Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Helen Cushing, 83, will be held in London, England.
Mrs. Cushing, a native of Walthamstow, London, England, and a resident of Minden for five years, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Cushing.
She is survived by her daughter, Elisa Cook and husband Ed of Minden; son, Stanley Cushing of London; and grandsons, Paul and Tony Cushing.

Ronny Hatcher
Funeral services for Mr. Ronny Gene "Jeep" Hatcher, 61, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 23, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Methvin officiating, and the Rev. Don McCormick assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Hatcher, a native of Homer and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, in Shreveport. He was a sales representative for Frito Lay. He was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church and was a past member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge of El Karubah Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Melvin Hatcher; and brother, Robby Dean Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Hatcher of Minden; three daughters, Cathy Dunn and husband Richard of Minden, Sherry Craig and husband John Wayne of Doyline, Carla Gray and husband Terry of Minden; one sister, Lona Hammock and husband Charles of Elm Grove; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Powell, Dwayne Frye, Bobby Yates, Ronnie Dunn, Brady Dunn and Jeff Rhodes.

Joseph White
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph "Jody" Wayne White , 41, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Frank DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Sept. 23, at the funeral home.
Mr. White , a native of Minden and a resident of Ft. Worth, Texas , Passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, in Longview, Texas . He was a supervisor for a food service company.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Floy Johnson .
He is survived by his wife, Sharon White of Ft. Worth; parents, Travis and Myrna White of Dubberly; grandmother, Minnie Rose White of Mt. Vernon, Texas ; brother, Mike White and wife Brookie of Haynesville; sisters, Donna Rinaudo and husband Jim of Shreveport, Salli Osborn and husband Mike of Dubberly; nieces, Paige, Maddie, Gentry, Lexie and Harley; nephews, Dylan, Matthew and Rand; numerous aunts, uncles cousins and many close friends.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Morgan, Todd Fisher, Chad Gloer, Mark Gloer, Lane Edwards and Casey Corley.

Duncan Carter
Funeral services for Mr. Duncan G. Carter, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline with the Rev. Lee Nunley officiating and the Rev. Danny Moffett assisting. Burial followed at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline with full military honors.
Mr. Carter, a lifelong resident of Doyline, Passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, at the VA Medical Center. He was retired from the Webster Parish School Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of Luzon in the Philippine Islands, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollin and Kate Carter; daughter, Judy Harper; son, Melvin Stewart; two sisters, Martha Carter and Virgil Angel; five brothers, J.D. Carter, George Carter, Dan Carter, Gladney Carter and L.C. Carter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tina Stewart Carter; two sons, Charles "Dugan" Stewart and wife Bennye of Doyline, and Kenneth Stewart and wife Dawn of Dubberly; daughter, Ruby Mitchell of Doyline; daughter-in-law, Wanda Stewart of Doyline; sisters, Gladys Blackwell and husband Vernon and Annie Kate Bryant, both of Bossier City, Mae Martin of Minden; brother, Dayton Carter of Doyline; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, George Carter, Clay Craig, Jeremy Moffett, Tony Stewart and Chuck Stewart.
Memorials may be made to Point Chapel Assembly of God Church in Doyline.

Rhonda House
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhonda Kay House, 36, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Larry Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Doyline Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Sept. 22, at the funeral home.
Mrs. House, a lifelong resident of Doyline, Passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, in Hot Springs, Ark. She graduated from Doyline High School. She was a loving mother, best friend, great softball mom, and Harley girl. She and her husband Larry owned and operated Circle H. Pumps in Minden.
She was preceded in death by Charles Moss, John Jones; her brother, Maurice Wrigley and loving niece, Faith.
She is survived by her husband, Larry B. House of Doyline; father, Moe Wrigley of Lake Charles; mother, Rita Jones of Doyline; grandparents, Robert and Rena Matthews of Athens; three daughters, Lauren Lewis and Megan Lewis, both of Doyline, and Angel H. Northcutt and husband Ronnie of Houston, Texas ; sisters, Karen Rinaudo; nephews, Steven and Daniel, Kim Armstrong and husband Max; niece, Christen; nephew, Evan of Doyline, Kathy McCoy and husband Jason of Dubberly, Kristi Moss and Robert Bradley of Doyline; special sister, Mary Ann Jones and husband Danny of Minden; and their daughters, Felicia, Jessica and Billi; grandchildren, Haven, Hunter, Lakin, Lillison, Blaine and Charlie; and numerous other relatives and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Reynolds, Max Armstrong, Bobby Bradley, Danny Jones, Ed McDowell and Jeff Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Schuyler Marvin and Gaylon Stanley.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Joseph Peak Jr.
Graveside services for Mr. Joseph David Peak Jr., 79, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Pate officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Peak, a native of Vivian and a resident of Bossier City, Passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Minden. He was born Aug. 29, 1924, and was an employee of Ark La Gas from 1946 until 1985, and retired as superintendent of the pipeline division for Shreveport and El Dorado. He was also an Air Force veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Olene Barr Peak; two sons, Joe D. Peak and wife Janie of Charlotte, N.C., Gary Peak and wife Gera of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; grandchildren, Dr. Derek Peak and wife Jennifer of Saskatoon, SK, Canada, Jared Peak of Washington , D.C., Marissa and Brynne Peak of Trabuco Canyon; great-grandson, Sean Bennett Peak; and three sisters, Beverly Ann Hayes of Jonesville, Texas , Gloria Warbritton of Woodlawn, Texas , and Eloise Lewis of Waskom, Texas .
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Frances Watts
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Ellen Moore Watts, 73, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 22, 2003, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Mrs. Watts, a native of Heflin and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, in Bossier City. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Rosa Moore; and sisters, Ethel Wood Schenck and Mattie Ruth Anderson.
She is survived by her son, Walter "Wally" Watts and wife Marsha of Minden; daughter, Betty Rose Watts of Minden; sister, Dorothy Wood Dill and husband Donald of Longville; and two grandchildren, Craig Alan Watts and Beth Alicia Watts.
Pallbearers will be Paul Lessen, Mike Webb, Ben Schonfarber, Jim Barnette, James McNeil and Stanley Bullock. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Fryar and Bill Barkas.

Alice Embry
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Harrison Embry will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Mayflower Baptist Church in Minden, with the Rev. J.J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 19, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Embry, a native of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16. She was a 1966 graduate of Webster High School.
She is survived by her children, Shaunlunda Harrison, Shaun A. Harrison and wife Evelyn, and Patangalice "Tan" Harrison; one sister, Maple L. Harrison; nephews, DeQuinton Harrison and wife Kimberly, Decron Harrison, Shaundexter Eddings, Justin Harrison, Christopher Harrison; nieces, Marquita Harrison, Wilnetta Harrison, Crystal Harrison; eight grandchildren; seven aunts; six uncles; and many other relatives and friends.

Clinton Johnson
Funeral services for Mr. Clinton Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 19, at the funeral home.

Julian Doerge
Funeral services for Mr. Julian Francis Doerge, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas , with the Rev. Richard Hale officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Texas .
Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 17, at the funeral home, with family hour from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Doerge, a native of Ged, Passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Humble, Texas . He was born May 15, 1916, to George and Jewell Doerge. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He resided in the Houston, Texas , area for the past 61 years and 41 of those years, he was a switchman with the Southern Pacific Railroad.
"Pappa D" was known for his strong belief in his Lord and his love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but most of all, he was a man who loved his family. Everyone knew that his love of family always came first.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie Shannon and Carol Doerge, both of New Caney, Texas ; sons, Gary Doerge and his partner, George McGrath of Jackson , Tenn., and Dennis Doerge and wife Brenda of New Caney; sister-in-law, State Rep. Jean Doerge and daughter, Sherri Lexter; grandchildren, Dave Shannon, Keri Shannon Villarreal, Blair Doerge, and Brandi Doerge; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; his beloved companion, his boxer dog, Hilda; and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Brooks, Bud Roberts, Donnie Exernack, Ronnie Schkade, Troy Wootton, and Bill Brederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Brashear and Gary McGrath.

Lynn Grigsby
Funeral services for Deacon Lynn Grigsby will be held at noon today, Sept. 17, 2003, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Grigsby was born to the late Jesse Grigsby Jr. and Arlee Heard Grigsby-Williams on Aug. 23, 1934. In the early years of his life, he was known by friends and foes as "Spence." Lynn always brought joy and laughter no matter where he dwelled.
Mr. Grigsby joined Mt. Pisgah CME Church at an early age and later moved his membership to Mt. Calm Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon. He was an active deacon at Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church.
His early childhood education began in Claiborne Parish. He attended Northwest Technical School and also Arrows of Shreveport. He was the epitome of a husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He loved his family more than life itself. God's grace kept him for 69 years and will continue to strengthen and watch over his family.
On March 3, 1956, he married Martha L. Stumon in Pontiac, Mich., and two children were born.
He was a Master Mason of Byron Legardy Lodge No. 146, Free and Accepted Masons, also elevated as a Sublime Prince to a 32nd Degree Mason in James O. Bampfield Consistory No. 53 Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
He spent most of his adult life employed with the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Grigsby.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Daryln L. Grigsby and wife Barbara of Charleston, S.C., Delbert C. Grigsby and wife Wanda of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Sheddrick A. Remus of Los Angeles, Calif., Keywana C. Grigsby-Millbrook and husband Kenneth of Charleston, Delaina Jenae' Grigsby and Jada A'lece Grigsby, both of Alexandria; three great-grandchildren, Mariah Chante' Sterling of Minden, Kayla Renea' Millbrook and Arleana Diane Millbrook, both of Charleston; two goddaughters, Joan Harris Allen and husband Berry and Andrea Harris; two godchildren, Allexis Allen, Damien Harris, all of Minden; two stepbrothers, T.W. Williams of Cullen and Bobby Washington of Cullen; three brothers-in-law, L.W. Lewis of Cullen, Luthern B. Stumon of Shreveport, and Clyde I. Stumon of Plain Dealing; four sisters-in-law, Elrecie Stumon Lewis of Cullen, Barbara Stumon of Shreveport, Selena Gilbert Grigsby of Dallas, Texas , and Annie Lewis Stumon of Plain Dealing; also very special to his heart was Roderick D. Stumon, mother, Ceola Williams, and the McDonald family; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ruby Metcalf
Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby P. Metcalf, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Services are under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold.
Mrs. Metcalf, a native of Bienville Parish and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Sept. 15. She was born July 26, 1911.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Crockett Metcalf; and sister, Jeffie P. Hand.
She is survived by her sister, Rena P. Roberson of Alexandria; half sister, Eloise Mizell of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arnold Hicks
Military graveside services for Mr. Arnold Lavon "Red" Hicks, 79, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly with the Rev. Wayne Priest, the Rev. Barry Carter and the Rev. Don McCormick officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Hicks, a native of Dubberly, Passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, at Minden Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colvin and Zular Hicks; two brothers, Cecil and William Martin Hicks; three sisters, Louise Langheld, Marlene Tippin and Ida Mae Waggoner; and one grandson, Jeremy Wayne Priest of Dubberly.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Johnnie Lee Hicks; two sons, Tommy Hicks and wife Shirley of Minden, and Don Hicks and wife Rita of Dubberly; one daughter, Sharon Priest and husband Wayne; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Hicks of Dubberly; one sister, Cora Lee and husband Billy Ates of Minden; nine grandchildren, John Hicks, Angela Shine, Kevin Hicks, Tommie Jeanette Price, Jennifer Priest, Reba Jalil, Jason Holland and Allen Holland; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Glen Spillers, Mernard Shine, Kevin Hicks, John Hicks, Ronnie Price and Dr. Carl Hines.

Arnold Hicks
