Funeral services for Mr. Rhett Turner Reeves, 28, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Simsboro First Baptist Church with Dr. Wilton Hall officiating and the Rev. Ronnie Cathey assisting. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, March 31, at the funeral home.
Mr. Reeves, a resident of Simsboro, Passed away suddenly on Monday, March 29. He was born March 20, 1976 in Minden to Sam Davis and Nancy Turner Reeves. He was an active member of Simsboro First Baptist Church and an employee of Weyerhaeuser in Simsboro.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph Thomas and Virginia Griffis Reeves, formerly of Arcadia, and maternal grandfather, Floyd C. “Red” Turner, formerly of Minden.
He is survived by his parents of Simsboro; sister, Becky Reeves White and husband Jeff; brothers, Jeffrey Davis Reeves and Michael Thomas Reeves and wife Stephanie; nephews, Kolby Reeves, Jacob White , and Jebediah White ; nieces, Kelsie Reeves, Mary-Kathryn Reeves and Jessica Brunston; his maternal grandmother, Neva Storey Turner; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and a multitude of friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Anderson, Clark Canterbury, Dan Durrett, Jason Floyd, Toby Hammons, Doug Mills, Clint Robinson and Kenny Slocum.
The family requests that any memorials be made to Simsboro First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Willie D. Stanley
Funeral services for Mr. Willie D. Stanley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Anthony Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Marzella F. Stanley; nine daughters, Patricia Shelton, Priscilla Stanley, Rose Fuller, Joyce Island and husband Lish, and Gloria Dean and husband Bobby Womack of Minden, Carrie Mae Jenkins, Minnie Mae Stanley of Houston, Texas , Minnie Ruth Stanley of Compton, Calif.; five sons, Willie R. Stanley and wife Vyonne, Kenneth W. Stanley, Tommy Stanley, Billy R. Stanley and wife LaSheka, Melvin Stanley and wife Fannie Mae of Minden; one sister, Carrie B. Eason; one sister-in-law, Rosa M. Stanley, all of Minden; 58 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

John Frank
Graveside services for Mr. John E. Frank, 85, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Bistineau Cemetery with his grandson, John R. Rodriguez officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Frank, a native of Kiowa, Okla., and a resident of Heflin, Passed away Thursday, March 25, at his residence. He was a farmer and a veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Griffie Frank.
He is survived by his daughter, Ella Ruth Rodriguez and husband Richard; and his grandson, John.

Gladys Pepper
Graveside services for Mrs. Gladys Marie Pepper, 64, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Maddox officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Pepper, a native of Memphis, Tenn., and a resident of Millington, Tenn., Passed away Wednesday, March 24, in Memphis. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B.F. Blaylock and Lydia Marie Blaylock; and brothers, Sonny, Stanley, Barney and Thomas Blaylock.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Wayne Pepper of Millington; children, Debra McGee and husband Dickie of New Caney, Texas , Rodger Cook and wife Kay of Sibley, Cindy Hirth and husband Curtis of Dubberly, Melinda Burks of Celeste, Texas , Jeannette Davis and husband T.C. of Haughton, John David Cook and wife Beth of Sibley, Dennis Wayne Pepper and wife Tina of Millington, Tammy Pepper of Millington, and Buffy Pepper of Millington; sisters, Jean Montgomery of Munsford, Tenn., Sheila Kulawinski of Atoka, Tenn., and Shirley Hull of Monroeville; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ardis Amos
Funeral services for Mr. Ardis Amos, 72, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Minden.
Visitation will be held at noon today, March 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Amos, a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, March 23, in Minden.
He is survived by his son, Luther Amos; and daughters, Rebecca Amos Brownlee and Sonya Thornton.

Millard Jackson
Funeral services for Mr. Millard Everett Brannon Jackson , 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Carol Loftin Lee officiating and the Rev. Jim Reid assisting. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, March 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson , a native of Dallas, Texas , and a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 25, in Minden. He was the owner/operator of Jackson ’s Trading Post. He Passed away after a lengthy illness, but he enjoyed a fruitful life. He was known to many for his compassion and love for other people and his kind and generous spirit. He was a man who loved the Lord and influenced many lives for God. He was a living testimony of a good husband and great father.
He is survived by his wife, Mardrie T. Jackson of Minden; son, Artie Jackson of Minden; daughters, Brenda Collins of Dubberly, Deborah Mock of Baton Rouge and Rebecca Dianne Jackson of Minden; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special nephew, Vernon Jackson Jr. of Longview, Texas .

Patsy Collins
Funeral services for Mrs. Patsy E. Smith Collins, 46, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Carter Memorial Baptist Church with Elder Donnie D. Young officiating. Burial will follow at Pringer Place Cemetery under the direction of Kennon’s Mortuary, Inc. in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 26, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Collins, a former resident of Ringgold, was born January 8, 1958, in Shreveport. She Passed away Friday, March 19, in Dallas, Texas . She was a graduate of Ringgold High School, Class of 1976.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Collins of Dallas; stepson, Vonza Foley of Fort Worth, Texas ; her mother, Silver Lee Dangerfield of Jonesboro; stepfather, King Edward Dangerfield of Jonesboro; father-in-law, Furley Collins of Ringgold; two brothers, Charles Edward Dangerfield and Jeffrey Lane Dangerfield, both of Garland, Texas ; one sister, Michelle Dangerfield of Dallas; six aunts, Betty Sue Allen, Betty Joe Collins, both of Ringgold, Louise Taylor , Linda Weatherton, both of Helfin, Ruby Mae Hall of Dallas, and Mattie Faye Polk of Garland; two uncles, Johnny Smith of Dallas, and O. T. Smith of Heflin; six sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Penix
Graveside services for Mr. Kenneth Dale Penix, 43, were held Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Choudrant with the Rev. James Pruitt officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Penix, a native of Johnson City, Tenn., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 18, in Minden.
He is survived by his mother, Hilda Penix of Simsboro; and his brother, Jimmy Penix of Washington .

Augusta Edmond
Funeral Services for Mrs. Augusta Edmond, 75, were held Saturday, March 20, 11:00 a.m. at the New Light Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie R. Winzer, Pastor, officiating. Burial followed at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Augusta Edmond was born August 24, 1928 in Minden, LA. She departed this life on March 15, 2004 in Minden, LA.
Mrs. Edmond is survived by two sons, Henry Paul Myles of Pamona, CA and Arthur Edmond of Inglewood, CA; three daughters, Jean Edmond of Inglewood, CA, Rita Edmond of Los Angeles, CA and Felicia Edmond of Minden, LA; a cousin/sister/best friend, Eula Jones of Los Angeles, CA; special cousin, Dorothy Kirkpatrick of Minden, LA; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Edmond was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son, Larry Edmond.
Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary.

Arthur James “A.B.” Rice
Funeral Services for Mr. Arthur James "A. B." Rice, 60, were to be held Monday, March 22, 11:00 a.m. at the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church with Rev. C. O. Bryant, Pastor, officiating. interment will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
A. B. Rice was born September 10, 1940 in Minden, LA. He departed this life on March 17, 2004 in Minden, LA.
A. B. Rice is survived by his wife, Bobbie Knowles Rice of Minden, LA; his mother, Louella Rowe Moore of Dayton, OH; two sons, Tony Rice and Quincy Rice, both of Minden, LA; two daughters, Anita Rice of Minden, LA and Carolyn Rice of Denton, TX; one brother, Bill Douglas Moore of Kansas City, KS; four sisters, Jeanne Morgan, Velma Rice, and Sandra Pounds all of Dayton, OH and Lois Rice; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary.

Geneva Shehee
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Shehee, 49, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at St. John Baptist Church in Heflin with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial followed at Moore Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Shehee, a resident of Heflin, Passed away Wednesday, March 17, at Minden Medical Center.

Augusta Edmond
Funeral Services for Mrs. Augusta Edmond, 75, will be held Saturday, March 20, 11:00 a.m. at the New Light Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie R. Winzer, Pastor, officiating. interment will follow at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles B. Ferrell will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Arcadia. Burial will follow at St. Luke Cemetery in Arcadia under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Charles Ray Odom
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Ray Odom were held Monday, March 8, in Franklin. Burial followed at Golden Queen Cemetery in Centerville.
Mr. Odom, a native of Heflin and a resident of Centerville, Passed away Wednesday, March 3, in Minden. He was born on April 24, 1956, to Delphas Smith Odom and R.L. Odom of Heflin. He was a graduate of Central High School in Dubberly and Grambling State University. He was an employee of Cabot Corporation for 15 years. He married Connie Marie Elliott of Bayou Sale in 1983. They have two children, Charmette and Courtney C. Odom.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lidge Smith and Easter Harper Smith, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Odom.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, “Charm” Odom and son, Courtney of Centerville; mother and stepfather, R.L. Odom of Heflin; one brother, Donald Ray Odom and wife Mary of Minden; two great-aunts, Mary Wilson and Beatrice Watson of Houston, Texas ; eight aunts, Dorothy Smith of Minden, Hazel Tillman, Brinda Brown and husband Lenward of Heflin, Karen Smith of Dallas, Texas , Castoria Taylor , Ruth Johnson of Shreveport, and Mae Gurthie Jackson of Heflin; four uncles, Lidge Smith Jr., John Richard Smith, Edward James Smith and wife Sheryl of Houston, and Willie Gene Smith and wife Nancy of Dallas; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, co-workers and numerous friends and family.

Melvin Thomas
Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Thomas will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Hazel Bagwell
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Idell Bagwell, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 18, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating and the Rev. Malcolm Self assisting. Burial will follow at West Lake Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Bagwell, a native of Spur, Texas , and a resident of Minden for 40 years, Passed away, Tuesday, March 16, in Minden. She was a homemaker. She was a former resident of Girard, Texas . She was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church and a member of the Dixie Inn Lions Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie D. Bagwell.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Davidson of Minden, Donna Carter and husband George of Minden and Brenda Botica and husband Ronald of Elm Grove; and grandchildren, Robert Davidson, Kimberly Carter, Thomas Carter, Jeremy Botica and Jennifer Botica.

Charles Ray Batton
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Ray Batton will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Mayflower Baptist Church in Minden, located on Harris Road, with the Rev. J.J. Jones and the Rev. Billy R. Isreal officiating.
Mr. Batton, a native of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 11, at Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas . He was born March 19, 1954, to the late Charlie Edwards and Anna Batton Edwards.
He is survived by a very caring and loving mother; former wife, Brenda E. Batton; 11 beautiful children, Monica, Krystal, Charles, Arza “Man,” Ashley, Marcus, Dominique, Ron, Ebony “Boo,” Alexis “Baby-girl,” Christopher and Ashton; one brother, Anthony D. Edwards; one sister, Sally, all of Houston; five aunts, Emma Johnson of Houston; Betty J. Batton; Cumire B. Joyce and husband Clarence, and Willie Mae Walker, all of Minden, and Jocie Garrett of Bastrop; one uncle. O.B. Batton and wife Carla of Minden; one very special niece, Uniqua; two nephews, David Darcy and Cory Robinson; a devoted friend, Pan War “Baby”; two play brothers, Jackie Price and Wilbert Wilder, all of Houston, Texas ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
