Adrian Joseph Norman

SUN - Adrian Joseph Norman, 59, a resident of Sun and a native of Bogalusa died yesterday in his home.

Survivors include his wife, Pulley Theriot Norman of Sun; two sons, Adrian Joseph Norman Jr. of Picayune, MS and Michael Doolittle of Hickory, LA; two daughters, Angela Jean Norman of Bogue Chitto, MS and Karen Plesica of Slidell; three brothers, Ed “Boots” Norman of Huntsville, AL, Leon Norman and Bill Norman both of Bogalusa; three sisters, Wilda Thompson of Independence, MO, Glenda Ikerd of Wakefield, LA, and Anna Morivatz of Friendswood, TX; his mother, Dollie Holden Norman of Friendswood, TX; one granddaughter; four grandsons; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Leon Norman.

Visitation will held yesterday 5-10 p.m. and will continue today from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home. Date and time of the service will be announced later. interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogalusa. Brown-McGehee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lula Mae “Big Mama” Smith

(Died August 7, 2000)

BOGALUSA — Lula Mae “Big Mama” Smith, 77, a resident of Oakhill Apartments in Bogalusa, died Monday in Bogalusa Community Medical Center.

Survivors include three sons, Oliver (Joan) Gutter of Pontiac, MI, Welton (Annette) Mingo of Franklinton, and Jessie Smith of Chicago, IL; five daughters, Judy McDowell of New Orleans, Ledora (Howard) Jefferson of Mt. Hermon, Mae (Johnny Brown Sr. of Franklinton, Edwina Jacobs, and Lynette Smith both of Bogalusa; a sister, Josie Mae Smith of WI; 32 grandchildren/ 60 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 2-8 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa.

The funeral Service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Parlor of Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa with the Rev. Larry Jefferson officiating. interment will be in Bogalusa Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Estelle Jones Williams

(Died August 9, 2000)

FRANKLINTON — Edith Estelle Jones Williams, 78, a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday in Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of Springhill Baptist church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Pete (Barbara) Williams and Ray (Ellen) Williams both of Franklinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty (Jerry) Rester and Estelle (Robert) Mitchell both of Franklinton; a brother, J.D. (Edith) Jones of Isabel; two sisters, Elizabeth Delaughter and Eva Mae Spinks both of Franklinton; a brother-in-law, Tildon Corkern of Franklinton; a sister-in-law, Velma Jones of Franklinton; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey O. Williams; a grandson, Stacy Mitchell; a sister, Lorena Corkern; a brother, Virgil Jones; and an infant daughter, Golda Marie Williams.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 5:30-10 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton and will continue after 8 a.m. Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Graves and the Rev. John Gilbert officiating. interment will follow in the Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Deloy Rester, Danny Rester, Ricky Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, Jacob Williams, and Billy Jones. Crain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Debbie Ann Bailey

(Died August 10, 2000)

Debbie Ann Bailey, 22, a resident of Franklinton died Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. She was a cashier at Jr.’s Food Mart in Folsom.

She was survived by he father and step mother, Paul Wilson Bailey and Ruth Marie Bailey; two sisters, Susane Passman and Angelicia Bailey; two brothers, Bobby Earl Bailey and Samuel Paul Bailey; one niece, Jessica Lynn Passman, all of Franklinton; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Jean Schilling Cooper and step father Michael Cooper.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton after 5 p.m. Sunday until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Richard Bailey and Rev. Jerry Cox officiating.

Internment will follow in the Nobles Cemetery in Pine.

Ethel Mondy Harry Shephard

(Died August 8, 2000)

Ethel Mondy Harry Shephard, a former resident of Varnado, died Aug. 8, 2000, in Richmond, California. Funeral arrangements will be made in Richmond, Calif.

She was survived by two sisters, Harriet (Curtis) Owens of Varnado and Amy (Ernest) Jackson of Bogalusa; three granddaughters and seven great grandchildren, and a special niece, Helen (Lonnie) Lewis of Varnado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Martha Mondy; her daughter, Dr. A. Lois Harry; four sisters, Ruth Myles, Alice Bickham, Nancy Chatman, and Anice Mondy; one brother, Carl Mondy; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Sadie McCaffrey Braden

(August 15, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Sadie McCaffrey Braden, 67, a native of New Orleans, resident of the MS Gulf Coast for 40 years, and a Bogalusa resident for 8 years died Tuesday in Bogalusa. She was a Baptist and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include four sons, Richard S. McCaffrey Jr., John H. McCaffrey, both of Gulf Port, MS, Ivy Bruce McCaffrey of Bogalusa, and Tim G. McCaffrey of Long Beach, MS; a brother, Howard Warner of Ponchatoula, LA; two sisters, Dorothy Cutrer of Kentwood, LA and Genieva Thomas of Picayune, MS; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard S. McCaffrey Sr. and Lyman S. Braden Sr.

Visitation will be tomorrow after 11 a.m. at Riemann Funeral Home located at 25th Avenue in Gulfport.

The funeral service will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in long Beach.

Riemann Funeral Home of Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

Edward H. "Tek" Cooper Jr.

(Died August 16, 2000)

BOGALUSA - Edward H. "Tek" Cooper Jr., 73, a resident of Bogalusa, died yesterday in Gulfport, MS. He was a retired as captain of the Bogalusa Police Department after 20 years, was a member of the American Legion, a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, served in the Navy in WWII, and worked for Hill Finance for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances D. Cooper of Bogalusa; two sons, Danny cooper of Bogalusa and Mike Cooper of Poplarville, MS; a brother, Joe Cooper of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister, Louise McGehee of Poplarville, MS; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Hattie Cooper; and a sister, Mary Joyce Heikkinen.

Family visitation will be tonight at 6 p.m. and public visitation will be tonight from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and will continue tomorrow after 9 a.m.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow in the chapel of Poole-Richie Funeral Home at 2 p.m.

interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Poole-Richie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

David Edward Hall

(Died August 16, 2000)

BOGALUSA - David Edward Hall, 40, a resident of Bogalusa, died yesterday at 7:50 p.m. in Bogalusa. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, and a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in business management.

He is survived by a son, David Edward Hall II; a friend, Cora Webb of Bogalusa; mother, Jo Ann Hall of Bogalusa; a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky Cooper (Sandra) Hall of Bogalusa; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda H. (Chad) Lee of Hammond; a grandfather, Arnold (Marion) Strain of Covington; aunts, Brenda Lanier and Ruth S. Prats, both of Abita Springs; god parents, Clifton Simoneaux of Franklinton and Ruth S. Prats of Abita Springs; friends, Dennis Wennis of Bogalusa, Missy Amari of New Orleans, Lance Boyd of Bogalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cooper L. Hall; and grandmothers, Rosa Lay and Etta Strain.

Visitation will be tomorrow at noon at Annunciation Catholic Church. Deacon Chuck Hartman officiating at a memorial service to be held 2 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church.

interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of St. Tammany at 1202 South Tlyer in Covington, LA 70433.

Mallory LeAnne Magee

(Died August 16, 2000)

FRANKLINTON - Mallory LeAnne Magee, 11, a resident of Franklinton died yesterday at 9:10 a.m. in Tulane Medical Center of New Orleans as a result of injuries from an automobile accident.

She is survived by her parents, Jesse and Shannon Strother Richardson of Franklinton and the late Dennis L. Magee; three sisters, Annette Pierre, Kendra Hutchinson both of Folsom, and Amanda Magee of Franklinton; a brother, Kevin Richardson of Franklinton; grandparents, Latimore and Hilda Magee of Franklinton, and Clara Richardson of Enon; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ruth C. Strother.

Visitation will be today at Crain Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m. and will continue tomorrow after 9 a.m.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Richards and the Rev. Eric Williams officiating.

interment will be in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.

J.C. Randolph

(Died August 12, 2000)

BOGALUSA - J.C. Randolph, 84, a resident of Bogalusa, died Saturday in Bogalusa Medical Center. He was the second child of the late George Randolph and Molly Wilkes. He joined Rose Hill Baptist Church at an early age and later joined Mr. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A.L. Owens. He was married to Mina Lee Dillon and had one daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Mina Lee Randolph; his children, Georgia Lee Short and Sue Brown, both of Bogalusa; grandchildren, John Marvin Ferguson, Jr. of Suisun City, CA, Roy Lee Short of Bogalusa, Jerome Duane Short of New Orleans, Braden Randolph Short of Bogalusa , and Kenner Brown of Bogalusa; great-grandchildren, Olivia Tashe Short, Tre Rashad Short of Bogalusa, and John Marvin Jr. III of Suisun City, CA; two brothers, Joseph Randolph and Josephus Randolph, both of Prentiss, MS; two sisters-in-law, Clemmie Randolph of Prentiss, MS and Annie Bell Randolph of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three sons-in-law, Jerome Short and David Brown of Bogalusa, and Shirley Vorise of Richmond, CA; a godchild, James of New Orleans; nephews; nieces; cousins; friends; neighbors; and church family.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Randolph; his mother, Molly Wilkes Randolph; a daughter, Ann Vorise; two brothers, Ezell Randolph and George Randolph; and two sisters.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 2-7 p.m. at the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist church with the Rev. M.J. Galloway officiating.

interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.

Cook-Richmond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Reeves Rimes

(Died August 17, 2000)

LAUREL, MS - Mary R. Rimes, 84, a resident of 8th Avenue in Laurel, MS and a retiree of J.C. Penney Company in Laurel died today at 6:22 a.m. in Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage, MS.

She is survived by a son, Charles (Linda) Rimes of Bogalusa; daughters, June Thaggard of Ridgeland, MS and Gayle Elmer of Laurel, MS; grandchildren, Kimby Rimes Mullett of Bush, Dr. Greg Thaggard and Dr. Stacy Thaggard of Meridian, MS, Rodney Elmer and Billy D. Ishee Jr. of Laurel, MS; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, E.L. Reeves of Tylertown; and sisters, Altha Holmes of Brookhaven, MS and Dorothy Surratte of Jackson , TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Rimes; parents, Cicero Z. and Narcisus Stogner Reeves; brothers, Howard and Noel Reeves; sisters Eva Mitchell, Adlee Engerran, and Katherine Bosso.

Services are being arranged at Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown, MS with a wake tomorrow evening and funeral Saturday.
