Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Mae Oliver, 67, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, May 23, at Mt. Calm Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. T.A. Knapp officiating. Burial was to follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Oliver, a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, May 16, at Minden Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Oliver Sr. of Minden; son, Terry Oliver Jr. of Minden; daughters, Kimela B. White and husband Floyd of College Station, Texas , Karen Thornton and husband Chris of Minden, Kava Siah and husband Dewey of Doyline; brothers Isiah Joe Mitchell of Downey, Calif., Willie Jerome Lee of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Barbara Ann Oliver and Mary Ann Hill, both of Minden, Cynthia Clay of Houston, Texas ; grandchildren, Cameron White of College Station, Jackie Key Jr. of Minden, Ashley Oliver, Nelson, Jack and Precious Siah, all of Doyline; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rosetta Joiner
Funeral services for Rosetta Joiner, 36, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Carter Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Theus Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Joiner Passed away Monday, May 20, and was born March 15, 1966.
She is survived by her parents, David and Susie Holifield of Heflin; three sons, Michael Jones, Howard Robinson, and Jonathan Joiner, all of Heflin; one daughter, Shequita Joiner of Waldo, Ark.; brother, Jerry G. Joiner of Waldo; four sisters, Mary Nelson of Chicago, Ill., Angela Joiner and Letina Joiner, both of Minden, and Loretta Joiner of Waldo; grandmother, Catherine Jackson of Heflin; grandson, Ja-Zansha Joiner; great-aunt, Dolly Moore of Ringgold and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. E.L. Elison will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held until evening, today, May 22, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oliver, a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, May 16, at Minden Medical Center.

Ivy Harber
Funeral services for Mrs. Ivy Dee Harber, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Piney Cemetery in Harleton, Texas , with the Rev. Richard Ridgeway officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 21, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harber, a native of Shelbyville, Texas , and a resident of Dubberly, Passed away Sunday, May 19, in Shreveport. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Harber Sr. and granddaughter, Darla Simmons.
She is survived by her sons, Clyde Harber Jr. and wife Zelda of Minden; Kenneth L. Harber and wife Sherry of Stonewall, and Frank Harber of Dubberly; daughters, Ivy D. Ridgeway of Harleton, Billie S. Harber of Shreveport, Betty A. Baccus of Princeton, Texas , Ruby Tebbetts and husband John of Bossier City, Edith Goneau and husband Roger of Shreveport, and Florence Durrett and husband Bill of Shongaloo; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Ridgeway, Steve Harber, Jon Simmons, Mike Harber, Jeff Hall, James Waters, Bruce Wood, and Dennis Thompson.
Laborn Johnson
Memorial services for Mr. Laborn Johnson , 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Gilgal Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson , a native of Maryanna, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, May 18, in Minden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Johnson .
He is survived by his two sons, Cam Johnson and wife, Debe of Leadville, Colo., and Dan Johnson and wife Pam of Aurora, Colo.; sisters, Cammie Ann, Roberta, and Rosemarie; brothers, Jack Johnson , Virgil Johnson , Delbert Johnson , J.C. Johnson , Walter Henry Johnson , John Henry Johnson , Roger Dale Johnson , and Kim Junior Johnson ; and grandchildren, Harley, Chad, and Carrie Johnson .

Lee Moore
Funeral services for Mr. Lee Odis Moore will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the funeral home.

Michael Lee
Funeral services for Mr. Michael Dale Lee, 54, were to be held 10 a.m. today, May 20, 2002, at Our Lady of Mercy with Father Counts officiating. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Whitehall Cemetery in Haynesville under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.
Mr. Lee, a resident of Baton Rouge, Passed away Friday, May 17, in Baton Rouge, after suffering a heart attack in his sleep. He was a staff attorney at the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals and a veteran of the U.S. Army with a Bronze Star, serving in Vietnam. He served in the Army from 1969 until 1971. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Tulane University and his law degree from Southern Law School. He was in private law practice until his move this year to the Court of Appeals. He began his legal career as law clerk to 19th Judicial District Court, Judge Robert D. Downey. He graduated high school from Fortier High in New Orleans. He was divorced from Mary Anne Reopelle.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Strouth Lee; daughter, Evelyn Denise Lee; her mother, Stacey Cox; sister, Susan Lee Dawson; brothers, Conrad Patrick Lee, Stephen James Lee, and brother-in-law, Robert Kent Dawson.
Pallbearers were to be Bob Downey, Fred Blanch, and Eddie Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were to be Harmon Drew, Joe Marlon Lee, Robert Earl Lee, Marvin Lee and Jerry Lee.

James Burge
Funeral services for Mr. James Robert Burge will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Rusty Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline.
Mr. Burge, a resident of Doyline, Passed away Thursday, May 16, in Doyline, near his home. He was a retired building contractor and a Polled Hereford Rancher. He was active in the Webster Parish Cattlemen's Association, on the board of directors of the Webster Parish Farm Bureau, county-committee man of the Webster Parish Farm Service Agency, and on the board of directors of Louisiana Polled Hereford Association. He served three years in the armed forces, 17 months of which were in Korea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise Burge.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nellie Sapp Burge of Doyline; two sons, Mark and Mike, both of Doyline; four grandchildren; four sisters, Ferne White of Sibley, Bobbie Weaver of Benton, Eloise Whitlock and Linda Montgomery, both of Doyline; one brother, Leon Burge of Doyline.
Pallbearers will be Larry White , Eddie Reeve, Steven Reeve, Robbie Burge, Jerry Allen, Craig Burge, Thomas Burge and Mitch Burge. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Montgomery, Keith Whitlock, Dale Weaver, Cecil Burge and Jim G. Burge.

Paul Kirkland
Funeral services for Mr. Paul Dean Kirkland, 75, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, May 17, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Dr. Ronald Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Kirkland, a native of Liberty, Miss., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, May 15, in Minden. He was a construction superintendent for McInnis Brothers and was a member of the Carpenters Local for 50 years.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Margie W. Haygood of Crosby, Miss.; step-mother, Irma Heard of Minden; sons, Leslie Kirkland of Minden, William D. Kirkland of Minden, David G. Kirkland of Longview, Texas , and Roger Kirkland of Blanchard; sister, Carrie Martin of Houston, Texas , half-sister, Alta Roberts of Minden; brothers, Carl Kirkland of Bastrop, Derald Kirkland of Minden, Gerald Kirkland of Minden, half-brothers, Perry Kirkland of Cotton Valley, John Kirkland of Bossier City, and Michael Kirkland of Minden; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian Kirkland, Daniel Kirkland, Bobby Allen Kirkland, Matt Roberts, Carl Teer, and John Stoute. Honorary pallbearers will be M.J. Lee, Nolen G. Brown, Mike Leppart, and Jimmy Smith.

Gladys Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Brown will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, at Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. T.A. Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, George Brown and two sons.
She is survived by three daughters; six sons; one brother; seven sisters; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Clara Dillard
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Dillard will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Ivory Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dillard Passed away Thursday, May 9. She was born Jan. 26, 1930.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Odom of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Georgetta Marie Odom of Houston, Texas , and Debra Odom of Los Angeles; two brothers, Leroy Dillard of North Hollywood, Calif., and the Rev. Ivory Cook of Houston; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; the Warren, Thornton, and Miller families; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary Garabo
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary V. Garabo, 76, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont, N.Y. Burial will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery in New Rochelle, N.Y., under the direction of John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont.
Visitation will be held today, May 15, and Thursday, May 16, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garabo Passed away Monday, May 13, at her residence. She was born in Minden.
She is survived by her son, Franklin T. of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Julia M. Garabo of Orlando; grandchildren, Drew and Judith Garabo of Orlando.

Dorothy Mudgett
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Lee Griffith Mudgett, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 15, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, with the Rev. Ryan Horton of First United Methodist Church of Minden officiating.
Mrs. Mudgett, a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, May 13, in Minden after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 7, 1919 in Quinlan, Okla., to Mattie and James Griffith. Raised in Little Rock, Ark., she moved to Minden in 1952, where she was a bookkeeper for Boyle Drug, Holley Appliance and Wren Mercantile. After moving to Shreveport in 1966, she worked for Heard, McElroy and Vestal and Trans Mark Travel.
She was a charter member of the Executive Women's International of Shreveport and was active in the Broadmoor United Methodist Church of Shreveport, including the Love Circle. She was an avid reader, looked forward to her weekly card games with friends, and enjoyed working in her yard.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Elzen and husband Fred Jr.; granddaughter, Courtney Moro and husband Jeremy, Whitney Lee Elzen; great-granddaughter, Savanna Jaye Moro.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Addison, Mickey Boyle, Jack Howard, Jeff Howell, Jeremy Moro, and Joe Rider.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport, First United Methodist Church in Minden; or HMC Hospice Care of Shreveport.

Annie Walton
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie D. Walton will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church in Minden.
Burial will follow at Mt. Calm Baptist Church Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the funeral home and the remains will lie in state at 1 p.m. prior to services.

David Hampton
Funeral services for Deacon David Hampton, 91, were to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Athens Road with the Rev. Earnest George officiating. Burial was to follow at Old Athens Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Hampton, a native of Homer, Passed away Friday, July 26, in Shreveport. He was born on Thursday, Sept. 20, 1910 to the late Fed and Ellen Washington Hampton and was educated in Claiborne Parish schools. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
After serving in World War II, he moved to Minden, where he resided until November 1992, then moved to New Orleans.
He was married to the late Lula Mae “Doll” Sears Brewer.
Until his health began to fail, he worked diligently on the deacon board and usher board of his church and was also active in Minden Temple Lodge #109.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother; and four sisters.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Clark and husband Charles; one son, David Hampton Jr. and wife Jewell; one step-son, Claude Brewer and wife Autherine; one sister-in-law, Mattie Major; one niece, Ethel Miller; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Willie Wheaton
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Wheaton, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton McDonald, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Wheaton Cemetery under the direction Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home and from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Wheaton, a native of Homer, Passed away Sunday, July 28. He was born June 2, 1913 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Wheaton of Maplewood, Minn., and Missouria Wheaton of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Rosie Wheaton Webb of Homer, Lillie Wheaton Warren of Denver, Colo., and Allie Ruth Wheaton Brown of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
