Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bell Wortham, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the Fourteenth District Building with the Rev. Robert Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Heights Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home of Minden.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wortham, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Shreveport.
She is survived by two sons, Odell Qualls of Wiley, Texas , L.B. Bailey Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Fannie Stanley of Minden, Mary Jo Smith of Minden; three brothers, John Willie of Oakdale, John T. Mitchell of Houston, Texas , Willie Lee Mitchell of Minden; five sisters, Emmie Lee Linear, Jessie D. Jones, Ola B. Grim, Emma Lee Tobins, Georgia Mae Coleman, all of Minden; 35 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-great-grandchildren.

Tony Bradford
Funeral services for Mr. Tony Bradford will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Mark Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Kirk Chapel Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 8 until 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home.

J.B. Shelley
Funeral services for Mr. J.B. Shelley, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton with the Rev. Bobby Dye, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at the funeral home.
Mr. Shelley, a resident of Bossier City, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Willis-Knighton Bossier after a lengthy illness. He was a retired route supervisor with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company with 40 years of service; a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard; a member of Central Baptist Church; and a resident of Bossier City for 49 years.
He is survived by his parents, John and Mattie Shelley; sister, Neva McDowell; and brother, Charlie Shelley.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frankie Burdue Shelley; daughter, Pamela S. McKinley and husband James of Frisco, Texas ; brother, Jack Shelley of Doyline; two grandchildren, Jennifer McKinley and Lauren McKinley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Shelley, Rick Shelley, Randy Shelley, Edd McDowell, Jack Robey McClendon, and Jerry Mann. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayburn Green, Roy Burroughs, Charlie Jacobs, Larry Rogers, Jimmy Ray Walker, Joe McDaniel, Donald Crump, Ronald Crump, and Otis Strong.

J.D. Parker
Funeral services for the Rev. J.D. Parker, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 3, 2003, at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Crawford Coon officiating and the Rev. Kenneth Dehart assisting. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Rev. Parker, a native of Jena and a resident of Cotton Valley for 17 years, Passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, in Shreveport. He was a retired Pentecostal minister.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Lee Parker of Cotton Valley; two sons, Darwin Parker and wife Connie of Cotton Valley and Delbert Parker and wife Cindy of Shelbyville, Tenn., and one daughter, Lynette Hartman and husband Don of Alleman, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Marlon Parker, Garland Parker, Jeremy Parker, Jonathan Lange, James Monroe, Tommy Wheeler, Greg Gibb, and Kirk Hartman.
The family requests that memorials may be made to the Tupelo Children's Mansion.

Robert T. McMullen
Graveside services for Mr. Robert T. McMullen, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 14, 2003, at Bistineau Baptist Church Cemetery in Heflin with military honors. Services are under the direction of Mangum Funeral Home in Texas .
Mr. McMullen, a resident of Heflin, Passed away Thursday, July 10, at 7:10 a.m. in Shelbyville, Texas . He was born in Detroit, Mich.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda McMullen; children, Tom McMullen of Colorado, Luann Tryzna of Colorado, Tim Bailey of Dubberly, Tina McMullen of Texas , Robert McMullen; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one sister, Ruth Graham of Michigan.

Bobby Ray Shelton
Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Ray Shelton will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the funeral home.

Elvin Jenkins
Funeral services for Mr. Elvin "E.W." Jenkins, 58, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Huey P. Roberson, officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary, Inc.
Visitation will be held today, July 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Jenkins, a life-long resident of Dubberly, was born June 6, 1945. He went home to be with the Lord, July 5, in Shreveport.
He is survived by one daughter, Veronica Jenkins of Minden; two sons, Vondrick Jenkins of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elviun Jenkins of Minden; one brother, Almer Jenkins of Dubberly; six grandchildren; his godmother, Dorothy Moore of Richmond, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Roberta Bailey Mims of Dubberly; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lola Abrom
Graveside services for Mrs. Lola B. Abrom will be held at noon, Monday, July 14, 2003, at Burns Cemetery in Haughton. Services are under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Peggy Ann Dick
Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Ann Dick, 46, will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 10, 2003, at Hill Crest Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline.
Mrs. Dick, a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, July 8, at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Evans; and her grandmother, Willie Lou Evans.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Dick of Minden; father, Shirl Spicer and wife Kay of Ewing, Va.; two daughters, Angela Stanaland and husband Michael, Melinda Walton and husband Brandon; four brothers, Gene Spicer and wife Patricia, Steven Spicer and wife Connie, DeWayne Vize, Burton Vize; and five grandchildren, Alyssa Woodard, Ariel Stanaland, Madison Nicole Walton, Hunter Joe Walton and Skyleigh Walton.

Funeral services for the Rev. Willie Green will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at From Bondage to Freedom Outreach Center in Shreveport. Burial will follow at St. Matthew CME Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family Hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the funeral home.

Jerlene Gipson
Funeral services for Jerlene Gipson will be held at noon Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Mt. Zion CME Church. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m., Friday, July 11, at the funeral home.

Bonita Heard
Funeral services for Mrs. Bonita M. Heard, 70, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003, at Gibsland First Baptist Church with Dr. Richard May officiating and the Rev. Lamar Skinner assisting. Burial will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery near Bienville under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. today, July 10, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Heard, a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, July 5, at Minden Medical Center. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny G. Heard of Minden; daughter, Tammy Heard Singleton and husband Ken of Arcadia; brother, Wade "Hamp" Murphy of Bienville; sister, Marlene Clary of Bienville; and grandson, John Chandler Singleton of Arcadia.
Pallbearers will be W.H. Murphy Jr., Ronnie G. Murphy, Keith Singleton, Kendal Singleton, Billy New, and James Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Gibsland First Baptist Church deacons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gibsland First Baptist Church's organ fund.

Donald Strickland
Funeral services for Mr. Donald Ray Strickland, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Strickland, a native of Dubberly and a resident of Shreveport, Passed away Friday, July 4, in Alexandria. He was a retired staff sergeant from the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his mother, Floris Carter Strickland of Shreveport; son, Bob Strickland and wife Sharon of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Becky Worden and husband Steve of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister, Carrie Dillman and husband Wayne of Shreveport; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Ethan, Jared and Katie, all of Broken Arrow.

R.B. Ferrell
Funeral services for Mr. R.B. "Big Red" Ferrell will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Point Pleasant CME Church in Homer with the Rev. Victor Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Point Pleasant Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Freda Ferrell; two sisters, Mattie Ferrell, Melvina Phillips; one brother, Johnny Ferrell; and his parents, Willie and John Ferrell.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Ferrell; five daughters, Deloris and husband Willie, Minnie Hollingsworth, Loretta Mayfield and husband Anthony, Deborah Ferrell, Annette Ferrell; three sons, Charles Fielding of Homer, Kevin Ferrell and wife Joyce, and Kenneth Ferrell; 25 grandchildren; four brothers, Jessie B. Retha Garland
Private graveside services for Mrs. Retha M. Garland were to be held at 11 a.m. today, July 3, 2003, at Provencal Cemetery in Provencal with the Rev. James Perry officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport.
Mrs. Garland, a native of Bellwood, Passed away Monday, June 30, in Shreveport. She was born Jan. 28, 1925, and was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. She was also a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Garland; and her son, Kerry B. Garland.
She is survived by her sons, Chad M. Garland and wife Eileen of Shreveport, Jeff Garland of Minden; sister, Yvonne Woods of Shreveport; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Louisiana , 520 Olive Street, Shreveport, LA 71104.

Willie Mitchell
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Lee Mitchell will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, at the funeral home.

Jean Lochner
Graveside services for Mrs. Jean Volentine Shull Lochner will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Salem Cemetery in Athens. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, July 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lochner, a resident of Lubbock, Texas , Passed away Saturday, June 28, in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 17, 1929 to Cecil Earl Volentine and Daisy M. Frazier Volentine. Her grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Dave Volentine and Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Frazier, who were prominent Claiborne Parish residents.
She attended school in Louisiana , Texas , and Ranger Junior College in Ranger, Texas . After many years of living in Alaska, she returned to Homer to help care for her terminally ill brother. During her stay in Homer, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, WSCS, the Homer Memorial Hospital Guild, and the Women's Department Club. She lived in Minden for 10 years, where she was a former member of the Junior Service League. For the past 17 years, she was a resident of Lubbock, where she retired from the dedicated service of Dr. Douglas Cone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her sister, and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, James Fredrick Shull and wife Eva of Mineral Wells, Texas ; three grandsons, Josh, Charles and Jimmy; brother, Cecil Volentine and wife Doris of Homer; four nieces; three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Vera Miller
Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Almond Miller will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, July 2, at the funeral home, and prior to services.
Mrs. Miller, a lifelong resident of Minden, was born July 14, 1910. She was actively involved as a member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, Girls' Auxiliary and was among the first members of the Women's Missionary Union in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Leroy Miller, and their son, Charles Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Benit and husband Jerry of Minden; grandsons, Philip Miller and wife Tracey of Minden; Keith Benit and wife Peggy of Mandeville, Michael Miller and wife Dana of Sibley; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Matthew Miller of Minden, Jonathan and Maggie Benit of Mandeville, and Zachary Miller of Sibley; sister, Inez Miller of Webster, Texas ; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Rose Bradford and Gladys Jones, all of Minden.
Pallbearers will be David Murphy, Marvin Jones, David Lyn Miller, Joe Coker, David Benit and David Mouser.
