Funeral services for Mrs. Ellena Quarles will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. today, March 13, at the funeral home.

Kristal Dillard
Graveside services for Kristal Dillard, 11 days old, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Sheppard Street Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Kristal is survived by her parents, Raymond and LaTonya Dillard of Minden; two sisters, Raylicia Dillard and Sheli'A Dillard, both of Minden; grandparents, Wilkins and Ivie Jenkins and Leroy Grider, all of Minden; and many other relatives and family friends.

Rush Weatherton
Funeral services for Mr. Rush Weatherton, 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. James Landfair officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Weatherton is survived by three sons, Timothy Weatherton, Malcom Weatherton and Kenny Weatherton, all of Sibley; one daughter, Gloria Dean Weatherton of Baltimore, Md.; one stepdaughter, Renay Hollinquest of Sibley; one brother, Chester Weatherton of Sibley; two sisters, Ervie Lee Smith and Christene Youngblood, both of Richmond, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Callie Woods
Funeral services for Mrs. Callie Woods , 92, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at St. Mary Baptist Church in Ringgold with the Rev. Huey P. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, March 12, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Woods is survived by nine children, Alma Pope of Compton, Calif. (presently residing in Ringgold), Wade Woods and wife Marie, Nora Walker and husband Ezell, all of Kansas City, Kan., Albert Woods and wife Betty, Sam Woods and wife Doris, and Clotiel Woods , all of Los Angeles, Calif., Gloria Morris of Columbus, Ga., Charles Woods of Ringgold and Richard Woods of Dallas, Texas ; four sisters, including Corine Sutton, Minerva Goston and Honey Goston; one brother, Ben Goston; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Ezell Abram
Funeral services for Mrs. Ezell Abram, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. B.J. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. today, March 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Abram, a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, March 4, at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by one son, Henry Yeldell of Glendale, Texas ; two daughters, Cassandra Swan and LaJune McDonald, both of Minden; one brother, Predennis Washington of Longview, Texas ; four grandchildren, Brain Swan of Memphis, Tenn., Daneon Abram, Eiuan McDonald and Saundrea Johnson , all of Minden; and one great-grandchild, Avona Swan of Memphis.

Fannie B. Jefferson
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie B. Jefferson , 94, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie C. Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Jefferson , a lifelong resident of the St. James Community, Passed away Wednesday, March 6, at her residence, where she lived with her niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Wilson of Shreveport. They were her caretakers for several years.
She was a retired teacher of the Webster Parish School System and a faithful member of St. James Baptist Church until her health failed her.
She is survived by her caretakers and several other nieces and nephews.

Elie Lee
Funeral services for Mr. Elie "Shep" Lee will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at Growing Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. George Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Growing Valley Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Lula B. Jacobs Lee of Minden; three children, Velma Floyd of Los Angeles, Calif., Thelma Burson and husband John L. and Ruby Musgrow and husband, Franklin, all of Minden; three adopted daughters, Dorothy Hicks of Fort Wayne, Ind., Daisy Givens of Richmond, Calif., and Curtis Morgan of Houma; a devoted nephew, A.G. Green of Minden; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Gail Kennon
Funeral services for Mrs. Gail Felts Kennon will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, at St. Johnís Episcopal Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Kennon, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, March 6. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University where she received a masterís degree plus 30. She retired from the Webster Parish School System where she taught English at Minden High School. She also worked for the LSU Agriculture Extension Service and was co-owner of Century 21, Mike Kennon and Associates. At Century 21, she was relocation director and office manager.
She was a member of the Association of Professional Educators of Louisiana , Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority; Phi Kapp Phi. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, for which she held the state historian job plus several state chairmanships. She was the author of a number of genealogy articles in genealogy publications and the author of the published, "German Carolineans; The Lineage of Emmett Rendol Felts." She also served as president of the Webster Convention and Tourist Bureau. She was a member of St. Johnís Episcopal Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rendol Felts and sister, Ginger Hovey.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Kennon; mother, Lucille Beatty Felts; sisters, Sharon and Beth Elkins and husband John of Spotsylvania, Va.; son, Rusty Davis and wife Nell of Bald Knob, Ark.; stepdaughter, Robin Kennon Cox and husband Terry of Shreveport; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Davis; three step-grandchildren, Brandy, Josuah and Barry; a special brother-in-law, Edward Kennon and wife Brenda and nieces, Kari Kennon of Shreveport; three nephews and one niece, Bart Elkins, Slade Elkins, Robert Carlisle and Carolu Elkins.
Memorials may be made to St. Johnís Episcopal Church or the Webster Parish Education Trust Fund.

Eva Bridges
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Lee Kinabren Bridges, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Dudley Poda officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery near Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 6, and from 8 a.m. until time of services, Thursday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bridges, a native of Greenville, Miss., and a resident of Quitman, Passed away Tuesday, March 5, at Lincoln General Hospital after a short illness. She was a graduate of Minden High School and Louisiana Tech University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bridges.
She is survived by one son, Charles Bridges of Quitman; one daughter, Evelyn Bridges Thomas and husband Alvin of Bossier City; grandchildren, David Thomas and wife Kim of Keller, Texas , Deborah Thomas of Shreveport and Sharon Thomas of Bossier City.

Norma Miller
Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Lee McEachern Miller, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 5, 2002, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Crain officiating and the Rev. Don McCormick assisting. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Miller, a native of Waldo, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 3, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of this area. She was a faithful member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Miller, on May 23, 1998; parents, Wesley C. and Oma Branch McEachern; and one son, Jack H. Miller Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Rickie Miller and wife Judy; and Terry Miller and wife Debra, all of Minden; daughters, Jackie M. McGuire and husband David of Minden and Linda Fomby and husband Steve of Haughton; sisters, Idessa Tyler of Springhill, Joyce Boyler and Sue Kendrick, both of Minden; brothers, Prentis McEachern of Dubberly, John Earl McEachern, Denton McEachern, Jerry McEachern, Wayne McEachern, Gerald McEachern and Ellis McEachern, all of Minden; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian McGuire, Craig Fomby, Jason Miller, Jacob Miller, David Mitcham, Chris Adams and David Cockrell. Honorary pallbearer will be Caleb Miller.

Doris Baldwin
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Baldwin, 68, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Springhill CME Church. Burial will follow at Springhill CME Church Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baldwin is survived by one daughter, Johnnye Kennon of Minden; one sister, Opehila Mims of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Daniel Williams of Chicago, Ill.; two grandsons, Jon D. Kennon of Minden and Yan M. Kennon, serving with the Navy in Florida; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Lucille Dean
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Dean, 89, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Ark. with the Rev. Stefan Eubanks officiating. Burial followed at Kirbyís Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home.
Mrs. Dean, a native of Van, Mo., and a resident of Lakeview, Ark. since December 1996, Passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, at Twin Lakes Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 20, 1913 in Van. She was a former resident of Minden and was a homemaker. She was married Nov 10, 1931 at Guymon, Okla., and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa Ellen Davison and James Robert Rentfrow.
She is survived by her husband, Horace "Jack" Dean of Lakeview; two sons, Harold K. Dean and wife Dorothy of Conroe, Texas , and Jimmie D. Dean and wife Jeanelle of Tomball, Texas ; two daughters, Betty L. Richards and husband David of Venice, Calif., and Ellen D. Reed and husband Donald of Lakeview; two brothers, Alpha Rentfrow and wife Marie and Cecil Rentfrow and wife Kathryn, both of Borger, Texas ; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Gideons.

James Foster Sr.
Graveside services for Mr. James Clyde Foster Sr., 76, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden with full military rites by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Lydia Baptist Church in Huxley, Texas , where he was a member, with the Rev. Gordon Vaughan officiating at both services. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Foster, a native of Hineston, Texas , and a resident of Shelbyville, Texas , for the last 13 years, Passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, in Shreveport after a long illness. He was a retired maintenance foreman for the Reef Corp., with 18 years of service, a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, and a member of the Dubach Masonic Lodge in Dubach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Valrus and Ethel Griffith Foster; four sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Marcelyn F. Foster of Shelbyville; daughter, Theresa Foster Phillips and husband Larry of Lufkin, Texas ; sons, James Clyde "Butch" Foster Jr. and his wife Linda of Ocean Springs, Miss., and John Randy Foster of Fayetteville, Ark.; grandchildren, Marisa Phillips, Jill Emshoff, Brianne Phillips, Jaime OíGwynn and Todd Foster; and great-grandson, Joshua Emshoff.
Honorary pallbearers were J.F. Walker, Grant VanOrsdol, Perry Foster, Thomas Copes, Todd Foster, Josh Emshoff and Larry Phillips.

Edna Hammontree
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Liles Hammontree, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at New Hope Baptist Church in Athens with the Rev. Eddie Balance and the Rev. Roy Strother officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, March 4, and from 7 until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hammontree, a native of Athens and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 3. She was born and raised in Athens, but she chose Minden as the place to raise her family. She was a member of North Acres Baptist Church in Minden and was a retired waitress. She served nearly every resident in Minden at one time or another. Her customers were always dear to Mrs. Hammontree.
She is survived by two sons, F.M. Liles and wife Sue of Minden and Bobby Liles and wife Nan of Athens; six grandchildren, Sharon Seymour and husband Charlie of Ocean Springs, Miss., David Liles of Athens, Paul Liles of Haughton, Jimmy Liles and wife Angie of Bossier City, Jeff Liles of Minden and Kelly Faulkner and husband John of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Finnis Zappa, Ronnie Liles, Roland Liles, John Faulkner, Ray Rigdon, Charlie Seymour and Jerry Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Hammontreeís name to the building fund at North Acres Baptist Church in Minden.

Lewis Knight
Graveside services for Mr. Lewis Allen Knight, 64, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, March 4, 2002, at Arlington Cemetery in Homer with the Rev. Charles Penuell officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer.
Mr. Knight, a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, at his residence following a sudden illness. He was a retired self-employed businessman in sandblasting and painting and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Knight; brother, John Frederick Knight; and sister, Betty Ann Knight Wallace.
He is survived by his mother, Montie Speer of Homer; two sisters, Brenda Chandler and husband Don of Homer and Louise Earnest and husband Richard of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother, Dennis Cole Knight and wife Georgia of Minden; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were to be members of his family.

Donnie McCoy
Funeral services for Mr. Donnie McCoy, 59, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. T.A. Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, March 4, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. McCoy is survived by one daughter, Stacey Hardeman of California; three sisters, Esther Albright and Sarah Lewis, both of Minden, and Mary Jean Pearson of Delhi; one brother, Charlie C. McCoy of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

George Collier
Funeral services for Mr. George Elmo Collier, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 1, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Springhill with the Rev. Donald Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.
Mr. Collier, a resident of Springhill, Passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Springhill Medical Center. He was a resident of Springhill since 1938. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, was in the choir, a Sunday school teacher of the junior boys and worked as a machinist for International Paper Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Mary Yates Collier; brothers, Gilbert, Herbert, Guy and Cecil Collier; sisters, Lorene Crain and Bea Rogers; one granddaughter, Rene Collier; and one great-grandson, Jay Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie Bolton Collier of Springhill; daughter, Mary Twitty and husband Wade of Magnolia, Ark.; sons, James Collier and wife Sandra of Lubbock, Texas , and Dwight Collier and wife Barbara of Haughton; brother, Clyde Collier of Ringgold; sister, Sue Strange of Gretna; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons-in-law and the honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church in Springhill.
