Graveside services for Kathleen Pullig McIntyre, 87, will be held at Minden Cemetery, time pending, with the Rev. Charles Pate officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. McIntyre, a native of Winn Parish and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 17, in Minden. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady L. McIntyre; father, Dug Pullig and mother, Lizzie Pullig.
She is survived by her son, Doug Burt and wife Dot Burt of Greensboro, Ga.; daughter, Julia Mahoney Habby and husband Truitt; grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Henderson and husband Tripp, Cliff Hobbit, Deborah Watkins and husband Loye and Burt; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Pullig DeLoach and husband Jessie and several nieces and nephews.

Damien Frazier
Graveside services for infant Damien Lamar Frazier will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden. Services are under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Anna Landers
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna (Ann) Louise Dewey Landers will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Eldon Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Landers, a native of Avant, Okla., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, July 15, at home following a lengthy battle with heart and lung disease. She was born Oct. 17, 1924 and she spent her earlier years with her parents, Edna and Simeon Dewey and her siblings in Stinnett, Texas . In September 1945, she married David C. Landers and moved to Minden, where they lived for more than 40 years.
She worked at Minden Medical Center for several years before going to work as an inspector at LAAP. She retired in 1984 and was also an active member of the Eastern Star and Beauceants for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her oldest sister, Juanita Thurman. She is survived by three daughters, Valorie Boyles of Shreveport, Donna Landers of Dayton, Texas , and Bonnie Flurry and husband Charles of Magnolia, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Keel and husband Sam of Amarillo, Texas , Lucille Cox of Kemah, Texas ; brother, Don Dewey and wife Laura of Whittier, Calif.; and two nieces that were reared with them, Kathleen Olsen and Barbara Dewey; five grandchildren, Wendy Bode, Stephanie King, John David King, Wes Holley, and Chuck Flurry; five great-grandchildren, Nikki Parker, Cameron King, Brittany Bode, Chandler Matteson, and Angelica Holley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shriners Hospital.

Geraldine Mims
Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Beatrice Aker Mims will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church.
She was born to the late Lawrence E. Aker Sr. and the late Beatrice Aker Armstrong on June 13, 1922 in Downsville.
As a young child, she accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord and was baptized at Lewis Temple C.M.E. Church in Grambling. As an adult, she moved to Minden and became a faithful member of Mt. Zion. She was married to the late O.D. Mims on Oct. 1, 1946 in Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Mims was educated in Grambling public schools and was a member of the charter graduating class of Grambling State University. She earned a master's degree at Texas Southern University. She served as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Webster Parish school system until her retirement in 1968.
She was a member of the Minden Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda; granddaughter, Malika Ordean "Mikki"; sisters, Margaret Rentz and husband the Rev. Simpson E., Dorothy Williams and husband Foster, and Ruby Flournoy; one brother, the Rev. Lawrence Aker Jr., and wife Dorothy; a special nephew who was like a son, Samuel E. Mims and wife Glenda and many nephews, nieces and godchildren.

Donald Griffith
Funeral services for Mr. Donald O. Griffith, 77, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, July 15, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Doyline with Dr. Richard May and the Rev. Steve Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Griffith, a native of Fryeburg and a resident of Doyline, Passed away Saturday, July 13, at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, 32nd Mason and he enjoyed his family and friends. He was a market manager, meat cutter and cook. He was retired from G.E. Commercial Transformer Co.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lora Murphy; brothers, Henry and Wayne Griffith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Martin Griffith; son, Michael Griffith and wife, Cynthia of Doyline; daughters, Donna Towns of Mt. Lebanon, Beverly Kea and husband Roy of Sibley; brother, Harry Griffith and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Todd Cummings and wife Lori, Jeff Cummings, Douglas Fuller and wife Rita, Craig Kea, Brian Griffith and wife Laurie, and Jennifer Griffith; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Fuller and Chelsea and Zachary Cummings.
Pallbearers were to be his grandchildren.

Jessie Harris
Funeral services for Mr. Jessie James Harris, 95, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. S. Wade Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, July 12, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Harris, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 10, in Minden. He was born Aug. 7, 1906 in Heflin. He was the oldest of eight children. He was united in marriage to Mary Esther Thomas on Nov. 24, 1945. To this union two children were born. He was known for his love for landscaping and gardening. He was very friendly to all he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Henry Harris and Elnora Davis Harris; and all his siblings.
He is survived by his son, Corinthian Harris and wife Sheila of Houston, Texas ; daughter, Elnora Harris of Minden; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Fannie Parker
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Jackson Parker, 101, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. B.F. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today, July 12, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Parker, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 10, at I.H.S. of Minden.
She is survived by her daughters, Azzie Parker Blow of Arcadia; Gladys McGee of Minden; Dr. Jewel Jackson of Grambling; son, William B. Jackson of Minden; one sister, Viola Bates of Kansas City, Mo.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sam Jones
Funeral services for Mr. Sam K. Jones, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. S. Wade Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden and Woodforest Funeral Home in Houston, Texas .
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services, Saturday, at the church.
Mr. Jones, a native of Heflin, Passed away Monday, July 8, in Houston, Texas . He was born June 15, 1922.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jones and Mandy Brown Jones.
He is survived by his sister, Henrietta Bailey of Houston; sons, Calvin Joe Jones, Johnny W. Jones, Calvin Wayne Theus; daughters, Thelma McIntosh, Pamela Miller, Brenda Bridges, Alma Cornish; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

JW Clark
Memorial services for Mr. JW Clark, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Dr. Ronald Prince officiating.
Mr. Clark, a native of DeRidder, Passed away Tuesday, July 9. He spent his early life working a ranch with his family. He joined the Navy during World War II and became a naval aviator in 1943. He was an officer and a pilot for Patrol Bombing Squadron 117, "The Blue Raiders." His squadron became the most highly successful bombing squadron in Naval history, leading Mr. Clark to be decorated multiple times with honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
After the war, he lived for a time in Warren, Ark., where he was a leader in the community. He had lived in Minden since 1956, where he was active with the Lions Club, American Legion, and various other organizations and was a faithful servant of the Lord at First Baptist Church. Most of his career was managing retail business for West & Co. and Clark Investments, but his true passions were working with his land and tree farming. No member of his family ever went without if he could help it and his generosity extended far beyond his blood relatives.
Mr. Clark leaves behind a legacy wrought by honor, honestly and Christian compassion and will be remembered as a father, mentor, and hero to both his country and those close to him. "Big Daddy" held God, family and honor above all else. He will be forever remembered.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy; mother, Mary; brother, Cubert; sister, Velma Gallion; and his wife of 58 years, Geneva Clark.
He is survived by two sons, James and wife Gloria of Talequah, Okla., and Robert and wife Monica of Minden; grandchildren, Lacy, Alicia, Chris and wife Tara, and Keali Waldron and husband John, Tammy Wingfield and Tiffany Wall; great-grandchildren, Tristin and Ty Waldron; Caitlyn Clark, Austin, and Kaley; sister, Elva Knight; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of family friends whose lives he touched.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Donald Beam, Eric Beck, O.D. Cox, Bryan Coyle, Wayne Crawford, and Tim Sammuels. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Walker, Jeff Davis, Jimmy Marquis, and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Minden.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Minden Building Fund.

Frances Qualls
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Qualls will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Taylor .
The body will lie in state Friday, July 12. There will be no family hour.

Zelma Walker
Funeral services for Mrs. Zelma S. Walker, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Antioch Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating and the Rev. Wayne Reeves assisting. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today, July 11, at the funeral home.
"Miss Zell" was born in the Blackburn community near Homer on Nov. 20, 1910, lived near Doyline until 1941, and in the Dixie Inn/McIntyre community ever since. She was a homemaker, worked at the ordinance plant, clerked in retail stores in Shreveport and Minden, and was a distributor for home care products in the Minden area for years. She was a charter member of the Dixie Inn Lions club, and may have been the longest serving Sunday School teacher at Antioch, where she touched many young lives, and was a lasting inspiration to everyone with whom she came in contact.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 71 years, Harvey A. "Fat' Walker; parents Joe and Fannie Smith; sister, Thalia Walker; brothers, Lanny and Orvie Smith; infant granddaughter, Janice Kay Walker; and grandson, Robert Dean Walker.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Paul Dudley and Betty Walker of Shreveport, Norman and Pat Walker of Lindale, Texas , and Doyle and Ila Walker of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Adam Gill, Kevin and Brian Walker, and Kyle Richards; and members of her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church.

Leslie Avant III
Memorial services for Mr. Leslie "Buster" Leon Avant III will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Kenneth DeHart officiating.
Mr. Avant Passed away Sunday, July 7, after a courageous battle with an inoperable brain stem tumor. He was born Oct. 30, 1950, and was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina Avant of Austin, Texas ; one son, Leslie Avant IV of Mexia, Texas ; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie L. Avant Jr. of Cotton Valley; sister, Beverly Lopez of Shreveport and his niece Sara and husband Lee Williams of Dallas, Texas ; special cousin, Mike Madary and wife Diane of Sulphur Springs, Texas ; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Larry Rice
Funeral services for Mr. Larry Wayne Rice, 47, of Minden, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2002, at House of Prayer in Minden with the Rev. Jeanette Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Newsome Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Homer.
The body will lie in state at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden, on Friday, July 12, 2002.
He is survived by three brothers, Marvin Rice, Freddie Rice Jr. and Clinton Woodfork; like sisters, Gloria Jean Mixon and Patricia Wesley Bell; aunt, Mary "Jeanie" Edwards; uncle, Nathaniel "Nate" Woodfork; great aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ivery Joe Qualls, Henry Jordan, Charlie James Rice, Kenneth Wayne Elkins and Ferral G. Banks.

Trevor Ray Jernigan Jr.
Graveside services for Mr. Trevor Ray Jernigan Jr., 32, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, July 9, 2002, at Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Pate officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Jernigan, a native of Shreveport and a resident of New Orleans, Passed away Friday, July 5, in New Orleans. He was a waiter and a DJ. He was preceded in death by his grandfather L.E. Jernigan.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Taylor Robinson of Fort Myers, Fla.; father, Trevor Ray Jernigan Sr. of Minden; paternal grandmother, Syble McBride Jernigan of Minden, Eddie Mae Taylor of Ft. Myers, Charles C. Taylor of Maryland; brother, Matthew Bert Robinson of Shreveport; aunts and uncles, Linda and Scott Barnes of Ft. Myers, Sherry and Terry Myers of Ft. Myers, Janet and Gerald of Baton Rouge, Ronnie and Cathy Jernigan, and Larry and Marilyn Jernigan, all of Minden; special friend, Amber Viglione of Ft. Myers; and a host of other relatives.
