John M. Rodgers
Funeral services for Mr. John M. Rodgers, 76, were to be held at 11:30 a.m. today, May 15, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Plain Dealing Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Mr. Rodgers, a native of Plain Dealing and a resident of Dubberly, Passed away Tuesday, May 15, in Dubberly. He was a heavy equipment operator for Hollingsworth. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jane Rodgers; and stepsister, Mildred Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Skaggs Rodgers of Dubberly; son, James E. Blythe and wife Helen of Dubberly; sister, Dorothy Faye Hartman of Bossier City; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be James Blythe Jr., Frankie Miller, C.C. Curry, Dale Pennington, Buddy Skaggs, and Joey Miller.

Ruth Talton
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth D. Talton, 89, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, May 15, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial was to follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly.
Mrs. Talton, a resident of Meadowview Health and Rehab, Passed away Monday, May 12, after a brief illness. She was born in Washington , D.C. on March 9, 1914, and grew up there one of four Irish girls and three Irish boys. She was a pioneer for working professional women. She was educated and worked as a paralegal for more than 10 years on Pennsylvania Avenue. As World War II came to an end, she met and married her lifelong companion, George M. Talton of Minden.
One of Mrs. Talton's greatest challenges and accomplishments was raising four children while her husband led them all over the world in his job as an engineer for Humble and Mobil Oil Company.
She was a longtime member of Minden Episcopal Church where she served faithfully on the flower guild. She loved people and the world around her, especially gardening earning the honor of state and national flower show judge. Recently, she most enjoyed reading and her afternoon coffee and dominos group at Meadowview. She loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest, but more than anything else, Mrs. Talton loved her family, and they loved her in return. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.
She is survived by four children, George M. Talton III and wife Libby of Virginia Beach, Va., Judith A. Strong of Savannah, Ga., Richard R. Talton and wife Becky of Minden, and William M. Talton of Minden; sister, Gene Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were to be Paul Culpepper, Doug Culpepper, Reed Bogues, Kenny Gunn, Bruce Holliday and Eric Strong.
The family requests the memorials be made to the Webster Parish Library in Minden in thanksgiving for the joy of reading they share with all the Minden community.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Mims Webb will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline. Burial will follow at Kirk Chapel Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Webb is survived by his sister, Elnora Calton; brother, Dezell Mims; devoted niece, Virginia Edwards; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Inez Tellis
Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Tellis will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at King Solomon Baptist Church in Sibley. Burial will follow at King Solomon Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the funeral home.

Frances Brister
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Maurice Brister, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial followed at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Sikes.
Mrs. Brister Passed away Saturday, May 10, at Grace Home in Shreveport. She was a devoted wife and mother, active in the WMU at Beech Springs Baptist Church, and worked in the Webster Parish School System for many years.
She is survived by her husband, L.D. Brister of Minden; one daughter, Sherry Willoughby and husband Ron of Benton; one son, Ken Brister and wife Cheryl of Shreveport; one brother, Crosby Adams Jr. of Winnfield; two sisters, Reba Gates of Atlanta, Texas , and Reitha Cannaday of Mt. Ida, Ark.; grandchildren, Adam Willoughby of Ruston, Tiffany Gremillion of Baker, Ashley and Courtney Williams, and K.C. Brister of Shreveport; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be Terry Gates, Steve Adams, Ken Shelton, Walter Humphrey, Chad Adams and Delane Adams.

Luther Dunlap
Graveside services for Mr. Luther E. Dunlap, 70, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Pine Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Dunlap, a native of Conroe, Texas , and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, May 8, in Minden.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Porter Dunlap of Heflin and a host of friends.

Warren Ippisch
Memorial services for Mr. Warren Ippisch, 86, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Brian Danese officiating and the Rev. James Merrell assisting.
Visitation will be held following the service.
Mr. Ippisch, a native of Omaha, Neb., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, April 28, in Minden. He was a former resident of Hinsdale, Ill., and a retired general contractor.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Kevin Ippisch and wife Margaret of La Selva Beach, Calif.; daughters, Dr. Kathryn Irizarry and husband Carlos of Minden, Janet O'Neill and husband Joe of Tucson, Ariz., and Ketti Goudy and husband Gordon of Delta British Columbia, Canada; and seven grandchildren.

John Striplin
Funeral services for Mr. John Larry Striplin, 58, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Plain Dealing Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, May 8, at the funeral home.
Mr. Striplin, a native of Cotton Valley and a resident of Dubberly, Passed away Wednesday, May 7, in Dubberly. He was a truck driver for Hollingsworth Construction Company. He was also in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by one sister, Connie Domangue of Morgan City; four brothers, William Striplin and Wesley Striplin, both of Dubberly, Benny Striplin of Cotton Valley and Leslie Striplin of Dubberly.
Pallbearers will be James Blythe Sr., James Blythe Jr., Paul Striplin, Paul Striplin Jr., Doug Cobb and C.C. Curry.

Joe Mosley Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Mosley, 97, will be held at noon Friday, May 9, 2003, at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Korean with the Rev. John Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, May 8, at the funeral home.
Mr. Mosley, a resident of Doyline, Passed away Friday, May 2, at Pilgrim Manor North.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Mosley of Gardens, Calif.; sister, Willie Mae Devereaux of Doyline; daughter-in-law, Rose Evans of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Hollene Nettles
Memorial services for Mrs. Hollene Nettles will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at First Baptist Church in the West Chapel in Minden.
Mrs. Nettles, a native of Aldenbridge, Passed away Wednesday, April 30. She was born June 27, 1917. She retired as a receptionist with Community Services after 18 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Nettles; and her daughter, Yvonne Parker.
She is survived by her daughter, Nieta McKenzie and husband James; three grandchildren, Mike McKenzie, Keith Parker, and Deidre Davis; four great-grandchildren, Lexie McKenzie, Kaitlynn McKenzie, Caroline Parker and Mary Boyd Parker; and numerous other family members and friends.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Nettles to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Sandra Thompson
Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Thompson will be held at noon Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow in Las Vegas, Nev.

Carter Shaw Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Carter Shaw Sr. will be held at noon, Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. today, May 2, at the funeral home.

John Henry Clark
Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Clark, 58, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at East Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Roderick Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at East Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Pruitt Mortuary in Houston, Texas .
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.
Mr. Clark, a native of Claiborne/Webster Parish, was born and raised in this area by his aunt and uncle, Emmitt and Rosie Lee Clark, prior to moving to Houston. He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Athens.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Clark; three daughters, Connie, Pamela, and Regina; two sons, Eric and Kevin Clark, all of Houston; 12 grandchildren; one aunt, Artency Harrison; three uncles, Emmitt Clark Sr. of Minden, Henry Clark and A.C. Clark of Houston; and a host of cousins and friends.

Carter Shaw Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Carter Shaw Sr. will be held at noon, Friday, May 2, 2003, at Patterson Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today, May 1, at the funeral home.

Ardell Nelson
Funeral services for Mrs. Ardell Seamster Nelson, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Durwin Adams and the Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary Inc. in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nelson, a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away April 25, in Minden. She was born Feb. 14, 1911, in Bienville Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Richard Seamster and Janie Mitchell Seamster.
She is survived by her two brothers, J.D. Seamster and Erving Seamster, both of Shreveport; two sisters, Velma Bradford of California, and Louetta Seamster of Minden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
