J.P. Allen
Funeral services for Dr. J.P. Allen, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Broadway Baptist Church in Shreveport. A private burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of Thompson's Harvenson & Cole Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, July 9, at the funeral home.
Dr. Allen, a native of Birmingham, Ala., Passed away Sunday, July 7, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 22, 1912. He was a graduate of Louisiana College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and in 1940, he received his doctorate. He served as pastor of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas , from 1963-1970, during which he established the ministry now known as The Baptist Center, and taught an adult Sunday School Class, which was named the Allen Bible Class in March 1992. Following his retirement, he served as vice president and director of the Division of Audience Research and Response of the Southern Baptist Radio and Television Commission from 1970-1979, after which he served as professor of preaching from 1979-1987 at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Killen Allen; daughter, Trish Allen Asmus and husband Stewart of Coral Springs, Fla.; granddaughter, Stacy Donner and husband Matt of Plantation, Fla.; and their son, Grayden Allen Donner, Shannon Atkins and husband Ben of London, England; stepson, Robert K. Douglas of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Melanie Brooks and husband Bart of Fort Worth and their children, Cody and Summer; brother, Eugene Allen of Minden; nephews and nieces, including Mary Margaret Clay of Fort Worth.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at Broadway Baptist Church.

Trevor Jernigan Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Trevor Ray Jernigan Jr., 32, are still pending. Officiating will be Charles Pate. Burial will follow services at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, July 8, at the funeral home.
Mr. Jernigan, a native of Shreveport and a resident of New Orleans, Passed away Friday, June 5, in New Orleans. He was a waiter and a DJ.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, L.E. Jernigan.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Robinson of Ft. Myers, Fla.; father, Trevor Ray Jernigan Sr. of Minden; grandmother, Eddie Mae Taylor of Ft. Myers; Charles Taylor of Virginia; brother, Matthew Burt Robinson of Shreveport, Syble Jernigan of Minden; aunts and uncles, Linda and Scott Barnes of Ft. Myers; Sherry and Terry Myers of Ft. Myers; Janet Gerald of Baton Rouge; Ronnie and Cathy Jernigan, Larry and Marilyn Jernigan, all of Minden; and special friend Amber ViqLione of Ft. Myers.

Bunie Odom
Funeral services for Mrs. Bunie Vest Odom will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Joshua Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at noon prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Odom was born April 7, 1912, in Ringgold. She was baptized at an early age at St. Mary Baptist Church in Ringgold. She served there until she became ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Odom; parents, Jim and Emma Hall; and one daughter, Ruby Odom Matthews.
She is survived by four sons, Junior C. Odom, A.C. Odom, James Odom and Lee Roy Odom; one daughter, Rosie B. Sterling and husband Arthur of Minden; one sister, Vester Holmes and husband Adam of Shreveport; four grandchildren, Zora Odom of Minden, Tallulah Matthews of Irving, Texas , Terri Matthews of Shreveport and Lee Roy Odom Jr. of Minden; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Banks, Vernon Cooksey, Farron Elkins, Vincent Green, LaRuben Johnson , Ricky Martin, and Charles Shehee. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Connelly, Clyde Lewis, Bennie Matthews, Alex Odom, Lee Roy Odom Jr., and Arthur Sterling.

H.O. Pullig
Funeral services for Mr. H.O. "Grassy" Pullig, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with the Rev. Lysbeth Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Pullig, a former resident of Haynesville and a resident of Bossier City, Passed away Wednesday, July 3, at Grace Home in Shreveport. He was a retired pipeline superintendent with Placid Oil Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine O. Pullig of Bossier City; son, Harvis O. Pullig Jr. and wife Diane of Shreveport; brother, Willie E. Pullig of Bryceland; sister, Oveda Martin of Shreveport; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Kimberly Walker
Funeral services for Kimberly Suzanne Walker, 26, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2002, at First United Pentecostal Church in Minden with the Rev. T.W. Barnes, the Rev. Gerald Trammel, the Rev. Kenneth DeHart, the Rev. Jonathan Foster and Debbie Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, July 4, at the funeral home.
Miss Walker, a native of Shreveport, Passed away Tuesday, July 2, in Monroe, after a sudden illness. She was born April 7, 1976 in Shreveport. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Minden and a graduate of Minden High School. She received her master's degree in speech communications from the University of Monroe and was employed at CenturyTel in Shreveport and Monroe. She was a special daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend. We thank God for the few short years she shared with us. God needed "our angel" in heaven July 2, and left us with beautiful and loving memories.
She is survived by her loving parents, Daryl and Deborah Canter Walker of Minden; brother, Barry Walker of Minden; maternal grandmother, Caudy Canter of Cotton Valley; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Walker of Springhill; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of special children that Kimberly dearly loved.
Pallbearers will be her cousins, Glenn Dickson, Tony Dickson, Elliott Dickson, Neven Hooter, Brandon Cox, Corey Canter, Anthony Blake, Kerry Dale McClary, Ryan Phillips and Russell Phillips.

Fred Ellington
Graveside services for Mr. Fred Edwin Ellington, 68, were held Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Ellington, a native and resident of Shreveport, Passed away Sunday, June 30, in Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad and Margie Ellington.
He is survived by his sister, Betty McGowan and husband Kenneth of Minden; aunt, Mrs. Clyde Ellington; nephews, Mickey McGowan, Rickey McGowan, Kenny McGowan and Jeff McGowan; and cousins, Clyde D. Ellington and Nancy Ellington.

Crotia Currie
Funeral services for Mrs. Crotia Elizabeth Harville Currie, 94, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, July 1, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Currie, a native of Danville and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, June 29, in Minden. She was a homemaker, mother and farmer's helper. She was born June 14, 1908, on Flag Day, to the late T.J. Harville and Beadie Alma Bartlett Harville. She was known as the "Flag Day Girl." She lived in Bienville Parish and in and around Arcadia. She graduated from Goldonna High School in 1927, where there were only 11 grades. She moved with her family to West Carroll Parish to the Old Campbell community after graduation. There, she married Buell Currie on June 29, 1930. She lived in Pioneer, from 1930 until 1970, on the farm. She moved to Minden to be near her brother, Claude and sister-in-law, LaFern Fallin Harville, now Holley. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and Sunday school class. She moved to Town and Country Nursing Home July 22, 1998, where she later passed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Feb. 1979; Claude Harville of Minden; Bonnie Harville of Lake Charles and sisters-in-law, LaFern and Frances.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Eleanor Currie Sawicki and husband John of San Diego, Calif., Joyce Marie Currie Little and husband John of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Paul Currie Sawicki of Anchorage, Alaska, James Michael Sawicki of San Diego, John Little Jr. of Houston, Texas , and Robert Currie Little of Baltimore; and one great-grandchild, Trevor Stanton Sawicki of Anchorage.

Eldred Elkins
Funeral services for Mr. Eldred Vernon Elkins, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 1, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Doyline with the Rev. Steven Kelly and the Rev. Larry Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Doyline Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Elkins, a native of Spearsville and a resident of Doyline for 60 years, Passed away Friday, June 28, at Christus Schumpert Hospital. He was retired from the Webster Parish School Board; a deacon of First Baptist Doyline; a master carpenter; and a Mason for more than 50 years. He was a kind and gentle man.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Elkins Woods ; two sisters, Mary L. Beene and Eloise Elkins.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn A. Elkins; children, John C. and Beth Elkins of Fredericksburg, Va., Regina and John Maxey of Keithville; brother, John H. Elkins and Virginia of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Mabel R. Moore and Murray of El Dorado, Ark.; grandchildren, Bart Elkins, Slade and Kate Elkins, Carolu Elkins, Jason Shaw, Heather Helsby, Amy and John Smith, John A. Woods , Elizabeth and James Woods , Kelley and Todd Cordray; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Children and Youth Department, P.O. Box 511, Doyline, LA 71023.

Wanda Lou Holmes
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Lou Holmes, 51, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Anthony Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m., today, June 28, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holmes, a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, June 22, at Minden Medical Center. She was employed with Trucker's Paradise in Minden.
She is survived by her brother, Julius Jackson Jr. of West Germany; sisters, Gloria Henderson of Houston, Texas , Barbara and husband Sammie Turner of Minden; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Jesse McGee
Funeral services for Mr. Jesse J. "Panky" McGee will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Southside Missionary Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the funeral home.
Mr. McGee Passed away Monday, June 24, at Willis Knighton Hospital in Shreveport. He was born Dec. 11, 1947. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angeline and J.C. McGee.
He is survived by his devoted friend, Linda Bonds; brothers, Johnny J. McGee, T.C. McGee and Charles McGee; children, D.J. McGee, Keshia Mullens, Kim Bonds, Stephanie Owens and Donald McGee; sisters, Bessie Bradley, Lula Norton and Rosie Cornelious; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Amy Haynes
Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Rintha Haynes, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Dodd officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, June 25, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Haynes, a resident of Sarepta, Passed away Monday, June 24, after a sudden illness. She was a lifelong resident of Sarepta and a member of New Sarepta Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Haynes; sisters, Terrell Martin, Effie Jones, Virgie Matlock, Mildred Cobb, Delores Wilson, Eula Martin; brothers, Guy Hilburn and Denzel Hilburn.
She is survived by her four sons, Andrew J. Haynes and wife Patricia of Springhill, Donald Wayne Haynes and wife Cathrine of San Antonio, Texas , William D. Haynes and wife Elizabeth of Springhill, Roger Allen Haynes and wife Barbara of Shongaloo; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Fitts and husband Darrell of Shreveport; two brothers, Ray Hilburn of Bossier City, Yancy Mac Hilburn of Corpus Christi, Texas ; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Orville Warren
Funeral services for Mr. Orville "Scooter" Warren, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Mt. Zion Church at Driskell Mountain with the Rev. E.D. Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Driskell Cemetery on Driskell Mountain under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Mr. Warren, a resident of Simsboro, Passed away Monday, June 24, at his residence. He was a retired miner.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Clay Warren; and brother, Darrel J. Warren.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Warren of Simsboro; mother, Marguerite Warren of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, Jimmy Clay Warren of Mustang, Okla.; daughters, Cheryl Cooley of Yukon, Okla., Oleta Kay Carter of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Jack Warren of Houma; sisters, Glynda Chism of Oklahoma City, Gaye Warren of Bay City, Texas ; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Allen, Michael Hicks, Brandon Allen, Carl Driskell, Walter Driskell, and Ron Cooley.
Memorials may be made to Driskell Cemetery Association.

Wanda Anderson Green
Funeral services for Wanda Anderson Green, 66 of Minden will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 22,2002 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer. Rev. Kenneth Nutt and Rev. William A. Massey will be officiating. interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Summerfield. Visitation will be held tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Green Passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2002 in Minden. She was a retired Cosmetology Instructor with Cloyds Beauty School in Monroe.
Mrs. Green is survived by: her husband of 49 years, Rev. Crawford A. Green of Minden, formerly of West Monroe; brother, Joe Anderson of Indianapolis, IN; nephew, Dr. Butch Cantwell of Monroe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Lois Hill of Castor, James and Faye Green of Minden, Bobby and Betty Green of Benton, Jerry and Virginia Tarpley of Minden and a number of other relatives and friends.
All expressions of sympathy are very much appreciated, including flowers and any memorial contributions made to the Hebron Cemetery Fund or the Baptist Children's Home.

TaiTeuna Jackson
Services for TaiTeuna Jackson , 13, will be held Saturday, June 22, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Jefferson .
"Tay Tay" went to be with The Lord Sunday, June 16, 2002 at 3:45 p.m. at LSU Medical Center. The 13-year-old "angel" ended a courageous seven-year battle with a childhood illness.
She was an eighth grade student at Doyline High School. "Tay Tay" dreamed of becoming an AKA Queen. In November 2000, her dream came true. She was crowned Junior Miss Fashionetta for the Minden chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Jackson and Mrs. Laura Jones.
Survivors include: her loving parents, Laura Ann Hardy of Doyline and Michael Allen of Shreveport; her maternal grandfather, Mr. Morris Jackson Sr. of Doyline; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Allen of Shreveport; brother, J.R. Hardy, sister, Mariah "Mimi" Jackson of Doyline; half-sisters, Lacole Gibson of Bossier City, Victoria and Slanai Gibson of Shreveport; half brother, Laterrance Johnson of Shreveport; hospital staff, Dr. Majed Jeroudi, Nurses Cheryl Fernandez and Linda Douglas; aunts and uncles, Lula (George) Fuller, Annie Ruth (James) Richardson, Walter (Clementine) Jackson , Noland Jackson , Wendell (Daphne) Jackson , all of Doyline, Morris (Bennie) Jackson Jr. of Bossier City, Charles (Debra) Jackson of Sibley and Louis Jackson of Shreveport; a special family friend, Kenny Lovelace of Shreveport and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the St. Jude Hospital staff, as well as the LSU Medical Center staff, Dr. Jeroudi and Nurses Fernandez and Douglas.
