Gloria Allen Palmer was born on April 9, 1941 in Merryville, Louisiana to the union of the late Lonnie and Mary Allen. God called her home on July 15, 2008 in Rosepine, Louisiana . She was 67 years old.

Ms. Palmer worked at a day care center and enjoyed taking care of her family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at True Light Baptist Church in Merryville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008 also at the church. Reverend Raymond Landry will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Belgrade Cemetery in Bon Weir, Texas .

She leaves to mourn her passing 4 sons: Tyrone Allen (Antoinette) of DeRidder, Russell Lee Allen (Margaret) of Leesville, Reginald Allen of Lake Charles, Cedric Allen (Johnnie Mae) of Merryville; 2 daughters: Susan Weathers (Derrick) of DeRidder and Shirley Allen of DeRidder; 1 step son: Roger Palmer, Sr. of Kinder, LA; 7 Step daughters: Susie Vallaire (Matthew) and Bobbie Franklin all of DeRidder; Maxine Stone, Gladys Palmer, Vanessa Palmer and Diane Palmer all of Merryville and Stephanie Oguntuase of Atlanta, Georgia.

She is also survived by 4 brothers and 5 sisters. They are: James Allen, Clarence Allen, C.D. Allen, Eddie Lee Allen, Ora Lee Allen, Jewell Kellium, Charlene Jones, Bobbie Collins and Jo Helen Hinton.

Ms. Palmer is additionally survived by 38 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Joseph Blanchard, 69, passed from this life on July 14, 2008 in Rosepine, Louisiana .
Arrangements are pending at this time.

Nelby James Sliman

Nelby James Sliman, 63, passed from this life on Friday, July 11, 2008 in DeQuincy, Louisiana .
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his father: Mitchell J. Sliman of Bundick Lake; Son: John Sliman of DeQuincy, LA; Niece: Nicolette Davis of Connecticut; Step-Sister: Becky Launey of Bundick Lake; Sister: Roxanne Breaux of Arkansas; Grandchildren: Joshua Sliman of Lake Charles, LA; Justine Sliman of Vidor, Texas ; Kaci Owens of Vidor, Texas and Jason Sliman of Opelousas, LA; Great-Grandchildren: Evan Sliman of Lake Charles, LA; Blake & Hailey Owens of Vidor, Texas and Trey Sliman of Opelousas, LA.

His mother, Ethel Duplechechain and son, James Sliman preceded him in death.

Mr. Sliman was a retired Vietnam Combat Veteran. He was a Sgt in the United States Army.

John T. Duplonty, Jr.

John Duplonty, Jr., 47, passed from this life on July 10, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral Services were held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Chloie Stokes, 94, of DeRidder Passed away July 7, 2008 at a local care facility. No services are scheduled at this time.

Justice DeAnfernee Smith

Justice Smith, 10, of Lake Charles, passed from this life on Sunday, July 6, 2008 in Jasper, Texas . Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Starlight Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana . Funeral Services will be held at the church at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Starlight Baptist Church in DeRidder. Rev. Glen Foster will officiate. Burial will follow at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana .
Justice was preceded in death by his father: Tyrone D. Willis.

He is survived by his Mother and Step Father: Cherie and Derek Holton, Sr. of Lake Charles; Grandparents: Charlie & Dorothy Smith of Jasper, Texas , George & Nellie W. Mayes of DeRidder, Louisiana and Jimmy & Lorie Holton of DeRidder, Louisiana ; Great Grandmothers: Nona B. Willis of DeRidder and Juanita Smith of Jasper; Brothers: Tyreke Willis of New Iberia, LA, Tyrese Willis of New Iberia, LA and Derek Holton, Jr. of Lake Charles; Sisters: Zadejah Holton of Lake Charles, Chederyia Holton of Lake Charles and Destiny Fowler of DeRidder; Step Sister, Vanessa Holton of Lake Charles and Best Friend and Brother: Denzel Williams and Dezmond Demease of Lake Charles.

Justice also had a host of cousins, friends, Aunts and Uncles.

Joseph "Joey" Ellis

Joey Ellis, 63, of Pitkin, Passed away July 4, 2008 in Alexandria after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Private funeral and burial services will be held for the family.

Joey recently retired as Manager, Equipment Division for Tilcon Connecticut, Inc.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Robbie Ellis of Pitkin, LA; a daughter, Tara King and her husband Sean King of Enfield, Connecticut; his mother, Estelle Gibson of Rosepine, La; 3 brothers, Billy Wayne Ellis of Westlake, LA, B.C. Ellis of Rosepine, LA, Craig Ellis of Westlake, LA; 1 sister, Mary James of Rosepine, LA and 2 Grandsons, David Reynolds & Eric King.

Vivian L. Whitman Franks

Vivian Franks, 79, of Merryville Passed away July 3, 2008 in a local hospital. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Friday, July 4, 2008 at Boxwood Church of Christ in Bivens, LA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Boxwood Church of Christ in Bivens, LA. Burial will follow at Bivens Cemetery. Ministers will be Brother R.C. Franks and Brother Ray Franks.

Ms. Vivian was a faithful member of Boxwood Church of Christ. She dedicated her life to raising her 7 children. She enjoyed gardening and raising farm animals. Ms. Vivian enjoyed her last years of life with her friends and wonderful care givers at Merryville Nursing Center. Her hope was in Jesus Christ for a home in heaven.

Ms. Vivian is survived by 4 Sons, Johnnie & Kayla Franks of Merryville, Hershell & Becky Franks of Merryville, Leslie & Laurie Franks of Merryville, Anthony & Chevelle Franks of Bon Weir, Texas ; 2 Daughters, Rhoda Jeans & Wes of Merryville and Mary Cornwell & David of Merryville; 1 Brother: Paul & June Whitman of DeQuincy, Louisiana ; 3 Sisters, Merlene Willett of Nederland, Texas , Doris Busby of Gainsville, Georgia and Catherine Sue Hollie & Pug of Cleveland, Texas ; 18 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Ms. Vivian was preceded in death by: her parents, Hamp & Nettie Whitman; one sister, Marie Whitman Fisher; 2 brothers, Alton Whitman & Edwin Whitman; Husbands, Ozel Franks and Lois L. Franks; 1 daughter, Paula Cornes; 1 grandson, Micheal Earl Franks and 2 great grandchildren, Alivia Hollie & Colton David Cornwell.

Joan Kathryn Archield

Joan Kathryn Archield, 77 of DeRidder, Louisiana , passed from this life on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

Visitation will begin Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 10:00 am until Service Time at 1:00 PM at Starlight Baptist Church in DeRidder with the Rev. James Piper officiating. Burial will be in Starlight Cemetery.

Survivors include: 3 Sons: Kirven Douglas Archield (Jean) of Wynn, ARK; Alfred Joseph Archiled (Brenday) of DeRidder, LA and Donavan Anthony Archield of Orlando, FL;3 Daughters: Thelma Beatrice Francisco of Glenmora, LA; Sharon Lynette Mclendon of DeRidder, LA and Dana Elizabeth Archield (Tyrone) of DeRidder, LA;2 Sisters: Elouise Miller of Albany, Georgia and Elizabeth Rice (Mac) of Hampton, VA and her Best Friend,

Lucy Charles “MaMa Lucy” of DeRidder, LA;17 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren and a Host of Nieces and Nephews

George P. Pickett, Sr., 56 of New Llano, LA departed this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Byrd Hospital in Leesville, LA.

VISITATION: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

SERVICE: 10:00 AM, Friday August 29, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial will be in Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder, LA with Bro. B.C. Ellis officiating.

Survivors include: Son: George P. Pickett, Jr. & wife Tammy of Anacoco, LA;

Daughters: Malinda Nash and husband Larry of DeRidder, LA and Alicia Pickett of Leesville, LA; 13 Grandchildren.

Mr. Pickett was preceded in death by his parents: George B. and Iva Jean Pickett.

Ora "Joe" Oren Myers, 79, passed from this life on Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, LA VISITATION: Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana from 4:00 – 9:00PM.GRAVE SIDE SERVICE: Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Good Hope in Singer, Louisiana at 2:00PM. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana .

Survivors include: Daughters: Joette and Richard Head of Merryville, Louisiana ; Liz and Wayne Wadkins of DeRidder, Louisiana and Lisa and Jerry Holman of Brookeland, Texas .Sons: David Baumgartner and wife Jackie of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Larry BarBee and wife Rebecca of Bakerman, Minnesota; Sister: Berdie and Conroy Hughs of Beaumont, Texas ; Daughter in Law: Laura Myers of DeRidder, Louisiana ; 15 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Wife, Lera Myers; Son, Buck Myers; Great Grandson, Billy Ferguson; Son in Law, James Frear.

Dora "Duddie" Harbison Williams

Dora "Duddie" Harbison Williams, 73, of DeRidder Passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008 in DeRidder, Louisiana . Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2008 and last until time of services at Oretta Pentecostal Church in Oretta, Louisiana . Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Oretta Pentecostal Church in Oretta, Louisiana . Bro. Samuel Ashworth will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana .

“Duddie” was a lifelong resident of DeRidder, Louisiana . She was employed by Westwood Manor Nursing Home where she retired after 27 years of service. “Duddie” was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and enjoyed feeding friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by the following: Husband of 40 years: Bobby Williams of DeRidder; Sons: Roy W. Harbison of Monroe, Louisiana ; Robert E. Harbison of DeRidder;Daughters: Kathy L. Keeney of Santa Ana, Texas ; Gale Grubbs of DeRidder; Cindy Tilley of DeRidder; Sister: Irene Doyle of Singer, Louisiana ;14 Grandchildren22 Great Grandchildren.

“Duddie” was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Alma Diron and 2 brothers & 2 sisters.

James C. Renfro

James “Jim” C. Renfro, 98., of DeRidder, Louisiana Passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana . Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday August 11, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Bro. Arthur Rockett will officiate.

Burial will be at Cooper Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana .

He is survived by the following:

Wife: Mary O. Renfro of DeRidder; Son: Fred Renfro of Mesa, Arizona; Daughters: Wilda Allen of DeRidder; Louise Hudson of DeRidder; Doris Springer of DeRidder; Pat Goebel of Ramona, California; Brothers: Abe Christian; Everett Christian; Charley Christian.

Natalia Craton Teal

Natalia Craton Teal, 91, departed this life on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Merryville Nursing Center in Merryville, Louisiana .
The memorial service will begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Merryville, Louisiana . Bro. Roderick Martin will officiate.
Mrs. Teal is survived by; her sister, Patty Sue Craton Spikes of Bancroft, Louisiana . Brothers; Charles T. Craton II of Rome, Georgia, Harold Mason Craton of Seminole, Florida, and Karl Larry Craton of St. Petersburg, Florida. 10 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces & nephews, and 2 great great nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Natalia served in the US Navy during World War II. She was enlisted from March of 1943 through April of 1954. Mrs Natalia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She traveled extensively and enjoyed playing bridge. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marshall Neil Hardeman

Marshall Neil Hardeman, 73, departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the University Medical Center of Lafayette, Louisiana surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder, Louisiana . The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery of DeRidder, Louisiana .

Mr. Hardeman was a member of the United States Army. He retired as an aerospace engineer from Lockheed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Delcine Hardeman of DeRidder, Louisiana . A son, Marshall Neil Hardeman, II and his wife Mignon C. Hardeman of Atlanta, GA. Also his two brothers

Mabel Franks departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the DeQuincy Memorial Hospital in DeQuincy, Louisiana .
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Boxwood Church of Christ in Bivens, Louisiana and will continue on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 9:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Bivens Cemetery.

Survivors include; Sons: Earl Franks and wife Dorothy of Merryville, Louisiana and Dale Franks and wife Cheryl of Merryville, Louisiana ; Daughters: Ina Davison of Many Louisiana , Yvonne Swilley and husband Donald of Belle Chasse, Louisiana , and Evelyn Michel and husband Vic of Belle Chasse, Louisiana ; Sisters: Lucy Franks of Merryville and Georgia Hasler of Lone Star, Texas ; 9 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren
Ms. Franks was preceded in death by her husband Herman Franks, a grandson Marty Davison and son in law David Davison.

Beulah Harriman, 93 departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, LA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 5:00 – 9:00PM and Saturday September 20 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana . The service will begin on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist in Rosepine, Louisiana at 2:00PM. interment will be in Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, Louisiana with Elders Perry Miers, Gerald Reid and Truman Keel ministering.

Survivors include a Son: Michael Harriman of Houston, Texas ; Daughter in Law: Sharon Harriman of Rosepine, LA

5 Grandchildren : Kim Craft, Jeff Harriman, Tim Harriman, Steve Harriman and Kelly Galin

4 Great Grandchildren: Austin Craft, Heath Harriman, Adam Harriman and Hunter Harriman

Beulah's Son, William "Bill" Harriman and Husband, Danford "Dan" Harriman proceeded her in death.
