Lillie Mae Thomas
Graveside services for Lillie Mae Thomas, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary in Minden.
Ms. Thomas, a resident of Richmond, Calif., was born June 3, 1915 in Heflin, to Jess and Mollie Anthony. She departed this earthly life on Dec. 26, 2004 in Richmond.
She is survived by her niece, Sylvia Lee and Raymond Rambo, both of Minden; cousins, Virginia Phillips of Richmond, Floyd Corner and Doris Rhomes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Esther Bell Albright
Funeral Services for Esther Bell Albright, 79, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2005, at Mt. Calm B.C. with Rev. T. A. Knapp, officiating. interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Gibsland under the direction of Kennon’s Mortuary.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary.
Mrs. Albright was born December 1, 1925. She departed this earthly life on March 1, 2005.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Winfred Albright; and brother, Donnie McCoy.
She is survived by her sister, Sarah Lewis of Minden; special nieces and nephews, Melvin Cato, Fredrick Charles Cato, Linda Gail Wilson, all of Gibsland, Edward Ray Cato, and Ruby Jones, both of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Brooke Hope Christy
Memorial services for Brooke Hope Christy will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 200 at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Bossier City under the stained glass window built by her father.
Ms. Christy Passed away January 10 in Washougal, Wash., in the loving company of her beloved dogs Cody and Jacob. She fought the good fight with her “carpe diem” attitude and prankster style, but in the end her heart gave out and the Good Lord took her home.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas , on May 11, 1953 to Ray and Martha Christy. As a small child, she traveled with her sister and parents to Fairbanks, Alaska, on the Al-Can Highway for her father’s military assignment. In 1957, the family was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base. In Bossier City, she began school and graduated fro Airline High School in 1971. She especially enjoyed her years in the band directed by Dr. Douglas Peterson. She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1974 with a double major in math and French. She then attended a one-year graduate school to further expand her knowledge.
In 1975, she moved to Portland, Ore., where her maternal grandmother was residing. She was first employed by the Tandy Co. and then Northwest Bell Co. In her 21-year career, she excelled from engineer to project manager.
Ms. Christy discovered a passion in hiking the northwest and then began rock climbing in the off hours. She suffered a terrible fall while climbing Beacon Rock on the Columbia River Gorge in 1987. Her right ankle was shattered, and despite numerous surgeries to attempt saving it, her right leg was amputated in November 1989. She faced the physical difficulties with spirit and strength.
In 1992, Ms. Christy built a Lindal log home on property in Washougal and treasured every part of it.
She is preceded in death by an infant brother; grandparents; father Ray; mother Martha; and AA sponsor Pauline “Torchy” Forrester.
She is survived by a sister, Lark Christy Lambard and husband Warren Lambard, M.D.; nieces Brooke Hope Lambard Kyle, M.D., and husband Chris Kyle, M.D., of Miami, Fla., and Piper Christy Lambard Norton and husband Patrick Norton of Baton Rouge; nephew, Luke Gilkison Lambard of Dallas, Texas ; aunts, Leslie Gilbert Christy of Shreveport and Dr. Ruth Christy Funk and husband Dr. Frank Funk of Wilmington, N.C.; uncle the Rev. Wilbur Christy and wife Carole of Apple Valley, Calif.; cousin Betty Jane Guy and family of Niles, Ohio; and numerous cousins and friends, including Cathy Emmons, JoDee Liberty and Leslie and Tom Kyle.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

John Furlow Logan
Memorial services for Mr. John Furlow Logan, 41, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Heflin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Heard officiating.
Mr. Logan, a resident of Dallas, Texas , and formerly of Minden, Passed away Friday, Feb. 11, at his home in Dallas from complications of diabetes.
He was born August 23, 1963, in Shreveport. He was a self-employed graphic artist, musician and composer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar L. and Betty Furlow Logan.
He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Delma Lynn and Don Waltmon of Bucker, Ark.; aunts, Doris Logan of Ringgold and Maxine Widing of Dallas, Texas ; uncles, Douglas Logan of Ringgold, Bill Logan and wife Susan of Shreveport and B.J. Logan and wife Billie of El Pass, Texas ; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Martha Fish
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Louise Fish, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Jeff Flenniken officiating and the Rev. Bill Ichter assisting. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley.
Mrs. Fish, a native of Garland City, Ark., and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Tuesday, March 1, in Minden. She was born March 12, 1927, and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. "Bill" Fish; and her daughter, Louise Carlisle.
She is survived by her children, William C. Fish, Jr., Jane Harris and husband Benny, Kay Davis and husband Richard, Andy Fish and wife Robin, and Becky Anglin and husband Lonney; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Fish, John Michael Fish, Johnny Harris, Phillip Harris, Robert Miller, Peanut Davis, Jamie Grigsby and Jay Brunson.

Belle Lee
Graveside services for Mrs. Belle Morene Lee, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Carole Heard officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, March 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lee, a native of Black Diamond, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, Feb. 28, in Minden. She was a government inspector at the Ammunition Plant.
She is survived by her son, Leroy Lee Jr. of Minden; daughter, Kaylon Lee Goodwill of Minden; and grandchild, Terry Lee Widmer of Memphis, Tenn.

Viola Sanders
Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Elma "Sandy" Sanders, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Dr. Morris Robe officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sanders, a native of Geneva, N.Y., and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Tuesday, March 1, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Tabernacle in Sibley. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas Fred Sanders of Sibley; two sons, Thomas E. Sanders and wife Gwen, and Fred E. Sanders Sr., and wife Betty; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Maude) James, all of Sibley; one sister, Mrs. Jesse (Dot) Parker of Tallahassee, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bennie L. Coker, Fred E. Sanders Jr., Ricky T. Sanders, Thomas N. James, L. Keith James and Wesley A. James.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seventh-day Adventist School in Minden or to the Baptist Tabernacle youth group in Sibley.

James Savell
Funeral services for James David Savell, 83, will be held at 2 p.m., today, March 1, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Strother officiating and Fr. Karl Daigle, the Rev. Danny Warbington and the Rev. Bill Ichter assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Savell Passed away Saturday, February 26 in Minden. He was a resident of Minden and native to Raleigh, Miss. He was retired from the City of Minden.
Mr. Savell served in World War II in the Marshall Islands in the Marines for four years. He was in the army for 16 years where he also served in the Korean War. He was a loving husband, a very special father and grandfather and a faithful Christian who dearly loved the Lord. He was a member of North Acres Baptist Church for 40 years. He was an avid sportsman and is widely known in this area for his home grown fresh tomatoes.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Ruby Kathleen Savell and Sandy Lee Savell; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Savell; sister, Agnes Tatum; and brothers, Alexander John Savell and Franklin Savell.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Josephine Savell of Minden; son, Alan James Savell and wife Patricia of Minden; daughters, Anita and husband Rex Frye of Minden, Shirley and husband Mike Shuler of Minden, Judy and husband Wayne Jackson , Jenny and husband J.D. Greene of Minden and Loli and husband Jerry Johns of Minden; sisters, Frances S. Pope and husband Richard of Oak Grove, Emma Jean S. Reynolds of Monroe and Betty S. Johnson and husband Clifton of Shreveport; brother, Preston Savell of Shreveport; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Dale Thornton, Richard Thornton, Roger White , Ed Shuler, Brian Jackson and Chris Cheatham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Tucker and Daniel Shuler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Acres Baptist Church Building Fund.

Simms Normand
Funeral services for Mr. Simms Thomas Normand, 77, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with the Rev. Don McCormick officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Normand Passed away Feb. 25, 2005, in Minden. He was born in Marksville and was a retired regional sales director.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Normand of Minden; a son, Jon Thomas Normand and his wife Darlene of Lewisville, Texas ; a daughter, Sherrie Parkinson and her husband Ronnie of Bartlett, Tenn.; a sister, Remmie Bordelon of Bunkie; a brother, Lurry Thomas Normand of Bunkie; two grandchildren, Jonte' Normand and Jarett Chambers; and three great-grandchildren, Britnie Normand, Natilie Normand and Paige Chambers.

Arquilla Emmanuel
Funeral services for Mrs. Arquilla Harvey Emmanuel will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Hope Well Baptist Church in Dubberly. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Emmanuel was born to the late Jim Harvey and Jannie Kinsey Harvey on Feb. 17, 1930 in Dubberly. She attended public school at Hopewell Elementary School and Webster High School in Minden. She became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at an early age. She relocated to Houston, Texas , in the 50s, and joined Fourth Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member of the Usher Ministry until she returned to Dubberly. She came home to her home church in November 2000, where she was an active member in many auxiliaries.
She married James A. Rodgers in 1947, and they had one daughter. Later, she married Warren Emmanuel on Oct. 15, 1979.
Her jovial personality and warm, caring ways made a lasting impression on all who met her. Her genuine concern and compassion for her fellow man will be greatly missed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, cousin and friend to many who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren on Aug. 31, 1994.
She is survived by her loving mother, Jannie K. Harvey of Town and Country Health and Rehab in Minden; one daughter, Marzella and husband Leroy of Minden; one grandson, Keldrick E. Moore, who serves in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard in Wood, Mo.; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Anthony "Johnny" Lombardino
Funeral services for Mr. Anthony "Johnny" Lombardino, 85, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Mike Benefield and Dr. Tom Alley officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 25, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lombardino Passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Christus-Schumpert Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. He was a wonderful, compassionate man and was loved and respected by all who knew him. At age 17, prior to Pearl Harbor, he volunteered and was accepted by the U.S. Army. He was a World War II veteran who served in the 78th Lighting Division as an Army tech sergeant and was a awarded a Bronze Star, along with numerous medals of honor for his courage and defense of our nation.
He was one of the few living survivors who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and took the Remigen Bridge. Following an honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, he married his wife of 58 years, and owned and operated J's Auto Repair for approximately 15 years.
After selling his business, Johnny continued to serve the Minden community as Ward Marshall - Ward One Webster Parish from 1972-1993. Since his retirement as Marshall for 21 years, he continued his promise to the people of Webster Parish and always treated everyone alike and always helped to the best of his ability. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Tommie Camille Lombardino; daughter, Penny Camille Lombardino George and husband Michael; and his granddaughter, Candice Angelique Faulk and husband Garland Paul Faulk.
Pallbearers will be Michael J. George, Garland Paul Faulk, Jimmy Heflin, T.C. Bloxom, Weldon Johnston, Randy Shelley, John Walker Sr. and Robert Martin.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Kidney Association of Louisiana or the Alzheimer's Association Inc.

Eloise Morgan
Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise Camp Morgan, 76, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard Methvin officiating. Burial followed at Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Morgan, a native of Shongaloo and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Carroll Morgan.
She is survived by her husband, James C. Morgan of Minden; son, Kerry Morgan and wife Janice of Farmersville, Texas ; daughter, Brenda Ramsey and husband James of Bossier City; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Jones, Percy Jones, John Jones, Tony Guinn, Thomas Cannady and Brian Manness.

Karen Cobb
Funeral services for Mrs. Karen Mae Cobb, 48, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating and the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock and the Rev. Robert Leach assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Cobb, a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Minden. She was born May 3, 1956 in Monroe. She was a loving wife to Ivy T. Cobb for 30 years of her life.
Her cherished times were spent with her four children, Jeff, David, Rebecca and Eric Cobb, along with her seven wonderful grandchildren.
Though, at the age of 30, tragedy struck when she found out she must go on dialysis because of kidney failure. She also learned that because of heart failure, she could not receive a transplant. But she was a fighter and never gave up.
During this time, she saw the new clinic built and won a contest for the new name for the East Minden "Flow of Life."
Further setbacks would come, and a new child was to be born to the family. She was warned not to attempt this dangerous task, but against all odds, she brought this child into the world. He was born only three pounds. Today, Eric Cobb is a fine, husky young man.
Her trials on earth have ended including all of the pain and suffering.
She is survived by her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Virgil Groves; brother, Daniel Groves and wife Kathy; a sister, Janet Shows and husband Bo; and numerous friends and loved ones.
