Geneva Keathley
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Booth Keathley, 69, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, June 15, 2004, at Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline with the Rev. Shannon Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Keathley, a native and resident of Doyline, Passed away Sunday, June 13. She was a homemaker and a volunteer worker at Barksdale Air Force Base for the Red Cross. She was also a commander of the Royal Rangers for 11 years. She was a member of Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Bessie Booth.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Buddy Keathley of Doyline; son, James Keathley of Doyline; daughter, Connie Hardwick of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Jan Kreidel and Estelle Goodwin, both of Doyline; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Agnes Pauline Kirkpatrick
Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Pauline Miller Kirkpatrick were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, N.M. with Jim Gammon, minister of Sixteenth & Pile Street Church of Christ in Clovis, N.M., where she was a member for many years, officiating. Burial followed at 9 a.m., Monday, June 7, at New Mexico National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick, a resident of Clovis and a native of the Evergreen Community near Minden, Passed away Monday, May 31, at Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, Texas .
"Polly," as she was affectionately called, was born Jan. 25, 1929, the ninth and youngest child of Isaac Benjamin Miller and Eva Heflin Miller of the Evergreen Community. She was a graduate of Evergreen High School and attended business school in Shreveport.
Her husband, Burd "Kirk" Kirkpatrick, whom she met at Barksdale Air Force Base, made a career in the U.S. Air Force, and they were stationed in New Foundland, Alaska, and numerous bases in the continental United States, until his retirement at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and seven siblings.
She is survived by four daughters, Brenda Eve Kirkpatrick of Tracyton, Wash.; Kathryn K. Murphy, Marleah Kirkpatrick and Dara Kirkpatrick, all of Clovis; one sister, Hazel Miller White and husband Gaddis of Minden; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Miller and Leatrice Miller of Minden; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, John Donahew and Anna Belle Ford of Clovis.
Memorials may be made to Sixteenth & Pile Street Church of Christ, Missionary Fund, 1521 Pile Street, Clovis, NM 88101.

Norma Williams
Mrs. Norma Lee Barteet Williams, a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, June 11, 2004, at Meadowview Health and Rehab in Minden. She was born June 16, 1923 in Vivian.
She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Minden, and served the Lord many years as a Sunday School and Bible school teacher in southern Louisiana . At her request, her body was donated to science for medical research at LSU Medical Center.
Any memorials should be made to the ministry at Eastside Baptist Church, the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Barteet; mother, Martha "Leona" Barteet; husband, John L. Williams; brother, Earl Barteet; sister, Beaula Mae Barteet Cage; and sons, William F. McLemore and John A. McLemore.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer McLemore Cox and husband Ronnie, William D. McLemore and wife Jo Ann, Brian Keith McLemore and wife Sheri, John Clark McLemore, and Lori McLemore McGarity and husband Chris, all of Minden; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brittany and Ryan Cox, Fisher, Amanda and Braeden McLemore, and Dakota McGarity.

Lonnie Bryce Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie G. Bryce Jr. were held Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock and the Rev. Richard May officiating. Burial followed at Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Heflin with full Masonic rites.
Mr. Bryce, a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, June 11, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was in the United States Marine Corp Special Forces, was employed for 20 years in the oilfield with H.L. Hunt family and was affiliated with the Mobile Home and Transportation industries.
He was an active member of the Minden Lodge No. 51 F&AM, Minden Chapter No. 53 Order of the Eastern Star, El Karubah Shriners AAONMS of Shreveport, Beech Springs Baptist Church and was a Modal A collector and enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.G. "Tim" Bryce Sr.; sister, Lois Bryce; and brother, James F. Bryce.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Simolke Bryce; mother, Jewel M. Bryce of Minden; two sons, Kenneth A. Bryce and wife Caye, and Kary L. Bryce and wife Sharon; two sisters, Winnie B. Logan and Verna J. Pair and husband Franklin; six grandchildren, Jennifer Bryce, Nataly Bryce, Jared Bryce, Kara Bryce, Carter Lawrence, and Derrick Greene; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Simolke.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Al Simolke, Eric Simolke, Ray Bell, Kyle Cummings, Tommy Logan, Richard Logan, Mike Pair and Timothy Pair. Honorary pallbearers were James Madden, Jack Montgomery, Ted Riser, Dr. John B. Hill, Billy Sayers, Mickey Johnston and Jimmy Miller.

Cecil Morse
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Hubert Morse, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Bailey Mortuary, Inc., in Springhill with the Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Mr. Morse, a native of Emerson, Ark., Passed away Sunday, June 13, in Homer, following a short illness. He was born March 3, 1919 to Troy Nelson and Odus Evelena McDonald Morse. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of First Baptist Church in Cullen. He was a former employee of International Paper Co. and was owner and operator of Morse Plumbing/C.H. Morse Road Boring Company and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lydia Marie Mason Morse.
He is survived by his daughters, Sue Garner and husband Billy of Wynne, Ark., Phyllis Skaggs and husband Buddy of Cotton Valley; sister, Ruby Branton of Sarepta; brother, Hulon Morse and wife Mildred of Hope, Ark.; grandchildren, Christy McVay and husband Donald of Wynne, Curtis Wayne Skaggs of Cotton Valley, Amy Skaggs of Cotton Valley; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jacob, and Lydia McVay and Chandler Skaggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Mason, Robbie Mason, Haskell Morse, Windell Cheatham, Kevin Cheatham, Morris Wayne McClary and William Morse. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Mason, Terry Mason, Vernon Coile and Fred Mason.

Myrtis Pepper
Graveside services for Mrs. Myrtis Lanford Pepper, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley with Dr. Jimmy Tharpe officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, June 11, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pepper, a native and resident of Sibley, Passed away Tuesday, June 8, quietly and peacefully at her residence. She was the co-owner of Pepper Fence Company until she retired in 1989. Mrs. Pepper was a member of First Baptist Church in Sibley. She graduated as valedictorian of Sibley High School in 1946, and married Lonnie Pepper in 1953. She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking and her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Ovia Langford; and her husband of 45 years, Lonnie Pepper.
She is survived by her son, Robert Pepper and wife Emily of Sibley; daughter, Pam Edney and husband Dale of Shreveport; sisters, Geroline Burt of Eau Claire, Wis., and Doris Allison of Sibley; grandchildren, Michael Pepper, Ben Pepper, Chris Edney, Brooke Edney Ibi, Michael Vickers and Michelle Coker; two great-grandchildren; nephews, Larry Allison, Randy Allison; and niece, Beverly Sol.

Rhonda Goodman
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhonda Shelor Goodman were to be held at 10:30 a.m. today, in Boston, Mass.
She Passed away Wednesday, June 9, following a sudden accident. She was born April 10, 1945.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Goodman; parents, Ruth and Benny Goodman; brothers, David and Tommy Goodman and sisters, Jodi and Michelle Goodman.

Essie Sumners
Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Bell Richardson Sumners, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas . Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, June 10, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sumners, a native of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 8. She was born Dec. 25, 1911, in Minden to William Earnest Morgan and Clara Belle Holland. Mrs. Sumners was a devoted mother and a grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by husbands Clyde Richardson and William Ardel Sumners; and son Vernon Gail Richardson.
She is survived by her two daughters, both of Rockwall, Texas , Joyce D. Sumners and husband William Eldon and Mary E. Hunt and husband Robert; one daughter-in-law Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Richardson of Irving, Texas ;two great-grandchildren whom she raised, Marcus Wayne Lewis of Rockwall and Brenda Gail Meadors of Dallas; seven grandchildren; 21 other great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Colera Mae Pope of Dallas; and one brother, Floyd A. Murray of Kemp, Texas .

Bobbie Jean Almond
Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Almond will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 9, 2004, at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee, Texas . Burial follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee.
Mrs. Almond Passed away Monday, June 7. She was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Homer. She married Marion Almond in 1947 and Silsbee has been her home since 1954. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Silsbee and worked for Kent's Florist for several years. She retired from the City of Silsbee, where she served as court clerk for Judge Grote for 18 and a half years.
She will be remembered as a caring and loving person to all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Huey and Francis Weaver; sister, Myrlene Hammond; and brothers, S.T. Weaver, Bennie R. Weaver, Gavin Weaver and Harry Weaver.
She is survived by her three children, Danny Almond of Plano, Texas , Doug Almond of Beaumont, Texas , and Debbie McInnis of Silsbee; one sister, Eunice Gardner of Bossier City; and blessed with five grandchildren, Dustin and Megan McInnis and Amanda, Trent and Ashton Almond.

Barbara Maynard
A memorial service for Mrs. Barbara Nell Maynard, 69, was to be held at 10 a.m. today, June 8, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Barge Elmore officiating.
Mrs. Maynard, a native of Floyd, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, June 6, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Maynard; daughter, Sheila Kawagoe; parents, V.L. and Sis Johnston; sister, Nina Lester and brother, Johnny Johnston.
She is survived by her children, James "Jim" Matthews and Paul Matthews of McRae, Ark., Jennifer Smith and husband Eric of Waxhaw, N.C., and Theresa Rogers and husband B.J. of Bentonville, Ark.; brothers and sisters, W.L. Johnston, Rita and John Byrd, and Peggy Ferrell, all of Minden, Gary and Shirley Johnston of Searcy, Ark., Shirley and John Rogers of Beebe, Ark., Betty La Prairie of McRae, and Pam and Jim Roy of Ridgeway, S.C.; and extended family, the Rev. Barge Elmore and wife Louise, Dillard and Ginger Sikes, Elisha Taylor and Lavita Mixon, and Bobby Lee Matthews.

Ernest Chandler
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest David Chandler, 71, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ron Thiebaud officiating and the Rev. Dee Anders assisting. Burial followed at Hurricane Cemetery in Athens.
Mr. Chandler, a native of Ringgold and a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, June 4, in Minden.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Chandler of Minden; son, David Wayne Chandler of Shreveport; daughter, Cathy Chandler Bonsall and husband Jim of Minden; sisters, Dolores Semar of New Iberia, Diane Hankins of Haynesville; brother, Douglas Chandler of Shreveport; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Earnest Jackson
Funeral services for Mr. Earnest Jackson , 84, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ricky Alstork officiating. Burial followed at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden.
Mr. Jackson , a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, May 28, in Minden.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Thelma Dowell Jackson of Minden; three children, Barbara Deloach of Minden, Jacqueline Hardings and husband of Shreveport, Christeen Jackson of Minden; four grandchildren, Greg Deloach and wife Latina, Jeffery Jackson and Brandon Jackson , all of Minden, Lisa Davis; two great-grandchildren; one sister; and a host of friends and other relatives.

Sandra Lary
Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Lary, 64, will be held at 2 p.m., today, June 7, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Mrs. Lary, a native of Shreveport, Passed away Saturday, June 5, after a 15-month battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 20, 1940.
She graduated from Minden High School in 1957 and married the love of her life the same year, Tommy June Lary.
Mrs. Lary was a homemaker until she began her career as a pharmacist, graduating from Northern Louisiana University in December 1976. She began her career at Minden Cash and Carry Dug and Minden High. She later went to the Hospital Trade Center in Arcadia, and came back to Minden to Rite-Aid. She ended her career at Albertson's Pharmacy on Southfield in Shreveport.
She loved taking care of her customers and looked forward to seeing them come in. Many of them would stay and drink coffee and bring homegrown vegetables for her hospitality.
While battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, she took her pharmacy continuing education classes on the Internet and renewed her license for 2004.
She loved fishing, boating and family outings at Lake Bistineau and could always find her talking about her new cookbooks that she collected from vacationing through the south and touring historical plantations. She enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables and took great joy in sharing them.
Mrs. Lary was an incredibly loving and giving woman and took great pride in caring for her family and others. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bryant S. Barnette.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Lary of Minden; mother, Bonnie Madden Wiles; two daughters, Andrea Lynne Lary of Elm Grove, Hollie Lary Fritz and husband Paul of Shreveport; brother, Sherry Bryant Barnette of Maui, Hawaii; two grandchildren, Macy Rachelle and Blake Paul Fritz of Shreveport.

Karen Strother
Funeral services for Mrs. Karen Price Strother, 56, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at North Acres Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Talley officiating and the Rev. Ed. Jelks assisting. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Springhill under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strother, a native of Springhill and a resident of Minden, Passed away this morning, June 7, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of North Acres Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Franklin Price.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Roy Strother of Minden; mother, Margaret Owens Price of Springhill; one son, Shane Strother of Sarepta; two daughters, Kimberly Collins and husband Bill of Minden and Charis Gates and husband Jason of Dubberly; seven grandchildren, Mitch and Lexi Strother, Cherae and Chae Burns, Taylor and Jarrott Gates, and Dillon Shidiskis; five step-grandchildren, Jason and Alisha Shidiskis, Bobby, Andy and Daniel Collins; and two special sisters in the Lord, Sue Talley and Glenda Jelks.
Pallbearers will be Bill Collins, Jason Gates, Randall Carter, William McCann, Randy Ward and Danny Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of North Acres Baptist Church, Jimmy Downs, Steve Brown and C.L. Albritton.
Memorials may be made to North Acres Baptist Church.
