Funeral services for Mr. L.G. Watson, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden with Dr. Jim Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Watson, a native of Arcadia and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, at his residence. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was born Nov. 7, 1913.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bro. L. Wayne Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rubye L. Watson of Minden; one daughter, Mickey McCoy and husband Bernard of Granbury, Texas ; daughter-in-law, Patsy Watson McDaniel of Minden; two sisters, Parnell Botzong and Oneta Tuggle, both of Minden; sister-in-law, Ruth Watson of Arcadia; grandchildren, Debra Hill and husband Steve, Charlene Reid and husband David, Michael McCoy and wife Donna, Toni Ingle and husband Mickey, and Tina McCormick; great-grandchildren, Holly Ward and husband Tim, Haley Darden, Brett Reid, Matt Reid, Leslie McCoy, Blake Ingle, Brooke Ingle, Jacob McCormick and Joshua McCormick; and one great-great-grandchild, Peyton Ingle.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Oris Maxwell "Cotton" Guthrie
Funeral services for Mr. Oris Maxwell "Cotton" Guthrie, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at First United Pentecostal Church in Minden with the Rev. B.J. Rhymes officiating and the Rev. T.W. Barnes, the Rev. Mark Whitehead and the Rev. James H. Whitehead assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 8, at the funeral home.
Mr. Guthrie, "Cotton" as he was known, Passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Minden. He was a lifelong resident of Minden, and he loved people and lived life to the fullest. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He was the founder and owner of Cotton's Fried Chicken and co-owner of Louisiana Fried Chicken. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his children, Charlotte King of Thonotosassa, Fla., Barbara Madden of Beagle, Kansas, Shirley Mitchell of Lane, Kansas, and Patty Boyette of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Opal Brooks of Caney, Kansas, Odean Roberts of West Monroe, Maxine Adcock of Minden, Beth Whitehead of Natchitoches; brothers, Otis "Joe" Guthrie, Sammy Guthrie, and John W. Guthrie Jr., all of Minden; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be Robert Wilt, Ralph Madden, Jonathan Guthrie, Billy King, Tony Hatton, Mark Killingsworth and Mathew Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Hatton and Jimmy Hall.

Jarusha Combs
Funeral services for Mrs. Jarusha White Combs, "Doll Baby," 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Union Grove CME Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Combs, a native of Homer and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, at Minden Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Lewis White Stovall; father, Allen White Jr.; and her daughter, Mary D. Combs.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lee Drew Combs Sr.; son, Lee Drew Combs Jr. and his wife Cynthia; two daughters, Gloria C. Morris and Marry C. Penton and husband Kenneth, all of Minden; two brothers, Cleveland White Sr. and wife Ola Lee of Minden, and Marvin Lewis of Homer; one sister, Ruth Thomas and husband Jesse of Shreveport; very special cousins, Lonnie Webb; Geneva Grider Rabb and Lucille Matthews, all of Minden; sisters-in-law, Minnie Grider and husband Willie Lee, Annie T. Beavers, and Rosie Harris, all of Minden, Jacqueline Combs of Homer and Linda C. Brackin of Gibsland; brother-in-law, Leon Combs of Houston, Texas ; seven grandchildren, Sheldrick Penton and wife Onya, Deldrick Morris, Itaska Combs, Larry Morris Jr., LaTarya Morris, Mequilla Combs, and Kenneth Penton Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Jaylin Penton, Ja'Vontae' Morris, and Amari Penton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Margie Johnson
Graveside services for Mrs. Margie Johnson , 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Barnard officiating. Services are under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark.
Mrs. Johnson , a resident of Superior, Colo., Passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Louisville, Colo. She was born May 2, 1923, in Minden to Luther Neil and Helen Chandler (Brisby) O'Rear. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by two sons, Renard Johnson of Superior, and Barnard Johnson of Silverthorne, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Robert Johnson
Funeral services for Mr. Robert David Johnson , 38, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson , a resident of Minden for most of his life, Passed away Monday, Oct. 4. He was born in California.
He is survived by two children, Andrew Johnson of Roseville, Mich., Courtney Johnson of Roseville; brother, Gilbert Whitehouse of Minden; and sister, Victoria Robinson of Ventura, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden in his name.

Callie Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Callie Mae Knight Jones, 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. T. A. Knapp officiating. interment will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary.
Visitation will be held today, Oct. 8, in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Callie Jones was born Jan. 26, 1926 in Calhoun, to the late Theodore and Maggie Lee Knight. She departed this life on Oct. 2, 2004 in Minden.
She is survived by one son, Willie Clyde Moore and wife, Hattie of Minden; four daughters, Marilyn Harris and Linnie Bailey, both of Minden, Leatrice Davis of Monroe, and Annette Davidson and husband, James of Columbia, S.C.; one nephew, Charles Kennon of Minden; 20 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Reatha Land
Funeral services for Mrs. Reatha Yates Land, 90, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Wayne DuBose officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today, Oct. 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Land, a native of Atlanta, Texas , and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, in Shreveport. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. C.H. Land.
She is survived by her son, Michael Land of Brookhaven, Ms.; daughters, Girnell Land of Salem, Va., and Marinell McMichael of Shreveport; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Patsy Wicker
Funeral services for Mrs. Patsy Marie "Pat" Wicker, 68, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with Dr. Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Wicker, a native of Pittsburg, Texas , Passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Shreveport following a short illness. She was born June 7, 1936, to Hardy Eugene and Virginia Warrick Waters. She was a resident of Springhill since 1969, and a member of Central Baptist Church. She retired from the Webster Parish School Board after 30 years as a third grade teacher. She graduated from Northwestern State University and received her master's degree from Louisiana Tech. She was a caregiver to her family and a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
She was preceded in death by her father, H.E. "Gene" Waters.
She is survived by her daughters, Teri Pace of Springhill, Gina Price and husband Tommy of West Monroe; mother, Virginia Warrick Waters of Springhill; sister, Nancy Word and husband Mike of Houston, Texas ; grandchildren, Seth Pace of Baton Rouge, Keith Pace of Springhill, John Price and Courtney Price, both of West Monroe; niece, Allison Nations of Houston; and nephew, Blake Nations and wife Tracy of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Ted Souter, Buddy Merritt, Ronnie Hennigan, Bobby McLain, Ronnie Coleman and Ray Huddleston.

Bessie Mae Issac
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Mae Issac, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Issac, a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Oct. 4, at Minden Medical Center. She was a native of Homer.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margone Booker.
She is survived by her son, Angelee Mitchell of California; four grandsons; four goddaughters; sisters, Roselly Bradford, Arcille Scoggins, Leola White ; brothers, Otis Rodgers, Bobby Jefferson of Shreveport and O.T. Jefferson of Texas .

Maxine McDowell
Funeral services for Mrs. Maxine McDowell, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Haughton with the Rev. Melton Prothro officiating and the Rev. Marvin Vault assisting. Burial will follow at Lane Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. McDowell Passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Shreveport. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Haughton for 54 years and retired as a sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd McDowell and grandson, Thomas Wayne McDowell Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Roy Lynn McDowell, Thomas Wayne McDowell and Louis Mack McDowell, all of Haughton; daughters, Lynda Sue Burkart of Haughton, Mary Anna Parham of Longview, Texas ; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dan Tipton, Dub Huffman, Steve Ragsdale, Calvin Simpson and Woodrow Parham.

Bryant Smith Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Bryant Earl Smith Jr., 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Lysbeth Cockrell officiating and the Rev. Jack Maxey assisting. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, a native of Shreveport and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Arcadia. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Sibley United Methodist Church and an Eagle Scout. He was also a past Master of Minden Masonic Lodge #51 as well as a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by Earl and LA Smith, and grandson, James Colby Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Merritt Smith; children, David James of Sibley, Vicky James MacIsaac of Minden, Mark Smith and wife Lauralei of Sibley, Linda Beth Smith Dunlap and husband Gary of Bartlett, Tenn., and Michelle Smith Walker and husband Scott of Glen Allen, Va.; brother: Harry Smith of Minden; sisters, Nelda O'Brien and Shirley Maxey, both of Sibley; grandchildren, Casey MacIsaac Bloxom and husband T.C. of Benton, Corey MacIsaac of Benton, Megan Smith of Bartlett, Markus and Riley Smith of Sibley, Cody James of Camanche, Texas , and Stuart and Emma Walker of Glen Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be Butch Smith, Terry Gray, Joe MacIsaac, Larry Merritt, Jeff Merritt and T.C. Bloxom.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimers Association or to the Sibley United Methodist Church.

Roger Dale Thomas
Funeral services for Mr. Roger Dale Thomas, 39, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold with the Rev. Everett Geis Jr. and the Rev. Billy Morrow officiating. Burial followed at Bistineau Baptist Cemetery in Heflin.
Mr. Thomas, a native of Ringgold and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Oct. 3.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Armneller Thomas and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Audrey Corbitt.
He is survived by his father, Jessie Thomas and his wife, Mary of Heflin; mother, Earnestine Stanfield of Minden; daughters, Stephanie and Jennifer Thomas, both of Minden; brothers, Dennis Thomas of Ringgold and Weldon Thomas of Dallas, Texas ; step-brother, Phillip Haynie and wife Jane of Knoxville, Tenn.; step-sisters, Paula Loennig and husband Doug of Bossier City, and Stacey Haynie of Monroe; grandchild, Jaylan Thomas; step-grandparents, Leon and Maude Morrow of Ringgold; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

James Morgan
Funeral services for Mr. James Carroll Morgan, 59, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 5, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Whispering Pines Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan, a native of Webster Parish, Passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, in Minden, after a lengthy illness. He grew up in Webster Parish and raised his family. His caring and easy-going nature has made a lasting impression on everyone who knew and loved him. He was devoted to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, James and Eloise Camp Morgan of Minden; three children, James D. Morgan of Benton and his wife Debbie, DeAnna Cooper of Shreveport and her husband Jason, and Mindy Cannady of Haughton and her husband Thomas; five granddaughters, Bridgette and Megan Morgan, Sylvia and Miranda Georgia, and Taylor Cannady; one brother, Kerry Morgan of Farmersville, Texas , and his wife Janice; and one sister, Brenda Ramsey of Bossier City and her husband James.
Pallbearers will be Larry Luther, Merrill G. Morgan, James Ramsey, David Fontaine, Tony Guinn and Brian Rust.

O'Neil Langheld
Funeral services for Mrs. O'Neil Langheld, "Nanny," 85, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 4, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.
Mrs. Langheld, a native of Haynesville and a resident of Minden for the past 55 years, Passed away Friday, Oct. 1, in Minden. She was a homemaker. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Langheld; parents, Sam and Luda Wilson; brother, Jim Wilson; and two sisters, Ona Mae Reeves and Lynn Rachael.
She is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Herford and husband Jim of Minden, Barbara Simmons and husband Neal of Bracketville, Texas , and Sandy Chanler and husband Bert of Minden; one sister, Wynne Stewart of Ft. Worth, Texas ; one brother, Doyle Wilson of Haughton; one granddaughter, Cindy Smith of Anniston, Ala.; five grandsons, Steve Sanders of Minden, Jeff Chanler of Minden, Caric Biles, Wesley Chanler of Minden, Barkley Simmons of Bracketville; and three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Smith of Lewisville, Texas , Ashley Sanders of Heflin, and Will Chanler of Minden; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and J.P. McBride.

Love Lee
Funeral services for Mrs. Love Harris Lee, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard Methvin officiating. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lee, a resident of Heflin for most of her life, Passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee; and daughter, Shirley Mangrum.
She is survived by her son, Jackie Lee and wife Doris; two daughters, Gladys Guthrie and husband Sammy, and Betty McGraw and husband Randall, all of Minden; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Augusta Jackson
Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Carter Memorial Baptist Church in Heflin.
Burial will follow at Theus Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
