Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Owen Markham were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at Eden Methodist Church in New York. Burial followed at Eden Methodist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Laing Funeral Home in Eden.
Mrs. Markham, a longtime Minden resident, Passed away Tuesday, July 23, at her residence in Eden, N.Y. She lived and worked in Minden for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Mildred Owen.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Markham and David Owen and wife Christi; stepmother, Verna Owen; brothers, David and wife Aline, Clifford Owen and wife Judy; sister, Mary Cleary and husband Michael; grandchildren, Jared Markham, Hayley Owen, Brittany Owen and Cameron Owen.

Henry Hampton
Funeral services for Mr. Henry Thomas Hampton, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill with the Rev. David Easton and the Rev. J. B. Yelverton officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Cemetery.
Mr. Hampton, a resident of Sarepta, the Porterville Community, for 50 years, Passed away Saturday, July 27, at his residence after a long illness. He was a member of Porterville Church of God, a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired electrician with International Paper Company with 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Sims Hampton on Sept. 25, 2000.
He is survived by his daughters, Nona Vowell and husband Doyle of Sarepta, Dianne Ketchum and husband Larry of Texarkana, Texas ; sons, Tommy Hampton and wife Sue of Shreveport, Kenny Hampton and wife Sandi of Bossier City; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ronnie Vowell, Kelby Bagwell, T.J. Hampton, Ty Hampton, Tim Ketchum and Kevin Butts.

William Baker
Funeral services for Mr. William Joseph "Billy Joe" Baker, 24, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Kenny Joyner and the Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Cotton Valley.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 9 p.m. today, July 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Baker, a lifelong resident of Cotton Valley, Passed away Wednesday, July 24, in Shreveport, after a sudden illness. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley and worked for Red Ball Oxygen Co.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harry H. Baker, June 28, 2001.
He is survived by his father, Phil Baker and wife Ludie of Cotton Valley; mother, Diane Sinclair Tynes and husband Tim of Cotton Valley; paternal grandmother, Lillie Sullivan Baker of Cotton Valley; maternal grandparents, Carl Sinclair of Cotton Valley and Nancy Sinclair of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Amy Simonton and husband John of Minden; brother, Matt Baker and wife Christy of Plain Dealing; step-sister, Tiffany Tynes of Colorado; fiance', Tammy Matlock of Bossier City; two nieces, Bailey and Gracie Claire; two nephews, Clay and Dawson; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Coty Robinson, Micah Hanson, Johnny Reed Jenkins, Glynn Gaddy, Brad Hanson, Timothy Farrington, Chris Grisham, Jason McGinty, Leslie Putnam and Chad Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Beck, Michael Lambright, Gaylon Brown, Trent Maxwell, Brian Bonner, Daniel Beckman, Tony Matlock, and Larry Ruff.

Jacqueline Anderson
Funeral services for Ms. Jacqueline Marie Anderson, 35, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, July 26, 2002, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial was to follow at Cotton Valley Community Cemetery.
Ms. Anderson is survived by her daughters, Kyatona M. Anderson of Minden, Chere' Renee Anderson of Daleville, Ala., and Connie Lee Grigsby of Cotton Valley; mother, Terri Catherine Burton of Minden and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace.

Jakie Boyce
Graveside services for Mr. Jakie "Jake" Warren Boyce, 58, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, July 24, 2002, at Fuller Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Boyce, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, July 22, in Minden. He was employed by Sanitary Dairy for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Edgar Boyce.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda S. Boyce; son, Jacob W. Boyce and wife Kristi of Minden; mother, Malissie H. Boyce of Minden; sister, Dottie Gordon and husband Junior of Sibley; brothers, Don Boyce and wife Debbie, Roy Boyce and Buster Boyce, all of Minden; special brother, Jackie Boyce and wife Dorothy of Minden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers were to be Jay Boyce, David Gordon, Wesley Loden, Bradley Plunkett, Josh Boyce, Kem Butler, Joe Warquez, and Mike Klebba.

Galin Shaw
Memorial services for Mr. Galin Lee Shaw, 68, were to be held at 10:30 a.m. today, July 23, 2002, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubberly.
Mr. Shaw, a resident of Dubberly, Passed away Saturday, July 20, at Minden Medical Center following a long illness. He was born Jan. 30, 1934.
He is survived by his wife, Faye E. Shaw; daughter, Judith Lynn Salter and husband Randy; sons, Thomas Edward "Eddie" Shaw, and Dale Wade Shaw and wife Susan; grandchildren, Rachel Shaw Willis and husband Shawn of Heflin, Jackie Faye Shaw of Dubberly, David Lee Shaw of Heflin, Chelsea Claire Shaw of Dubberly, Halea Hollis Shaw of Dubberly; stepgrandson, Zack Willis; one great-granddaughter, Kelly Dawn Willis; and special sons, Charles Tucker, Kevin Cottle and Keith Smart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church.

Dee-Wayne Padgett
Funeral services for Mr. Dee-Wayne Alvin Padgett, 5, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2002, at New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Dodds and the Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Burial will follow at Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.
Dee-Wayne was born in Minden and was a former resident of Sarepta. He Passed away Thursday, July 18, in Cullen, along with his mother, Jeannie "Beckie" Booth Padgett, as the result of an automobile accident.
He is survived by his father, Chris Padgett of McNeil, Ark.; half-sisters, Kristina Leighann Padgett and Heather Irene Padgett, all of Montgomery; aunts, Julie Hand and husband Wayne of McLeod, Texas , Melissa Michelle Wood and husband Russell; uncle, Regainard Madison Booth and wife Erica, all of McNeil; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Elkins Booth of McNeil; maternal great-grandfather, Thomas Alvin Elkins of Sarepta; paternal grandmother, Patricia M. Bruce of Pineville; paternal grandfather, Larry L. Padgett of McLeod; paternal great-grandfather, Harold Padgett of Palm Bay, Fla.; cousins, Kurtis Hand, Ashley Hand, Trey Jones, Haley Jones and Macie Jones.
Pallbearers will be Spencer and Michael Pipes, Daniel and Nicholas Garza, Shannon and Brandon Elkins, Richard Downs and Thomas Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be E.L. Edwards and Terry Poston.

Jeannie Padgett
Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannie "Beckie" Booth Padgett, 28, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2002, at New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Dodds and the Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Burial will follow at Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.
Mrs. Padgett, a native of Bossier City and a resident of McNeil, Ark., Passed away Thursday, July 18, in Cullen along with her five-year-old son, Dee-Wayne Alvin Padgett, after an automobile accident. She was a former resident of Sarepta and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Magnolia, Ark. She was a self-employed marketing executive for the Melaleuca Company and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Alpha Mae Love Elkins; her maternal great-grandparents, Lula and Neal Love and Vera and Thomas Pierce Elkins.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Padgett of McNeil; stepdaughters, Kristina Leighann Padgett and Heather Irene Padgett, all of Montgomery; sister, Melissa Michelle Wood and husband Russell; brother, Regainard Madison Booth and wife Erica of McNeil; stepsister, Wendy Harvill of Springhill; mother, Sandra Elkins Booth of McNeil; maternal grandfather, Thomas Alvin Elkins of Sarepta; aunts and uncles, Kathy Ketchens, Charlotte Garza and husband Danny, all of Sarepta, Charles Wayne Elkins of Shreveport, Mary Ruth Booth, Luther Booth, Bopie Booth and his wife Nadine, all of Magnolia, Ark.

Ione Cooper
Funeral services for Mrs. Ione Chauvin Cooper, 85, were to be held at 11 a.m., today, July 22, 2002, at Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill with the Rev. Karl J. Daigle and Philip Pazhayakari officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper, a resident of Springhill, Passed away at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at The Glen in Shreveport, following a short illness. A resident of Springhill since 1953, she shared her love of life through the beauty of music and song with her family and the community. She taught in area schools and was very active with the Sacred Heart Church choir and activities within the Communities of the Holy Spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis O. Cooper; and son, Michael Louis Cooper.
She is survived by her son, Ellis O. Cooper Jr.; daughter, Nancy Cooper Oliver and husband Saul; son, Patrick Brooks Cooper and wife Susan; son, Steve Cooper and wife Debbie; son, Donald Paul Cooper and wife Anita; daughter, Crin Del Henry and husband Dan; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Alma Richard; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friend, Vera Grider.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Sterling, Clyde Green, Anthony Manual, Leonard Blanton, Skip Grillot, Terry Roath, and Larry Berrier as honorary pallbearer.

Kathleen McIntyre
Graveside services for Kathleen Pullig McIntyre, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Minden Cemetery, with Minister Charles Pate officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, July 19, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. McIntyre, a native of Winn Parish and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 17, in Minden. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady L. McIntyre; father, Dug Pullig and mother, Lizzie Pullig.
She is survived by her son, Doug Burt and wife Dot of Greensboro, Ga.; daughter, Julia Mahoney Hobby and husband Truitt of Cleveland, Miss.; grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Henderson and husband Tripp, Cliff Hobby, Deborah Watkins and husband Loye and Gid Burt; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Pullig DeLoach and husband Jessie; and several nieces and nephews.

Willie Robinson
Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Allie Ward Robinson, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at St. James Baptist Church with Dr. T.L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, July 19, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Robinson, a native of Doyline and a resident of Minden, Passed away at 2:09 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Minden Medical Center. She was born Sept. 23, 1909 to the late Louis and Ola Moore Ward. She was the third of 12 children. She was united in marriage to the late Rev. Joseph R. Robinson on Nov. 18, 1924, and was a loving, devoted and caring mother to her 10 children.
She was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church in Doyline, where she worked diligently and tirelessly as a missionary and Bible leader. She received God at an early age and professed Him as her personal Savior in 1921, under the leadership of E.I. Beary. She was a devout Christian and counselor. Her Christian life reflected in her smiles and in her forthright approach to those around her. Her belief was that God is the answer to every situation for those who believe.
Mrs. Robinson leaves behind a legacy wrought by love, honesty, Christian compassion and devotion. She will be remembered as an ambassador and mentor.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; parents; daughter Josephine; and son Willie James.
She is survived by seven daughters, Melvin Teresa Parker, Jeweline Smith, Ethel Lavergne, Gertrude Snowden, all of Detroit, Mich., Mable Martin of Minden, Lue Jean Washington of Alexandria, and Mollie Rice of Shreveport; one son Charlie Leon Robinson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 32 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 52 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Johnny Scott
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Bernard Scott, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Memorial Funeral Home in Cullen with the Rev. Roger Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Benton under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held until evening today, July 19, at Miller-Pioneer funeral home.
Mr. Scott, a resident of Cullen, Passed away Tuesday, July 16, in Shreveport.
He is survived by his sons, Johnny Smith and wife Doretha of Cotton Valley, Johnny Ray Neal of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Betty DeBose and husband Johnny Wayne of Plain Dealing; sister, Lula B. Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas ; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Edgar Shockley
Memorial services for Mr. Edgar Shockley will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at First Assembly of God Church in Minden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Shockley; three daughters, Carolyn Craig of Bloomington, Ind., Brenda Gray of Frankfort, Ind., Helen Johnson of Minden; one sister, Lavon Oliver of Minden; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dora Thompson
Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Forrest Thompson, 96, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with the Rev. James Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson, a native of Minden and a longtime resident of Los Angeles, Calif., Passed away Monday, July 15, in Shreveport. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Thirteen years ago, she left her beloved Los Angeles to come back to live with her daughter in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Moses Forrest Sr. and Elizabeth Forrest Bailey; husband Theo Thompson; brothers, Ardis Forrest, Earnest Forrest, and Moses Forrest Jr.; sisters, Berta Forrest; son-in-law, W. Leon Hayes Sr.; and grandson, Wilber Leon Hayes Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite H. Williams and husband Oscar C. of Minden; son, Oren T. Qualls of Los Angeles; sister, Katie F. August of Minden; brother, Rudolph Forrest of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Yvette Hayes, Oren Qualls of Los Angeles, Aaron Qualls of Tacoma, Wash., Marcus Williams of Fairbanks, Alaska, Linda W. Durril of Ft. Wayne Ind.; great-grandson, Forrest H. Ashley; and many other relatives and friends.

Anna Landers
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna (Ann) Louise Dewey Landers will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Eldon Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, July 18, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Landers, a native of Avant, Okla., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, July 15, at home following a lengthy battle with heart and lung disease. She was born Oct. 17, 1924 and she spent her earlier years with her parents, Edna and Simeon Dewey and her siblings in Stinnett, Texas . In September 1945, she married David C. Landers and moved to Minden, where they lived for more than 40 years.
She worked at Minden Medical Center for several years before going to work as an inspector at LAAP. She retired in 1984 and was also an active member of the Eastern Star and Beauceants for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her oldest sister, Juanita Thurman. She is survived by three daughters, Valorie Boyles of Shreveport, Donna Landers of Dayton, Texas , and Bonnie Flurry and husband Charles of Magnolia, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Keel and husband Sam of Amarillo, Texas , Lucille Cox of Kemah, Texas ; brother, Don Dewey and wife Laura of Whittier, Calif.; and two nieces that were reared with them, Kathleen Olsen and Barbara Dewey; five grandchildren, Wendy Bode, Stephanie King, John David King, Wes Holley, and Chuck Flurry; five great-grandchildren, Nikki Parker, Cameron King, Brittany Bode, Chandler Matteson, and Angelica Holley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shriners Hospital.
