate. interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, David Hall, Willard Hall and Harvey Hall all of Bogalusa; four daughters, Betty Hall, Bogalusa, Delores Spears, Tylertown, Toni Ritchie, Bogalusa and Theresa Talley, Sun; a brother, Tony Ramirez, Bogalusa; a sister, Viola Rester, Bogalusa.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Hall.

Geraldine M. Vincent
CROSSROADS - Geraldine M. Vincent, age 48, died Saturday at her residence in Crossroads.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery
in Crossroads with the Rev. Larry Lasley officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Vincent, Crossroads; a son, Jason Vincent, Crossroads; a daughter, Angela Vincent, New Orleans; three sisters, Helen Hall, Pauline Covington and Nell Williams; one brother, Milton Paul Williams, Crossroads.

Otzie Touchstone Powell
NATCHEZ - The funeral service for former Bogalusa resident Otzie Touchstone Powell, 96, is scheduled today at 3 p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Ron Stoker officiating.
Visitation is being held from 1 p.m. until time of services.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Laird Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or charity of choice.
Mrs. Powell died Monday at Natchez Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church Women, and the Natchez Adams Country Humane Society.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie P. Mayfield, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Martie Powell, Shreveport; a son-in-law, Charles R. Mayfield, Natchez; granddaughters, Sharon Haney and Gayle Wibben, Shreveport, Janet Stairbime, Huntsville, AL and Roslyn Baker, Rogers, AR; grandsons, Chuck Mayfield, Natchez and Stan Powell, Shreveport; sisters, Fannie Hollifield, Laurel, Mattie Clark, Mobile, AL, Bertha Ainsworth, Taylor sville, MS; and 14 great grandchildren.
Patsy Ruth Burkart

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Patsy Ruth Burkart, 67, is scheduled at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. tomorrow until time for the final service.
Burial will follow in the Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Burkart died yesterday at her residence in Franklinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Burkart Jr.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Burkart, Lumberton, MS; a grandson, Ryan Burkart, Lumberton; three sisters, Millie Walther, Franklinton, Mary O'Brian, New Orleans and Ora Hamilton, Enterprise, AL.
Maudie Knight Clancy

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Maudie Knight Clancy, 66, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home. Dr. Gene Richards, Dr. John Robson and the Rev. Rick Wood will officiate, with burial following in the Ellis Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 6-10 p.m., continuing after 10 a.m. tomorrow until time for the final service.

Ms. Clancy died Tuesday at Dixon Medical Center in Covington.
She was a retired district supervisor with Farmer's Home Administration, where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Franklinton's Garden Club and Quilter's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Purcell and Ina Renfro Knight; two brothers, Otto Knight and L.C. Knight and a sister, Melba Hutsell.
Survivor's include two sons and daughters-in-law, Derry H. "Buddy" and Andria M. Clancy Jr., David M. and Nicole S. Clancy, all of Eureka Springs, AR; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Clancy, Conogher Sargent Clancy and Hannah Grace Clancy, all of Eureka Springs, AR; a brother, Wayne Knight, Franklinton; two sisters, Olean Corkern and Christine Thomas, Franklinton.
Joe Gaines

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Joseph L. "Joe" Gaines, 64, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home, the Rev. Jerry Cox officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Gaines died yesterday at his residence in Franklinton.
He was a self-employed truck driver owning Gaines Trucking for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Melton Gaines.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Odeal Barber Gaines, Franklinton; two sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sheila Gaines, Franklinton, Ronnie Gaines, Folsom, Cindy Seals; three grandchildren, Amy and Jimmy Dale Brooks, Tracy and Kevin Gaines, all of Franklinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Georgia Gaines, Amite; and a host of friends and relatives.
