Dennis Clark
Funeral services for Mr. Dennis "Doc" Clark, 86, were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Beach Grove Baptist Church in Spearsville. Burial will follow at Beach Grove Cemetery in Spearsville under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Clark, a native of Spearsville, Passed away Friday, March 15, at Union General Hospital. He was born May 18, 1915 to the late Chancy Christopher. He married Dornice Clark on Oct. 1, 1935 and to this union, eight children were born. He attended Beach Grove Baptist Church and was a resident of Chateau Darbone Nursing Home.
He was a jack of all trades. There was no job too big or too small for him. Whether it was plumbing, carpentry, butchering, or rearing his children of someone elseís child, whether they were black or white.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Red and Pete Clark; three brothers; three sisters; and one brother-in-law.
He is survived by his three daughters and three sons, Ron Clark and wife Rose, Yevone McKinsey, all of Minden; Dorothy and husband Karl of Bernice, Amos Clark, Julia Taylor , and David Clark, all of Spearsville; one daughter-in-law, Mary Clark of Alexandria; one sister, Urteria Clark of Portland, Ore.; 10 sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law; a host of relatives; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; nieces-in-law; and nephews-in-law.
He was also cherished by the Bennetts, Kisingers, Gilmons and many other families.

Sadie Cobb Jackson
Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Cobb Jackson will be held today, March 22, 2002, in Battle Creek, Mich.
Mrs. Jackson , a native of Minden, was one of 14 children of George and Mary Bell Cobb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jackson ; her parents; five sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by her son, Lavern Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; daughter, Dianne Story of Battle Creek; sisters, Lois Floyd of Long Beach, Calif., and Kattie Foster of Compton, Calif; brothers, Richard Cobb Sr. of Minden and Wilbert Cobb of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Moore
Funeral services for Mr. James Moore, 97, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at New St. Mary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jebby Demon officiating. Burial will follow at Old St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held today from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore Passed away March 17 at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by brothers Sidney Moore of Coushatta and Marchell Moore of Houston, Texas , and a sister, Annie Mae Johnson of Coushatta.

Stanley Bert Quade
Funeral services for Stanley Bert Quade, 87, were to be held at 11 a.m. today at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Wayne DuBose of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was to follow at Minden Cemetery.
Mr. Quade was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Albert and Ada Maul Quade on May 22, 1914. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden.
Mr. Quade owned Quade Studio for more than 50 years where he still worked every day with his son, John Quade. Mr. Quade belonged to the Minden Civitan Club for more than 50 years and was the oldest living Civitan Club member in the State of Louisiana . He was also a member of the American Legion and served in the United States Army during World War II. He held his four grandchildren very dear to his heart. They all referred to him as their "D-Daddy."
Mr. Quade is preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Davis Quade; parents John Albert and Ada Maul Quade; and brother, John Quade.
He is survived by his son, John Edward Quade of Minden; daughters, Connie Aclin and husband Ken of Shreveport and Janet Session and husband Charles of Bossier City; grandchildren, Scott Aclin of Little Rock, Ark., Emily Aclin of Shreveport, Drew Sessions of Tyler, Texas , and Lauren Sessions of Bossier City; sister, Harriet Harkness and husband Bill of LaVerne, Calif.
Pallbearers were William Richard Hackett, Joe Holley, Marvin For, Steve Bryan, Ed LaBruyere, Jerry McCoy, Truman Walker and George Calvit. Honorary pallbearers were the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church Minden, the Minden Civitan Club and Eldred Lowe.

John Andrew Sterling
Funeral services for Mr. John Andrew Sterling, 73, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the District Building with the Rev. Joshua Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery under the direction of Miller Pioneer Funeral Home.
Mr. Sterling Passed away Thursday, March 14.
He is survived by his mother, Elnora Calton of Minden; wife, Margaret R. Sterling of Minden; sons Johnny Ray Sterling of Corpus Christi, Texas , John S. Sterling of Los Angeles, Calif., Bruce Sterling, Anthony Sterling, John (Raweta) Sterling, all of Minden; daughters Ivory Sterling, John Ester Sterling, Gwendolyn Sterling, Patricia (Malcolm) Alexander, all of Minden, Ethel (Herman) Williams of Homer, Barber Carter of Shreveport, Sherry (James) McFarland of San Antonio, Texas ; brother Billy Sterling of California; 36 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Gordon LaBaron
Funeral services for Mr. Gordon LaBaron, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Gilgal Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Woodard officiating and the Rev. Randy Hale assisting. Burial will follow at Gilgal Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today, March 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. LaBaron, a native of Tullos and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, March 18, in Shreveport. He was an advertising manager for West Gibson Corp. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and graduated from Tulane University. He was an active member of the Northwest Louisiana Bluegrass Club.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn LaBaron of Minden; sons, Richard Gordon LaBaron of San Antonio, Texas , David LaBaron of Dubberly and William Crawford LaBaron of Minden; daughters, Alice Anne LaBaron of Valencia, Calif., Lynn LaBaron of Birmingham, Ala., and Gaye LaBaron of Ruston; sister, Yvonne Cowan of Bossier City; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives.
Pallbearers will be his six grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Garrison, Hamp Law, Hugh LaBaron, Frank Hicks, Jim Lowther, David Frizzelle and James "Bubba" Reeves.

Mary Davidson
Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Grace Fitzgerald Davidson, 88, were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Karl Daigle officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Davidson, a native of Minden and a resident of Baton Rouge, Passed away Thursday, March 14, in Baton Rouge. She was a former resident of Minden and White Castle, and a retired legal secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B. Irwin Davidson; parents, William L. Fitzgerald and Mari "Mamie" Fitzgerald; brothers, Thomas L. Fitzgerald, Robert Minden and William Webster Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her son, Byron Davidson and wife JoAnn of Baton Rouge; and grandson William M. Davidson and wife Brandon of Baton Rouge.
Memorials may be made to St. Paulís Catholic Church in Minden.

Warren Dietrich
Memorial service for Mr. Warren Emile Dietrich, 89, were to be held at 10:30 a.m. today, March 18, 2002, at St. Johnís Episcopal Church in Minden with the Rev. Robert Dandridge officiating. A reception was to follow at the church. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Dietrich, a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, March 15, in Minden following a lengthy illness. He was a native of New Orleans and had lived in Minden for the past 60 years. He was an agent for the Pardee Co. and a veteran of World War II, serving as captain in the Army, attached to the Tenth Port of Embarkation, Corps of Engineers. He graduated with honors from Louisiana State University School of Forestry. Mr. Dietrich was a junior and senior warden of St. Johnís Episcopal Church, retired director of the Minden Bank & Trust Co., past president of the Louisiana Forestry Association, past president of the Board of Trustees of the Webster Parish Library, and a Modisette Award winner.
He was also past president of the Minden Regional Planning Commission, past chairman of the Minden Airport Authority, past president of the Minden Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Minden Lions Club. He was "Minden Man of the Year, 1965," as well as "LSU School of Forestry Alumnus of the Year, 1965."
He is survived by his wife, Sue Sanders Dietrich of Minden; two daughters, Susan Dietrich Rolfs and husband Emile Christian Rolfs of Baton Rouge, and Kristine Dietrich Keating of Shreveport; five grandchildren, Susannah Rolfs Elliot and husband Jeffrey Johnson Elliot of Charleston, S.C., Charlotte Elizabeth Rolfs of New Orleans, Ainsley Rolfs Grigsby of Baton Rouge, Dr. Christine Mischler Keating of Charleston, and John Walsh Keating of Atlanta, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, William Lane Grigsby of Baton Rouge and Samuel Johnson Elliot of Charleston.
Memorials may be made to St. Johnís Episcopal Church, 1107 Broadway, Minden LA 71055, Warren Dietrich Scholarship Fund at St. Johnís, the Webster Parish Library or the Louisiana Forestry Foundation.

Horace Dean
Funeral services for Mr. Horace "Jack" Greeley Dean, 95, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Ark., with the Rev. Stephen Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow at Kirbyís Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the funeral home.
Mr. Dean Passed away Thursday, March 14, at Twin Lakes Nursing Center. He was born Nov. 27, 1906 in Greenwood Springs, Miss., to James Walter and Minnie Gray Gordon Dean. He married Lucille Rentfrow on Nov. 10, 1931 at Guymon, Okla. He was last district gauger for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 43 years. He was a resident of Lakeview, Ark., since moving from Minden in 1996. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Harold K. Dean and wife Dorothy of Conroe, Texas , and Jimmy D. Dean and wife Jeanelle of Tomball, Texas ; two daughters, Betty L. Richards and husband David of Venice, Calif., and Ellen Reed and husband Donald of Lakeview; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Gideons.

Scott Goss
Graveside services for Mr. Scott Boyd Goss, 70, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haughton with Dr. Jimmy Simeon of First Baptist Church in Homer officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the funeral home.
Mr. Goss, a native of Bernice and a resident of Sandpoint, Idaho, Passed away Monday, March 11, in Sandpoint. He was born July 25, 1931 to Leonard and Barbara Goss. He grew up and attended schools in Bossier City, graduating in 1948. He married Beatrice Cooper on Aug. 31, 1950 in Bossier City.
He went to work for Gulf Oil and later for Exxon as a truck driver. He retired from Exxon in 1981. He and his wife built a home on the lake in Homer and in 1996, the couple moved to Sandpoint.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Homer and a past president of the Minden Lionís Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Michael Goss of Bakersfield, Calif., Allen Goss of Bossier City and Robert Goss of Homer; one daughter, LeAnne Nagle of Big Fork, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Marilyn Roton
Funeral services for Mrs. Marilyn Faircloth Roton, 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Randy Hales officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. for friends, today, March 15, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roton, a native of Princeton and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 14, in Shreveport. She was an inspector at the Army Ammunition Plant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Roton, and daughter, Amanda Faye Roton.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis P. Roton and wife Judith of Brewtonís Mill, Harold E. Roton and wife Tera Sue of Minden, and Jeffery Steve Roton of Shreveport; sister, Faye Vise of Minden; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nephews; and five nieces.
Pallbearers will be Dennis P. Roton, Harold E. Roton, Jeffery Steve Roton, Jessie Patrick Roton, Shawn Travis Ehrenzweig and Christopher Roton.

Mamon Wesley
Funeral services for Mr. Mamon Wesley, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Southside Missionary Baptist Church with J.R. Washington officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Wesley Passed away Thursday, March 7, at his residence.
He is survived by two brothers, John Wesley and Kemp Wesley, both of Minden; and three sisters, Georgia McDaniel of Minden, Opalene Braford of Minden and Gloria Grant of Houston, Texas .

William Meeks
Funeral services for Mr. William Ray Meeks, 85, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, March 13, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with Dr. Wayne Evans officiating and the Rev. Robert L. Peyton assisting. Burial was to follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery.
Mr. Meeks, formerly of Arcadia and a resident of Shreveport, Passed away Tuesday, March 12, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Health Center. He was an auto mechanic and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a longtime resident and civic and business leader in Arcadia. He served in many capacities as a member of First United Methodist Church in Arcadia for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Bridges Meeks of Shreveport; daughter, Debbie Taylor and husband Jack of Shreveport; granddaughters, Jennifer Zehnder and husband of Lafayette and Bridget Taylor of Durham, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Grace Zehnder of Lafayette; sisters, Ruby Burrow of Shreveport, Hildred Moore of Monroe and Mildred Middleton of West Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be Gary Green, Ken Burrow, Gerald Burrow, Todd Zehnder, Larry Penix and Dave White .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arcadia First United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Elvada Ray
Funeral services for Mrs. Elvada "Vada" Watson Ray, 97, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 13, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with Dr. Wayne Evans officiating and the Rev. Robert L. Peyton assisting. Burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray, a resident of Arcadia, Passed away Monday, March 11, at Arcadia Baptist Retirement Center. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Coffee; second husband Lamar Ray; six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, Murry Coffee and wife Elaine of Fresno, Calif.; step-sons, Sidney Ray and wife Maggie of Arcadia, Reginald Ray and wife Laverne of Opelousas; sisters, Chloe Tebbetts of Patterson and Hertense "Tensie" W. Johnson and husband Prentice of Minden; special sister-in-law, Cordelia Watson of Shreveport; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Robert Lamar Ray, Richard Wayne Johnson , Tommy Watson, Will Henry Tensley, J.M. Lamkin Jr. and Gordie Dance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arcadia First United Methodist Church.
