Earnest Beasley Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Earnest Beasley Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at House of Prayer in Minden. Burial will follow at Colquitt Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. Beasley was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Jackson , Miss. He was the first of four children to Earnest Beasley Sr. and Bessie Hatter Beasley. He was the brother of the late Henry Hatter. He was very good in basketball and all sports, and was a 1967 graduate of Webster High School.
He is survived by his son, Tellis Beasley; three grandchildren of Houston, Texas ; four sisters, Mary Beasley of Minden, Lillie Law and husband Bennie of Buffalo, N.Y., Bobbie Southern of Shreveport, and Georgia Matthew and husband Bennie of Minden; a special friend, Ollie Greer of Cullen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Louidell Burns
Funeral services for Mrs. Louidell Johnson Burns, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodrick Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kennon’s Mortuary in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home, with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Louidell Burns was born April 30, 1941, to the late Leslie and Mable Kinsey Johnson . She Passed away Thursday, Feb. 12.
She married Willie Clyde Burns, who preceded her in death. To this union, two children were born.
Mrs. Burns is survived by her son, Brian Burns and wife Tammy of Minden; two daughters, Jan Burns and Carolyn Cosby and husband Kenneth, all of Minden; four brothers, Leslie James Johnson and wife Helen of Houston, Texas ; Cleotha Johnson of Akron, Ohio; S. J. Johnson and Mack Clinton Johnson and wife, Mary Grace, all of Minden; three sisters, Lettie Bradford of Minden, Odessa Frazier of Sibley, and her twin sister, Adell Johnson of Minden; two grandsons, Brandon Flournoy and McCameron Kinsey; one great grandson, Marcell Bogues; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Burns of Athens, and Dorothy Henderson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one goddaughter, Shamere Anderson; an aunt, Janie Kinsey Harvey; two special cousins, Inez Norton and Jewelene Roberson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mark Oliver
Funeral services for Mr. Mark A. Oliver, 30, will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. B.F. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Pringer Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. Oliver Passed away Monday, Feb. 16. He was born to Hilda Y. Oliver on Feb. 10, 1974, in Webster Parish. He grew up in Minden and attended Webster Junior High School. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Rest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Lee Sullivan; and his brother, Lorenzo L. Oliver.
He is survived by his wonderful mother; two sisters, Ldurda V.V. Oliver and Pamela Gill; one brother, Voltaire Sullivan; one daughter, Brittany Mims, all of Minden; three aunts, Bettye Roberson of Houston, Texas , Janice M. Toliver and Regeana Oliver, both of Minden; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eddie Sims
A memorial service for Mr. Eddie Sims, 76, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Mt. Dillard CME Church with the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Moreland Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 19, at the funeral home.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife, Alperry Sims; children, Banks Morris and wife Emma; Ora Schenell Green and husband Alvin, Sculanda Gail Valerie and husband Gerald, Eddie Sims Jr. and wife Lois, and Bernadette Brown and husband Jeffre; one sister, the Rev. Pearline Brown of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one supporting and caring niece, Thelma Ruth Morris of Minden; 10 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jerry Bridges
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Wayne Bridges, 43, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9, today, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.
Mr. Bridges, a resident of Homer, Passed away at Highland Hospital on Monday, Feb. 17. He was born Oct. 12, 1960. He attended school in Minden and in Homer, where he spent his life. He had many friends in both places.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Bridges.
He is survived by his wife Ronda Bridges; his son, Cody; daughter, Laci, both of Bossier City; mother, Joan Martin and stepfather, Marty Martin of Homer; brothers, Keith, Robert and Mark Bridges, all of Homer; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Marie Crockett
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Lites Crockett, 81, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 18, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Burial was to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Crockett, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard P. Crockett; and daughter, Judy Crockett David.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Crockett Brown and husband Edward of Minden; special friend, Irene Jenkins of Minden; grandchildren, Lisa David, Lori Warren and husband Jack, Amy Jones and husband Stuart, Polly White and husband Keith, Ben Brown and David Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were to be Billy Crockett, Ben Brown, David Brown, Marshall Merritt, Jack Warren and Steve Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center.

Reta Timmons Hanson
A memorial service for Mrs. Reta Lynn Timmons Hanson, 47, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Western Hills Baptist Church, located at 4153 Pines Road in Shreveport with the Rev. H.D. Smith officiating.
Ms. Hanson, a resident of Tacoma, Wash., Passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Tacoma, following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Hanson of Tacoma; mother, June Timmons, sister, Elizabeth Hooper; brother, Danny Timmons, all of Minden; brother, Gary Timmons of Boca Raton, Fla., and uncle, Merrell Timmons of Minden.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Howard Campbell
Howard Nathaniel Campbell, 88, Passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, after a courageous battle. He was born March 7, 1916 in Watauga, Tenn. He was a faithful member and deacon of Antioch Baptist Church. He was 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army retired and retired from the State of Louisiana Probation and Parole District Supervisor.
Mr. Campbell lived a full and wonderful life and leaves many friends behind who enjoyed his “stories” as well as family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Grimsley and Myrtle Campbell; sisters, brothers, and especially his dear great-grandchild, Wesley Chad Thompson.
He is survived by his dear and beloved wife, Juanita Farmer Campbell of Bossier City; two daughters, Dorcas Thornton and Trula Thompson and husband Leroy, all of Minden; two sisters, Ruth Elliott and husband Connly, Barbara Sams and husband Tommy of Watauga; one brother, Bob Campbell and wife Frances of Watauga; seven grandchildren, Pattie Milam and husband Jerome of Nederland, Texas , D’Wayne Thompson and wife Colleen of Homer, Tommy Thompson and wife Janet of Sibley, Tim Thompson and wife Carol of LaGrange, Ga., Martin Thompson and wife Doris of Minden, Comdr. Shawn Thornton, USN, Maj. Jason Thornton and wife Chris; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Geneva Cross
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Cross, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 2, 2004, at Emerson Funeral Home with Verlon Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Mrs. Cross, a resident of Jonesboro, Passed away Sunday, May 16, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Ringgold and lived in Minden before moving to Jonesboro 15 years ago. She was a retired waitress and a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cross; one son, Terry Dennis Cross; one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Beavers of Jonesboro; one son, Richard Cross of Heidelberg, Miss.; two sisters, Nell Ryan Blanchard, and Alverta Calhoun of Minden; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Gavin, Terry Stephenson, Billy Don Gray, Aaron Turley, Warren Lamberth, Billy Bob Ryan and Franklin Risher.

Mary Hawkins
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary D. Hawkins will be held at noon, Saturday, June 5, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Napoleon Merritt
Funeral services for Mr. Napoleon (Lee) Merritt will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Old Athens Cemetery in Athens.
Mr. Merritt, a native of Claiborne Parish, Passed away Sunday, May 30, at 9:30 a.m., after a brief illness. He was born July 11, 1953, to John L. and Anne Merritt. He was the sixth of eight children. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorthel, Lonnie and John Jr.
He is survived by his four devoted sisters, Alice Harris of Minden, Dollie Harris of Homer, Joyce Harris of Kansas, Mo., and Margaret Theus of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Laverica Merritt and wife Sue of Texarkana, Texas , David Lewis and wife Jewelene of Minden, L.T. and wife Sharon and Booker T. and wife Beverly, both of Tyler, Texas ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Ruby Winford
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lavine Anselin Winford will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 1, 2004 at Minden Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at from 1 p.m. until the time of services in Hutton Hall at Minden Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Winford, a native of Bay City, Texas , Passed away Sunday, May 30, at Glen Oaks Retirement Home in Shreveport, after a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1903. She formerly resided in Shreveport, where she was a businesswoman. She had resided in Minden since 1948. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, and was formerly a member of the Pine Hills Country Club where she was an avid golfer for 40 years. Her hobbies were gardening and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Virginia and Julius Anselin; her husband L.M. Winford; step-sons James M. Winford Sr., George M. Winford; step-daughter, Mary Winford Meeker; four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her niece, Jacquelyn Anselin Worley of Shreveport; step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the elders of Minden Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be made to Minden Presbyterian Church, 1001 Broadway, Minden, LA 71055 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Fannie Allen
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Mims Allen, 87, were to be held at 11 a.m. today May 28, 2004, at Mt. Zion CME Temple on East Union Street in Minden, with the Rev. Charlie Coleman officiating.. Burial was to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Allen, a longtime resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, May 21, at Minden Medical Center following a stay at Meadowview Health and Rehab.
She is survived by her son, Larry Morris and wife Sally of Andover, Minn.; one grandson, Craig Morris and wife Danielle of Los Angeles, Calif.; one granddaughter, Denise Morris of Hopkins, Minn.; and one great-grandson, Adrian Morris.

Master Dominic Bell
Graveside services for Master Dominic L. Bell will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Mayflower Cemetery in Minden. Services are under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Leon Chatman
Funeral services for Mr. Leon Chatman, 51, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Springhill CME Church in Homer. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 8 until 9 p.m., Friday, May 28, at the funeral home.
Mr. Chatman Passed away Saturday, May 22, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas . He was born Oct. 6, 1952, in Minden. He is the son of the late Lisso Chatman and Ira Chatman. He attended Webster High School and Vocational Technical School. He served in the United States Air Force for seven years.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother; sisters, Brenda Chatman and Margaret Frazier; brothers, Leonard Chatman, Johnny Hamilton, Rickie Chatman; sister-in-law, Brenda Chatman of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Elnora Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Elnora Harris will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Long Spring COGIC in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harris Passed away Tuesday, May 18, in Shreveport. She was born May 15, 1957 in Shreveport to the late Jessie Harris and Mary Ester Harris. She was the youngest of two children. At an early age, she joined Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church. Through her church experience, she played the piano for many different churches, last known to play for Long Spring Church of God in Christ.
She was known for her love for nursing and taking care of her grandchildren, friendly to all she met.
She is survived by her special friend, Richard Thompson; her two daughters, Sharniknca Brown and Twanski Lister; two sons, Quarderick Harris and Roderick Harris; two sons-in-law, Billy and Alonzo; two daughters-in-law, Sylvia and CoCo; one brother, Corinthian Harris and wife Shelia of Houston, Texas ; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
