Lola Mae Forbes
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Mae Haddock Forbes, 100, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, located at 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jackson ville, Fla., with the Rev. George Sprague officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Forbes, a native of Kings Ferry, Fla., and a resident of Minden for the last 12 years, Passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, in Minden. She had lived in Jackson ville most of her life before moving to Minden.
She was preceded in death by her 11 brothers and sisters; and her husband, Robert Grady Forbes.
She is survived by her son, John R. Forbes and wife, Marie Forbes; two daughters, Lola Mae Blakely and Joan Forbes Venator and husband, Col. Mike Venator of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Blaise Winn Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Blaise Julian Sr., 62, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Brian Denise officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, at the funeral home.
Mr. Winn, a native of Bastrop and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, in Shreveport. He worked in security for Louisiana Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Winn of Minden; son, Blaise J. Winn of Minden; step-son, Frank Winderweedle Jr. of Blanchard; daughters, Susan K. Winn Haseloff of Jackson , Miss., Ladonni Winn Burdine of Minden; step-daughter, Sondra Gail Speaks of Yuma, Ariz.; brother, Floyd Bearden of Siloam Springs, Ark.; cousin, Jimmy Garrett of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Frank
Mrs. Evelyn Burns Frank, 80, Passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Minden. She was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., and was a homemaker. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Frank.
She is survived by her daughters, Eddie Hammontree of Minden, Lyn Hiles and Kim McMahan, both of San Antonio, Texas ; son, Adrian Frank of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Christine Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Harris will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris Passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She was born to parents, Willie and Lovie Harris on Jan. 21, 1940. She was the sixth daughter and the eighth of what would be 10 children.
Mrs. Harris accepted Christ at a young age and joined Mt. Calm Baptist Church. She moved to Houston, Texas , where she attended Mt. Caramel Baptist Church, however, she did not move her membership from Mt. Calm BC in Minden.
She married Lenard Coleman and they had three sons, Lenard Coleman Jr., Julius Marcellus Coleman and Luther Coleman. She also had a fourth son, Walter Christopher Lewis, by her second husband, Walter Lewis Sr.
Mrs. Harris always brought a smile. She was well known and liked in Minden. When she became sick on Aug. 11, people at the gas station, Brookshire's, Rite Aid, Minden Medical Center and many neighbors would all ask about her.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents; six siblings, Helen Henry, George Harris, Effie D. Harris Gilmore, Archirene Harris Hewitt, Milton Harris, and Leon Harris; three sons, Lenard Sr., Julius Coleman and Walter Lewis Jr.; and second husband Walter Lewis Sr.
She is survived by her two sons, Lenard Coleman Jr. and Luther Coleman of Houston; three sisters, Georgia Pearl Hunt of Shreveport, Minnie Ola Hudson of Los Angeles, Calif., Dorothy Ann Harris and husband Cleveland Harris of Minden; four grandchildren, Karana Coleman, Kerrick Coleman, Luther Coleman Jr. and Felicia Coleman Chambers; nine great-grandchildren; 37 nieces, nephews and a host of cousins, friends and acquaintances.

Pauline Towns
Graveside services for Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Towns, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Mel Campbell officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 3, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Towns, a resident of Minden most of her life, Passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, in Shreveport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Towns.
She is survived by her son, Jim Towns and wife Charlotte of Shreveport; daughter, Juanita Moore and husband Ron of Waskom, Texas ; sister, Juanita Stone of California; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Louise Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Zeagler Jones will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jones Passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, and was born Dec. 31, 1916. She was married to (Ret.) Lt. Col. Rosamond Roy Jones of Natchitoches and Jack Batton of Minden.
She was affiliated with the American Legion Auxiliary, serving six terms as president of Wiley-Peevy Post 74, served two terms as fourth district president and served as official delegate to the national American Legion Convention. She was also affiliated with the American Legion Convention, in which she served as co-chairman for the ALA Fair booth and served 17 years as a volunteer at the American Legion Hospital in Shreveport.
She was also recognized for her outstanding service to veterans and was affiliated with Louisiana Girls State, serving 12 years on the board of directors and served 10 years as procurement chairwoman.
She is survived by one brother, Roy Zeagler of Clarks; three children, Doris Jones Copeland of Butte LaRose, Rosamond Anne Gaston of Breaux Bridge and Phillip Lee Jones of Dallas, Texas ; six grandchildren, Kenny Peaker, Theresa Futch, Robin Dotson, Richard Brasher, Larry Peker and Djon Ryle; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Futch, Sara Ryle, Heather Ryle, Sebastian Ryle and Sydney Dotson.

Paul Lemmond
Funeral services for Mr. Paul J. Lemmond, 66, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Gilgal Cemetery in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Sept. 2, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lemmond, a resident of Minden for the past 21 years, Passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the V.A. Hospital in Shreveport. He was employed by the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant for seven years as a millwright and retired from the maintenance department at Casino Magic.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Bonnie Ree Hutchinson and Neta Talbert; and one brother, Bud Lemmond.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lemmond of Minden; two sons, Jason Prichard of Burleson, Texas , and Timmy Lemmond of Orange, Texas ; one daughter, Julie Lemmond of Ill.; one sister, Betty Sue Jeans of Buna, Texas ; five nieces, Debbie Lou, Linda Jean, Rena Sue, Mary Jane and a special niece, Kay, whom introduced Wanda and Paul; three nephews, Jimmy, George and Johnny Jr.; six grandchildren; many great and great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stephens, George Stephens, Bryan Montgomery, Johnny Jeans Jr., Doug Sale and Charles Kirk. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hall and Jerry McEachern.

Josie Manning
Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Manning, 76, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Minden.
Mrs. Manning, a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, Aug. 27, at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruby Jordan of Chicago, Ill., Geneva Lee and Johnnie Lyon Day and husband Harry of Baton Rouge; two sons, Luther Manning and wife Lula of Shreveport, and Jerry Manning of Minden; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carrie Chapman of Kansas City, Mo., Mattie Peevy of West Monroe, and Maggie Souls of Minden; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Rogers C. Jackson Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Rogers C. Jackson Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Homer High School Auditorium under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Homer.
Visitation will be held from noon until 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home, and from noon until time of services at the church Sunday.
Mr. Jackson , or "Big Jack" as he was affectionately called, Passed away Monday, Aug. 30, at his residence. He was born in Homer on April 10, 1913. Known for his velvet smooth bass voice, he began his singing career at Mt. Pisgah CME Church, later co-founding the Gospel Jubilees. He served as a military policeman in Italy during World War II. He married Lafaye Carter of Lisbon. He retired after 18 years as a bus driver for the Claiborne Parish School Board, then along with his wife and others, co-founded Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Industrial Life Insurance Company in Homer and four other locations. His motto was, "You can make it if you try."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Angeline Jackson ; three brothers; and eight sisters.
He is survived by his wife of Homer; one sister, Ida Harvey of Fresno, Calif.; two sons, Stewart Griffin and Rogers E. Jackson of Homer; two daughters, Gwendolyn Jackson Frazier of Minden, and Carolyn Jackson Lumpkin of Dyerburg, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Stephen Shaw
Funeral services for Mr. Stephen Earl Shaw, 47, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Floyd Stratton officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 4:30 p.m. today, Sept. 1, at the funeral home.
Mr. Shaw, a native of Homer and a resident of Evergreen, Passed away Monday, Aug. 30, in Minden. He was a pilot for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture, Forestry Division.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Shaw.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Shaw; mother, Daphne B. Shaw, both of Evergreen; son, David Shaw of Heflin; daughters, Rachel Vise of Castor, Jackie Shaw of Dubberly and Callie Shaw of Evergreen; sisters, Pam Modisette of Evergreen, and Lisa Wimberly of Springhill; and two grandchildren, Kelly Willis and Kendall Vise.
Pallbearers will be Moe Moreland, O.H. Haynes III, Gary Sexton, Jeff Cupples, Jeff Anders, Larry Moore, Greg Thurman and Don Small.

George Harvey Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. George Harvey Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Fourteenth District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Harry Morgan
Funeral services for Mr. Harry James Morgan, 61, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with Dr. Morris Robe officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 22, at the funeral home.
Mr. Morgan, a native of Vinton and a resident of Webster and Claiborne parishes for 35 years, Passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, at Grace Home after a lengthy illness. He was a heavy equipment operator for Arkla Gas.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Holcomb Morgan of Sibley; son, Kristopher Morgan of Sibley; daughter, Kelly Denise Nelson and husband Chris of Sibley; granddaughter, Morgan Jade Nelson of Sibley; sisters, Helen East and Betty Bumgardner of Hackberry; and brothers, Francis Morgan and Clifton Morgan of Sulphur.
Pallbearers will be Robert Kidd, Chico LeBlanc , Jeff Harris, Leroy Moore, Johnny Herman and Butch Peaker.

Eula Mae Reaves
Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Mae Reaves will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Marandalous Holland and the Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Reaves, a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, at Minden Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1914 to Dave and Annie Bell McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Bessie Scott.
She is survived by one daughter, Pearl Lee Poythress of Los Angeles, Calif.; Willie Mosley and Frankie of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; Booker T. Mosley and wife Annie of Minden; goddaughter, Ella Dudley Ary of Minden; godsons, Keundrick Dudley and Reginald Dudley; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; a dear family, Dr. Carlos and Kathryn Irizarry and children, who were very special to her.

Lloyd Robbins
Funeral services for Mr. Lloyd Robbins, 51, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 22, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Nunley and the Rev. Tom Carlton officiating. Burial was to follow at Point Chapel Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Doyline.
Mr. Robbins Passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, at his home. He will be remembered for his love and respect for the outdoors, and for his love of fellow man. He always stood up for what was right, no matter the cost. He had no greater joy than when he was teaching children about the things he loved. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment God gave him on Earth.
Words cannot do justice to the man that he was and the hole now left in the lives of the family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mathew Robbins; and Rusty and Dusty Robbins.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 30 years, Debra Knaub Robbins; his son, John William Robbins; his daughters, Tanya VanCleave and Elizabeth Rae Robbins Colvin; his mother, Dorothy McBride Robbins; brother, Carl Robbins and wife Doris, Ray Robbins and wife Chris; sister, Diane Adkins; his grandsons, Kale Kyler Pitts and Kolby Copeland; nephews, Heath Hayden and Matt Adkins; and nieces, Amy Adkins and Selena Robbins.
Pallbearers were to be David Sexton, Horace "BoBo" Miller, Rickey Lee, Barry Chandler, Tony Stewart and Jimmy Dean. Honorary pallbearers were to be Clyde Stanley and Joe Payne.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Mae Reaves will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Marandalous Holland and the Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
