Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmie L. Jordan, 79, will be held at 11 a.m.Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at New Light Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Winzer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Claiborne Parish, under the direction of Kennon and Sons Mortuary.
Visitation will be held today, Sept. 17, at the funeral home.Mrs. Jordan, a native of Claiborne Parish, Passed away Thursday, Sept.13, in Shreveport. She was born March 21, 1922.She is survived by her cousins, Lucille Miller of Pomona, Calif., LonnieMiller of Dallas, Texas , Faye Davis and Frank Davis, both of Detroit, Mich., Rosiland Walker, Mattie Bell Allen, Ozell Walker, and Marvin McClendon, all of Minden; Don McClendon of Longview, Texas , Linda Brackins of Gibsland, Bobbie McClendon of Springhill, and O.C. Dawson of Houston, Texas ; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Theodore Lewis
Funeral services for Mr. Theodore "Ted" Lewis, 64, will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Roy Strother and the Rev. Wayne Langston officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 10 p.m. today, April 1, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis, a native of Portland, Ind., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 31, in Shreveport. He was a retired electrician and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife Bessie Beatrice Pasley Lewis of Minden; two sons, Edward Allen and wife Ruth Lewis of Texarkana, Ark., and Lonnie Wayne Lewis of New Boston, Texas ; three daughters, Teresa Ann Lewis and husband Ray Williams of Waldo, Ark., Mary Beth Lewis Tillis of Newport News, Va., and Shirley Ann Lewis of Florida; two sisters, Betty Lewis of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mary Sue Thurman of Jonesboro, Ind.; two brothers, Tom and David Lewis of Portland; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday school class.

Pratt Merritt Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Pratt Merritt Jr., 68, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer with the Rev. Skip Palmer officiating. Burial followed at Tulip Cemetery in Athens.
Mr. Merritt, a resident of Minden all his life, Passed away Friday, March 29, in Minden. He was a welder.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Fannie Dean Merritt of Minden; two sons, Tommy F. Merritt and wife Sherry, and James Fredrick Merritt, all of Athens; and one daughter, Donna Sue Hollis and husband Douglas of Minden.

Robbie Mitcham
Graveside services for Mrs. Robbie Nell Miller Mitcham, 62, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Adrian DeLukie officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mitcham, a native of Evergreen and a resident of Haughton, Passed away Thursday, March 28, in Haughton. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband John Mitcham of Haughton; sons, David L. Robinson and wife Stacy of Heflin, James C. Robinson and wife Denise of Saline, and Martin T. Robinson and wife Renee of Mansfield; sister, Jo Ann Kendrick of Homer; brothers, Larry E. Miller of Evergreen, and Ben D. Miller of Evergreen; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Jim Kendrick, Larry Miller Jr., Jon Miller, Jeff Kendrick, Ed Miller and Steve Miller.

Donald Veitch
Funeral services for Mr. Donald Ray Veitch, 73, will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 1, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Veitch, a native and lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, March 29. He retired as captain with 22 years from the Louisiana State Police and was also past president and CEO of Anti-Pest & Veitch, Inc. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of First Baptist Church in Minden, and a member of the Louisiana State Troopers Association. The highlights of his life were his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Doyle and Jessie Veitch.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Georgia Faye Johnson Veitch of Minden; one son, Ronald Doyle Veitch of Minden; two daughters, Vickie Lynn Bennie of Port Neches, Texas , and Donna Faye Pate and husband Tony of Minden; four grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Bennie, Michelle Guthrie, Jason and Jennifer Veitch; and two granddogs, Sampson and Cinderella.
Pallbearers will be Sam Langley, Graydon Kitchens, Hal Jackson , Russell Adams, Leon Brinkley, Dr. Allen Tomlin, T.C. Bloxom and Willard McClung. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Kemp, Calvin Bagwell, Judge Cecil Lowe and Judge Enos McClendon.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Renovation Fund, St. Jude Hospital, or to the donorís choice.

James Adair
Funeral services for Mr. James Adair, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. E.D. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Union CME Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, March 29, until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Adair Passed away Tuesday, March 26, at Doctorís Hospital in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Adair and Judy Adair Houston, both of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mattie Adair of Sibley.

John H. Talton
Funeral services for Mr. John H. Talton, 66, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Springfield Baptist Church in Gibsland with the Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Gibsland under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today at the funeral home, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at Gibsland Educational Building.
Mr. Talton, a resident of Gibsland, Passed away Monday, March 25, at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center. He was born Aug. 22, 1935 in Bienville Parish to John Henry Sr. and Marzilar Albright Talton. At the time of his death, he was serving as constable for Bienville Parish-Gibsland and was an agent for Kennon and Sons Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Doris E. Talton of Gibsland; one son, Rickey Smith of Gibsland; two daughters, Zezete Talton of Gibsland and Gloria Newell of Alexandria, Va.; one granddaughter, Shamekila Quarles of Gibsland; one brother, Terrell Talton of Houston, Texas ; one sister, Camerson Talton of San LeAndro, Calif.; one uncle and aunt, Winfred and Esther Bell Albright of Minden; two brothers-in-law, the Rev. James Smith of Grambling and Otis Green of Arcadia; three sisters-in-law, Moselene Green of Arcadia, Gertie Hill and Bonnie Jack, both of Gibsland.

James Bolin
A memorial service will be held for Judge James E. Bolin, 87, at 2 p.m. today, March 28, 2002, at First United Methodist Church, Head of Texas , in Shreveport.
The 10th of 10 children, Judge James. E. Bolin, 87, was born in Doyline and reared in Webster Parish, Louisiana . After graduating from LSU Law School in 1937, he practiced law for a number of years in Minden and Springhill. In 1940, he was elected to the La. House of Representatives at age 25. In 1948, he was elected District Attorney for Webster and Bossier Parishes and served until 1952. He was elected District Judge for Webster and Bossier Parishes, serving from 1952 to 1960; and La. Second Circuit Court of Appeal Judge, serving from 1960 to 1979. He was Chief Judge of that Appeal Court for four years. By appointment, he served on the La. Supreme Court for several months in 1975.
His legal career was interrupted by services in the United States Army during World War II, where he served in the 30th and 39th Infantry Divisions. He participated in the Normandy Campaign, the Battle of the Bulge, and the concluding war effort in Germany. He attained the rank of Major in the Infantry and, as a result of his combat duty, was decorated for bravery.
Throughout his life, he was devoted to his church and his community. He was a longtime Sunday School teacher and held various church leadership positions. Further, he was recognized with many awards for community and professional achievement.
During his last seven years, he lived at Live Oak Retirement Community in Shreveport. The residents and staff there were very close to his heart.
Judge Bolin will be remembered for his inspiring presence, his keen wit, his sensitive nature, and his devotion to God, country and family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Martin Bolin; four children, Beth Bolin Falk; James E. Bolin Jr. and wife Mary Gray Bolin; Judge Bruce Bolin and wife Cindy Cain Bolin; and Becky Bolin Maupin; and husband Roger Maupin; grandchildren, Ellie Falk Gayle, wife of Greg Gayle; Tina Falk Ware, wife of John Ware; Brooke, Paige, and Hope Bolin; Rachel Lynn Cornell and husband Terry; and Sarah Lynn; and sister, Ora Bolin Watson.
The family expresses its appreciation to the many Christus Schumpert Medical Center and Dubuis Hospital Physicians and nursing personnel for their competent and caring treatment of Judge Bolin.
In lieu of flowers, please give donations in Judge Bolinís memory to First United Methodist Church in Shreveport or to Live Oak Retirement Community, 600 East Flournoy Lucas Road in Shreveport.

John H. Talton

Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Bell Bryant will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at New Hope Baptist Church in Haughton. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Haughton under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Josephine Batten
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Rice Batten were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Growing Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Minden. With the Rev. George Rice officiating. Burial followed at Growing Valley Cemetery.

Joe F. Lary
Funeral services for Mr. Joe F. Lary, 73, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Wayne DuBose officiating and Dr. Harry Bowman assisting. Burial followed at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Lary, a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 21. Known throughout the stateís education circles as a man of strong character and quiet resolve, he spent a lifetime promoting vocational education. Employed for the startup of the Minden Trade School, now Northwest Louisiana Technical College, in 1952, he served as cabinetmaking instructor, drafting instructor, counselor and assistant director, prior to being named the schoolís director in 1967. He served as president of the Louisiana Technical College Directorsí Association in the 70s. He retired as director of Northwest in 1983 to continue his pursuit for excellence in vocational education. In the 1990s, he served as consultant for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and played an instrumental role in the national accreditation of the Council on Occupational Education, which serves as the only nationally recognized accrediting agency for post-secondary technical education institutions.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Minden, where he served throughout his life. He was an ordained deacon, a past member of the Adult Choir, a member of the Jack Woodard Sunday school class. Active in community affairs, he was past president of the Civitans and served as Chairman of the Board for the Webster Parish Council on Aging.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius S. and Pink Lary of Minden.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Horn Lary; three children, Andy and wife Judy Lary of Midland, Texas , Diann L. Greer of McComb, Miss., and Brenda and husband Lee Thomasson of Richmond, Va.; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Julia Faye Lary of Arcadia, Elsie Mae and husband Ben Madden of East Point; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a host of "adopted" children.
Pallbearers were James Bishop, James T. Davis, Terry Gray, Russell L. Greer, Will Franklin Greer, Rupert Krouse, Odie Moore, and Perry Sanders.

Stanley Quade
Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Bert Quade, 87, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Wayne DuBose officiating. Burial followed at Minden Cemetery.
Mr. Quade Passed away Wednesday, March 20, after a sudden illness. He owned Quade Studios for more than 50 years where he still worked every day with his son, John. He belonged to the Minden Civitan Club for more than 50 years and was the oldest living Civitan Club member in the state of Louisiana . He was also a member of the American Legion and served in the United States Army during World War II. He held his four grandchildren very dear to his heart. They all referred to him as their "D-Daddy."
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Davis Quade; parents John Albert and Ada Maul Quade; and one brother, John Quade.
He is survived by his son, John Edward Quade of Minden; daughters, Connie Aclin and husband Ken of Shreveport, Janet Sessions and husband Charles of Bossier City; grandchildren, Scott Aclin of Little Rock, Ark., Emily Aclin of Shreveport, Drew Sessions of Tyler, Texas , and Lauren Sessions of Bossier City; and sister, Harriet Harkness and husband Bill of LaVerne, Calif.
Pallbearers were William Richard Hackett, Joe Holley, Marvin Ford, Steve Bryan, Ed LaBruyere, Jerry McCoy, Truman Walker, and George Calvit. Honorary pallbearers were the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Minden, the Minden Civitan Club and Eldred Lowe.

Henry B. Pratt
Funeral services for Mr. Henry B. Pratt, 70, of Arcadia will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia. The Rev. Larry Joyner will officiate with burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Mr. Pratt, a welder by trade, Passed away Saturday, March 23, at the Baptist Retirement Center of Arcadia.
He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Pratt.
Survivors include one son, Michael Pratt of Jackson ; two brothers, William Heflin Sr. of Gibsland and Wilden Barker of Orange, Va.; three sisters, Margaret Nelson of Athens, Carolyn Prothro of Newalla, Okla., and Barbara Heflin of Arcadia; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Nelson, Chuck Bellew, Donnie Bellew, William Heflin Jr., David Heflin and Joseph Heflin. Honorary pall bearer will be Jeremy Humble.
