Funeral services for Mrs. Lovie Dixon Crow, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Peoples officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 21, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Crow, a native of Webster Parish, Passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Minden. She was born Dec. 25, 1922, to Roger and Bessie Presley Dixon.
She is survived by one daughter, Bessie Crow Lane of Minden; two sons, Wanda Wayne Crow and Charlie Crow, both of Minden; one sister, Eva Mae Kyle of Houston, Texas ; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Joyle Cecil Tims
Funeral services for Mr. Joyle Cecil Tims, 71, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 20, 2003, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Sarepta Cemetery.
Mr. Tims, a native of Chestnut and a resident of Minden since 1958, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, following a short illness at Minden Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1931, to Walter Joe and Ethel L. Aulds. He had been employed and retired from the City of Minden Street Department. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a U.S. veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Ezernack Tims of Minden; sons, Cecil Joe Tims and Richard Lynn Tims, both of Minden; one brother, Walter Kenneth Tims of Minden; one sister, Ruth Gifford of Sarepta; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joey Tims, Stevie Tims, Randall Tims, Blake Tims, Leo Perkins, and Mark Smiley.

Alma Allen
Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Ward Allen will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Moore and husband Monroe; one son, Willie K. Allen and wife Roberlene; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Treabi Lee of Bossier City, Ruby Lee, Ora Hicks of Doyline; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Doris Briggs
Graveside services for Mrs. Doris Helen Briggs, 73, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 18, 2003, at New Ebenezer Cemetery in Castor with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Briggs, a native of Coushatta and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Miller and Louise Berry; brothers, Johnny A. Foster, and James C. Foster Jr.; and parents, James and Annie Foster.
She is survived by her brother, Joe L. Foster and wife Carolyn of Sibley; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

James Miller
Funeral services for Mr. James David Miller, 44, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard Methvin officiating and the Rev. James Harris assisting. Burial will follow at Gilgal Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Miller, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Minden. He was a lab tech.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David E. Miller, Ruby W. Miller; grandparents, C.O. Horn and Thelma Horn.
He is survived by his wife J. Bernadette Miller; daughters, Audrey McCormick and husband Gabriel, Elaina McCormick and husband Jarred, and Amber Miller; son, James Caleb Miller; granddaughter, Madison McCormick; parents, Jimmy C. and Connie Miller; two sisters, Rheba Miller Savelle and husband Sammy, and Peggy Renee Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Gabriel McCormick, Jarred McCormick, Mark Smith, Mace Morgan, Howard Morgan, Jonathan Rumby, Jeffrey McCormick and Danny Johnson .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Edna Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Jones, 76, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., today, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jones Passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, in Oakland, Calif., following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Anderson of Kent Wash., Byron Benten of Marshallville, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara Larkford of Oakland; one brother, Shelly Anderson of Oakland; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Donald Smith
Funeral services for the Rev. Donald Lee Smith will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Ruy Boland
Ruy J. Boland was born June 11, 1909 to Dona Redman and Casey Wesley Boland in Comanche County, Texas , and Passed away at the age of 93 Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003. He will be buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo, Texas .
In 1934, he married Ruth Lois Johnson of Louise, Texas .
He attended school in Comanche County and graduated from Wharton Jr. College. After working as a mule-skinner with the Gray Line Railroad, as a steel worker and as a construction worker, Mr. Boland began 48 years as a professional in the oil industry, working first in the oil patch. He worked with Magnolia Oil Company in various phases of pipeline construction work and rough-necking for several drilling companies.
In 1949, he went to work for Houston Drilling Co., which later became Salt Dome Oil Company. He was the drilling superintendent for the rig that drilled the first offshore well in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1965, he was the drilling superintendent for Texas Oil and Gas Corporation's Gulf Coast District.
Mr. Boland was an active member of Louise United Methodist Church, having served as church treasurer and on the board of trustees. He was a former member of the Louise Lions Club. Having been a Mason for 50 years, he was a member of the Ganado Masonic Lodge #1055 A.F. and A.M. and the Shriners of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1978; his parents; brother, William Columbus Boland; son, Dr. Sidney Wesley Boland; and sister, Vata Williamson.
He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Ruy Sanders and husband Bill Sanders Sr.; daughter-in-law, Ona Faye Boland of San Antonio, Texas ; half sisters, JoAnn Gordon of Minden; Corrine Joyce of Folsum, and Mildred Moore of Dubberly; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his friend and companion, his cat, Callie, who brought him great joy in his later years.

Clayton Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Clayton E. Brown will be held at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 12, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating and the Rev. Wayne DuBose assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Brown, a native of Eupora, Miss., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Feb. 10, in Minden. He was born Dec. 16, 1918, to Elmer and Ina Brown. He lived in Minden for 21 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden and was a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Minden Chapter #53, Order of the Eastern Star and was a Master Mason. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of staff sergeant. He was retired from Northwest Louisiana Vocational School, where he was the maintenance supervisor for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene Rowland Brown; daughter, Kathy Gibbs and husband Bob of Goshen, Ind.; son, Ricky Brown of Minden; three grandchildren, Jason Gibbs and Rob Gibbs of Goshen, and Kelly Gibbs Lawson of Baltimore, Md.; two great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Smith of San Antonio, Texas ; sisters-in-law, Inez Landrem and Hazel Young; brother-in-law, Noel Byars of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Gibbs, Rob Gibbs, Scott Lawson, Charles Landrem, Gene Byars, Charles Camp, and Steve Bryan. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Alice Moore
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Cole Moore, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at 14th District Building with the Rev. Rickey Alstork officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Comfort Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 14, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moore, a native of Webster Parish and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Minden. She was born Aug. 1, 1908 to Jim and Ada Dillard Cole.
She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Franklin of Minden, Minnie Kennedy of Houston, Texas ; 16 grandchildren, Elroy Washington , Don Harris, Linda Washington Reed, Booker T. Washington , Brenda Washington , Alvin Washington , Wayne Washington , Frank Washington , Henry Harris, Ray Harris, Freddie Harris, Tarome Harris, Burnis Richardson, Charlean Cornelius, Lynetta Cornelius, and Cynthia Cornelius; 36 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Stella Racine
Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Hunter Racine, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at North Acres Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Roy Strother officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park West in Shreveport under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 12, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Racine, a native of Sibley and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Feb. 10, in Minden. She was a retired insurance underwriter for Tyler-Duncan Insurance Co.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ward P. Flores Sr., and Leon Racine; son, Ward P. Flores Jr.; and grandsons, Christopher Peyton Eberli and Brian Flores.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy Flores and wife Laura of Doyline, Wayne Flores and wife Debbie of Santa Monica, Calif.; four daughters, Margaret Woods and husband Billy of Ringgold, Dianna Hooper and husband Jake of Mena, Ark., Shirley McGeehee and husband Kenneth of Kilgore, Texas , and Neva Lopez of Kilgore; sisters, Willie Mae Horne and Lena Bell, both of Montgomery, Ala.; brothers, Frederick Hunter of Saratoga, Texas , and Warren Hunter of Shreveport; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joe Flores, Jamie Guice, William Flores, Robert Woods , Shelby Edwards, and Douglas Culpepper. Honorary pallbearers will be all her brothers in Christ from North Acres Baptist Church.

Gerald Coleman
Memorial services for Mr. Gerald Lee "Jerry" Coleman, 69, will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at American Legion Hall, Camilla Post #629, Coldspring, Texas .
Mr. Coleman, a native of Homer, Passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas , following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 2, 1934. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on a mine sweeper. After serving his country, he went to work for Tidewater Compressor in Houston, where he began as a diesel mechanic. He moved to Coldspring after his retirement, where he became very active in the American Legion, in which he held several local offices.
Mr. Coleman will be remembered for his good-heartedness, quick wit, and love of hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Hat'Sue Euda Coleman; his parents, Chris C. and Mattie Gore Coleman; and his brother, William Robert "Bill" Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; one brother, T.E. "Gene" Coleman and wife Martha of Homer; one sister, Sue Coleman Morgan of Minden; 15 nieces and nephews; 27 great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Camilla Post #629, P.O. Box 645, Coldspring, Texas 77331, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruby Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Ethel Kelley Smith, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 11, 2003, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm Self officiating and the Rev. Danny Warbington assisting. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Smith, a native of Ruston and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, in Minden. She was a retired sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Smith; grandsons, David D. and Dennis Smith; and one son, David Devon "Bud" Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Alvin Darrel Smith and wife Bonnie of Dubberly, Maurice Weldon Smith and wife Bonnie of Lafayette; daughters, Neva Elise Davis and husband Bill of Natchitoches, Evelyn Smith Walden and husband Joe of Minden; three grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Kenny Smith, Alan Smith, Jason Smith, Jimmy Davis, and Blake Chadwick.

Donnie Douse
Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Joe Douse, 45, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Springville United Baptist Church with the Rev. Timothy Carroll Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery in Gibsland under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held today, Feb. 7, until evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Douse, a resident of Athens, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Athens.
He is survived by his father, C.T. Douse; mother, Mattie Douse, both of Athens; daughter, Ms. Nunley of Shreveport; brothers, Ed Douse of Athens, Sammy Douse of Gibsland, Johnny Douse of Minden; sisters, Brenda Douse of Athens, and Patricia Douse of Flagstaff, Ariz.

J.B. Shelley
Funeral services for Mr. J.B. Shelley, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 7, 2003, at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton with the Rev. Bobby Dye, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Shelley, a resident of Bossier City, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Willis-Knighton Bossier after a lengthy illness. He was a retired route supervisor with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company with 40 years of service; a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard; a member of Central Baptist Church; and a resident of Bossier City for 49 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Shelley; sister, Neva McDowell; and brother, Charlie Shelley.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frankie Burdue Shelley; daughter, Pamela S. McKinley and husband James of Frisco, Texas ; brother, Jack Shelley of Doyline; two grandchildren, Jennifer McKinley and Lauren McKinley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Shelley, Rick Shelley, Randy Shelley, Edd McDowell, Jack Robey McClendon, and Jerry Mann. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayburn Green, Roy Burroughs, Charlie Jacobs, Larry Rogers, Jimmy Ray Walker, Joe McDaniel, Donald Crump, Ronald Crump, and Otis Strong.
