Wayne Moreland
Funeral services for Lloyd W. Moreland, 74, of Homer, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday June 21, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Minden. Dr. James Simeon will officiate. interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home. Visitation will be held tonight from 5-9 p.m.
Mr. Moreland died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in Homer. He was a retired Electrician for the Mid Valley Pipeline Company.
Mr. Moreland is survived by: his wife Betty A. Moreland of Homer; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lloyd and Connie Moreland of Broken Arrow, OK; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nan and Doug Sanders of Broken Arrow, Lynn and Mike Blackwelder of Homer, Patti Collins of The Woodlands, Texas and Molly and Mike Clancy of Walnut Creek, CA; two sisters, Juanita McAdoo of Shreveport and Marlene Gill of Houston; three brothers, Ralph Moreland of Rogers, AR, Joe Moreland of Ruston and Edd Moreland of Union City, Texas ; nine grandchildren, John and Hannah Moreland, Laine and Laura Sanders, Amy Collins, Kevin and Ryan Clancy and Amanda and Kent Blackwelder and one great-grandson, Blake Baltes.

Marilyn Matthews
Marilyn Matthews, 55, of Minden died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born January 1, 1947 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was a seamstress and a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Sisco.
Survivors are one son, Gene Dodson of Minden; two daughters, Sherry Dodson Lynch of Magnolia and Paula Hasley Teague of Hot Springs, AR; two granddaughters, Kristin Elise Moody of Magnolia and Hollye Elizabeth Teague of Hot Springs; one grandson, Dustin Travis Moody of Magnolia; her mother, Betty Hasley Falls; stepfather, Doug Falls and two brothers Brian Falls and Mike Falls, all from Simpsonville, South Carolina; one niece, one nephew and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Lewis Chapel. Burial will be in Shiloh Lamartine Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home. Bro. Patrick Dye will officiate with Bro. Daniel Williams assisting. Visitations will be Tuesday evening, June 18, 2002. Pallbearers will be Donald Eades, Gary Wolf, Jeremy Williamson, Jimmy Rodgers and Bo Hicks.

Patricia King Shelton
Doyline - Mrs. Patty A. Shelton, 41, was born in Northampton, Massachusetts on August 30, 1960 to John Henry and Dorothy Ann Bushey King. Upon arrival in Louisiana , she lived part of her childhood in Minden. She lived the rest of her life in the Shreveport, Haughton, Doyline areas, and worked as a beautician for many years in Shreveport.
Patty stayed strong through her short battle with Cancer. She was received into heaven on Thursday, June 13, 2002 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Father God in Heaven just received the most excellent gardener he could find, and she is probably tending to his garden right now.
Patty was an excellent homemaker, and she had a love of animals, even strays that wandered into her yard. Her heart was big enough to handle her large family and anyone she came in contact with that needed some love. Patty worked for years with elderly people, helping them feel better about themselves. She took her profession seriously and was very good at what she did. Patty was preceded in death by her father, John Henry King, and her maternal grandmother, Ida Bushey of Massachusetts.
The following family members will forever remember the love that Patty shared with them all: her husband, Thomas Wayne Shelton, and their son, Matthew Thomas Shelton of Doyline; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Michael Willeford of Haughton; her brother, Wayne King and his wife Susan of Haugton; her sister, Debbie Evans and her husband Gene, of Oklahoma ; her sister Janet Ussery and her husband Terry, of Texas ; her brother, John King and his wife Caroline of Doyline; and her brother Steven King of Haughton.
Patty's precious nieces and nephews, Angela Evans, Melissa Carter, Amanda Carter, Jennifer King, Tyler Evans and Christopher King will always remember the many hugs and kisses she gave to them.
She is also survived by brother-in-law Mike Carter of Texas ; and her father-in-law Thomas Junior Shelton. Patty has several aunts, uncles and cousins that still live in Massachusetts. Patty left behind many friends and past co-workers who loved her dearly.
Visitation was held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton on June 14. The funeral was held Saturday, June 15 in the Hill Crest Chapel. The service was officiated by Bro. Eddie Sowders and Reverend Father Joe Martina
The family would like to thank Schumpert Hospice, Chris and Debbie, for their dedicated service and helpfulness in this time of need.

Herbert Eugene Perry
Funeral services for Herbert Eugene Perry, 78, of Carthage, Miss. were held Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard May officiating. Burial followed at Haughton Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 15 from 7-9 p.m.
Mr. Perry, formerly of Haughton, Passed away on June 13, 2002 in Jackson , Miss. He worked as a carpenter. Mr. Perry was born in Leake County, Miss. He was preceded in death by his wife Lizzie Reid Perry.
Survivors include: two daughters, Darlene Chamblee and Becky Ellis, both of Carthage, Miss.; two step children, Charles Reid and Joyce Lunsford; one sister, Elizabeth Spingler of Marion, Ind.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Edna Carr
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Carr, 73, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Shreveport.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today, June 14, at the funeral home.

Patricia Shelton
Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Ann King Shelton, 41, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton with the Rev. Eddie Sowders and the Rev. Joe Martina officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 14, at the funeral home.

Joseph Gaynor
Memorial services for Mr. Joseph L. Gaynor will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at his mother's home in Doyline. Services are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton.
Mr. Gaynor, a native of Victorville, Calif., Passed away Sunday, June 2, after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1957, at George Air Force Base in Victorville to Jim and Maxine Gaynor. He traveled the world as a child with his Air Force family and continued on as an adult when he joined the Thomas Shows Carnival Circuit. He settled on Lake Bistineau to be close to his family in 1990. He was an avid fisherman and a NASCAR fan. He was a wonderful son; a brother to many; and an uncle to all. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Gaynor.
He is survived by his loving mother; brothers, Jim Gaynor Jr. and wife Jodie, John Gaynor, Jerry Gaynor and wife Lisa; Jesse Gaynor and wife Karen; one sister, Vicky Gaynor Pullig and husband Raymond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald Kimbell
Funeral services for Mr. Donald Lynn Kimbell, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 13, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Lynn Malone, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating.
Mr. Kimbell, a native of Homer and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 11, in Minden. He was a chemical engineer for Gulf Oil Co. He and his wife were married Dec. 7, 1954. They spent 12 years in Venezuela, from which he retired from overseas service with Gulf Oil in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Poteet Kimbell of Minden; daughters, Dianna Savage and husband Mike of Teague, Texas , Monti Brewer and husband Sean, Vonnie Ales and husband Mike, Sherry Summerlin, and Geri Jean Kimbell, all of Houston, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Clara Bell Lockhart
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Bell Lockhart, 104, will be held at noon, Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. Joshua Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon and Sons Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lockhart, a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 11. She was born Jan. 22, to the late Clark and Emanda Billard Rice. She professed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Claiborne Parish. Later, after relocating to Minden, she joined Mt. Comfort Baptist Church. She married the late William Amos Lockhart in December of 1918 and they had 11 children. She was a strong, loving, kind Christian mother that extended great love to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Cargie and Major; and one daughter, Mednesia.
She is survived by her son, Henry Lockhart of Minden; seven daughters, Mandy Washington and husband Patrick of Dallas, Texas , Geneva Nelson, Clara Odom, Arstella Jiles, Gloria Green, Christola Walton, and Vernell O'Neal and husband John, all of Minden; two sisters, Vera Williams and Vester Thornton, both of Minden; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; great-great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A'Dovorn Fuller
Funeral services for Mr. A'Dovorn Danny Ray Fuller, 29, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Anthony Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Fuller, a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, June 8, in a fatal accident. He was born March 10, 1973, in Shreveport.
He is survived by his parents, Rose Fuller of Minden and Lonnie Randall of Athens; one son, Dylan Turk of Minden; grandmother, Carrie Christopher of Rusk, Texas ; grandfather, Willie D. Stanley of Minden; three sisters, Chaunda Fuller Wilson and husband Glenn of Shreveport, RoLonda Stanley and Stephia Fuller McClinton and husband Andrew, all of Minden; two brothers, Tommie B. Fuller of Killeen, Texas , and LaCarlus Fuller of Minden; seven nephews; four nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Joseph Gaynor

Grace Watson
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Turner Watson will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter of First Baptist Church Minden officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 p.m., with family hour at 6 p.m., today, June 12, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Turner was born in Minden on July 25, 1919, one of seven children of June and Emma Botzong Turner of Minden. She was the last surviving member of that family. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Minden and recently a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class.
She was married May 29, 1942, to James William Watson of Homer, at First Baptist. After the war, they moved into their new home in Minden, where they lived from 1950 until present and raised their two sons, William and Frank. She wrote extensively about family and local history. She was descended from several area pioneer settlers, including the Germantown Colony settlers, George Frederick and Emmaline Botzong, and of John Sidney Killen, who authored the 1871 bill creating Webster Parish.
Mrs. Watson was a sixth and seventh grade language teacher in Minden at Lowe Junior High, Stewart Elementary, and Richardson Elementary, and maintained friendships with many of her now grown students. She was also active in the Dorcheat Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for which she served as secretary. She also prepared the annual newspaper scrapbook this year for the Louisiana D.A.R.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Frank A. Watson and wife Debbie of Kenner, and William Turner Watson of Minden; grandchildren, Kelsey Elizabeth Watson of Minden, Ryan Kendall Watson and wife Rebecca of New Orleans, and Tyler Clayton Watson of Kenner; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members.
Pallbearers will be David Boyd, Glenn Johnston, Tyler Watson, Ryan Watson, James Turner, and Kerry Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church and Northwest Regional Hospice.

Annie May Bradford
Funeral services for Annie May Bradford will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 11, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery in Minden.

Gregory Ferrell
Funeral services for Mr. Gregory Ferrell will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Homer.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m.

Virginia Pipes
Funeral services for Miss Virginia M. Pipes will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Lynn Malone officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, June 11, at the funeral home.
Miss Pipes, a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, June 9, at her residence. She was born in Doyline and was a graduate of Minden High School. She retired from Pennzoil, after 31 years of service as a secretary. She was a longtime resident of Shreveport and a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Pearl Pipes; one brother, Frank Pipes; and two sisters, Grace and Harold Stanley and Willie and Calvin McCollum.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Pipes; nieces, Velma Fisher and Dr. D.F. Fisher, Carol Matlock; nephews, Stanley and Virginia Pipes, Murrell and Betty McCollum, and Melvin Stanley; numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews, and special friends, Evelyn and Terral Lowe.
Memorials may be sent to Lakeview United Methodist Church, Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Caney Conference Center, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Johnny Smith Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Smith Jr., 57, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden, with the Rev. Victor Carter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mark Cemetery in Doyline.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, a native of Doyline, Passed away Sunday, June 2. He was born Feb. 4, 1945, and served in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Faye Smith; two sons, Darrin Keith and Ronald Lynn Smith of Shreveport; mother, Cora Lewis Alford of Doyline; four grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
