Funeral services for Mrs. Dessie Kendall Bledsoe, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline with the Rev. Lonnie Hill officiating and Jerry Hill assisting. Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at her residence, located at 353 Watson Drive in Doyline, after 1 p.m. today, July 15.
Mrs. Bledsoe, a native of Tallahatchie County, Miss., and a resident of Doyline, Passed away Tuesday, July 13, in Doyline. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Autry Bledsoe; and son, Ronald Eugene Bledsoe.
She is survived by one son, Franky Bledsoe of Doyline; two daughters, Brenda Bledsoe of Doyline, Carol Miller and husband William of Doyline; four sisters, Essie Allbritton and husband R.D., Elizabeth Vance, Rivers Franklin and husband E.M. and Margaret Goss and husband Warner; two brothers, Doyle Kendall and wife Polly, and Buddy Kendall and wife Dorothy; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who knew her as "Mom," "Mama," or "Mommaw."
Pallbearers will be William Miller, David Miller, Bruce Blake, Derek Phillips, Brandon Marten and Ronnie Woodall. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Bardwell and Kenneth Jacques.

Forlando C. Johnson
Funeral services for Mr. Forlando C. Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Homer. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson Passed away Thursday, July 8, in Minden. He was born June 2, 1980 to Don C. and Minnie Johnson Thomas. He received his formal education from the Webster Parish School System. He was a 1999 graduate of Minden High School. He also joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He was known as a jack of all trades, and was especially known for his ability to rebuild and restore cars. He never met a stranger and captured the heart of many people.
He was preceded in death by his father; and paternal grandmother, Ida M. Thomas.
He is survived by his devoted mother; one sister, Cynthia Combs; maternal grandparents, the Rev. T.J. Johnson and Gladys Chatman; two nieces, Adrian and Jasmine Combs; and a host of uncles, aunts, family and friends.

L.T. Bailey Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. L.T. Bailey Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at New Light Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Noel Butler
Graveside services for Mr. Noel Howard Butler, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 13, 2004, at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly with the Rev. Frank DeLoach officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Butler, a native and resident of Dubberly, Passed away Sunday, July 11, in Minden. He was a former resident of Johnson City, Tenn.. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he served with the 456th Bomb Squadron during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Fay Butler of Dubberly, formerly of Johnson City; brothers, Joe Butler and wife Elsie of Dubberly, Dr. Jack S. Coussons and wife Mabel of Shreveport; nieces, Jan Butler Rise and husband Ted, and son, Larkin of Sibley, Holly C. Defatta, husband Philip, and children, Philip and Emilie of Rhome, Texas , and Amy Robertson and husband Doug, and children, Carly and Zack of Columbus, Miss.; nephews, Joey Butler of Dubberly, and Dr. Herb Coussons, wife Anna, and children, Alaric, Madeline and Jack of Greenleaf, Wis.
Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, Larkin Riser, Ted Riser, Jack Harrison, Jeff Reynolds and Scott Festavan. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Reagan and Roy Reagan.

Elton Cogburn
Funeral services for Mr. Elton E. "Eddie" Cogburn, 59, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, July 13, 2004, at Young's Chapel in El Dorado, Ark., with the Rev. Ronnie Morris and Dr. Dwain Miller officiating. Burial was to follow at Smackover Cemetery in Smackover, Ark., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in El Dorado.
Mr. Cogburn, a native of El Dorado and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, June 11, at his residence. He was born June 12, 1945. He was an operator for Conoco-Phillips and an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran baseball umpire and coach for more than 20 years, a member of First Assembly of God, and was active in church dramas and choir and Evangelism Explosion. He referred to himself as a simple man who always began each day with prayer and time with his Lord.
The family will be at 5068 N. Wyatt Dr., in El Dorado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elton George Cogburn; and sister, Sherry Bohannan.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Kay Cross Cogburn of Minden; mother, Lillian Cogburn of Smackover; daughters, Kim Riley of N. Richland Hills, Texas , and Mandy beers of Murrieta, Calif.; sons, Marty Leach of El Dorado, Shane Leach of Minden, and Yancy Leach of El Dorado; sister, Caye Pope of Smackover; brother, Ron Cogburn of Little Rock, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Memorial Program, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-0704; First Assembly of God, 2225 W. Hillsboro, El Dorado, AR 71730; or to Second Baptist Church, 1010 Combs, El Dorado, AR 71730.

Michael Gentry
Graveside services for Mr. Michael Wayne “Mike” Gentry, 54, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden with the Rev. Barge Elmore officiating and the Rev. Bill Ichter assisting. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, July 9, at the funeral home.
Mr. Gentry, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 7, in Minden. He was active in the Special Olympics.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette “Jenny” Gentry; and brother, John Bert Gentry.
He is survived by his father, E.W. “Pete” Gentry and wife Betty of Minden; brothers, Ed Gentry and wife Beth of Lake Charles, Mark Gentry and wife Denise of Grant; step-brother, Dal Taylor and wife Elisha of Springhill; and nephews, Clint, Seth, Ben, Clay and Keith Gentry.

Audrey Harp
Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Brantley Harp, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, July 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harp, a native of Quinlan, Texas , and a resident of Minden all her adult life, Passed away Tuesday, July 6, at Homer Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1980 from the U.S. Postal service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden since 1941.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Harp; mother, Grace Swindell; father, R.G. Brantley; and sister, Jeannie Jossey.
She is survived by her children, Jane Rogers and husband Jerry of Minden; Dale Harp of Charleston, S.C., Brant Harp and wife Anne of Minden; grandchildren, Amy Talley and husband Doug, Matthew Rogers and wife Tafta, and Blake Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Gabriel Talley; sister, Don Sims and husband Jerry of Houston, Texas ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry L. Sims, Gene Jones, William Hilburn, Ronny Collums, Steve Edwards and Johnny McDowell.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Webster Parish Library.

Johnny Lee Moore
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Lee Moore will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the funeral home, with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Moore, a native of Minden, Passed away Friday, July 2, at Willis-Knighton North.. He was employed with the City of Minden, Central Warehouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem Moore II and Mattie Mae Brodus Moore; and brother Elsward (Bobo) Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Glenell Moore; two daughters, Kimberly Williams and Nicole Roebuck; two grandsons, Brandon and Ashton Williams; three brothers, Harold Moore, Dr. James R. Moore, the Rev. Clem Moore III; three sisters, Emma Jean Moore, Mary Lynn Moore Jordan, and Geraldine Miller; two sons-in-law, Wyatt Williams and Esonyo Roebuck; two brothers-in-law; two aunts, Clifford Wrench, and Essie Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews; cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

Floris Strickland
Funeral services for Mrs. Floris Christine Carter Strickland, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Donald Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, July 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strickland, a native of Webster Parish and a resident of Larto, Passed away Monday, July 5, in Shreveport. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roy Strickland; sons, Bobby R. Strickland, Donald Ray Strickland, Billy Joe Strickland; brothers, Herman Carter, Clinton Carter, Richard Carter; and sister, Gertrude Burt.
She is survived by her daughter, Carrie G. Dillman of Shreveport; sister, Louise Jackson of Minden; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Lynn Godwin
Funeral services for Mr. Lynn William Godwin, 62, were to be held at 11:30 a.m. today, July 5, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating and the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor assisting. Burial was to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Godwin, a native of Louisville, Ark., and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Friday, July 2, in Sibley. He was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Tommie Godwin of Sibley; mother, Nellie Godwin of Minden; daughter, Carla McLaughlin and husband Mark of Minden; and one granddaughter, Chapin McLaughlin of Minden.

Dr. Richard J. Giesse Sr.
The family will host a celebration of the life of Richard Giesse at First United Methodist Church in Minden at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004. The Reverend J. Roddy Taylor and Reverend Rolly Walker will officiate.
Dr. Richard J. Giesse, Sr. entered into rest Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Meadowview Health and Rehabilitation Home in Minden. Dr. Giesse was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio to Carl Kern and Anne Prosek Giesse.
Dr. Giesse began his college education in 1939 at William Jewell College in Missouri, but was interrupted by World War II. He served in the Marine Corps for three years and returned to his pursuit of education, attending Howard Payne College, Hardin-Simmons University, and Texas Tech University, culminating with a doctorate in education and psychology at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe.
Dr. Giesse, known as Dick to family and friends, devoted his life to education, with a special emphasis on special education by working as a professor at Louisiana Tech University, the chief psychologist for Ruston State School and Ruston Mental Health Unit (1963-1987). After retiring and moving to Minden, he provided his expertise to Claiborne Parish Schools as a consulting psychologist. He was also a published author of several research publications.
At the same time, Dick and Bernice served as foster parents to many children through the years. Dick lived a full life. He was proud of his accomplishments and those of his family. He goes now to be with the Lord and to prepare a place for his loved ones. As a final selfless act in his quest for education, Dick donated his body to LSU Medical School in the hope that others may learn.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Elise Fallon and Robert Carl Giesse.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bernice Gossett Giesse, and their children, Judy Giesse Hart of Oahu, Hawaii; Richard 'Rick' Giesse, Jr. of Converse; Carl K. Giesse and wife Janet of Doyline; Lisa Giesse Samuel and husband Dawson of Minden; Michelle Giesse of Shreveport; and daughter-in-law Nancy Conville Giesse of Ruston. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston.

Leia Morris
Graveside services for Leia May Morris, beloved infant, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Heflin with the Rev. Larry Earhart officiating.
Leia was born May 28, 2004, and Passed away May 28, and was creamated.
She is survived by her parents, Joseph Bryan Morris and Khristal Sharlet Lolley Morris; and her sister, Trasie Lyne Morris of Minden; grandparents, Curtis D. Lolley of Hialeah, Fla., Kathie L. Lolley of Bossier City, Eugene and Jeanne Morris of Minden; and a host of numerous other family members and friends.
The family would like to give deeply appreciated thanks to the fourth floor nurses and staff at Minden Medical Center, the nurses and staff at The Women's Clinic.

Glen Thiel
Funeral services for Mr. Glenn E. Thiel will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the West Lake Baptist Church in Doyline with the Rev. Eddie Sowders officiating. Burial will follow in West Lake Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, July 2, at the funeral home, located at 601 Highway 80 East in Haughton.
Mr. Thiel, a resident of Doyline, formerly of Milwaukee, Wis., Passed away Wednesday, June 30, in Shreveport. He was born Jan. 31, 1947, in Port Edwards, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Thiel and stepfather. Robert Van Dyke.
He is survived his wife, Mary Beth Thiel of Doyline; mother, Virginia Van Dyke of Milwaukee; brother, Robert Thiel and wife Kathy of Milwaukee; sister, Joyce Dostalek and husband Dennis of Milwaukee; brother, Dennis Thiel and wife Sue of Milwaukee; sister, Sandra DeLuca and husband Mike of Horicon, Wis.; brother, Albert Van Dyke and wife Grace of Milwaukee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

William Washington Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. William B. Washington Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home.
Mr. Washington Passed away Thursday, June 24. He was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Webster Parish. His parents were the late Henry Mack Washington and Georgia Allum Washington . He was one of nine brothers and sisters.
He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. His wife would travel to join him when he was stationed in the States. He retired from employment at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
He grew up in the Blue Run Settlement and was a member of Blue Run Baptist Church. He rendered his service to the maintenance of the church building and Shady Grove Cemetery. He enjoyed planting big vegetable gardens and flower gardesn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah Mae Lindsey Washington ; five brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his son, the Rev. William B. Washington Jr. and wife Linda Washington ; grandson, William B. Washington III and fiance Janelise; step-granddaughters, Hope Clark and husband David, Faith Davis and husband Tyrone; step-grandchildren, Rush, Jade, Emerald, Patience and Joy; sister, Eva McGlothen of Suffolk, Va.; sisters-in-law, Odessa Washington , Vergie Winzer, and Evelyn William; and a great host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbors; and special great-nephew, Rickey Phenix and nephew, Cleveland Cornelius.
