Graveside services for Mr. Macon Vivian Ford, 100, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Evergreen Cemetery in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating and the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor assisting. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.
Mr. Ford, a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, in Minden. He was a carpenter and a member of Evergreen Union Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosamond Kirkley Ford.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean Frye of Minden, Sharon Hollis and husband Don of Lumberton, Texas ; son, Marvin Ford and wife Mattie of Minden; grandchildren, Howard Frye of Collierville, Tenn., Jean Ann Frye and Joy Lynn Frye, both of Minden, Jay Ford of Dallas, Texas , and Keith Hollis of Beaumont, Texas ; two nephews; and one niece.

Bertha Miller
A mass of Christian burial for Miss Bertha B. Miller, 99, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with the Rev. Dan O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minden with Father Karl Daigle officiating. Services are under the direction of John Kramer and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the church in Alexandria.
Miss Miller was born April 1, 1905, and Passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Healthsouth Riverside Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Monica Miller; and her brother, Charles J. Miller.

Tim Williams
Funeral services for Mr. Tim Williams, 54, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating and the Rev. Wayne DuBose and the Rev. Bill Crider assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams, a native of Shreveport and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, in Shreveport.
He is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Sam Williams of Minden; two brothers, David Larry Williams and wife Jean of Colleyville, Texas , and Robert Samuel Williams and wife Judy of Texarkana, Ark.; two nieces; two nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Leslie Ray Pearl
Funeral services for Mr. Leslie Ray Pearl will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Pine Hill A.M.E. Church in Haynesville. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Haynesville under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m.

Donald Nation
Funeral services for Mr. Donald Eugene Nation, age 73, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Rose Neath Chapel, with the Revs. Micah Carter and Don McCormick, under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, near Dixie Inn.
Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Nation, a retired school teacher and coach, was born in Minden and resided in Bossier City.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Lou Nation.
He is survived by two sons: Britt Nation and wife Dianne of Sibley and Todd Nation of Minden, one daughter Lisa McMichael, special friend Glenda Nation, two sisters, Virginia Nation of Minden and Evelyn Moak of Wellington, DE, three brothers, Webster Nation, Pat Nation, both of Minden and Caston Nation of Greenville TX. Grandchildren, Brandi, Taryn, Ashley, Allen Todd, Kris, Ashlea, Carlee Jo, and Jasper, great grandchildren, McKenzie Lou, Hudson Lynn and one great grandchild expected. Mr. Nation also had many nieces and nephews.

Delorris Ann Gardner
A memorial service for Mrs. Delorris Ann Gardner, 54, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Gardner, a resident of the Minden area for most of her life, Passed away Friday, Aug. 6. She was employed at Wise Insurance Agency for many years. She was also a loving mother and wife.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Veta Jowers.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Gardner of Minden; father, Dee D. Jowers of Mt. Lebanon; son, Jeremy Howell and wife Jessica of Pensacola, Fla.; step-daughter, Taura Gardner of Minden; four grandchildren, Anna, Ashli, Amber and Jarod; sister, Martha Hunter of Shreveport; and brother, Russell Jowers of Henniker, N.H.

Lela Miller
Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Odelle Miller, 87, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 9, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial was to follow at Woodard Cemetery in Taylor .
Mrs. Miller Passed away Friday, Aug. 6, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont after a short illness. She was born in Bryceland, was a former resident of Taylor and had resided in Minden for 24 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Joby Miller.
She is survived by her daughters, Charleen M. Cole and husband Jeff of Shreveport, Jo Ann M. Grey and husband Albert of Dumfries, Va.; sisters, Evelyn Spurlock of Athens, Syble Hines of Shreveport, Myra Bickford and husband Daniel of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Anne-Marie May, Janet Richards, Pamela Roberts; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be David Ogwyn, John Ogwyn, Adam Cain, Matt Roberts, Matt May and Bob Hines.

Claiborne Swain
Funeral services for Mr. Claiborne Swain, 83, were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard May officiating and Dr. Jim Richards assisting. Burial followed at Old Athens Cemetery.
Mr. Swain, a native of Athens and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, at Minden Medical Center. He was a pulpwood contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Ruth Swain of Minden; son, Sherwood Swain and wife Jan of Minden; daughters, June Richards and husband Jim of Keller, Texas and Jimmie Ruth Nagler; sister, Daisy Austin of Athens; grandchildren, Phillip, Eric, Anna, Julie, Jenny, Jo Lynn, Joli Ruth, Rachel, Rebekah and Nathan; and several great-grandchildren.

Elsie Bryan
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Elsie Stephens Bryan, 98, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Wayne DuBose officiating and the Rev. Bill Crider and the Rev. Bill Ichter assisting. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryan Passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Meadowview Health and Rehab, where she had lived for two and one half years. She was a longtime resident of Minden, and was born in the Hurricane Community of Claiborne Parish on Oct. 6, 1905. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden since 1920. Mrs. Bryan and her husband, Ed, were past owners of Bryan's Flower Shop from 1954 until 1970. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Social Order of the Beauceant. She will be remembered by her faithfulness to the church, her work with flowers, love of family and a hardiness to keep on going and know what was going on.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; one brother; and one great-grandson.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann McKinney of Minden, and Ouita Johnson and husband Wesley of Brownwood, Texas ; six grandchildren, Hank Johnson of Dallas, Texas , Linda Porter of Brownwood, David Johnson of Roswell, Ga., Patty Pendergrass of Minden; Kim Bickham of Shreveport, and Jody Baker of Minden; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Bickham, Tommy Davis, Dr. Carl Hines, Robert McKillips, Glen Sandifer and Kevin Sandifer.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Minden.

Melissa Robinson
Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa J. Robinson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Robinson Passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, in Minden. She was born July 3, 1976 to Bennie and Essie Sampson. She was a graduate of Minden High School, class of 1995. She was employed for five years at Wal-Mart Supercenter. On April 1, 2000, she married Eric Robinson and they had one child. She brought a message of love, joy and kindness to all who met her.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Erick; one daughter, Armiya Eriuna of Minden; two step-sons, Eric Poland of Shreveport and LaDarrius Robinson of Minden; mother, Essie Sampson and husband Allen of Minden; two godchildren, AhMani Owens and Johnny Owens III of Minden; a god-sister, Tarry Owens of Minden; five aunts, Beatrice Franklin and Brenda Jones of San Francisco, Calif., Willie Mae Harvey and husband Lloyd and Berniece Jones of Houston, Texas , and Cora Jones of Minden; two great-aunts, Louanne Taylor and Josephine Williams of Dallas, Texas ; two uncles, the Rev. David Washington and wife Gwendolyn of Cullen, and Johnny Jones of Minden; one great-uncle, David Franklin of Minden; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Nelson and husband Frank of Louisville, Ky., and Lisa Robinson and husband Charlie of Bossier City; one brother-in-law, Billy Robinson and wife Vicky of Minden; a special family, the Peters family of Minden; a very special cousin, Veronica Franklin of Sacramento, Calif.; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Lula B. Hill
Funeral services for Mrs. Lula B. Hill will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Homer. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Homer.
Mrs. Hill Passed away Wednesday, July 28, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She was born to the late Roy Lee and Lucille Grant. She joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age.
She married Coy Hill on Dec. 27, 1981, and she worked on numerous jobs administering care for others, such as day care centers, nursing homes and hospitals.
She is survived by her two sisters, Callie M. Grant and Ella Mae Colquitt; two brothers, Roy Lee Grant Jr. and Gilmer Lee Grant, of Homer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ella Zappa
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella M. Zappa, 96, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer with the Rev. John McClelland officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Athens.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 5, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Zappa, a resident of Athens, Passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Homer. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Zappa; and son, John L. Zappa.
She is survived by her two sons, James Zappa and wife Edna Fern, and Finnis Zappa and wife Jeannie of Athens; two daughters, Sherine Zappa Carver of Athens, and Elizabeth Zappa Haynes of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Zappa of Athens; one sister, Mary McDonald of Haynesville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Zappa, Curtis Carver, Chris Maness, Todd Zappa, Charles Haynes and Tim Davidson.

Marvin E. Joiner
Funeral services for Mr. Marvin E. Joiner, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 11, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Morris Robe officiating and the Rev. Bill Kincaid assisting. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Joiner, a native of Gibsland and a resident of Fryeburg, Passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, in Shreveport. He was a former resident of Doyline. He was retired after 27 years as dock foreman for Red Ball Motor Freight Company. He was also self employed in lawn service. He was also in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vida Joiner; infant son, Eddie Joiner; parents, Jesse and Annie Joiner; and brothers, Jesse Joiner and Curtis Joiner.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Joiner of Fryeburg; daughter, Connie Landry and husband Mike of Shreveport, Debra Holifield and husband Otis of Willis, Texas , and Denise Hicks of Porter, Texas ; sister, Ruby Demoss of Waskom, Texas ; grandchildren, Amanda Jeoffrey and Katie Landry and Sherie Day, Angel Watkins, Russell Holified, Debra Hicks and Amy Hicks; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald Day, Brandon Sparish, Jon Brinlee, Billy Joiner, Otis Holifield and Russell Holifield.

Bill Lockey
Funeral services for Mr. Bill Lockey, 75, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Unity Baptist Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Chad Lee officiating, and the Rev. Cecil Marr assisting. Burial followed at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Cotton Valley.
Mr. Lockey was born April 29, 1929 in Cotton Valley to Jessie Edward and Lennie Miller Lockey, and Passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, in Bossier City following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Unity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jessie "Buddy" Lockey Jr., Lynn Lockey and sisters, Virginia Coker and Jessie Mae Clark.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce H. Lockey; sons, Dale and wife Ruby, Tony and wife Melody; daughters, Billie Payne and husband David, Bobbie Wall and husband, Greg, a very special "son" Barry Perkins; eight grandchildren, J.D. Lockey, Kika Thompson, Shane Miller, John, Julie and Josh Payne, T.J. Lockey, Amy Stewart; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Ratcliff, Joyce Ann Edwards and brother Barto Lockey.
Pallbearers were Larry Lockey, Jimmy Lockey, Jackie Ratcliff, George Lockey, Charles Rist, Jessie Striplin, "Little Buck" Wilkins and Keith Sandlin. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Deen, Clint Burke, Pete Burke, Lanny Moore, Mike Crouch, Charles Holtzclaw, Eugene Edwards and Jerry Slack.

Jack Lyons
Funeral services for Mr. Jack Lyons, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lyons, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, in Minden. He was a retired plant operator in the sand and gravel industry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lyons; daughter, Jackie Johnson ; and his son, Herman Lyons.
He is survived by his six daughters, Doris Wilson, Blanche Moore and husband Pondee, Barbara Larkin, Kathy Miller and husband Brandt, Rose Antee and husband Jackie, Myra Wilson and husband Grady, all of Minden; special friend, Mike Cottingham of Ringgold; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Terry Wilson, Alan Jones, Tony Lyons, Mike Wilson, Micky Moore and Kelly Wilson.
