Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Jason will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Myers Memorial COGIC in Ringgold. Burial will follow at St. Mark Cemetery in Hall Summit under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., prior to service.

Martha Cantrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Parker Cantrell, 72, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Starnes, pastor of Bovina Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley with graveside services at 3 p.m.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., today, June 6, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cantrell, a native of Clay and a former resident of Sibley, Passed away Wednesday, June 5 at Vicksburg Medical Center. She lived in Vicksburg since 1967. She was a member of Bovina Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies II Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Florence Cooper Parker; and her husband, C.F. Cantrell Jr.
She is survived by her son, Dennis A. Cantrell of Lake Charles; two daughters, Teri Cantrell Lewis of Covington, and Bonnie E. Cantrell of Vicksburg, Miss.; three grandchildren; three brothers, J.R. Parker of Malvern, Ark., Gaylen Parker of Arcadia, and Nody Parker; two sisters, Katherine P. McDonald of Texarkana, Ark., Ernestine DeMarco of Blue Bell, Pa.; and brother-in-law, Frank Cantrell of Byhalia, Miss.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Wooten; Dr. Joe Ross; James Gandy; Al Hoxie; Dr. Thomas Sligh; Gerald Cantrell; Jeff Gandy; Dr. Daniel P. Edney; Jackie Gandy; and Joe Gandy.

Odell Harris
Funeral services for Mr. Odell Harris will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Taylor .

Jessie Moore
Funeral services for Mr. Jessie Moore will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Galilee Baptist Church in Dubberly. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Heflin.

Vernice Hillidge
Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Ancelet Hillidge, 70, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, June 3, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin.
Mrs. Hillidge, a resident of Sibley, Passed away Saturday, June 1. She was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Roberts Cove. She was active in the Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Semar Ancelet; and a brother, Clarence Estelet.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, J.D. (Dannie) Hillidge; son, Jefferson Wayne Hillidge; daughter, Pamela Kaye Hillidge; son, Jerry Cole Hillidge and wife Patsy; granddaughters, Julie Alans Hillidge and Betsy Ann Hillidge; sisters, Ethel Mae Murphy, Agnes Rainer, Gladys Guidry; brother, Walter Ancelet and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be J.C. Merritt, Doyle Chandler, Michael Thomas, Frank Cantrell, Joe Hinton, and Curtis Taylor . Honorary pallbearers are to be Raymond Parker and nephews, Don Guidry, Mike Murphy, Randy Guidry, Rayford Ancelet and Daniel Boulet.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ila Holcomb
Funeral services for Mrs. Ila Martin Holcomb, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today, June 3, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holcomb, a resident of Dubberly, Passed away Saturday, June 1, at I.H.S. Nursing Home in Minden. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Holcomb Jr. of Dubberly; one son, Glen L. Holcomb and wife Becky of Minden; two daughters, Gloria H. Sullivan and husband Johnny of Minden and Sharon H. Watts and husband Danny of Ocean Springs, Miss.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alva "Bud" Martin and wife Doris of Minden; two sisters, Honor Beauchamp and husband Bill and Donald Grice, all of Lewis, Del.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Plunkett, Danny Watts, John Sullivan, Johnny Sullivan, Glen L. Holcomb II and Mike Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Crawford, Randy Grice and Danny Sullivan.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Mary Kennon
Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Nehring Kennon, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 3, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Dr. Ronald Price officiating.
Mrs. Kennon, a resident of Doyline, Passed away Thursday, May 30, while at Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport. She loved living in the country enjoying her garden, flowers, birds and animals as well as managing her apartments. Mrs. Kennon was well known for her vivacious, energetic personality. Her absence has created a void, but her vitality has left a ray of sunshine that will never fade.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allen R. Nehring and grandparents, Julius C. Nehring of Wisconsin and Dr. and Mrs. S.C. Cade of Many.
She is survived by her two sons, Rodney Kennon and wife Jymme of Bossier City, John Kennon of Minden; daughter, Kelly Gillis and husband Don of Haughton; grandchildren, Brad, Steven and Jennifer Kennon, Jodi and Tyler Gillis, and Natalie Butler; parents, Vicky Cade Fischer and Clarence Fischer of Bossier City; brothers, Steve Nehring and wife, Sally, and Donald Fischer of Shreveport, and Greg Fischer and wife Karen of Atlanta, Ga.
Memorials may be made to Bossier Kids, Inc., 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, La., 71111, a foster care program supporting needy children.

Lillian Watts
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Maxine Watts, 82, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Mike Benefield officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Watts, a native of Coushatta and a resident of Minden since 1945, Passed away Thursday, May 30, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Ethel Collins; sisters, DaNaese Moore and Clarice Vascou.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Henry L. Watts of Minden; son, Jimmy Ray Watts and wife Adela of San Lorenzo, Calif.; daughters, Nona Sale and husband Doug of Minden, Judy Rider and husband Tom of Hickory, N.C.; sisters, Enette Jones of Minden, Amy Leggett of La Marque, Texas , and Verdie Young of California; brothers, S.J. Collins of Louisville, Ky., and Phillip Collins of Alexandria; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lonnie Williams Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Williams Sr., 99, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. B.F. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 4, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams, a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, May 31, in Shreveport. He was born March 22, 1903. He was a pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement in Minden, the owner and operator of the first black dry cleaners in Minden, and the first black barber in Minden. He was also a crossing guard for Webster Parish School for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret V. Williams of Minden; three sons, Aubrey L. Williams, Carlton A. Williams, and Stepfret Williams Sr., all of Minden; two daughters, Mary Ann Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Linda Williams of Minden; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Webster Alexander Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Webster Alexander Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Shreveport. Burial will follow at Lake Bethlehem Cemetery in Shreveport.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the funeral home in Shreveport. The remains will lie in state today, May 29, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Elvin Coleman
Funeral services for Mr. Elvin Coleman will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Galilee Baptist Church in Dubberly. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the funeral home.

Joyce Culverhouse
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Templeton Culverhouse, 61, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at First Assembly of God in Minden with the Rev. Jim Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, May 29, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Culverhouse, a native of Doddridge, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, May 27, in Minden.
She was a civil service employee, retired from Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City at the Staff Judge Advocate's Office. Prior employers include, Louisiana /Longhorn Ammunition plant, Veteran's Administration, Social Security Office, and a local law firm. She was also a former Christian Book store owner. Mrs. Culverhouse was also a commissioned Notary Public since 1975 and a certified paralegal since 1995. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Minden and was active in music and teaching programs of the church. She loved gardening, genealogy and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her father, Noble Ardell Templeton.
She is survived by her mother, Marie Owens Cundiff of Minden; husband, Elvin R. Culverhouse of Minden; son, Dwayne Culverhouse and wife Karen of Minden; daughter, Denise Cloud of Hixson, Tenn.; sister, Peggy Waltman and husband Dave of Minden; brother, James W. Templeton and wife Margaret of Shreveport; grandchildren, Christopher Cloud, Stephanie Cloud, Jeremy Culverhouse, Matthew Culverhouse, and Britten Culverhouse; numerous nieces and nephews; stepbrothers, Lloyd Cundiff and wife Bernice, Charles Cundiff and wife Bettye, all of Minden, M.L. Cundiff Jr. and wife Peggy of Shreveport, Samuel Cundiff and wife Laverne of Marshall, Texas ; stepsisters, Louise Greer of Ben Wheeler, Texas , Virginia Hood and husband James of Lufkin, Texas .
Pallbearers will be Danny Dean, Jimmy Dean, Charles Thomas, Richard Boddie, Brad Dean, Sean Cloud, Neal Reese, and Wayne Dishman.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at First Assembly of God Church in Minden, or the Hillcrest Children's Home in Hot Springs, Ark.

Funeral services for Mr. Rogers Flournoy will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Edrick Simon Jr.
Funeral services for infant Edrick Bernard Simon Jr., 2 days old, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Charlie Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, May 29, at the funeral home.
He was born Friday, May 24, at 6:54 p.m. at Willis Knighton-South Hospital. He Passed away Sunday, May 26, at 9:16 p.m. at the hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Edrick Sr., and Shawnae Simon of Minden; one brother, Tyquandre' Tadarryl Carpenter of Minden; two sisters, Nyja Quantavia Simon and La'Precious Quantravia Joi' Simon, both of Minden; maternal grandparents, Milton L. Carpenter Sr. of Toledo, Ohio, and Janice Baker Taylor and husband Herbert Jr. of Corona, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Ethel Lee Blackwell of Shreveport; maternal great-grandparents, William Archie and Clarice Baker, both of Kensett, Ark.; two uncles, Milton L. Carpenter Jr. of Toledo, and Brian K. Carpenter of Pearland, Texas ; one aunt, Shevella T. Carpenter of Cincinnati, Ohio; very special Godparents and friends, Thomas and Dicy Cowart of Shreveport; a special great uncle and aunt, Marshall and Adelle Baker of Minden; great aunts and uncles, Mary Means of Toledo, Ohio, Patricia E. Johnson , Machell Baker Roberson and husband Chester, Richard T. Baker, Keith M. Baker and wife Jeanette, and Nolan Baker, all of Kensett, Ark., and Paul Brown and wife Marlena of Omaha, Neb.; and a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ethel Timmons
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Timmons, 96, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. B.J. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Ms. Timmons, a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, May 26, in Minden. She was born Sept. 10, 1905 in Dubberly.
She was preceded in death by her son, Reo Jones.
She is survived by her sister, Ruby Mae Hunt; brothers, Johnny Wright and Joe Timmons; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; loving and caring friends, Virginia Jefferson , LaRhonda Jefferson , and Leslie Jefferson ; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Clara Towers
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Towers, 97, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Towers Passed away Saturday, May 25, in Minden. She was born Feb. 19, 1905.
She is survived by three daughters, Roberteen Wallace of Dubberly, Louise Payton and Vera Coleman, both of Shreveport; one son, Charlie Cooper of Minden; one sister, Vinnie Mae Lennear Shine of Minden; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Venita McNeill
Graveside services for Mrs. Venita Eaves McNeill, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at New Velma Cemetery with the Rev. Albin Firestone officiating. Services were under the direction of Spivey's Reser Funeral Home in Healdton, Okla.
Mrs. McNeill, a native of Minden, Passed away Saturday, May 18, in Minden. She was born Sept. 10, 1927 in Hennepin, Okla., to Bud and Martha Seely Eaves. She graduated high school in Woodland, Okla. She married Herbert McNeill on May 26, 1946 in Gainesville, Texas . For the past 27 years, they lived in Minden. Her life revolved around her family and she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Loretta Witcher.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Sharon Staggs and husband Mike, Tammie McNeill and Quannah Moore, all of Minden; three sons and their wives, Larry McNeill and wife Donna of Maysville, Okla., Phil McNeill and wife Barbara of Velma, and Randy McNeill and wife Rita of Minden; three brothers, Lloyd Eaves and wife Patsy of Arnett, Okla., Rex Eaves and wife Carol of Graham, and Jimmy Glen Eaves and wife Annette of Minden; sister, Mary Lou Gunter and husband Dan of Norman; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
