James Madden
Funeral services for Mr. James "Jim" Glenn Madden, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Nov. 15, and from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Madden, a native of Heflin and a resident of Houma, Passed away Saturday, Nov. 13. He was the president of Madden Calbe Service and belong to Jerusalem Temple Shriner's Club, Masonic Unity Lodge 267, Marine Corp. League and a board member of the Terrebonne Sportsman League. He was also a member of True Buck Hunting Club and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Madden and Emma Cole Madden; three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stewart Madden of Houma; sons, Jerry Madden and wife Dotty of Houma, Terry Madden and wife Lynne of Breaux Bridge; daughter, Dena Madden of Houma; sister, Josie Crawford of Minden; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Reva Roberts
Graveside services for Mrs. Reva Alice Wilson Roberts will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Nall officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roberts Passed away Sunday, Nov. 14.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward and Sophronia Alice Wallace Wilson; her husband, Joe E. Roberts; sister, Effie Dodson; and her brothers, Dawsom, Gordon, Calvin, Coy, Travis, Walter, Homer and Wallace Wilson.
She is survived by her nieces, Eloise Pater, Betty Hudman, both of Magnolia, Ark.; nephew, Bobby Joe Wilson of Norphlet, Ark.; cousin, Elvira Wallace of Magnolia; special friends Bonny and Charlie Flurry of Magnolia, Chuck and Ashley Flurry of Louisville, Ky.; her church family from Bethel Church; and the many families whose life she touched while she cared for their children.

William Wallace
Funeral services for Mr. William L. "Bill" Wallace, 72, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 15, 2004, at Bailey Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Mike Hisaw and Mr. Don Tate officiating. Burial, with the Rev. Ronnie Osborne officiating, will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin.
Mr. Wallace, a native of Sibley and a former resident of Heflin, Passed away Friday, Nov. 12, in Springhill after a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Springhill for 29 years, was a member of the Baptist church and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Marines.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Louise Gleason Jones Wallace of Springhill; brothers, Marvin L. Wallace and his wife Bobbie of Springhill, James O. Wallace and his wife Betty of Heflin; stepsons, Mike Jones of Benton, David Jones and wife Sue of King George, Va.; step-grandchildren, James Michael Jones and wife Shawn, Joseph Carl Jones and wife Sara, Lisa McDonald and husband Andrew; step-great-grandchildren, Christopher, Alexandria, Joseph, Jason and Ethan. He is also survived by a special niece, Jennifer Partain and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Greg Case, Nick Case, Eric Wallace, Terry Wallace, Jay Jones and Joey Jones.

Henry Combs
Funeral services for Mr. Henry Combs will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Homer.

Willie Mae Morris
Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Mae Key Morris, 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Mayflower Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. J.J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary.
Visitation will be held today, Nov. 12, at the funeral home with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mrs. Morris, a native of Claiborne Parish, Passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, in Minden. She was born Oct. 4, 1926.
She is survived by her son, Clyde Lewis Sr. of Minden; six grandchildren, Clyde Lewis Jr. of Tyler, Texas , Marvin Lewis of Kansas City, Mo., Beverly Lewis of Kansas City, Kenneth Lewis of Tyler, Anthony Lewis of Tyler, Lisa Lewis of Minden, and Anthony Bruce of Kansas City; eight great-grandchildren; a special niece, Kim Moore of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Samuel Robinson
Funeral services for Mr. Samuel B. Robinson, 49, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the 14th District Building in Minden with the Rev. Kenneth Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Newsome Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home.
Mr. Robinson, a native of Minden, Passed away at 9:25 a.m., at his home after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his sisters, Frances D. Poland and husband Benny, Emma Odums, Janie Porea, all of Minden; brothers, Willie D. Taylor and wife Lois of Beaumont, Texas , Albert Taylor of Houston, Texas , Otis Pettifoot and wife Clara of Houston, Texas , Robert Robinson of Oakridge; two children; and two grandchildren.

Lavern Carter
Funeral services for Mrs. Lavern Carter were to be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 9, 2004, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial was to follow at Springhill CME Cemetery in Homer under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home.

Annie Chatman
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Dunbar Chatman will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Fisher
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Alfred Fisher, 60, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, Nov. 9, at the funeral home.
Mr. Fisher, a native of Beaumont, Texas , and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Nov. 8, in Minden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Austin William Fisher Sr., and his brother, Edwin Lee Fisher.
He is survived by his wife Ruthie Fisher of Minden; mother, Beulah Fisher of Dodge City, Ark.; son, Reagan Todd Fisher of Bossier City; daughters, Kelli Fisher Morgan and husband Bobby of Minden, Loray Busby and husband Jack of Holland, Texas ; Genia Hampton Howell and husband Craig of Minden; sister, Sandra Hicks of Dodge City; brother, Austin William Fisher Jr. of Raceland; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Britt Synco, Joe Ellis Michael, John Synco, Ken Burnham Jr., Craig Howell and Jeff Ray.

Durrander Huey
Funeral services for Mrs. Durrander E. Huey will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 9, 2004, at St. John Divine Baptist Church in Heflin. Burial will follow at Mt. Ealm Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Vester K. Miller
Funeral services for Mr. Vester K. "Preacher" Miller, 95, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home Inc. in Springhill.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today, at the church.
Mr. Miller, a resident of Sarepta, Passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, at Springhill Medical Center. He was born Oct. 12, 1909 in Minden to the late Albert J. and Vara Lindsey Miller. He retired from the finishing room at International paper and worked for the Town of Sarepta and the Webster Parish Police Jury. He attended New Sarepta Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Vester K. Miller Jr.; three brothers; one sister; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Cleavie Miller of Sarepta; one son, William J. Miller and wife Judy of West Monroe; one daughter-in-law, Nobie Miller of Shongaloo; two daughters, Vera Duck of Sarepta and Doris Weaver and husband Charles of Sarepta; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Gene Hood, Carl Hood, Marty Hood, David Miller, William Miller Jr., and Randall Barnette.
Memorials may be made to New Sarepta Baptist Church Building Fund.

Ida Brandly
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Mae Swafford Brandly, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Winnfield Funeral Home, located at 3701 Hollywood Avenue in Shreveport, with the Rev. Clarence Rice of Mt. Chapel Baptist Church officiating. interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park, located at West 70th Street in Shreveport.
Family hour will be observed at Winnfield Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 5, from 7 until 8 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the services with repast served at the Mt. Chapel Church at 4034 Flora Avenue.
Ida Mae was born in the community of Cedar Grove near Winnfield, on Feb. 1, 1922 to Prince Edward and Carrie Bowie Swafford. Ida joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church at an early age under the Rev. O. D. Jackson , and after settling in Shreveport, she joined Mt. Chapel Baptist church under the Rev. W. A. Jones, to which she remained faithful until her reward.
Ida married Roosevelt Brandly on June 4, 1967, and enjoyed 37 years of a wonderful, Christian marriage. Her dedication to Roosevelt was complete, and their deeds and elegant life together shown as a light to us all and as a pattern for Christian marriage and fellowship. Ms. Ida worked from the late 1940's until 1969 at the old Pines Sanitarium in the West (Black) Wing rising serving as nurse supervisor. In 1969, as the Pines employees faced merger with the old Confederate Memorial Hospital (currently known as LSU Medical Center), Ida became the first black O.R. scrub nurse of record at the state facility.
Mrs. Brandly Passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother Ed and Carrie B. Swafford; sisters, Emma S. Ward of Doyline, Odessa S. Smith, Cora Lee S. Brinson, and Rachel S. Palmer; and her brother, Willie Swafford.
Mrs. Brandly is survived by her loving husband, Roosevelt; her stepchildren; her sisters, Carrie Lee Swafford of Minden and Eula Mae Swafford of Shreveport; and her brothers, Marshall Swafford, Prince Edward "Sam" Swafford Jr., and Artis Swafford; her nieces and nephew of care during her last days, Pat S. Waines, Thelma Brinson Walker, Margaret Jackson and Ronnie Swafford of Minden; her uncle Clarence McWright; and many other relatives and friends.

Ruth Corley
Memorial services for Mrs. Ruth Corley will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at Faith Restoration Ministries with Carolyn Michaels officiating. Mrs. Corley donated her body to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center for medical research.
Mrs. Corley Passed away Monday, Nov. 1.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Knighton Corley; parents, Essie and Jim Boyter; a brother, Loren Boyter; and sister, Helen Hill.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky Dison and husband Keith of Minden, and Shari Griffith of Minden; four grandchildren, Eric Duos of Eunice, Shelby Young and husband Wayne of Minden, Jeff Dison of Natchitoches, Phil Guin and wife Jennifer of Minden; five great-grandchildren, Chandler Duos, Stetson Mosley, Taylor Young, Hanna Young and Haley Young; three brothers, Roy Boyter of Shreveport, Roland Boyter of Monroe, Bob Boyter of Monroe; one sister, Shirley Connell of Shreveport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kamryn Hope Doggett
Graveside services for infant Kamryn Hope Doggett will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Minister Nels Thompson officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Baby Kamryn Passed away Monday, Nov. 1 in Bossier City.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, W.L. Hoffoss and J.W. "Billy" Jones.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Koen Doggett of Minden; sister, Hannah Holley of Minden; grandparents, Dickey and Theresa Doggett of Livingston and William K. and Donna Hoffoss of Minden; great-grandparents, Richard and Emily Suman of Arcadia, Yvonne Hoffoss of Minden, Syble Geneva Jones of Minden, Charles "Chuck" and Susie LaGrone of Lafayette, and Albert and Kay Doggett of Homer; and aunts, Jeanie Hoffoss and Kelly Doggett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the "Kamryn Hope Doggett Memorial Fund" at any branch of Hibernia Bank.

Louis Beatty
Funeral services for Mr. Louis Kenneth Beatty, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Heflin Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Reeves officiating and Dr. Randy Hales assisting. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
Mr. Beatty Passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, after a brief illness. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and a committee member of the Dorcheat Soil and Water Conservation Service. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Beatty was a farmer and a retired rural letter carrier. He was a deacon of Heflin Baptist Church, having served more than 50 years. He was a Master Mason and Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bertha Beatty.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Helen Reeves Beatty; one son, Joseph Robert Beatty and wife Diane; three grandchildren, Lisa Beatty Davis and husband Jimmy, Jodi Beatty Elliott and husband Ricky, all of Heflin, and Kenneth E. Beatty of Shreveport; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Leslie, Anna Beth, Emily, Nikki and Brandon; sister, Lucille Felts; brother, Lloyd Beatty and wife Vernita; a special sister-in-law, Alice Rugg of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Heflin Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Heflin Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 94, Heflin LA 71039.
